The 4G-enabled HTC One runs the Android Jelly Bean  operating system along with a new user interface dubbed HTC BlinkFeed, which  transforms its home screen into a news feed comprised of updates from various  social networks, messages and email.

Two speakers reside on the front of the phone, offering stereo sound, backed up by a smart system called BoomSound that automatically detects the acoustics of the surrounding environment.

HTC BlinkFeed: A personal live stream right on the home screen. At the centre of the new HTC One experience is HTC BlinkFeed It is a bold new experience that transforms the home screen into a single live stream of personally relevant information such as social updates, entertainment and lifestyle updates, news and photos with immersive images so that people no longer need to go to separate applications to find out what’s happening.  HTC BlinkFeed aggregates the freshest content from the most relevant and interesting sources, giving it to people at a glance, all in one place, without the need to jump between multiple applications and web sites.

To enable this new dynamic approach to the smartphone, HTC will provide both local and global content from more than 1,400 media sources with more than 10,000 articles per day from some of the most innovative media companies, such as the AOL family of media properties, ESPN, MTV, Vice Media, CoolHunting, Reuters and many others.

HTC UltraPixel Camera with HTC Zoe, The breakthrough HTC UltraPixel Camera redefines how people capture, relive and share their most precious moments. HTC Zoe gives people the ability to shoot high-res photos that come to life in three-second snippets.  These Zoes, photos and videos are then displayed in a unique way that brings the gallery to life and transforms the traditional photo gallery of still images into a motion gallery of memories.  It also automatically creates integrated highlight films from each event comprised of Zoes, photos and videos set to music with professionally designed cuts, transitions and effects. These highlight videos can be remixed or set to different themes, and can be easily shared on social networks, email and other services.

To enable this innovative camera experience, HTC developed a custom camera that includes a best-in-class f/2.0 aperture lens and a breakthrough sensor with UltraPixels that gather 300 percent more light than traditional smartphone camera sensors.  This new approach also delivers astounding low-light performance and a variety of other improvements to photos and videos. In addition, the perfect self-portrait or video is just a tap away with an ultra-wide angle front-facing camera which supports 1080p video capture. Multi-axis optical image stabilisation for the rear camera also helps ensure video footage smoother whether stationary or on the move.

HTC UltraPixel camera adds many other features and effects such as enhanced 360′ panorama, time sequencing and object removal. The device’s camera is just 4 megapixels in resolution, but HTC claims that the  snapper uses “ultra-pixels” and a larger sensor than traditional smartphones,  making it ideal for shooting in low-light conditions.

Users can also record HDR footage in 720p HD at 60fps and in 1080p at 30fps and capture short HD videos and images in burst mode thanks to the HTC Zoe feature.

HTC BoomSound is the new HTC One offers the best audio experience of any mobile phone available today. HTC BoomSound introduces for the first time on a phone, front-facing stereo speakers with a dedicated amplifier and an amazing full HD display that immerses people in music, videos, games and the YouTube™ clips they love. Beats Audio™  integration is enabled across the entire experience for rich, authentic sound whether you’re listening to your favorite music, watching a YouTube video or playing a game.

HDR recording uses advanced dual microphones and audio processing to capture clean, rich sound that is worthy of high-definition video footage.  Phone calls sound great on HTC One thanks to the addition of HTC Sense Voice, which boosts the call volume and quality in noisy environments so that conversations come through loud and clear.

HTC Sense TV transforms the new HTC One into an interactive program guide and remote control for most TVs, set-top boxes and receivers. Tapping the power of the cloud, Sense TV makes it simple and intuitive to see what’s on and find that favourite show.

The Metal Unibody Design Wrapped in a zero-gap aluminium unibody and sporting a brilliant 4.7″, Full HD (1080p) screen, the new HTC One features the latest Android Jelly Bean operating system and LTE network technology to offer blazingly-fast browsing in a package that combines premium design with breakthrough build quality.

Available in stunning silver and beautiful black, the sleek and crafted aluminium unibody sits comfortably in the hand and showcases HTC’s unique antenna technology, which helps people achieve a crystal clear signal. The display also resists scratches and reduces glare, whilst offering incredible 468ppi resolution and rich, natural colours.

Review of Assassin’s Creed III The Tyranny of King Washington DLC episode 1 The Infamy

AC3_DLC_SP_15_Frontier_RatonWolfLead[1]

This three-part single-player experience will let gamers discover an alternate history of the events following the American Revolution where George Washington has succumbs to the temptation of infinite power and crown himself king.

In the first episode of the Tyranny of King Washington series, our hero, Ratonhnhaké:ton, awakens from an unsettling dream to find that, despite his efforts to deliver justice in the newly-founded United States of America, a new king has been crowned – George Washington. The Infamy will take gamers through the beginning of the journey to dethrone King Washington.

Ratonhnhaké:ton awakes in a familiar place, but everything has changed. Caught in the middle of violence and confusion, he finds himself confronting the Mad Kind – George Washington.

And that is how part one starts – Ratonhnhaké:ton wakes up next to his mother, and immediately he senses that something isn’t right – after all, she’s supposed to be dead! He doesn’t quite know what’s going on but he senses everything is different. He isn’t Connor, he never became Connor, he is Ratonhnhaké:ton.

From then on it’s classic Assassin’s Creed III gameplay – going from mission to mission, fighting, killing, rescuing and getting that bit closer to the Mad King. This whole part is set in the Frontier, so will seem familiar, but different.

AC3_DLC_SP_14_Frontier_GeorgeWashington_online

There is even a sequence were you have you use a cannon, yes, you read that correctly, a cannon to stop the approaching armies. And did I mention horseback riding?

There is a nice sequence around the mid-point of the episode where Ratonhnhaké:ton’s mother gives him something of his fathers and goes to explain what they are what his father one – obviously we know all about these items and so does Ratonhnhaké:ton, even though he can’t quite explain why. It’s the classic “suiting up” sequence from any heroic story and it’s nice to have some familiar weapons to help the struggle.

Ubisoft said that this story is considered Canon, and this certainly helps to ensure that this is the case.

One thing that is new to this DLC is that each episode will give Ratonhnhaké:ton a new ability which will help him throughout all the parts of the story and transform the gameplay into something new. In order to receive each new ability, Ratonhnhaké:ton has to visit the Sky World and complete a task and upon successful completion he will receive his new ability.

AC3_DLC_SP_21_Frontier_Invisibility3_online

in The Infamy, the new ability is called The Wolf Cloak and this gives him the power of invisibility. There is a lot of stealth elements needed to complete this part and the Wolf Cloak proves invaluable. However it does come with a price – while it is being used your health will slowly reduce, so if you are not careful the cloak will stop working at the worst possible moment and you will have no health left so it will be fairly easy to die!

The other ability the Wolf Cloak brings in the Wolf Pack. This ability sends forth a pack of invisible wolves which will go and attack anything in range. This is not only great for dispatching a large group of enemies, but also for helping with distractions.

AC3_DLC_SP_21_Frontier_Invisibility2_online

There are numerous missions throughout part one with names such as “Sky World Journey”, “One Man Wolf Pack” and “Path of Revenge”.

If you play a lot of Assassin’s Creed III, then the first thing you will probably notice, other than the fact Connor isn’t Connor, is that the art style is much grittier and darker. This is used very well to show how different this “reality” is, and added to that the music for this part is amazing, and really adds to the atmosphere. There is a sequence in the game (I’m not going to spoil it by saying which one, but you will know which one I am referring to when you get there – trust me) that literally made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Once again the music is composed by Lorne Balfe and he has done a wonderful job.

The addition of the new abilities really adds to the game – and with each part you get a new ability and you will be able to use them together. And I am really pleased with how Ubisoft handled this new timeline – they could have just taken Connor and put him in this new timeline without any thought for the Assassin’s Creed story, but they have really given it a lot of thought and I am pleased with the outcome.

And like any good episodic story, this one ends on a cliff-hanger!

The Infamy will take you somewhere between an hour and a half to two hours to finish, with the all three parts taking around 7 and a half hours. It is important to remember that even though it is split into three episodes, it’s really one 7 and a hour story, so keep that in mind when you consider buying it. The Betrayal, which is episode 2 will be available on March 19th, but more on the soon, with the final part, The Redemption out in April.

I have tried to steer clear of giving too much of the storyline away because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone – I really enjoyed part one, and like any multipart story it can be a little slow at times, but that doesn’t detract from the enjoyment at all, and I can’t wait to play the other parts to see how the story progresses.

If you are a fan of Assassin’s Creed III, then this is a must have addition, with the only frustration being that you have to wait for the next parts once you get to the end of this one.
