Using the Headphones

Once the headphones are charged you need to connect them via Bluetooth to whatever device you want to use them with. This is very easy – all you need to do is power the on and go to the device and look for Jam Transit Touch Headphones and pair them.

CDW Review - JAM True Definition Wireless Headphones - 25

All of the controls are handled on the right headphone – you can adjust the volume up or down by touching the side and rotating your finger. You can pause and play by tapping it, you can move tracks by swiping.

Final Thoughts

The first thing I noticed when I took the headset out of the box was that is folded up relatively small, and I was happy to see that there was also a cloth bag included to keep it safe and protected.

Out of the box the headset is already charged so you can use it straight away. When you do need to charge it though a full charge takes around 3 hours and is charged via USB. You can get around 12 hours of constant use out of that 3 hour charge so you shouldn’t run out of battery during the course of normal use. If you do though there is a Aux-in cable supplied that can be used to connect the headset directly to whichever device you want to use so that you can continue to listen to them until such time as you can recharge the battery.

The headset itself is very comfortable – I used it for a number of hours without needing to take it off for a break. It is also adjustable for that perfect fit.

As I mentioned earlier, the controls are all via touch, with the exception of the on / off button. This means that you won’t accidentally knock them. They are easy to control with a single finger, although it does take a little getting used to just how much pressure you need to use (not a lot) to action whichever control you want.

The sound quality is excellent, even with the quietest of sources I could still hear everything perfectly.

You can also use the headset for hands-free calling if you need to as well.

The JAM Transit Touch Wireless Headphones are available now in either Black or Gun Metal Grey, priced £79.99.

Review: World of Tanks: Xbox One Edition

World of Tanks is now available on the Xbox One, and its time to roll out our review.

WoT_Xbox_One_Launch_Screen_Image_01

World of Tanks has been around on PC for a number of years now, and has a huge following. About 18 months ago, Wargaming released an Xbox 360 version too, but it’s only now they have released a version of the Xbox One.

World of Tanks is an online free-to-play multiplayer historically accurate tank combat game that puts you firmly in control of a tank on the battlefield.

I’ve played a little bit of World of Tanks on the Xbox 360, and one of the things I didn’t really like was that you were just sort of thrown into the deep end and you had to figure everything out for yourself. This I know put a lot of people off, myself included, so I was very happy to see the inclusion of a new feature called Proving Grounds which basically helps new players get to grips with their tanks, but also has something for existing players.

WoT_Xbox_One_Launch_Screen_Image_06

The first thing I noticed once I started playing was that the graphics are much better on this Xbox One version as compared to the Xbox 360. Obviously you would expect this, but it would have been just as easy for Wargaming to have ported World of Tanks as is, but thankfully they rebuilt the game to take advantage of everything the Xbox One has to offer.

One thing I was really happy to see was the inclusion of cross-play – basically you can play against other players regardless of whether they are playing on the Xbox One version or the Xbox 360 version – smart move Wargaming!

WoT_Xbox_One_Launch_Screen_Image_10When you first start out you have a fairly basic tank, you have to earn upgrades, or you could just buy them, but it is certainly a lot more fun, and satisfying to get them the old fashioned way – although this will take time, a lot of time. There are a lot of different types of tanks to choose from, so make sure you try out as many as you can until you find the one you like the most.

Wargaming have added a weather system into the game which not only makes the game look better but it can change up the gameplay.

If you are expecting a tank game where you just go charging ahead expecting to shoot everything that you are going to be in for a very short experience, because you will basically be destroyed and you will be out of the game. World of Tanks makes you think strategically before making your move – but don’t worry, you can shoot, just think about where you want to be first.

At the end of the day, World of Tanks is free, so you can download it, and give it a try for yourself – go on, what have you got to lose? See you on the battlefield!

You can learn more about World of Tanks on the Xbox One from the Wargaming website.

Review: LeapFrog LeapBand Activity Tracker

The LeapBand from LeapFrog is the first wearable physical activity tracker designed just for children that encourages active play and healthy habits while nurturing their very own personalised virtual pet – and here is our review.

CDW Review - Leap Band - 7

The LeapBand activity tracker gets kids moving and having fun with 50 different activities and challenges, tracking a child’s physical movements so the more active a child is, the more points they earn with their virtual pet. As the child earns points through active play, they can unlock additional games, challenges, levels of play and virtual rewards for their on-screen pet.

LeapBand has an aspirational fit-band style designed with kids in mind. High-tech features include a built-in accelerometer, high-resolution colour screen, rechargeable battery and water-resistant design, making it the ultimate activity wearable for kids. The device also doubles up as both a digital and analogue watch.

Final Thoughts

The LeapBand comes with eight different customisable pets from LeapFrog’s popular Pet Pals franchise – a cat, dog, dragon, monkey, panda, penguin, robot and unicorn – which can be customised by colour and name. With your pet you can play any of the 10 preloaded games and challenges, with an additional 40 challenges available for free, so out of the box you will have enough to keep you, or rather your child, happy.

They can unlock each of the pets and earn virtual toys for them when they play some of the mini-games, including Pet Chef, Pet Salon and Pet Boogie. They have to feed their pet, which includes learning about healthy snacks and nutrition, plus they have to bathe and groom them too.

There is also a downloadable companion app, which is free, called Petathlon which can be downloaded on a LeapPad Ultra, or any iOS or Android device. Using Petathlon, they can compete their pet in a series of mini-games to win things for their pet.

The LeapBand itself is very hard wearing, it can take a knock so don’t worry about it getting damaged by accident, and it’s also water resistant just in case it ends up in the bath!

The strap fits snuggly, but comfortably around a child’s wrist and the strap is adjustable too. The buttons are each to use and the screen is nice and clear, and there are also audio instructions too.

And you don’t need to worry about your child playing with the LeapBand all the time as you can set School Time and Quiet Time modes so that you can control when they are not allowed to play with it.

The battery life is very good and the LeapBand can be charged using the USB cable provided in the box.

And apart from all the games and fun they can have, it can also display the time, so it can be used to teach them how to tell time too!

The LeapBand is available now for £29.99 and is available in green, pink, blue and orange, and is a great learning and activity tool for children aged 4 – 7 years.
