We recently previewed the new SEGA game Aliens: Colonial Marines – now here’s our Let’s Play part two.

Aliens: Colonial Marines begins with an ostensibly abandoned ship, the U.S.S. Sulaco, recovered in orbit around LV-426. Players lead a group of highly trained United States Colonial Marines as they board the deserted craft to uncover the fate of the crew. They will have to fight to survive unspeakable horrors and their own anxieties as they chase down the truth behind a galaxy-spanning deception that places humanity at the mercy of the most murderous and deadly species in the universe.

I will warn you, the game itself has turned out to be very disappointing, but more on that in our review shortly.

Here is Let’s Play part two:

And don’t forget to check out part one if you missed it.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is developed by Gearbox Software and is published by SEGA, and is available now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC and coming soon for the Wii U.

Crysis 3 – Becoming Prophet Part 1 : Archery

2

IMG_1467

EA Games are about to release Crysis 3 to the world and to prepare myself I recently took part in some urban archery in order to learn one of the most important skills to becoming Prophet – how to handle a bow.

The evening of urban archery took place in London’s Old Vic Tunnels, which are situated under Waterloo train station.

To mark the launch of Crysis 3, EA Games have given media the opportunity to try their hand at archery instructed by Olympic archery team star Ben Humphrys. Held at the Old Vic Tunnels, London on 7th Feb 2013. To mark the launch of Crysis 3, EA Games have given media the opportunity to try their hand at archery instructed by Olympic archery team star Ben Humphrys. Held at the Old Vic Tunnels, London on 7th Feb 2013.

These tunnels are fairly dark, very cold and damp, and you can hear all the various noises of Central London happening overhead – it certainly made for a unique experience.

We were given an initial demonstration from one of the UKs youngest and most experienced archers – Ben Humphrys who represented Great Britain at the Junior Europa Cup back in 2010.

Unfortunately we were not able to use the compound bows that they were using for the demonstration, instead we used more traditional bows.

IMG_3587

We each took turns shooting a number of arrows at our targets – with each person having to decide whether they were going to aim for 100 points (the smallest target area) or one of the other target areas. Because every arrow counted I figured I would do my best to go for the 100 points with each arrow – and with a little guidance I let loose my volley.

And here is me looking rather pleased with myself because I managed to win the gold medal for scoring the highest number of points in our group of archers. I would like to say it was skill, but frankly it was all luck. And unlike Prophet, I didn’t have anyone trying to kill me.

I’m really looking forward to Becoming Prophet Part 2 – I just need to find someone to loan me a Nanosuit.

Powered by Crytek’s proprietary CryENGINE, Crysis 3 advances the state of the art with unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay. Players take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilize a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.

Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces. In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL’s covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet’s quest for retribution.

Crysis 3 will be released on February 22nd in the UK and February 19th in the US for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Video: Making of STAR TREK The Video Game

_bmUploads_2013-02-12_1392_Enterpris[1]

Three years ago, shortly after the massive worldwide success of the re-imagined film version of Star Trek, the creators of the upcoming STAR TREK The Video Game began their journey to bring an entirely new adventure to gamers.

At the heart of every Star Trek adventure are two unforgettable heroes: Kirk and Spock – and just as their cooperation drives the story of Star Trek on screen, it needed to form the core of the video-game experience, says Brian Miller, executive producer of STAR TREK The Video Game, which will be released April 26.

“Kirk is this brash cowboy character, whereas Spock is the exact opposite – and when you break down Star Trek to those elements, you had to make a co-op game,” Miller says. “There was no other game we could possibly make.”

In a new video feature released by Paramount Pictures, Miller explains more about the creation of STAR TREK The Video Game and the co-op play that gamers will experience in it.

Here is the video:

canyon

The popular Scribblenauts series has sold more than five million units to date – making it one of the most successful video game franchises.  Created and developed by 5TH Cell, Scribblenauts Unlimited is available today for PC via Steam.

Scribblenauts Unlimited fosters unlimited creativity, unbounded exploration and fun, social elements that create an original experience for fans of all ages. The game features a huge side – scrolling open world with high – definition, hand – drawn scenery and objects where players can help the game’s hero, Maxwell, solve robust puzzles and challenges by summoning any object they can imagine.  Players also learn the backstory of Maxwell’s parents, his twin sister Lily, and how he acquired his magical notepad.

Scribblenauts Unlimited includes a new “Object Editor” feature that elevates the game’s creativity by giving players the same tools as the developer to make, name, and then share their creations online.  Players can create their own objects from scratch or customize any object in-game by setting properties for how it behaves, and can change its appearance by resizing, disassembling and altering its texture and color.
