EA Games are about to release Crysis 3 to the world and to prepare myself I recently took part in some urban archery in order to learn one of the most important skills to becoming Prophet – how to handle a bow.

The evening of urban archery took place in London’s Old Vic Tunnels, which are situated under Waterloo train station.

To mark the launch of Crysis 3, EA Games have given media the opportunity to try their hand at archery instructed by Olympic archery team star Ben Humphrys. Held at the Old Vic Tunnels, London on 7th Feb 2013. To mark the launch of Crysis 3, EA Games have given media the opportunity to try their hand at archery instructed by Olympic archery team star Ben Humphrys. These tunnels are fairly dark, very cold and damp, and you can hear all the various noises of Central London happening overhead – it certainly made for a unique experience.

We were given an initial demonstration from one of the UKs youngest and most experienced archers – Ben Humphrys who represented Great Britain at the Junior Europa Cup back in 2010.

Unfortunately we were not able to use the compound bows that they were using for the demonstration, instead we used more traditional bows.

We each took turns shooting a number of arrows at our targets – with each person having to decide whether they were going to aim for 100 points (the smallest target area) or one of the other target areas. Because every arrow counted I figured I would do my best to go for the 100 points with each arrow – and with a little guidance I let loose my volley.

And here is me looking rather pleased with myself because I managed to win the gold medal for scoring the highest number of points in our group of archers. I would like to say it was skill, but frankly it was all luck. And unlike Prophet, I didn’t have anyone trying to kill me.

I’m really looking forward to Becoming Prophet Part 2 – I just need to find someone to loan me a Nanosuit.

Powered by Crytek’s proprietary CryENGINE, Crysis 3 advances the state of the art with unparalleled visuals and dynamic shooter gameplay. Players take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York, only to discover that the city has been encased in a Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. The New York City Liberty Dome is a veritable urban rainforest teeming with overgrown trees, dense swamplands and raging rivers. Within the Liberty Dome, seven distinct and treacherous environments become known as the Seven Wonders. This dangerous new world demands advanced weapons and tactics. Prophet will utilize a lethal composite bow, an enhanced Nanosuit and devastating alien tech to become the deadliest hunter on the planet.

Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces. In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL’s covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet’s quest for retribution.

Crysis 3 will be released on February 22nd in the UK and February 19th in the US for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
