Ashley Roberts dons the Crysis 3 Nanosuit to become Prophet

1

1

A few days ago I posted about my attempts to becoming Prophet in preparation for Crysis 3. What I didn’t have was a Nanosuit. Well, former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts did have one!

Ashley’s suit took a staggering six hours to create and was bodypaint.

2

I think we can all agree that she certainly looks better in it than I ever could!

Set in 2047, Prophet is on a revenge mission after uncovering the truth behind Cell Corporation’s motives for building the quarantined Nanodomes. The citizens were told that the giant citywide structures were resurrected to protect the population and to cleanse these metropolises of the remnants of Ceph forces. In reality, the Nanodomes are CELL’s covert attempt at a land and technology grab in their quest for global domination. With Alien Ceph lurking around every corner and human enemies on the attack, nobody is safe in the path of vengeance. Everyone is a target in Prophet’s quest for retribution.

Crysis 3 will be released on February 22nd in the UK and is out now in the US for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Play as Gandalf, Gollum, Legolas, Sauron and more, forming memorable and unlikely alliances with and against friends. Gamers can connect with other players via an in-game voice communication system, as well as access to a comprehensive online stat and leader board system where they can track friends’ victories and defeats, and more. Now available at select retail stores and via download for Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network.

As a powerfully motivated Goblin, Snaga is hungry for flesh and stubborn enough to browbeat anyone or anything to get exactly what he wants. Snaga joins the epic character roster in Guardians of Middle-earth, with Season Pass holders having free access to him and one more Guardian as part of the pass; additional purchasable content is set to be released as well.

The Guts of Gears Multiplayer video for Gears of War: Judgment released

Microsoft and Epic Games today unveiled a new “Gears of War: Judgment” video entitled “The Guts of Gears – Multiplayer,” giving fans a look at the new multiplayer modes,  weapons, in-game rewards and gameplay updates that will make it the most intense “Gears” game ever when it launches in the UK on 22nd March.

ffa_gondola_pax_01_thumb1

In the new video, everyone’s favourite smart-ass hero, Lt. Damon Baird, walks gearheads through four multiplayer modes, and showcases fresh ways to take down the opposition with new weapons, grenade types, and more.

The details covered in this video include a sampling of the biggest and most exciting updates coming to “Gears of War: Judgment” multiplayer, but there is much more to come, so stay tuned in the coming days and weeks heading into launch for more juicy info.

Here is the video:

Multiplayer Modes:

Highlighted in the video are the following four multiplayer modes, with more to be announced as we get closer to launch:

  • OverRun:
    • OverRun marks the first time that class-based competitive multiplayer has been introduced into the “Gears of War” series. Think of it as a combination of the popular Beast and Horde modes pitted against each other. OverRun is a 5v5 attack/defend game type, where the COG are always defending, and the Locust are attacking… and you have an opportunity to play both as attacker and defender to determine the winning team.
  • Team Deathmatch:
    • In this returning fan-favourite, two teams of five players start with a shared pool of respawns. The goal is to take out your opponents and deplete their respawns before your own pool is gone. Perfect for “Gears” veterans and new recruits alike, Team Deathmatch has everyone battling to be the last squad standing.
  • Free-For-All:
    • Free-For-All is an “every player for themselves” Deathmatch mode. No teams mean shoot anything that moves.  The perfect mode for relieving some stress.
  • Domination:
    • Domination is a 5v5 team based competitive multiplayer mode.  Teams will compete over three rings placed throughout the map.  Control the ring to earn points; the first team to 250 points wins the match.

Armory Updates:

Not only are there new grenades for any situation you might encounter online, but Epic also confirmed that players will have the ability to toss grenades without a windup – including specifically for quick, close-quarter encounters. Adding to the expansive war chest of returning weapons and grenade types, below are six new additions to the “Gears” arsenal:

  • Sticky Grenades: Like Frag Grenades, these cause lethal damage to opponents, except they stick to targets before detonation.
  • Beacon Grenades – The Beacon is a tactical grenade most commonly used by COG Scouts.  It electronically marks all enemy targets in its blast radius, and reveals their position for a short time, even though walls and other obstacles of any thickness.
  • Stim Grenades – The Stim is an extremely useful tool for Medics and those wishing to play a support role in combat.  When detonated, it emits a cloud of medicinal gas that will instantly heal all friendly targets within its radius.
  • Markza: Before the Locust invaded Sera, the people of the COG had spent decades at war with the Union of Independent Republics, and the Markza is one of the UIR’s most infamous weapons.  This semi-automatic rifle is perfect for medium range combat, with a deep clip and an attached scope that extends its effective range and ensures greater accuracy at distance.
  • Breechshot – The Locust are more than just a brute force, and the Breechshot is a shining example of their ingenuity and tactics: the base of the gun is a confiscated UIR Markza that has been converted to inflict massive amounts of damage.  The barrel has a larger bore to support a higher-caliber projectile, and the stock has been retrofitted with a vicious blade making this versatile weapon perfect for short to medium range combat.
  • Booshka – The Booshka is a devastating grenade launcher of UIR design.  It is capable of lobbing smart shells that detonate on direct impact with an enemy, or bounce off walls and other obstacles to detonate off a brief timer.

Rewards:

With “Gears of War: Judgment,” your multiplayer career is always in your control; the better you play, the bigger the payoff. With Prizeboxes, players can earn XP bonuses and exclusive unlocks like weapon and armor skins to get a leg up on the competition.

NVIDIA releases GeForce 314.07 WHQL driver with Crysis 3 support

nvidiaplaceholder1-280x179

The new GeForce 314.07 WHQL driver is now available to download. An essential update for gamers jumping into Crysis 3 this week, 314.07 WHQL improves single-GPU and multi-GPU performance in Crytek’s sci-fi shooter by up to 65%.

Other highlights include sizeable SLI and single-GPU performance gains of up to 27% in Assassin’s Creed III, 19% in Civilization V, 14% in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, 14% in DiRT 3, 11% in Just Cause 2, 10% in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, 10% in F1 2012, and 10% in Far Cry 3.

Rounding out the release is a ‘Excellent’ 3D Vision profile for Crysis 3, a SLI profile for Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil May Cry, and an updated SLI profile for the free-to-play, third-person co-op shooter, Warframe.

You can download the GeForce 314.07 WHQL drivers with one click from the GeForce.com homepage; Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 packages are available for desktop systems, and for notebooks there are Windows 7 and Windows 8 downloads that cover all non-legacy products.

Crysis 3

Following a closed alpha and an open beta, Crysis 3 finally hits store shelves this week, and as you might expect Crytek’s shooter is as graphically demanding and power hungry as previous releases in the franchise. To give your system the best chance of success in the technologically-advanced title, download and install 314.07 WHQL, which improves single-GPU performance by up to 4.7%, and boosts multi-GPU performance by up to 65%.

Paired with a high-end processor, our GPUs hit the levels of performance shown below at 1920×1080, with Very High, maxed-out settings, and 4xMSAA enabled.

If you don’t have a system capable of maxing out Crysis 3, don’t worry, GeForce Experience can automatically optimize the shooter with settings tailored to your PC’s CPU and GPU. These optimal settings maximize image quality whilst maintaining great performance, giving you the absolute best experience. And what’s more, GeForce Experience can notify you of new driver and profile releases, all of which can be downloaded and installed with one click.

Performance Improvements

Our first, all-new WHQL driver of 2013 features performance improvements in seventeen games, measured across our complete range of GTX 600 Series graphics cards. Improvements of particular note include 27% in Assassin’s Creed III, 19% in Civilization V, 14% in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, 14% in DiRT 3, 11% in Just Cause 2, 10% in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, 10% in F1 2012, and 10% in Far Cry 3.

Please note that performance improvements benefit all GeForce GTX graphics cards, though obviously to varying degrees. Showing the level of improvement on every single supported GPU would be fantastic, but sadly this is unfeasible given the number of benchmarks required. For example, for each GPU and game to be tested take a before and after reading to show the level of improvement, then multiply the number of tests by the number of resolutions, three, and then again by the number of different detail levels and anti-aliasing modes. Then, finally, to verify the results, run everything again. With so many GPUs in our lineup, even focusing exclusively on the most popular models would prove impossible in the time between a driver being finalized and released.

If you test the changes out at home on hardware not represented below, please share your results with the community via the Disqus comments and the GeForce.com Forums.

Dutch developer Abstraction Games has been appointed to deliver Hotline Miami’s trademark style and gameplay to both PS3and PS Vita via PlayStation®Network under the guidance of Dennaton Games. Hotline Miami will also launch with Cross-Buy allowing gamers to play Hotline MIami on both PS3 and PS Vita with a single purchase. Boom.

“The Devolver Digital team is hyped to see Hotline Miami hit PS3 and PS Vita,” said Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker. “However, this Cross-Buy thing might prohibit me from achieving my long-standing dream of wearing a gold plated PS Vita around my neck. Total bummer.”
