THQ Nordic, Produced in Association with Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and Oasis Games Limited today announced that it is releasing the game “Monkey King: Hero is Back” as well as the special “Hero Edition” version of the game for PC and PlayStation 4 on October 17, 2019. Players can pre-order the game from PlayStation Store .

On PS4, THQ Nordic will be distributing the digital and physical Standard Edition, as well as the the digital version of the Hero Edition, with digital preorders starting today, on August 14 2019.
The game is based on the thrilling Chinese action fantasy movie “Monkey King: Hero is Back” that was released in theaters in 2015 and tells the story of a young boy named Liuer and his adventures with the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, who is released after having been imprisoned for 500 years. Known by movie fans worldwide as one of the premier examples of Chinese animation, the movie went on to set a box office record for animated movies in China at the time, grossing more than 160 million EUR upon its release.
With “Monkey King: Hero is Back” for PlayStation 4, Sony Interactive Entertainment has teamed up with Oct Animation Studio, the studio behind the movie’s breathtaking visuals, to create a game faithful to the look and feel of the movie.
Like the movie, this action-adventure game tells the story of the young monk Liuer meeting his hero Sun Wukong, but places the focus on the Monkey King himself while also introducing players to various stories and subplots not found in the movie. Together, Sun Wukong, Liuer, and Pigsy embark on a journey of adventure, while deepening the bonds of friendship between them. Players assume the role of Sun Wukong and use his mystical skills and abilities to defeat the assorted foes before them. The game immerses players in the middle of their own tale of adventure, while also enabling them to experience the rich and deep story the beloved movie is known for.
The “Monkey King: Hero is Back” Hero Edition features the main game plus the season pass, consisting of two additional stories available as DLC (“Uproar in Heaven” and “Mind Palace”), 2 in-game costumes for the protagonist (Tuxedo and the Dasheng Doll), as well as special items that can be utilized within the game.
The preorders for both editions on PS4 will begin on August 14 2019. Additionally, the PS4 versions will feature a special bonus for those who pre-order the game: two exclusive game modes (“Paradise” and “Desperation”), and a PS4 theme.

DC and WB Animation have been on a role of late and I have been thoroughly enjoying the adaptation of some of my favourite DC Comic stories from Justice League to Reign of the Supermen and now for their 35th Animated feature film, which is staggering looking back over the years, and the 13th in the new connected DC animated universe, the attention has moved to one of the most celebrated and for me personally, one of the greatest Batman stories in Jim Lee’s and Jeph Loeb’s ‘Hush’. I was worried however in how one of the best stories for the Dark Knight and the introduction of one of this best Villain’s could be adapted for an animated feature but from the trailer, it certainly looked good enough to give it a fair chance.
Batman: Hush follows after the events of ‘Reign of the Supermen’ and focuses on the world of Gotham’s protector Batman, voiced again by Jason O’Mara. The story opens with Bruce Wayne at a party being all the Bruce Wayne he can whilst Alfred is speaking to him via a very obvious Bluetooth headset when he notices Selina Kyle is also at the party, leading to possibly the fastest example of story exposition yet in the animated DC Universe, as Thomas Elliot is introduced as Bruce’s closet childhood friend. This feels rather rushed as an introduction as he has never appeared in any of the other films in this connected universe but then it can be allowed as we never really see the Bruce Wayne side to Batman in these films either. Just as Elliot heads off to bring them some drinks, Alfred interrupts again to report that Bane has kidnapped a child and Jim Gordon is about to deliver the ransom giving Bruce the opportunity to leave the party and suit up to help save the boy. His sudden need to go disappoints Selina but then she herself receives a text message summoning her and she also makes her exit.
This is where the first change from the original comic series happens with Bane not Killer Croc being responsible for kidnapping the child which still works with the story well enough to only make the change noticeable to those who know the original story, anyone new to it with this animated film wouldn’t know the difference. As Batman takes out the low-level thugs guarding the child, Bane suddenly attacks Batman who along with Alfred on comms, notices that Bane is not being his usual hyper intelligent self and instead is all aggression as he screams about the ransom money. Putting it down to a side effect of his new Venom formula and after a brief fight, Bane is put down in very epic badass Batman style. With the child safe another villain steps out of the shadow, Lady Shiva who has watched the entire encounter clearly waiting for a chance to speak to Batman. She comes to him asking for help, that someone has used the Lazarus pit and not Rhas Ah Gul to which Batman responds to say he will look into it. As Batman goes to meet with Gordon, Catwoman suddenly snatches the ransom money forcing Batman to chase her but during the chase a mystery person in the shadows uses a sniper rifle to cut Batman’s grapple line causing him to fall to the ground hard which heavily injures him.
Many of the changes that had to be made to bring this story arc to life in an animated film work very well for the story such as Bane replacing Killer Croc and having Catwoman and Batgirl defending the injured Batman from a group of thugs before Alfred can call on Thomas Elliot, a world renowned brain surgeon to help save Bruce Wayne by removing the skull fragments from his fractured injury. Having Batgirl and Catwoman rescue the fallen Batman instead of Huntress keeps the circle of characters to those fans will know from previous animated films to avoid having to introduce and expand the current DC animated universe too much so the focus can remain on the main story arc instead.
This is where I find myself having to stop comparing this animated adaption to the original comic book run simply because so many of the changes are simply to allow the story to be told in the running time of just 82 minutes because having to bring 12 comic books to an animated film would simply have made this a two film story instead of one, and I almost wish they had made this a two film story because so much of what makes Hush such a fantastic Batman story, is the intricate way in which the villain Hush is so carefully seeded in the shadows as he unpicks Batman’s and Bruce Wayne’s world. Whilst this film still manages to do that to a certain extent, it lacks the delicacy of certain moments by stripping it down enough to keep the core points for the film and to adapt it for this film.
Those core points include following the mystery of who this mysterious villain in the shows is and why so many of Batman’s rogues are all active starting with tracking down Poison Ivy who controlled both Bane and Catwoman which takes Batman and Catwoman to metropolis. This leads to a very fun encounter with Superman, who is also under the control of Ivy, with one of the better Batman Vs Superman fights you will see in some time. It also led to an extra scene this adaptation is able to use with Batman paying a visit to Lex Luthor with a very well written scene which sees the arrogance and ego of Luthor kept in check By Batman.
The one element that almost threatens to overshadow the actual Hush element is the romance between Batwoman and Catwoman which is the pay off for all the flirting and will they wont they style aspect to their relationship int his animated universe. The playfulness such as the opening with Alfred and Nightwing almost teasing Bruce Wayne about his need to have his own life outside crime fighting more than hints to this romance blossoming. Nice touches with Batman almost enjoying the challenge of chasing Catwoman at the start of the film to how Selina Kyle has feelings for both Bruce and Batman, which at the start of the film she did not know they were the same person. Once she knows the secret, fans finally get to see how their relationship could work as Selina moves from the grey area she inhabits as Catwoman to joining the Batfamily which brings with it some of the more lighthearted moments for the film.
The lighthearted moments are needed for dark moments from the original story are kept if still adapted a little so lose some of the nuance of the original comic book moments. Hush takes his time in the comic books to get under Batman’s skin and into his head whilst pushing him to his very limits of his own code of not killing. For this animated story however, one particular moment feels very much rushed as believing Thomas Elliot to have been murdered by Joker, Batman beats him to a bloody pulp before having Jim Gordon force him to stop strangling him to death. This sequence whilst very dramatic a powerful to see Batman that close to the edge of becoming what he has dedicated his life to protect Gotham from just lacked what I loved about the slow gradual build that a comic book run can deliver.
That said, for the short run time an animated film can have, I will give the script writer Ernie Altbacker managed to compact a very complicated comic book run into this adaptation, and though it loses some of the complexity of the original story and the ending twist lacks the finesse as the comic books, it is still one of the best DC animated story in this DC universe collection.
A very fun watch that manages to keep the vital elements together whilst compromising for the adaptation, Batman: Hush is another example of just how brilliant the DC Animated Universe is, and while I do wish they could have followed the original story completely even if it meant having a two film story just as the Dark Knight Returns managed to have, this is still an excellent addition to any DC fan’s Collection.
Batman: Hush is out now on Digital, DVD and Blu-ray with a special Steelbook and Mini-fig editions.
Publisher Deep Silver and developer Codemasters today revealed a new gameplay trailer for GRID ahead of its Oct. 11 launch on PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One family of devices, including the Xbox One X.
The new trailer tears through corners across a sampling of GRID’s gorgeous streetside race locations, following spoke-to-spoke packs of competitors through the vibrant blocks of Havana, twisting mainway of Barcelona, glistening stretches of rain-slickened night roads, and more.
The first entry into the mainline series in five years, GRID is a triumphant revival of Codemasters’ acclaimed franchise celebrating a range of competitive racing styles and car classes. GRID lets drivers forge their story the way they prefer throughout their career via its dynamic Teammate, Rival and Nemesis systems, through which drivers can hire commandable on-track allies and elevate conflicts with their most despised competitors as they see fit.
Former Creative Assembly developers at independent studio Tower Five today announced that their story-driven fantasy action-strategy game Lornsword Winter Chronicle is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this Fall.
Lornsword Winter Chronicle combines real-time strategy gameplay with an engaging narrative and a direct and action-based control system designed with a gamepad in mind. Players take control of Corun, a young Lornknight placed in command of the small fortified town of Tulza in the southern province of the Lorn Empire. Explore a desolate, harsh world of snow and ice where clashes with rival factions are commonplace in the quest for dominance. In order to build your army and military strength, you’ll have to erect bases, gather food, and earn money to keep your forces adequately stocked.
Battles are fast and frenetic as combatants clash on a dynamic battlefield. Lornsword is a world where blades and bayonets clash with the dark magic of priests and shadow weavers, and where skilled range attacks by arrow or matchlock rifle deal damage from afar.
Drop-in local co-op allows players to bring in a friend to face the onslaught of oppressors. Players can diversify their attack strategy as they mete out battlefield justice up close and personal with their hero or summon their soldiers to attack a specific target in heated clashes.
All of this is supported by a rousing orchestral score by Hungarian composer Thomas-Adam Habuda, whose previous work includes promotional music tracks for 20th Century Fox’s ‘Alita: Battle Angel‘ and more recently Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame‘.
As any good tactician knows, an army marches on its stomach; resources to feed, equip and finance an army can be expanded through exploring the vast landscape and capturing farms and gold mines. A delicate balance is essential to time spent on exploration, resource management and combat.
“We at Tower Five love real-time strategy games, yet the genre has struggled to make the move to consoles, as gamepad controls were ill-equipped for many of the genre classics”, said Renaud Charpentier, Game Director at Tower Five. “That’s why we rethought from the ground up how a strategy game would work. Now you have direct control of your Lornknight, while also having to manage resources and command a larger army. It’s a lot to take in, but having to care for your specific avatar and throngs of units ensures that there’s never a dull moment.”
Coinciding with the console launch, Lornsword Winter Chronicle will come out of Steam Early Access, unleashing the full adventure upon PC players.
Players currently enrolled in the Xbox Insider Program can participate in previewing and providing feedback on the Lornsword Winter Chronicle demo in an initiative which began August 12th.
Developer Rampage Games today announced GENESIS, a brand-new Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) experience optimized for controllers. Players will jump into an epic battle between the gods and mankind across a futuristic world.
Developed for strategy and action enthusiasts, GENESIS is a next-generation console MOBA with its gameplay specifically designed around controllers. The control system brings a breath of fresh air to the genre on consoles, making navigation more intuitive, precise and effective. On the one hand, players will benefit from built-in automation features such as an innovative targeting design. On the other hand, a controller is the ideal device to offer additional convenience features which include releasing directional skills, blinking, or quickly switching between abilities and items.
“We really wanted to bring a true MOBA experience to consoles,” said Ray Zhu, Executive Producer at Rampage Games. “The biggest challenge, of course, was building the gameplay system for controllers. Keyboard and mouse have their advantages, but based on the feedback we received from our testers, I am confident we are equally prepared and players will feel right at home in GENESIS.”
Besides the controller-based approach, GENESIS is a MOBA that covers every desired aspect. The right tactics will make the difference between victory and defeat in the competitive Player-versus-Player (PvP) battles. Here, teams of five fight for control of the galactic battlefield to win glory, new weapons and equipment. With a rich roster of 28 original heroes, countless character customization options, and a single-player story mode (PvE), there is a seemingly endless amount of possibilities for players to explore. Additionally, another highlight is the co-op conquest mode, where two local players share control of the same hero!
Last but not least, developer Rampage Games will bring stunning visuals to their consistent Sci-Fi world through the power of the Unreal Engine 4; offering one of the most beautiful and detailed MOBAs on a console platform.
GENESIS will be available free-to-play for PlayStation 4 on August 13th in North America and on August 14th in Europe. More information about the game can be found on the official website at http://www.genesismoba.com/.

Final Thoughts
A very VERY long time ago when I was a kid I had something similar to the PJ Masks Superloop called Race and Chase. There were two cars, one was a Police car and one was a robbers car, we can lots of fun playing with it. Well, my Dad spent hours putting it together and taking it apart after we had played with it, but I like to think he got something out of it too!
Now it’s my turn to spend time putting together the PJ Masks Superloop for my son to play with, and I have to say it really is fun putting it together with him excitedly waiting to play it. He is a huge fan of PJ Masks and he loves playing with car toys so this was a win win for me!
The track comes with about 6 meters worth of components to build up whatever you want, including bridges, chicanes and more.
There is room to race two cars on the track, and this comes with the Gecko Mobile and the Cat Car (yes, I have sat through a lot of PJ Masks). I was surprised, and a little disappointed that it didn’t come with Owlette, but then she has the Owl Glider so it wouldn’t really work on the track.
Racing the cars is a lot of fun, press down the button and the cars speed off. I hadn’t forgotten the tense moments when you didn’t know if the car was going to come speeding off the track at a corner, and those moment are still there. There is even a turbo button to increase the speed, if you dare! The cars headlights even light up making it fun to race in the dark.
The PJ Masks Superloop set from Kids@Play is huge amount of fun and brought back some really great memories for me as a kid, and the fact that my son can now experience something similar with something from one of his favourite TV shows is brilliant. If you have a child who loves PJ Masks and is into cars and racing games, then this is an absolute must have! Get it now and put it away for Christmas – or test it out a little just to make sure it works before you you give it to its new owner.
A PlayStation Alarm Clock you say – let’s take a closer look.
This arcade alarm clock is in the design of a PlayStation controller. It’s a great gift for gamers, or even just someone who longs for the trill of an authentic alarm clock rather than their iPhone’s ‘radar’. This isn’t all about style over substance, though. This gadget is USB powered, has a reverse LED screen with a backlight and makes classic beeping alarm sounds.
What’s in the box?
The box contains the clock, a manual and a USB cable.
A Closer Look
The first thing that drew me to the PlayStation Alarm Clock was that it look exactly like a PS4 Controller on a stand. Part of the controller has a backlit LED screen which shows the date and time on when connected to power via the USB cable.
Setting the date and time is simple – press and hold the X button and then use the D-Pad to set everything – simple.
To set the alarm you press down on the Circle button and do the same again with the D-Pad to set the alarm. Once set a little bell icon is displayed on the screen.
When the alarm goes off you can choose to turn it off or snooze and get some more sleep – the choice is yours.
If you are in the market for a cool alarm clock, then look no further than this! This is a must for any PlayStation fan.
With the recent release of Toy Story 4 at the cinema, we take a look at the Toy Story Hamm Piggy Bank from Firebox.
Hamm’s existence provokes many a question about the rules of the Toy Story universe. You see, while it would not stop a child playing with it, a piggy bank is not a toy. Children also play with cardboard boxes, umbrellas, scarves, staple guns – anything they can get their hands on.
This Hamm piggy bank is an adorable tribute to Toy Story’s most underrated character.
Hamm looks exactly like he does in the films, and is a decent weight but not too heavy. This means you can sit him somewhere and not worry that he will get knocked and broken.
The underside of Hamm has the stopper which can easily be removed in order to get at the money you have placed in him.
If you, or someone you love is a fan of Toy Story and you need a money box, then the Toy Story Hamm Piggy Bank is a definite edition to any household – it might even save you money (see what we did there)?
