HSS BULK UPLOAD

This is a great feature for those people who have a lot to initially backup and may have a poor internet connection. What it does is allow you to backup your selected files to a local USB hard drive and then you post that drive to the HomeServerSync Data Center who will upload those files for you.

You can also request a bulk download as well.

I would imagine there will be a charge for this service, but it is very useful to have this option if you need it.

SYNC MANAGER / VPN

This feature is currently disabled in the beta however I have been using the VPN beta for a little while now and its great.

FILE RESTORE

Ok, so its great backing up, but what if you need to do a restore?

Just click on the Restore button and choose the files you want to restore, click to add them to the Recover list and decide if you want to restore them to the original location or a new location of your choosing.

THE WEB SERVICE COMPONENT

So what if you want to recover a file on a computer outside of your home? Well that’s where the web service component comes into play.

Just visit the website, sign in with your account and you can access your files and see other information on your account, including disk usage.

The file is then downloaded in a zip file to wherever you specify.

When you open it, if you have enabled encryption you will be asked to enter a password (this is your account password).

There are some other tabs on the web component, including an alerting one.
