As such, if you have a mobile phone, tablet, or gaming device that you wish to use on a bigger screen, then this is the option for you.

Console docks such as JSAUX’s Steam Deck accessory are fantastic. However, if you have a small workstation or you travel a lot, you may not wish to be weighed down by more peripherals. The braided material allows it to be flexible whilst still protecting the internal components. Alongside this, the aluminium connectors are robust and easy to handle.

On top of this, the cable is designed to prevent overheating, and this ensures optimal performance at all times. My only gripe is the 6-foot length. I’d have preferred something more substantial as it increases usability and makes it more versatile. Yet, in its current format, it is suitable for many day-to-day tasks.

Review: Sonic Superstars

Sonic Superstars delivers a healthy dose of nostalgia-infused action. Consequently, if you are in your 40s or older, or you adore old-school Sonic titles, then this will appeal to you. Thankfully, this modern take on the classic 2.5D platform was extremely well conceived. As such, this is an ideal title for veterans and newcomers alike.

This fast-paced and colourful affair was developed by Arzest and Sonic Team and published by Sega. Furthermore, it can be played alone or locally with 3 others. As such, you can team up with your friends or your loved ones as you collect every ring, save every creature, and thwart Dr Eggman’s dastardly plans.

The team are all together.
Which member of the team will you pick?

Sonic Superstars is surprisingly straightforward. 

Though the action is hard to keep up with, I loved every crazy moment. No matter which character you picked, the gameplay was surprisingly straightforward. In retro fashion, you must move from point A to point B whilst exploring as much of the level as possible. However, this isn’t so easy as you are flung through the air, chucked through tunnels, and made to do the loop the loop. On top of this, there are enemies and traps to avoid, and special areas to discover. 

The story focuses on the untouched NorthStar islands. This beautiful archipelago catches Dr Eggman’s eye. Accordingly, he hires Fang the Hunter to capture the inhabitants to enhance his robotic army. Yet, Sonic, Tales, Knuckles, and Amy will not go down without a fight. Subsequently, they must use their skills to overcome the obstacles and save the day.

A never-ending roller-coaster. 

Sonic Superstars travels at a relentless pace from beginning to end. Alongside this, there are 12 zones comprising 26 acts of eye-watering madness to overcome. Each area has special obstacles, and platforming mechanics that ensure you never get bored. Moreover, there are secret areas and special levels that hide each character’s Chaos Emerald. There are 7 of these gems to collect and each of them empowers you with new skills. 

I won’t spoil it for you, but unlocking these abilities allows you to explore every area in greater detail. Additionally, it makes each playable character more enjoyable to handle, so I suggest finding every portal. 

Alongside the main story is the ability to challenge each of your friends. Here you can play locally or online as you compete to be the champion. There are plenty of game modes on offer and if you are victorious, you can customise your robot to highlight your gaming prowess.

A trip down memory lane. 

The healthy dose of familiar gameplay should have held this back. However, Sonic Superstars has created a wonderful blend of dated mechanics and modern madness. Consequently, it captures the brilliance of 90s adventure platform titles whilst adding a modern twist.

On top of this, the gameplay is challenging, creative, and easy to pick up and play. Therefore, it is the perfect experience for families or a small group of friends. What’s more, though, the action is relentless, and it never outstays its welcome. Subsequently, I adored every boss battle and the plot twist that ensures you come back for more.

Sonic Superstars is beautifully polished.

I was amazed at how well the developers captured the original essence. Every aspect of the visuals brings back wonderful gaming memories. Furthermore, the exceptional level design and wonderful sprites are a treat. Additionally, the vivid colour palette and smooth animation are something to behold. In short, this is brilliantly retro with a stunning modern finish. 

The audio is just as good. Not only does it revisit the original ideas, but it reinvents them as well. I adored the upbeat tunes and the OTT sound effects. However, it can occasionally be overwhelming. As such, I’d recommend keeping the volume down to get the best experience.

Awesome controls. 

What made Sonic so special was its intuitive controls. Luckily, Sonic Superstars retains this approach. Accordingly, it has awesome controls that are easy to understand and simple to pick up. Yet, unlocking new skills adds a degree of difficulty to the mix. Subsequently, it isn’t a walk in the park and this keeps you focused. 

This title hides many secrets. What’s more, there are some pleasant twists to the gameplay. As such, if you are a completionist, you’ll discover some additional content that others may miss. Alongside this, the multiplayer action is addictive and mindless. Therefore, there is plenty of replay value and longevity. 

Sonic Superstars blows away those blues. 

If you are a veteran gamer, you know that big franchises often become weaker. Sadly, they lose their way and the action becomes diluted. However, Sonic Superstars bucks this trend with its homage to the Mega Drive classic. Consequently, every element is captivating and interesting. Furthermore, the level design is intelligent and you’ll rarely tire of what you see. As such, I cherished it and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you thwart Dr Eggman and his devious plan? Pick your hero, find the secrets, and banish the evil forces.

The Miofive Dash Cam Dual helps you to gather evidence of any car-related misdemeanours. Unfortunately, car ownership and accidents go hand-in-hand. However, what isn’t convenient is when an accident occurs and there are no witnesses to corroborate your version of events. Thankfully, this compact device removes that issue!

Alongside this, you needn’t worry when your car is parked for the night. Thanks to the 24-hour parking monitor, you have peace of mind at all times. Additionally, it matters not what time of day it is. This excellent dashcam will record in low light, at night time, and during bad weather. As such, you know that any accidents will be recorded by this high-end device.

  • The professional packaging catches your eye. Though it is relatively simple, I adored the imagery and the alluring colour palette. Furthermore, it is fully recyclable.

Technical aspects.

A dashcam is only as good as the footage it captures! Thankfully, the Miofive Dash Cam Dual records crystal-clear audio and footage at all times. Furthermore, thanks to the Sony Stravis Night Vision technology, you enjoy accurate and detailed footage during low light. This feature didn’t falter even when I parked in proximity to a streetlight. Luckily, the camera could calculate the amount of light and overcome this issue.

Another fine feature is the G-Sensor. This captures footage whether you are on the move or if you are parked. When the camera detects an impact, the G-Sensor kicks in and the camera records 60 seconds of footage. This is automatically stored on the device and can be viewed directly from the Miofive app. This feature works alongside the night vision to capture any accidents or problems at night.

Alongside this, you can choose to film a time-lapse video if you so wish. Once the ignition is switched off, you may record 24 hours of footage. This is particularly useful if you live in high-footfall areas where you risk bumps, scratches or other elements of vandalism. Thankfully, the videos are compressed and playback at a higher rate. As such, it is easy to scan your video to highlight any issues.

The Miofive app.

I adore a company that provides a free app. Luckily, the Miofive app is free to download, and a cinch to use. The excellent UI allows the greatest of technophobes to get the most out of this device. As you scan through your footage, you can screenshot any offences, take photos, check out your driving routes, and observe your driving history.

This one-stop shop of dashcam information helps to keep things simple. Moreover, as you can download your footage directly to your phone, it makes it easier to present your evidence to the police or your insurance company. Accordingly, it takes the sting out of any accident.

Setting up the Miofive Dash Cam Dual.

I couldn’t be happier with how easy this camera system was to set up. The Miofive Dash Cam Dual requires minimal technical knowledge and a small amount of patience to get things right. Moreover, the adhesive pads ensure that both front and rear cameras stay where they are placed. Subsequently, you won’t get any nasty shocks, as the device falls when you are driving.

The toughest element has to be hiding the cables. Sadly, there is no way around it, as the rear and front cameras must be connected. However, thanks to the supplied pry bar, you can hide the cables behind your trim with no impact on your car’s internal finish.

Build quality.

I was impressed by the excellent build quality. The hardened plastic and tough mounts are built to last. On top of this, they are noticeable without being OTT or garish. Consequently, they will put off any would-be vandals or car thieves. Additionally, the sticky plates are ridiculously strong. As such, once they are on your windscreen, they have to be forcibly removed.

On top of this, the wire placement is well-considered, and this helps to reduce clutter while keeping your visibility clear. What’s more, the excellent touchscreen is responsive and easy to use. In short, if you want a relatively plug-and-play device that is hardy and looks great, then look no further.

Is the Miofive Dash Cam Dual worth it?

The number of cars on the roads is rising. Accordingly, accidents are increasing and insurance premiums are going up. As such, you don’t want your no-claims bonus impacted by a mindless act of vandalism or an RTC. The Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers from Monoprice are incredible. These amazing speakers deliver precise audio and an array of connectivity options, and they look awesome on your desk. Furthermore, I was blown away by the volume, the tonal range, and the punchy and aggressive bass line. As such, these are perfect if you want an immersive gaming or entertainment system.

Alongside this, the sleek black design will impress you. The understated finish delivers a surprise package of mind-blowing proportions. From the moment these speakers were plugged in, I was grinning. Thankfully, my children were out of the house, so I cranked up the tunes and enjoyed every ear-splitting freedom.

Putting together the perfect audio set-up is no mean feat. However, the Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers ensure that you get perfection off the bat. These easy-to-handle speakers require no technical know-how and can be up and running in no time. However, what impressed me most was the audio quality.

Thanks to the dual 4” woofers, the 1” silk dome tweeter, and the 5.25” passive radiator, the tonal range and bass are perfectly balanced. This creates a genuinely special experience that brings any movie or game to life. Additionally, the quality of the audio is something that I’d expect from a much more expensive product.

Build quality.

Alongside the incredible audio, you’ll enjoy some of the best build quality I’ve come across. Each component is made from high-grade material and the housing is sturdy, sleek, and robust. Moreover, the rear panel is easy to navigate and every cable feels secure. Furthermore, the front control knob and the remote control ensure this is a user-friendly product.

Whether you are wall-mounting these speakers or placing them on your desktop, they won’t look out of place. Thankfully, either option doesn’t impact the rear panel or the front control knob. What’s more, changing connectivity modes or adjusting the volume could be done at the press or the turn of a button.

Are the Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers worth it?

During hours of darkness, I have to game with headphones. However, when the kids are out and about, I love nothing more than a high-quality set of speakers. This product blew my mind from the moment I plugged it in! The awe-inspiring audio was next-level, and the usability was genuinely impressive.

Review: Valthirian Arc 2

Valthirian Arc 2 combines 2 beloved genres in a colourful hybrid mishmash. Consequently, the result is a niche experience that won’t appeal to everyone. However, if you love base building and turn-based combat, this will be right up your street. On top of this, if you adore class customisation and the freedom to explore as you wish, then this will tick plenty of boxes.

This strange adventure title was developed by Agate International and published by PQube Ltd. Moreover, this vivid game is jam-packed with monsters and turn-based combat. Additionally, there are treasures to discover, games to play, and quests to complete. As such, there is plenty to keep you busy if you fall for its charms.

Valthirian Arc 2 proves that every day is a school day.

Becoming a hero isn’t always written in the stars. Instead, some of the bravest adventurers learn their skills at leading academies. Unsurprisingly, this is exactly what happens in Valthirian Arc 2. This adventure game highlights the plight of the world and the desire to keep everyone safe from untold evil.

You are the principal of the finest Hero School known to mankind. However, this school has hit rock bottom, and it is severely lacking in pupils, buildings, and teachers. Accordingly, you must act like a Phoenix from the flames and rebuild this once-renowned establishment. If you are successful, you’ll save the day, make money, and train the best heroes the world has ever seen. Furthermore, you’ll attract new teachers, build the finest structures, and make peace with your rivals.

A game of 2 halves.

Valthirian Arc 2 has 2 distinct elements to its core gameplay. First, there are the base building mechanics. Second, you must undertake quests to ensure you have enough resources to expand your academy. Alongside the latter option, there is turn-based combat, treasure hunting, and plenty of large areas to explore. Moreover, the gameplay is nicely balanced, and this ensures that you can’t go too far out of your depth.

Though much of the action focuses on the exploration mechanics, the base building is essential and well-considered. Your students must refine their trade and learn new skills. However, to get the best out of them, you’ll need to balance work and play. Subsequently, if your team works too hard, they will become exhausted and you won’t be able to undertake any tasks. Alternatively, if you don’t work them at all, they learn no new skills and the action plateaus. Therefore, it is essential to get the balance right.

Diplomacy, combat, and games.

The diplomacy and mini-game elements play second fiddle to the rest of the action. Yet, they are just as important as they change the difficulty level of each region and they help to replenish your team’s stamina. What’s more, the mini-games add a layer of mindless fun that distracts you from the micro-management of every student and the many assets you build.

Alongside this, you must master turn-based combat if you are to succeed. Each hero has an element assigned to their skill set. As such, this must be used to weaken your opponent’s shield. Only warriors with identical skills can undermine their opponents, and this is essential to remember. Consequently, if you get it wrong, you’ll struggle to beat the weakest of opponents, let alone the monstrous bosses that you encounter.

Valthirian Arc 2 is a polished but old-school title.

I loved Valthirian Arc 2’s old-school edge. However, it had a delightful polish that made it stand out from its pixelated peers. Alongside this, the level design is interesting and the small regions are enjoyable to explore. Then there are the varied monsters, the clean and easy-to-follow UI, and the excellent animation. Furthermore, I loved the character portraits, the clean text-based narration, and the loud colour palette.

The audio was well delivered and wonderfully thought out. The blend of dramatic songs and sombre moments creates an enjoyable fantasy atmosphere. Additionally, the occasionally OTT sound effects delivered energy and excitement to every adventure.

An excellent tutorial.

This could have been awful to play! The learning curve is quite steep and mastering the base building elements could have been confusing. Yet, a thorough tutorial and the UI keep you focused on the important moments. What’s more, the easy-to-follow symbols and excellent control layout make it easy to master.

This oozes replay value and longevity. Thankfully, you are free to play this as aggressively or as slowly as you wish. Moreover, you can train your fighters in an array of skills. Consequently, you can tailor make your team and this was an excellent approach. On top of this, you must invest wisely if you wish to upgrade your team and the academy. Subsequently, it is a wonderful balancing act that doesn’t become tiresome.

Valthirian Arc 2 is brilliantly niche.

Combining genres doesn’t always work. However, Valthirian Arc 2 gets things just right. This interesting adventure, base-building hybrid will attract a niche audience. But those people will adore this brilliantly unusual experience. Thanks to the challenging missions, interesting stories, and whacky characters, you’ll fall for its charms. As such, I loved it and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you rebuild the reputation of the academy? Attract new students, appease your neighbours, and remove the threat of evil.

The Malmo standing desk is an impressive piece of office furniture. Not only does it look fantastic, but it is part of Friska’s micro desk range. Accordingly, this is the perfect option for anyone that is short of space. Alternatively, maybe you don’t want an enormous desk monopolising your space. Either way, you cannot go wrong with this stunning desk.

Alongside this, Friska is renowned for its quality and incredible customer service. Whilst ordering this desk, I wasn’t let down on either aspect. Thankfully, the helpful sales team is there if you need them at every stage. Alongside this, the postage is unbelievably quick. As such, I received my desk 2 days after I completed my transaction.

Once I opened my eco-friendly packaging, I instantly noticed the immense build quality of this streamlined product. Furthermore, every inch of this desk is made with high-end materials and the attention to detail will impress you immediately. Moreover, putting the desk together is straightforward, even if you hate DIY.

  • The desk arrives in 2 eco-friendly packages. First, there is the desktop and any flat accessories. Second, you are provided with the framework, including the motors, screws, and tools.
  • The Malmo standing desk is available in an array of colours. I chose a black frame and a 900 by 600 black desktop. Alongside the varied colour palette, the micro desk range is available in an array of compact sizes.
  • A construction guide and user manual talk you through the basics.

Putting the desk together.

Constructing a desk may seem a daunting task. However, the Malmo standing desk can be done alone with limited DIY skills. Luckily, most of the holes are pre-milled and most of the tools are provided for the job. Yet, an impact driver or decent screwdriver is required to attach the motor and the control panel.

Though this is a small standing desk, I recommend a decent-sized space to make things easier. Furthermore, it is advised to use the packaging to reduce the risk of damage. As this product comes pre-drilled, putting it together is a cinch. As long as you are patient and you take your time, you cannot go wrong. Accordingly, I had my desk built in around 20 minutes.

Technical aspects.

Whenever I see a standing desk, I worry about lifting capabilities, the maximum standing height, and the safety of the motors. Whenever moving parts and pets or kids mix, there are normally tears before bedtime. However, the Malmo standing desk has this covered. Thanks to the anti-collision technology, there is minimal risk of pinching or forceful impact. As such, if the motors detect a sudden opposing force, they retract by 50mm to release anything that may become trapped. This was incredibly reassuring as mistakes happen and no one wants to get injured because of user error.

This piece of furniture impressed me with its lifting capabilities! If you include the weight of the desktop, this mini desk can push up to 100 kg without a sweat. This was fantastic, as it allows you to use heavy desktop speakers, a full-sized monitor, and other office paraphernalia without compromise.

Alongside this, the range of movement from sitting to standing was exceptional. At its lowest, you’ll experience a comfortable 707 mm to the working surface. However, at its tallest, you can comfortably work to an 1177 mm standing position. Consequently, the difference of 470 mm ensures that you can easily work both seated and standing to reduce fatigue, stress, and soreness in your hips and lower back.

The build quality of the Malmo standing desk.

I was blown away by the quality of this product. The exceptional dual motors are sturdy, strong, smooth and quiet to use. Accordingly, whenever the desk is lowered or raised, you experience no more than  48 dBA. As such, this won’t distract your colleagues if you work in a busy office. Alongside this, the rest of the framework felt strong, and the paintwork was smooth, even, and untarnished.

Thankfully, the same can be said for the compact desktop. This slender and streamlined option will catch your eye. I loved the sleek black finish. Moreover, the pre-drilled points ensure that your desktop is ready to go from the off. Though there were no holes for the motor or the control panel, I appreciated the ability to select the most appropriate position.

When constructed, you have a professional workspace that can be used in the most compact locations. Accordingly, the Malmo standing desk is ideal for small flats, tight office spaces, or for awkwardly designed cottages.

An array of accessories to purchase.

Friska offers an array of accessories to purchase with your desk. As such, I picked a Kloven cable port and the Nyborg anti-fatigue standing mat. The cable port can be fitted to the desk in an array of places. Consequently, you can keep your workstation clean and presentable. Alongside this, the hardened plastic is easy to manoeuvre, and the gap allows plenty of wires to use the same port.

The Nyborg anti-fatigue standing mat was a game-changer. I love the science behind the standing desk revolution, and this standing mat takes things to the next level. Subsequently, whenever I combined a standing position with this luxurious mat, my body felt relaxed and the normal pressure on my lower back and hips was reduced.

Is the Malmo standing desk worth it?

Review: Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is a niche game that will be avoided like the plague. However, other than its unattractive title, I fell for this indie game’s increasingly bizarre charms. Yet, I admit, I didn’t fancy playing this game. Not only did the title put me off, but I didn’t fancy an all-singing and all-dancing affair. However, I’m happy to admit that my first impressions were unbelievably naïve, and I loved every moment.

What’s more, if you love musicals and visual novels, this loud, striking, and endearing experience will capture your attention from the opening moments. As such, once I got over my unnecessarily biased mindset, I adored the strange story and the modern take on Greek mythology.

I love a good dramatic story. Accordingly, whenever I get my teeth into a decent book or visual novel, I struggle to put it down. Luckily for me, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical has enough depth and drama to get under your skin. What’s more, the colourful characters and many plot twists will keep you entertained even if the core gameplay remains the same throughout.

You play the part of Grace. She is a college dropout who wishes to make something of her life. Yet, she didn’t expect something to be as wild and outlandish as what develops in the plot. When she is granted the power of a Muse, her world is turned upside down. Accused of her predecessors’ murder, Grace must clear her name and find out who the perpetrator is. However, with time ticking away, she must make tough decisions and decide who to trust and who to shun.

Friendships, singing, and more singing.

I loved the combination of mythological idealism and modern settings. Furthermore, the interesting characters and the way they interact with the protagonist and each other will make you grin, scowl, and laugh. Yet, it is the excellent decision-making and the varied songs that keep you going. Throughout each playthrough, you are responsible for every branching moment. Consequently, you are forced to pick a personality trait, find friends, and define your own story.

Along the way, the action is wonderfully punctuated with some genuinely interesting songs. Each musical number captures the mood to perfection. Moreover, they progress the story whilst highlighting the relationships that have been forged and the paths you have taken. Accordingly, you’ll enjoy new songs depending on the choices you make and the people you associate with.

It’s a visual novel.

Though the developers don’t say it, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is effectively a visual novel. As such, if you want fast-paced action and limited reading, then this won’t be the game for you. On top of this, if you hate musical theatre, you’ll probably want to give this a wide berth.

Alternatively, if either of these things floats your boat, there is no doubt that you’ll cherish every cliched, bizarre, and awe-inspiring moment. Furthermore, the musical numbers are incredible and the flow of the core story is nicely balanced with the madness that unfolds.

I love clean lines and vivid colours. Additionally, I’m a sucker for comic books and the in-your-face artistry. Subsequently, I fell for Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical incredibly bright and attractive graphics. On top of this, the varied backdrops were incredible and each unique chapter kept me coming back for more. Alongside this, if the glitz and glam of the theatre gets your juices flowing, you’ll go mad for the OTT nature of every interaction.

Though there will be some complaints about the musical numbers, I couldn’t find fault. The blend of sombre and melancholy tunes was juxtaposed by some upbeat and amusing songs. Moreover, the acting helps to enhance the modern take on some beloved Greek characters. Therefore, I was invested in how the story unfolded and the relationships that were forming.

Simple controls.

This is a laid-back title that doesn’t demand too much of you. However, you must pay attention whenever there are decisions to be made. Yet, even at critical points, you’ll rarely feel panicked. Consequently, this allows you to absorb the story and enjoy everything that unfolds.

The core story remains the same during every playthrough. Now, this may disappoint you, but it shouldn’t. Thankfully, there are enough subplots and plenty of characters to interact with. As such, if you fall for its madness, there is loads of longevity and replay value.

Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical won’t be for everyone.

I like a divisive title. Whenever a game breaks an audience, you get a healthy debate surrounding its pros and cons. Subsequently, Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is one of those Marmite titles that won’t be for everyone. I, however, couldn’t stop playing as I enjoyed the weird musical numbers, the excellent writing, and the marvellous plot. Accordingly, I loved it and I recommend that you buy it here! Will you find the truth and be accepted? Choose your path, pick your friends, and sing until your heart bursts.

Chants of Sennaar is a stunning title. This linguistic affair will capture your imagination and blow you away with its touching aesthetic. Moreover, it parodies real life. Therefore, the action is uncomfortable, yet reassuring. As such, it is easy to lose yourself in this harsh example of ignorance and reconciliation.

This linguistic puzzle title was developed by Rundisc and published by Focus Entertainment. Moreover, the story highlights how issues between cultures are usually skin-deep. As such, you’ll adore every unique civilisation and the ability to bring them together through conversation and kind gestures.

Chants of Sennaar tells a wonderful story.

Chants of Sennaar proves that a great story doesn’t need complex layers. Instead, this focuses on basic linguistic skills and everyday problems. Moreover, as the plot progresses, you learn that minor gripes can be resolved as long as you are willing to work together. This basic concept should have been underwhelming. However, I adored how it was integrated into the setting and the variety of cultures you encounter.

A tower that houses multiple civilisations looms in the distance. However, these people do not work together, nor do they wish to resolve their differences. Yet, legend has it that an unnamed hero will reconcile the cultures and bring harmony to their home. You play the part of this hero as you explore each level and break down unnecessary barriers.

Stunning puzzles.

Where Chants of Sennaar excels is its combination of puzzles and storytelling. I adored the drip-fed lore, the amazing problems, and the incredible characters. Every level of the tower is filled with life, worries, and obstacles. Furthermore, it is your responsibility to talk to every citizen to uncover the mystery behind each language.

As you talk to each individual, you’ll piece together the unknown nature of each verse. Every symbol you see corresponds to a word, and it is your responsibility to work out the meaning of each one. As you complete each page, the game progresses at a gentle pace. Moreover, the more you explore, the greater your understanding of each culture becomes.

What I loved about each problem was the ability to solve them without delving into every nook and cranny. If you were able to identify the meaning of each symbol, you could resolve the issue and move on. However, you were not penalised for taking your time and this allows you to absorb every culture.

Stealth mechanics were a poor choice.

I adored nearly every element of Chants of Sennaar. However, the inclusion of stealth mechanics was a poor choice. Luckily, though, these moments are few and far between, and this was a good thing. Disappointingly, every time I had to hide in the shadows or sneak between walls was tedious. Furthermore, if you are caught, you’ll sigh as you have to restart that portion of the game. Alongside this, this mechanic isn’t as subtle or captivating as the other layers. Consequently, you go through the motions without much thought or care.

Exploring every layer of the tower was fascinating. Thanks to the varied backdrops and the interesting characters, I never tired of what I saw. Additionally, the excellent UI and the wonderful puzzles were eye-catching and easy to look at. On top of this, I loved the unique languages on offer and the subtle differences between each one. Subsequently, each level delivered fresh material that kept you coming back for more.

The hostile nature of the environment and the standoffish emotions of the citizens are captured in the atmospheric audio. The varied soundtrack is brilliant to listen to. Whether it is a folksy upbeat song or an aggressive and sinister tune, it helps to create a captivating atmosphere. Alongside this, the sound effects were underwhelming but interesting.

What is hidden behind those doors?

Easy to pick up and play.

The idea of playing a linguistic title could be tough to swallow. However, the easy-to-understand tutorial is straightforward and simple to follow. Consequently, once you understand the basics, the only thing to do is explore the world and help the locals.

Each layer of the tower is full of life and people to interact with. Accordingly, there is plenty to see and do. Therefore, Chants of Sennar will keep you busy if you want to uncover every aspect. However, you can rush through if you don’t want to hang about. Either way, there is plenty of replay value and longevity.

Chants of Sennaar took me by surprise. Its incredible storytelling and wonderful setting blew me away. Furthermore, I loved its aesthetic and easy-to-understand concepts. Alongside this, it can be mounted on a solid or plasterboard wall. However, word of warning, you cannot surface mount this device. Consequently, you will be required to sink this into an existing wall to install it correctly.

On top of this, the internal connectors securely hold your cables. This was essential, as a loose wire will ruin your audio experience. Furthermore, this reduces the risk of fire, as the power cables will not budge once installed.

This snazzy device brought a smile to my face. Not only does it look great, but it is easy to use and simple to set up, and I adored its multi-format compatibility. Review: Salomon Thundercross shoes

The Salomon Thundercross shoes prove that trail running can be as comfortable and stable as running on a road. Furthermore, the wonderful build quality and well-considered running position ensure that these are great for amateurs and professionals alike.

Alongside this, I adored the lacing system, the striking colours, and the wonderful fabric finish. However, the slightly tight sizing is something to keep in mind. Consequently, you may wish to up your size to prevent pinching or hotspots. Furthermore, these all-rounder trail shoes work perfectly on light gravel, heavy mud, or tarmac sections. As such, they are great for multi-terrain events.

What’s in the box of the Salomon Thundercross shoes?

  • The understated packaging won’t fill you with excitement. However, it is sturdy and can be recycled. Additionally, the contents are well protected in transit.
  • The Salomon Thundercross shoes look fantastic! They are available in multiple colours, and I was lucky enough to receive the Plum Kitten version.

Technical aspects.

Picking the correct running shoe is a minefield! First, you must understand your gait, and from here you need to know how you strike the ground, how often you’ll be running, and what terrain you will tackle. What’s more, do you want a fabric shoe or one made from GORE-TEX? Luckily, the Salomon Thundercross shoes tackle many of these problems with their well-considered design.

This neutral running shoe focuses on comfort and grip. Additionally, the maximal cushioning, 4mm drop, and standard shoe width are familiar and ideal if you are a seasoned runner. However, if you tend to heel strike, the smaller drop may cause you an issue. As such, you’ll need to look at an alternative such as the Speedcross 6.

Let’s slide on to another fine feature.

Trail running is thwarted by dangers. Yet, whilst wearing these shoes, I experienced minimal slippage thanks to the 5mm lug depth. It didn’t matter if I was trekking through mud, gravel, or fields, I experienced a reassuring grip throughout. Moreover, the comfortable and snug ankle collar lies just below your ankle and this prevents rubbing or chaffing.

Another incredible feature was Salomon’s Energy Foam cushioning. This understated but game-changing material reduces vibration whilst increasing energy return. What’s more, it feels softer than traditional running foam and it reduces the weight of your running shoe. Consequently, these feel amazing no matter how long you wear them.

How well do the Salomon Thundercross shoes perform?

Hitting the trails can be a chastising experience. However, the Salomon Thundercross shoes help to reduce fatigue and impact throughout your body. What’s more, the incredible grip and stable core help you to confidently tackle every obstacle you face. Alongside this, the slider lacing system was a genius idea! No one likes to stop and do up their shoelace. As such, this simple but secure setup allows you to set your tension and get on with your day.

During my testing, I encountered puddles, rain, sunshine, wind, and plenty of mud. Throughout all of this, the shoes held up perfectly. However, sadly, they quickly became saturated with water. Yet, this didn’t impact usability or comfort. Furthermore, the shoes dried quickly without deforming the shape or the support structure.

Build quality.

No matter what running shoes you buy, you want them to last. Thankfully, the Salomon Thundercross shoes are extremely well-built. The deep lugs and rubberised outsole appear hardy and robust. Moreover, the unusual lacing system can be roughly handled without concern of damage or breakages.

On top of this, the moderately sized toe box is ideal as long as you do not have wide feet. I found the insole to be comfortably placed, and I didn’t experience any pinching or hotspots. What’s more, my feet were secure even when my socks were soaked. Consequently, I didn’t suffer from any blisters, nor did I bruise any toenails. Accordingly, these shoes are perfect for short races, walking, or endurance events.

Are the Salomon Thundercross shoes worth it?

I have adored my time with the Salomon Thundercross shoes. These phenomenal trail shoes give you so much confidence that your pace will increase and your enjoyment will go through the roof. Additionally, they munch through horrendous terrain without a care in the world. Consequently, you’ll carve through mud, gravel, and fields without breaking a sweat. Alongside this, the interesting lacing system and energy foam cushioning make these shoes stand out from the crowd. Therefore, I recommend that you buy them here!

Review: Smurfs 2 – The Prisoner of the Green Stone

The Smurfs 2 – The Prisoner of the Green Stone is a title aimed at children and adults alike. As such, it has its fingers in many pies. Consequently, this makes for a complicated and drawn-out experience that sadly outstays its welcome on occasion. Yet, if you love all things Smurf and you adored the previous iteration, then you’ll love what’s on offer.

This 3D adventure title was developed by Osome Studio and published by Microids. Moreover, it is colourful, has oodles of platform elements, and loads of challenges to complete. Furthermore, there are loads of fights, an unlikely partnership, and a misunderstood creature. Accordingly, there is plenty going on in the Smurf-filled experience.

The Smurfs 2 – The Prisoner of the Green Stone tells an unlikely tale. 

For as long as I can remember, The Smurfs and Gargamel have been enemies. However, in this latest adventure, they must put their animosity to one side as they work together to save the world. This strange partnership is full of surprises and plenty of crazy creatures.

Handy Smurf cannot stop inventing bigger and better tools. Subsequently, when he discovers a magical stone that’ll improve every creation, he has to get his Smurfs on it. With his SmurfoMix in hand, he sets off to Gargamel’s hovel. Yet, unbeknownst to him, he is about to set off an unlikely set of events. By breaking the green stone, Handy Smurf releases an all-mighty entity known as Stolas. This enormous creature does not wish to be captured again and only the Smurfs can save the day.

Familiar mechanics.

Sadly, The Smurfs 2 – The Prisoner of the Green Stone offers little originality. Accordingly, the game is laced with familiar mechanics. As such, you are expected to dash past obstacles, leap over chasms, avoid hazards when sliding, and shoot any enemy you find. Alongside this, you must destroy every green crystal you encounter. 

To add some depth, the developers have incorporated 4 different types of ammo for the SmurfoMix. There is one that destroys the green crystals, a sticky honey version, a laser rifle, and an orb that repels objects. Each of these bullets is used to kill your opponents and solve minor puzzles. Subsequently, completing each massive realm is easier said than done.

Challenges and upgrades. 

The level of depth doesn’t stop there, as each realm has an array of challenges that must be found and completed. These testing endeavours will push you to your limit and must be revisited once the SmurfoMix is at full power. 

Upgrading your equipment is essential as the creatures and challenges become tougher. By destroying every green crystal and finding the humming plants, you can unlock new abilities and increase your firepower. 

The Smurfs 2 – The Prisoner of the Green Stone looks Smurfy. 

Visually, The Smurfs 2 – The Prisoner of the Green Stone delivers. Not only does it look Smurfy, but I love its colour palette, interesting stage design, and character models. Alongside this, Gargamel retains his creepy look and Stolas is your textbook cartoon menace. As such, fans of the series will adore what they see. 

The audio, on the other hand, doesn’t fare so well. Unfortunately, the repetitive sound bites are obnoxious and annoying. Additionally, as much as I love the “Smurf” language, too much Smurf is a Smurf, Smurf, Smurf, Smurf, if you know what I mean. Effectively, the audio is too repetitive, and this will drive you nuts.

An easy game to master. 

Where this excels is the easy-to-master controls. This was a stroke of genius by the developers, as it’ll ensure younger players can progress without too much guidance. Moreover, the excellent UI keeps the screen clear, and this allows you to focus on the mountain of combat encounters. 

What frustrated me, however, was that every level outstays its welcome. Accordingly, each area should have been broken down into manageable chunks to prevent tedium from kicking in. Yet, if you can look past this issue, there is plenty of replay value and longevity. Furthermore, completing every challenge will take next-level skills, so best of luck.

With such a wide audience to appease, I’m not surprised that The Smurfs 2 – The Prisoner of the Green Stone plays it safe. Unfortunately, though, this approach lacks originality and prevents it from truly excelling. Subsequently, it won’t appeal to everyone and that was a shame. Yet, despite its flaws, I enjoyed it and I recommend that you buy it here! Will the partnership with Gargamel work? Complete each area, befriend Stolas, and save the day.
