Assassins Creed Unity Exclusive interview with Lesley Phord-Toy

Ubisoft recently took us to Paris to take a look at Assassin’s Creed Unity – in this interview we talk to Lesley Phord-Toy, one of the producers.

His pursuit will throw him into the middle of a ruthless struggle for the fate of a nation, and transform him into a true Master Assassin.

Lesley is a producer at Ubisoft Toronto working on Assassin’s Creed Unity with 12 years of experience in the video game industry.

An engineering graduate from the University of Waterloo, Lesley started her career in R&D developing visual effects software at Sony Electronics in Los Angeles. By 2002, Lesley decided to follow her passion for videogames and moved back to Canada to join the game industry. Since then, she has played key roles in creating and shipping a wide variety of titles ranging from family-friendly games, to AAA blockbusters, most recently helping deliver the critically-acclaimed Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Blacklist.

Designing Levels in Assassins Creed Unity with Nitai Bessette

Ubisoft recently took us to Paris to take a look at Assassin’s Creed Unity – in this interview we talk to Nitai Bessette, the Toronto Level Design Director.

Nitai joined the Ubisoft Toronto studio in 2010. He’s worked in the roll of Level Design Director on three of Ubisoft’s largest franchises with a particular focus on cooperative and adversarial gameplay.

Nitai oversaw the design and production of half of the playable city of Paris, and all of the mission content created within those areas.

Assassins Creed Unity learning about history with Maxime Durand

Ubisoft recently took us to Paris to take a look at Assassin’s Creed Unity – in this interview we talk to Maxime Durand, Ubisoft’s in-house historian.

Graduated in History from Universite de Montreal in 2010, Maxime Durand has been counselling and coordinating at Ubisoft on every Assassin’s Creed game from close or afar since Revelations.

His expertise supports the whole game process; from overall narrative arches, to gameplay animation or precise architecture details.

Bruno has been has a mission designer on the Assassin’s Creed brand for the last 6 years, for a total of 8 years in the game industry.

Over his career Bruno has been part of TMNT, Shaun White Snowboarding , Assassin’s Creed I, II, Brotherhood, Revelation & Liberation

Currently Mission Design Director on ACU, he is responsible for the Single Player campaigns missions. He has the mandate to bring a fresh new feeling into the Mission design and making sure the game offers a lot of variety and a great player experience throughout the campaign.

Nicolas Guerin has been in the industry for 10 years and a passionate gamer since forever.

Throughout his career, Nicolas touched on almost all aspects of the design, switching from Game to Level design on popular franchises such as Army of Two, SSX and Assassin’s Creed.

On the AC franchise for almost 5 years, Nicolas specializes in Open World construction and World building, from the geography of sprawling urban environments to the details of its inhabitants and all their peculiar stories.

On ACU, Nicolas had in charge to create with his team an incredibly detailed, deep and accurate city of Paris, through the bigger than life events of the French revolution.

Creating the Art of Assassins Creed Unity with Mohamed Gambouz

His pursuit will throw him into the middle of a ruthless struggle for the fate of a nation, and transform him into a true Master Assassin.

Mohamed has always had a passion for video gaming. Throughout his high school years, he worked on RPG/Action games for the Amiga 500 along with his friends. Mohamed holds a B.Sc degree in Plastic Arts from the Lycee Technique of Casablanca, which is where he is from.

Only 17 years old when he was first hired by Ubisoft Casablanca in 1998, Mohamed began his career as a Character Animator. After working on various AAA titles such as Rayman 3, Beyond Good & Evil and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, he moved to Montreal in 2005. He worked on Prince of Persia 3 and Assassin’s Creed 1 as a Senior Level Artist and on Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and now Assassin’s Creed Unity as Artistic Director. Mohamed’s mission for his team is to create an incredibly detailed beautiful and accurate city of Paris.

Andree-Anne Boisvert currently works as an Associate Producer at Ubisoft. She fell in love with video games as a teenager, right after learning Epona’s song.

After completing her master’s degree in computer science, she worked in various production roles on social and mobile games. Her game credits include a wide range of titles from the Petz & Raving Rabbids series, to some of the Assassin’s Creed titles (Brotherhood, Black Flag and Unity) and Prince of Persia.

For the last 2 years, she’s been making the console / mobile boundaries disappear by shipping meaningful companion app experiences for the console games players.

Andree-Anne’s goal is to offer the most immersive experience to Assassin’s Creed Unity players while using their mobile device.
