Calculating the True Worth of Bitcoin: Crypto Quotient

0

In the dynamic realm of cryptocurrency, characterized by rapid fluctuations that can propel digital assets to remarkable highs or plunge them to unexpected lows within moments, the concept of “value” assumes an intricate and distinctive significance. At the forefront of the crypto domain stands captivated attention and fueled conjecture since its inception. Grasping its genuine value entails navigating a multifaceted landscape of interdependent factors that collectively shape its worth. If you’re interested in trading cryptocurrencies, Click here for a reliable platform that prioritizes the security of your digital assets.

The Evolution of Bitcoin’s Value

Bitcoin emerged in 2009 as the pioneer of cryptocurrencies, introducing the concept of a decentralized digital currency. Its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, envisioned it as an alternative to traditional fiat currencies, free from the control of any central authority. Initially, Bitcoin had little to no intrinsic value, but as its adoption grew, so did its perceived worth.

Supply and Demand Dynamics

One of the most critical factors influencing Bitcoin’s value is its supply limit. Unlike traditional currencies that can be printed at will, Bitcoin has a capped supply of 21 million coins. This scarcity creates a sense of rarity and exclusivity, driving up demand among investors. As more individuals and institutions show interest in holding Bitcoin, its value is propped up by the basic economic principle of supply and demand.

Market Sentiment and Perception

The volatile nature of the cryptocurrency market is heavily influenced by investor sentiment and perception. Positive news, regulatory endorsements, or high-profile investments can lead to surges in Bitcoin’s value, while negative publicity or security breaches can trigger significant drops. These rapid shifts highlight the emotional aspect of cryptocurrency trading and the interconnectedness between public perception and value.

Technological Advancements and Upgrades

Bitcoin’s underlying technology, the blockchain, has witnessed continuous developments and upgrades over the years. Improvements in scalability, security, and transaction speed have a direct impact on Bitcoin’s value proposition. Upgrades like the Lightning Network, which aims to enhance Bitcoin’s transaction efficiency, demonstrate its adaptability and potential to address its limitations.

Macro-Economic Factors

Global economic conditions also play a role in shaping Bitcoin’s value. During times of economic uncertainty, some investors view Bitcoin as a “digital gold” and a hedge against traditional financial systems. Economic instability, currency devaluation, and geopolitical tensions can lead to increased interest in alternative assets like Bitcoin, thereby positively influencing its value.

Institutional Adoption

The involvement of institutional investors and corporations has added a new dimension to Bitcoin’s valuation. Companies like Tesla and Square allocating significant portions of their treasury reserves to Bitcoin signals a growing acceptance of it as a store of value. Institutional interest brings not only credibility but also an influx of capital into the crypto space, further boosting Bitcoin’s worth.

Regulatory Landscape

Regulatory developments can significantly sway Bitcoin’s value trajectory. Clarity and acceptance from regulators can instill confidence among investors, while stringent regulations can create uncertainty and lead to price fluctuations. The evolving legal framework surrounding cryptocurrencies adds an element of unpredictability to Bitcoin’s valuation.

Environmental Concerns

The environmental impact of Bitcoin mining has become a prominent topic of discussion. The energy-intensive nature of Proof of Work (PoW) mining has led to concerns about its sustainability. As the world becomes more conscious of environmental issues, Bitcoin’s energy consumption could influence its value as investors consider its long-term viability.

Network Security and Resilience

Bitcoin’s decentralized nature relies on its network’s security and resilience. High levels of network security can bolster confidence in its reliability as a digital asset. Conversely, security breaches or vulnerabilities can erode trust and lead to value depreciation.

Global Adoption and Accessibility

The extent of global adoption and accessibility of Bitcoin also factors into its valuation. While it has made strides in becoming more accessible through various platforms and services, its value could further benefit from broader integration into everyday transactions and financial systems.

Calculating the Crypto Quotient

Determining the true worth of Bitcoin, or its “Crypto Quotient,” involves synthesizing these multifaceted factors. A holistic view takes into account its historical significance, technological prowess, market sentiment, macroeconomic trends, and regulatory developments. The Crypto Quotient is a dynamic metric that captures the interplay of these variables in assessing Bitcoin’s value.

Conclusion

In summary, the assessment of Bitcoin’s valuation is a multifaceted and finely nuanced undertaking. Its value is a product not of a solitary determinant, but rather a result of the intricate interplay between supply and demand dynamics, technological progress, prevailing market emotions, broader macroeconomic patterns, regulatory shifts, and numerous other factors. As the cryptocurrency ecosystem undergoes ongoing transformation, the quest to comprehend Bitcoin’s authentic worth endures as an ongoing journey, sculpted by the perpetual evolution of the digital realm.

Preview: Vexlands

Vexlands is a colourful pixelated adventure that focuses on a basic gameplay loop. As such, this mindless title is wonderfully casual and easy to pick up. However, it is oddly addictive, and I adored the element of chance. Yet, this Early Access title is riddled with game-breaking bugs. Consequently, it was often 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards.

This luck-infused adventure title was developed and published by Apogee Entertainment. What’s more, this pixelated affair has some survival and base-building elements. Accordingly, there is plenty to do, even if the core concepts are ridiculously understated.

Find coins and unlock each tile.
Spend your coins to expand the map.

Vexlands tells a tale of cursed lands.

The action opens with the protagonist standing on a barren tile. Surrounded by a fog of war, the hero must decide which way to turn. However, there is a cruel twist! Each of the surrounding tiles hides a mystery. What’s more, unlocking each space costs gold. As such, you must hope that luck is on your side as you reveal treasure, resources, and monsters.

The Vexlands environment is a horrible and unforgiving place. This cursed world is crawling with monsters. Furthermore, there are dungeons to explore, relics to find, and a mystery to solve. Yet, surviving long enough and finding the right resources is no easy task. Subsequently, you best have the luck of the Irish if you wish to succeed.

Pole dancers grind less than this.

I don’t mind a game that centres around resource gathering. Yet, I don’t want it to monopolise the action. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happens in Vexlands. Every progressive element is determined by the resources you hold. Whether you must sell them to explore further, or whether you need to build new tools or buildings, it all requires resources. This wouldn’t be so bad, however, pole dancers grind less than this game!

As the game opens up, there are other tasks to complete. You’ll be asked to look after animals, explore dungeons, find relics, and kill monsters. Yet, each of these additional tasks is too simple. Consequently, you complete these goals quickly and return to the grind cycle. As such, the action is repetitive but relaxing. Accordingly, though it didn’t challenge me, I enjoyed the casual approach.

This dungeon in Vexlands is hot and dangerous.
Hot, hot, hot!

So many bugs.

Early Access games are renowned for their teething issues. However, this one takes the biscuit. Sadly, every time I played it, I discovered a new problem. Some of the bugs were amusing, but more often than not, they were game-breaking. Consequently, that is not acceptable.

In its current state, you can expect to lose items and become trapped. Additionally, your character progress will be reset or your base will completely vanish. However, these problems pale into insignificance when you consider the multiple data wipes I experienced. Hours of gameplay were lost for no reason whatsoever. As such, every fun layer was washed away by a tsunami of rage and angst.

Vexlands is a pixelated dream.

Though the issues hold it back, Vexlands does a great job with its presentation. I loved the varied landscapes and the often deadly cataclysmic events. Furthermore, the pixelated art style was brilliantly retro. On top of this, I admired the sprites and the simple but effective UI.

The audio delivers a blend of drama and serenity. Moreover, the sound effects were basic but acceptable. The whimsy music smooths over the slower mundane elements of the gameplay. Accordingly, you’ll happily play this for a few mindless hours.

Use a boat to cross the water.
Take a boat to a new island.

Simple controls.

The developer has done a great job with their control system. The early stages work as a soft tutorial to help with the fundamentals. From this point, you no longer need any help as the game unfolds nicely. Alongside this, the inputs are responsive and this helps mitigate some of the grinding elements.

Vexlands uses a seed system for its world map. As such, no playthrough is ever the same. This was a simple but impressive move that enhanced longevity and replay value. However, the unfortunate bugs hold it back. Consequently, the current build is too flawed for anyone to experience everything that’s on offer.

Vexlands could be a great title.

I was impressed and disappointed by Vexlands. The core concept is relaxing, enjoyable, and mindless. Furthermore, I adored the luck-infused mechanics and the vast surrounding world. Yet, I cannot forgive the game-breaking bugs and the flawed action. As such, I’d probably let this cook a little longer before you invest. However, more information can be found here! Can you solve the mystery of this cursed place? Uncover the tiles, gather your resources, and unearth every mystery.

Review: Trust Redoh power bank

The Trust Redoh power bank is a handy and lightweight charging device. Furthermore, its compact size and sleek design ensure it is great for the modern professional. Accordingly, if you need a charging solution that isn’t bulky or cumbersome, this will do the job.

Alongside this, it is designed with the environment at the fore. Created from 50% reused plastic, Trust has done its bit for the planet. Additionally, it has a fantastic power output and it can be charged quickly as well. Subsequently, this ticks many boxes.

What’s in the box of the Trust Redoh power bank?

  • The compact packaging is simple but attractive. Key selling points and nice images catch your eye. Furthermore, it is robust and can be recycled.
  • The Trust Redoh power bank is available in 3 colours. I was provided with the simple but effective black version. This slender device is lightweight and comes with three charging points.
  • A small USB-A to USB-C cable allows you to charge the power bank and any suitable device.
  • Learn the basics with the user guide.

Technical aspects.

A power bank must be simple to use and charge your devices quickly. Thankfully, the Trust Redoh power bank ticks these boxes. The plug-and-play approach ensures a technophobe can use it. Moreover, its 10,000 mAh capacity allows you to extend your mobile phone battery life by up to 46 hours. Alternatively, you can extend your tablet for a whopping 12 hours. As such, you can get more business done without the concern of running out of power.

You may worry about how quickly you can charge your phone. Well, thanks to the excellent 18W quick charging facility, your device will be “fast charged” in no time. On top of this, you can charge 3 items at once. Though the output is slower, this was a handy option. Thanks to the 2 USB-C and single USB-A ports, you’ll be back in the game in no time.

Build quality.

The use of recycled materials was impressive. Built from up to 50% recycled plastic is a great way to help the environment. Moreover, the use of simple colours helps to reduce the environmental impact further. As such, Trust gets a big thumbs up from me.

Not only is the eco approach great, but this device feels nice to hold. This power bank is no bigger than most smartphones. What’s more, the smooth plastic is pleasant to hold. Furthermore, it’s so light that it can slip into your pocket without an issue. As such, this is great if you love the outdoors or you want a professional charging option.

Another feature I liked was the straightforward design. There are no fancy lights or displays. Instead, the simple charge indicator highlights capacity and that’s it.

Safety.

Using a power bank on a plane can be tricky. However, the Trust Redoh power bank is suitable for onboard charging. Additionally, the 10,000 mAh capacity is under most carriers’ maximum threshold. Consequently, you needn’t worry about having this device confiscated at security.

Alongside this, there are many protection features to keep your devices safe. With over-charge, over-load, over-heat, and short-circuit protection, you know this power bank is safe to use.

Moreover, its refined approach is suitable for many modern devices. As such, this is the perfect option for a no-nonsense charging solution. Accordingly, I loved it and I recommend that you buy it here!

Terminator 7: What can we expect to see as writing is confirmed

0

The Terminator movie franchise is arguably one of the most iconic to have ever been created. It is one that most people will have seen, or they will have an idea of what it involves, and some of the famous quotes have been said which have gone on to be used in pop culture.

Given that the first one was released back in 1984, there have been some arguments from many that the franchise has already done everything that it needs to do and has run its natural course. They have argued that it is something that is best left alone and should be preserved before further damage is done, especially after a poor showing at the box office with its latest instalment.

However, that does not appear to have put off James Cameron, as the original creator and legendary director has decided to pen a new script. In doing so, we can expect to see the release of a seventh Terminator film.

Terminator 7: What we know already

While details are still a little sparse on the ground regarding what might happen in Terminator 7, we already know that Cameron will be writing the script for it. In fact, he is already said to be working on it and putting his ideas down on paper. We also know that Cameron will not be involved in the directing process of this film. However, fans would still suggest that his involvement is going to be a huge plus and help the franchise to get back to the heights it once had despite falling from its perch with some of its more recent releases. After all, there is no one else in the world who has a greater understanding.

One major obstacle that Cameron will face when it comes down to writing The Terminator is knowing who will play the main character of the franchise. The lead has famously been Arnold Schwarzenegger, however following the disappointment and the failure of “Dark Fate”, the actor proclaimed that he was finished with the franchise for good and no longer wanted to be a part of it moving forward. Without him involved, Terminator 7 could already face numerous challenges.

The director has also admitted that there could be challenges faced involving the storylines that are used, with him keen to focus on artificial intelligence and move away from cyborgs and robots that have gone bad. This could delay his entire process, as technology continues to evolve and staying ahead can be difficult.

Is Terminator 7 still likely to appeal to fans?

The Terminator franchise is one that still has a lot of pulling power, and this is something that has been experienced across a variety of industries. There have been numerous merchandise to have been sold featuring the movie brand, while plenty of entertainment mediums have utilised the themes of the film series. There have been TV shows, books, video games, and even slots that can be found in the 32red mobile casino collection of movie-themed titles that have proven to be extremely popular with players globally.

While the series has arguably hit a bump and started to become one that should no longer be touched in the eyes of many, the fact that Cameron is involved is going to be enough for many to become interested and watch once it is released.

The director appears to have a golden touch when it comes to creating cinema classics and box office hits, with the Canadian filmmaker having enjoyed huge success in the past with Titanic and the Avatar series. If he can replicate the winning formula he seems to have, then there is every chance that we could see Terminator 7 eclipse the failure that was experienced in the last release.

When can we expect to see Terminator 7 hit the screen?

Anticipation and buzz will have already been generated among the fiercest of loyalists and fans of The Terminator series, with many already eagerly awaiting any update that is announced.

Most will already be looking for a release date to pencil into their diaries to ensure they are among the first to watch it, but they could be in for a long wait. Development of the script is still taking place, meaning it is impossible to film anything at this moment. Also, with the news that Schwarzenegger is done, casting for the titular character is going to also take time.

Don’t expect to see it on the big screen anytime soon.

Review: Wildmender

Wildmender joins a large library of cruel survival games. However, this fantasy endeavour attempts to break the mould. Instead of focusing solely on character progression, this title tries something different. You are expected to grow crops, gather resources, and wield magic. Yet, this may not sound all that unusual. Well, it is when you consider the harsh desert environment and ghastly apparitions you must overcome.

This fantasy survival title was developed by Muse Games and published by Kwalee. What’s more, this can be enjoyed alone or with up to 3 friends. As such, there is plenty of depth and loads of tasks to be completed. Moreover, tackling this game with your friends creates a unique set of challenges. Therefore, you must work together if you wish to survive and uncover every mystery.

Wildmender tells a tale of magic and deceit.

Wildmender does a great job of telling its tale. However, its lore-rich story plays second fiddle to the survival action. This deliberate move by the developers was impressive. Whenever you play this genre, you don’t want an oppressive storyline. Instead, you focus on making it through each day whilst working towards an end goal. Thankfully, this gets that balance just right. Subsequently, you can waste hours without progressing the core story or touching the side quests.

The story is set on a desolate and harsh desert planet. This once-thriving world has been destroyed by magic and lies. Furthermore, the guardians that once protected this place are locked within their altars. Luckily, though, a hero is found beside the last healthy water source. With the help of a confused spirit, the protagonist will bring life back to the planet and right the wrongs of their predecessors.

An example of a stunning garden in Wildmender.
A beautiful garden in a dead world.

Get on your gardening gloves.

Wildmender is obsessed with gardening! Consequently, no matter what you do, everything revolves around your small patch of paradise. The reliance on growing crops and finding plants to progress is apparent from the off. Yet, it isn’t until you’ve died multiple times that you begin to take things seriously. This frustrating but classic survival mechanic was well-considered. Additionally, it is finely balanced with the game’s other key components.

Alongside the gardening is the requirement to find an array of powerful spirits. These friendly ghosts will impart their knowledge in exchange for magical essence. In return, you can learn new skills to enhance your potions, improve your weapons, or build new structures. Accordingly, finding every ghost is essential if you wish to survive.

Exploration.

This barren world should be dull and lifeless. However, the vast plains are filled with buildings, mountains, and secrets. As you explore, you’ll find graves to bless, inscriptions to read, and water sources that must be repaired. Furthermore, there are portals to energise and plenty of deadly weather fronts to overcome. Yet, the danger increases as you tackle scorched lands and poisonous air.

Unfortunately, this is the tip of the shitty iceberg. If the world doesn’t want to kill you, then the army of wraiths will. These cruel and aggressive assholes materialise out of thin air. As such, you must be on your guard at all times. Alongside this, there are deadly outposts to avoid and you must consider the weather and time of day.

Though I expected the cruel environment to kill me, I wasn’t expecting the wind, sun, and storms to be so deadly! If you don’t time your journey correctly, your water, food, and health bars will deplete faster than Usain Bolt running the 100m Olympic final. As such, you must be prepared if you wish to survive.

Tackle every wraith with your mirror.
Use your mirror to defeat the wraiths.

Gameplay.

A good deal of survival games focus solely on the survival aspects of their gameplay. Consequently, as a result, the game plateaus and becomes tiresome. However, Wildmender has a clear progression path that can be followed or ignored. This was great, as there was never a sense of time restraint. Additionally, you can explore freely and prepare your crops however you see fit.

Whenever you tackle the core missions, you are tested throughout. What’s more, other than the cryptic guidance, there is no other form of hand-holding. Subsequently, you must study your surroundings and grow whatever plants you see fit. The same thought process applies to new buildings and equipment. Learning new skills from the ghosts is all well and good. However, you must find the rarest resources if you wish to create the best equipment. Consequently, the action remains finely balanced throughout and there is no opportunity to skip past your dangers or bum-rush each key mission.

Wildmender is beautifully oppressive.

Wildmender has an odd but alluring art style. The rich colour palette and simple graphics combine to create a beautifully oppressive world. What’s more, as you spark life to the desolate landscape, the colours and textures change an otherwise bleak environment. Alongside this, the enormous mountains and towering structures enhance the ominous and depressing nature of a once vivid world.

The depressing and almost desperate atmosphere is supported by a wonderful soundtrack. The blend of sombre and melancholy songs is juxtaposed with some upbeat and often aggressive tunes. Accordingly, the developers have created a sense of loss and hope in their soundscape.

Can you and your friend survive this storm?
How will you survive this storm?

Who’d have thought gardening could be so much fun?

Though this is one tough cookie to crack, the developers have done a great job with their UI. The excellent submenus and radial system are easy to handle and simple to navigate. Furthermore, flitting between your inventory and other items was a cinch. Subsequently, you can eat food, drink potions, and kill wraiths at the press of a button.

Whether you play this alone or with friends, you still get the same addictive experience. Creating a beautiful world from dust is satisfying and rewarding. Additionally, solving the cryptic clues to complete each mission was a fantastic feeling. As such, if you love survival games, but you want something different, you’ll still be addicted while enjoying a magical twist.

Wildmender shouldn’t go undetected.

Indie games are two a penny. As such, many excellent games slip under the radar. However, it would be a tragedy to allow Wildmender to go undetected. This excellent title delivers balanced and enjoyable gameplay mechanics. Furthermore, you get plenty of bang for your buck as you’ll need over 30 hours to complete the main story.

Consequently, I love it and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you create paradise from death and despair? Harvest resources, fight the wraiths, and piece together this once-lush world.

How to make Game Cover Art with an Outsourcing Game Art Studio

0

Game cover art is the first impression players get of your game. It’s the visual representation that can either draw players in or push them away. With the rise of digital platforms and game art outsource studio, the importance of captivating cover art has never been more significant.

But how do you create an attractive cover for a game, especially if you’re considering outsourcing to a game art studio? Let’s get to the bottom of it.

Game art creation process

Game Cover Art – is it important for your project?

Game covers are more than just pretty pictures on a box or digital storefront. So, it’s necessary to understand why game covers are so important.

Game covers serve a variety of purposes:

  • Representation of your game: It provides a snapshot of the game’s theme, setting, and characters.
For example, a cover featuring a knight suggests a medieval setting, while a spaceship hints at a sci-fi adventure.
  • Attraction: A well-designed cover can attract potential players and make them curious about the game.
Think of the iconic cover of “Super Mario Bros.” with Mario leaping in the air. It’s simple, but it immediately conveys the game’s jumping mechanic and playful tone.
  • Branding: It helps in establishing a brand identity for the game, making it recognizable among a sea of other games.
The silhouette of “Assassin’s Creed” protagonist with a hood and hidden blade has become synonymous with the series.

Key Principles for Effective Game Cover Art

  1. Simplicity is Key: Avoid clutter. Your cover art should be easy to understand at a glance. Remember, players often scroll through numerous game titles quickly, so your cover needs to stand out and be easily digestible.
  2. Focus on the Main Character or Element: Highlighting the main character or a significant element from the game can create a connection with potential players.
  3. Consistency Across Platforms: Ensure that your game cover art is consistent across various platforms. This aids in brand recognition.
  4. Test and Iterate: Like any other design process, it’s crucial to test your cover art with your target audience and iterate based on feedback.

Video Game Cover Art: Then and Now

In the early days of the game industry, covers were simple and often hand-drawn. It was a simple representation of the game’s content.

Today, game covers have become an integral part of a game’s image. It’s not just showing what’s inside, it’s reflecting the nature of the game and making it stand out on the shelf or in an online shop.

Making Game Cover Art: Practical Steps

  1. Understand the Game’s Essence: Before you start, know what your game is about. Is it an action-packed adventure or a calm puzzle game? The cover should reflect the game’s core idea.
  2. Sketch Ideas: Start with rough sketches. It’s okay if they’re not perfect. The goal is to brainstorm and come up with different concepts.
  3. Choose Simple Elements: Avoid using too many elements. Pick one or two main elements that represent your game best. For example, if your game is about a brave knight, the knight’s image could be the central element.
  4. Use Clear and Bold Colors: Colors can set the mood. Bright colors can indicate fun and excitement, while darker tones might suggest a more serious game.
  5. Feedback is Key: Show your design to others. They might see things you missed or offer a fresh perspective.
  6. Finalize and Test: Once you’re happy with the design, test it in different sizes. It should look good both as a thumbnail and a full-sized poster.

Simple designs are often more effective. They are easy to understand and remember. When players see a clear and understandable cover, they can quickly get an idea of what the game can be. In addition, simple designs are versatile. They work well for both digital shops and video game packaging (physical boxes of your game).

Outsourcing to a Game Art Studio: The Process

If you’re not a graphic designer, creating a captivating game cover might seem daunting. That’s where outsourcing comes in.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Research and Choose the Right Studio: Look for studios with a proven track record in game art design. Check their portfolios and client testimonials.

Look at their past work and see if their style aligns with your vision.
  2. Clear Communication: Clearly communicate your game’s theme, characters, and any specific elements you want to be included in the cover art.

For example, if you have a game about pirate adventures, you might want the cover to feature a pirate ship, a treasure chest, or a skull and crossbones.
  3. Review and Feedback: Once the studio provides initial designs, review them thoroughly. Provide feedback and ensure that the final design aligns with your vision.

If a game cover design features a pirate with a parrot, but your game has no parrots, point it out.
  4. Finalize and Implement: Once you’re satisfied with the design, finalize it and implement it across all platforms.

Ensure it looks good in various sizes, from large posters to small digital thumbnails.

Avoid overcrowding the cover. Focus on one or two main elements. If you have multiple games or expansions, maintain a consistent design language. It helps in building brand recognition.

Before finalizing, get feedback from potential players. They might offer a fresh perspective.

Benefits of Outsourcing Game Cover Art

  1. Expertise: Outsourcing to a game art studio means tapping into a pool of talent. These game studios have professionals who specialize in game cover design. They bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table.

For example, a studio might have worked on a popular RPG game cover, giving them the experience to design something similar for your game.
  2. Cost-Effective: Instead of hiring a full-time designer, outsourcing can be a more cost-effective solution, especially for indie developers or smaller studios.

For many, especially small game developers, it’s cheaper to outsource than to hire a full-time designer. Think of it like hiring a plumber only when you have a leak, rather than having one on standby.
  3. Time-Saving: With a dedicated team working on your game cover art, the process can be faster, allowing you to focus on other aspects of game development.

This means while they’re working on the art, you can focus on improving gameplay or fixing bugs.

Wrapping up | The Power of a Captivating Game Cover

Game cover art is a small yet significant part of game development. It’s the first thing players see, and it can influence their decision to play.

In the world of gaming, first impressions matter. A captivating game cover can be the difference between a player choosing your game or scrolling past it.

By understanding the principles of effective game cover design and leveraging the expertise of an outsourcing game art studio, you can create a cover that not only represents your game but also resonates with potential players.

Famous Movies That Had Slot Machines in Them

0

Slot machines have become an iconic part of casinos and gambling culture. As such, it’s no surprise that slot machines have made appearances in many famous Hollywood movies over the years. Here is a look at seven popular movies that featured slot machines as part of the setting or plot.

Casino (1995)

Martin Scorsese’s classic Las Vegas mob film Casino is filled with slot machine scenes throughout its 3-hour runtime. The movie takes place in the 1970s and stars Robert De Niro as Sam “Ace” Rothstein, a gambling handicapper tasked with running the Tangiers casino in Las Vegas. Much of the film takes place inside the Tangiers, where rows and rows of colourful slot machines can be seen in the background of scenes. The slot machines help establish the casino setting while characters like Ace and his friend Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) walk through the busy gaming floors interacting with patrons.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014)

The sequel to 2005’s Sin City follows Dwight McCarthy (Josh Brolin) as he tries to rescue his former lover Ava Lord from her abusive husband. One memorable scene takes place in a seedy dive bar called Kadie’s Club Pecos, where Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba) dances next to a SlotZilla machine. Based on the comic books by Frank Miller, the world of Sin City is highly stylised with splashes of colour. The bright lights of the SlotZilla machine add visual interest to the scene while highlighting the dilapidated state of Kadie’s bar.

Showgirls (1995)

Paul Verhoeven’s cult classic Showgirls may be most remembered for its over-the-top sexuality and campy dialogue, but Las Vegas iconography also plays a big role. Much of the movie takes place inside opulent casinos where slot machines and gambling imagery help set the scene. Elizabeth Berkley plays Nomi Malone, an ambitious dancer who gets a job performing at the Stardust Casino. Several montages show Nomi exploring the casino floor, walking by rows of clanging slot machines and vacant-eyed gamblers.

Ocean’s Thirteen (2007)

In the third instalment of the Ocean’s trilogy, Danny Ocean (George Clooney) and his crew plot an elaborate casino heist to sabotage a greedy hotel owner named Willy Bank (Al Pacino). The flashy Las Vegas casinos in the movie are full of slot machines constantly being used by extras in the background. In one humorous scene, the team rigs the slots at Bank’s casino to pay out massive jackpots at a predetermined time. This leads to a chaotic scene where the casino floor descends into celebration as patrons eagerly win big on the slots. If this has you eager to win big yourself, you can try slots online.

Army of the Dead (2021)

Zack Snyder’s recent zombie heist film follows a group of mercenaries planning to rob a Las Vegas casino vault amid a zombie apocalypse. After entering the quarantined Vegas, the team makes their way through zombie-infested casinos. Shots show zombies wandering aimlessly among slot machines and card tables, with pull handles still spinning on slots despite no one being alive to gamble. The slots represent the light-hearted thrills of pre-outbreak Vegas, now ironically surrounded by mindless zombies.

Jason Bourne (2016)

Matt Damon returns as amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne in this 2016 entry in the action franchise. In one scene, Bourne stalks CIA director Robert Dewey (Tommy Lee Jones) through a noisy Las Vegas casino. Bourne weaves his way through crowds at slot machines to follow Dewey and eavesdrop on his conversation. The bright, buzzing slots and their inattentive players provide cover for Bourne as he disappears seamlessly into the chaos of the casino floor.

Casino Royale (2006)

Daniel Craig’s first James Bond film introduces a grittier version of the suave British spy. In Casino Royale, Bond faces off against Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen) in a high-stakes poker tournament set in Montenegro. Shots of the casino show a modern, high-class interior with slot machines integrated elegantly into the environment’s sophisticated design, and in one scene, Bond walks past a patron calmly playing slots.

From classic mob tales like Casino to flashy blockbusters like Ocean’s Thirteen, slot machines have made memorable appearances in many hit movies. They help establish the Las Vegas atmosphere, sometimes ironically in bleak or dangerous settings. Slot machines also represent gambling addiction and casino greed in films aiming for social commentary. But often they simply exist as decoration, recognised for their nostalgic connection to casino gaming culture. Whatever the context, slot machines always add visual style and thematic depth when featured on the big screen.

Review: Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission

My video review with footage captured using the Xbox Series X.

Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission is a cute and adorable educational title. As such, this won’t appeal to a large audience. However, if you have young children in your life, this is the perfect opportunity to tackle a game together. Alternatively, if you love the ocean and have a thirst for knowledge, this will appeal to you.

This educational adventure title was developed by Magic Pockets and published by Microids. What’s more, this colourful journey is laced with magic and mystery. Sadly, though, it is somewhat repetitive, and this undermines its replay value and longevity.

Your dolphin friend is key in Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission.
Use your dolphin friend at all times.

Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission tells an unbelievable tale.

Your holiday to see your grandfather was meant to be a relaxing endeavour. Yet unbeknownst to you, the island hides many secrets. On top of that, your grandfather knows more than he’s letting on. As such, he’s your guide as you unravel every mystery.

The story is beautifully intertwined with the educational aspects. The gameplay revolves around an ecological team that is tasked with protecting the island. However, these do-gooders are horribly overwhelmed when a storm wreaks havoc with their island. Consequently, you are asked to help clean up the mess and save the local wildlife.

Coral, giant clams, and fish fill this image.
Collect the rubbish and bring life back to the ocean.

Recycling and cleaning.

The main component of Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission is the educational element. Accordingly, as you discover new species or undertake different tasks, a factsheet highlights all the key information. This was fascinating if you are environmentally minded. Furthermore, it added depth and some realism to an otherwise fantasy experience.

The action revolves around repetitive and mindless tasks. However, they were oddly rewarding and extremely relaxing. Subsequently, I never tired of what I was doing. Whether you are exploring the island or diving in the sea, the tasks remain the same. Effectively, each area is broken down into smaller components. Here, you are expected to photograph the wildlife, collect rubbish, help sick animals, and complete an array of missions.

Disappointingly, though, each of these tasks is easy to undertake. As such, it is perfect for younger gamers, but far too easy for older players. Consequently, it would have been better had the developers incorporated an accessibility mode. If this had happened, the game would have been more challenging.

Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission was a little rough around the edges.

Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission is bright, colourful, and eye-catching. However, it wasn’t as polished as I wanted. Except for the cutscenes, many of the textures were rough and the world occasionally felt flat. This problem impacted your movements, and you’d get stuck in the scenery. Yet, if you ignore these problems, you’ll love the varied arenas and the different creatures you encounter.

The audio was sickeningly wholesome! The upbeat soundtrack is lighthearted and inspirational. Furthermore, it is wonderfully juxtaposed with some sombre and dramatic moments. Subsequently, each poignant part of the story is told brilliantly.

The hero learns a new skill by touching one of the totems.
Touch the totem and learn new powers.

Great for kids.

Microids are renowned for their child-friendly titles. Luckily, this is no different. Thanks to the amazing control set-up, you don’t need to assist your kids in any way. Accordingly, you can sit back and watch them having a glorious time.

Where this is lacking, though, is its replay value and longevity. Unfortunately, the repetitive gameplay will put some people off. Additionally, the lack of a challenge will drive some people crazy. However, if you like simple tasks that are easy to follow, you’ll probably search for every piece of trash and sick creature you can find.

Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission isn’t for everyone.

Niche games are more commonplace than ever before. Therefore, I’m not worried about the limited appeal of this game. Instead, I know that Dolphin Spirit: Ocean Mission will be loved by its key demographic. Accordingly, I enjoyed it and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you save the day and uncover the secrets of the island? Help the locals, save the animals, and learn many new facts along the way.

Review: GUNNAR – Black Panther Edition Gaming Glasses

The GUNNAR – Black Panther Edition Gaming Glasses prove that fashion and healthy products can go hand-in-hand. These excellent gaming specs are perfect for anyone who enjoys long gaming sessions. Moreover, they work well if you have to stare at a computer screen as part of your work. Additionally, they are comfortable to wear and they look great as well.

The tinted lenses mitigate the fatiguing effects of your gaming monitor or TV screen. What’s more, they help to reduce eyestrain and the consequential headaches that occur as a result. As such, if you suffer from any of these ailments, you may wish to invest in a pair of GUNNAR glasses.

What’s in the box of the GUNNAR – Black Panther Edition Gaming Glasses?

  • GUNNAR often goes overboard on its packaging. As such, the product is well protected, but there is also plenty of wasted cardboard. However, the end product looks incredible, and the packaging is professional and alluring.
  • The GUNNAR – Black Panther Edition Gaming Glasses are stunning to look at. The tinted lenses are understated and robust. Furthermore, the chunky dark frames complement the gorgeous Black Panther purple accents.
  • Keep your accessory clean and safe with the carry case and patterned Marvel cleaning cloth.

Technical aspects.

These excellent specs are sold with a “Doctors Recommendation”. As such, you are assured that the claims of reduced ailments from screen fatigue are accurate. If you are a keen gamer, you know the pain that is associated with extended gaming sessions. By wearing these fantastic glasses, you’ll protect yourself from 65% Blue light damage and 100% UV light. As a consequence, you’ll reduce the risk of migraines, dry eyes, blurry vision, and other more serious long-term illnesses.

GUNNAR makes big claims about its health benefits. I cannot confirm the long-term impact of wearing them. However, the reduction in eyestrain and fatigue is immediately noticeable. The amber lenses lower the vivid screen contrast and this makes gaming a much more comfortable experience. Furthermore, my reactions are sharper for longer and this is perfect whenever I tackle FPS games. Alongside this, they are great to wear if you use a tablet or Kindle.

Build quality.

The health benefits of the GUNNAR – Black Panther Edition Gaming Glasses can be questioned. However, what isn’t up for debate is the incredible build quality. These wonderfully robust glasses are comfortable to wear. Furthermore, the fixed nose bridge and wide-fit lenses deliver a stylish finish that will demand attention.

On top of this, the colour palette works as both a masculine and feminine product. Therefore, these unisex glasses are perfect for a gamer who loves to stand out from the crowd. Additionally, I admired the incredible carry case and the detailed cleaning cloth. The striking Marvel logo and stark lettering will catch your eye immediately.

Are the GUNNAR – Black Panther Edition Gaming Glasses worth it?

I’ve recently reviewed the Torpedo-X Razer glasses and my thoughts can be read here! Thankfully, the GUNNAR – Black Panther Edition Gaming Glasses were just as good. I loved the reduction in eyestrain and the ability to play without fatigue. Moreover, I was impressed by the lush colour palette and the excellent Marvel touches. Accordingly, I enjoyed using these glasses and I recommend that you buy them here!

El Paso, Elsewhere

0

Writing can carry a game with mediocre gameplay while steller gameplay mechanics can make a boring story tolerable. Video games have to have this level of balance in order to maintaining a persons interest and while some games are able to get around this general rule, it is important to understand that this is usually the outlier. Now what happens when you get a game that nails both gameplay and story, resulting in an experience that you cannot put down or walk away from? Well, you end up with El Paso, Elsewhere.

El Paso, Elsewhere blends the gameplay mechanics of Max Payne with a story that will pull at the heartstrings in ways I wasn’t expecting. The game has us following the main character, James Savage, as he descends into the void to stop a powerful vampire named Draculae. James understands that this journey into the void may be his last and that there is a lot at stake here. Armed with a plethora of guns and a handful of pills to aid him through the journey, Savage steps into an elevator and starts the descent into madness. Oh and Draculae? She’s not only a strong adversary but she is also his Ex.

The story here is full of twists and turns throughout its long run time. I expected the game to keep their relationship on the back burner and focus more on the monsters that we encounter over the course of the game while the romance would take a backseat. While the first couple of levels do talk about the void as well as the presence of creatures that haunt it, we will see James talk amongst himself in regards to the relationship he had with Draculae. She kept him in the dark about a lot of things in her past but now James has the opportunity to find out more about herself since the void seems to reflect both his and her feelings. While the monsters are terrifying and put up a fight to prevent James from moving forward, the real horrors here can be found in the shape of the abuse that Draculae dealt over the course of their relationship. She asserted dominance over James which eventually led to him fleeing in a car that he didn’t own while picking up an addiction to pills to help aid his escape.

Gameplay will see us running around a multitude of levels, 50 to be exact, in an attempt to reach the bottom and stop Draculae. Each level will have a horde of enemies waiting to jump at us from around every corner while we try to save the hostages spread throughout the locations. From twisting motel hallways to an eerie castle, we will be picking up heart shaped keys in order to unlock doors and move throughout the levels. Warewolves, Mummies, and Puppeteers await us around every corner but thankfully James knows how to handle himself. Gunplay has a strong presence here with James being armed with a multitude of weapons ranging from twin pistols to a tommy gun and an uzi. Each gun has its own ammo pool that can be replenished by various pickups found throughout the levels and when monsters get a little too close for comfort, we are able to utilize one of the stakes we can pick up. The influence from Max Payne shows in the gameplay since James is able to dodge and leap around the level while slowing time down to get a better read on the situation while being able to adjust his shots to hit vital points in order to save on ammo. The ability to enter this bullet time mode will drain a separate bar located next to his health so it is important to keep an eye on the bar or else you may find yourself overwhelmed and underprepared. Thankfully, you can toggle the slow motion with the press of a button so you can make use of it when things get tough without having to worry about completely draining the bar.

Visuals are impressively smooth while still retaining a retro look here. The areas you will be exploring have some phenomenal lighting effects and are filled with a plethora of destructible objects. Smashing wooden objects will sometimes reward you with extra stakes so it’s important to break everything you can. I personally found myself with a topped off supply of stakes and pills over the course of the game so while ammo preservation is important, with proper management of your resources you will be able to make it to the end credits without hitting a wall.

The music here is another key point that I would love to point out since each track does a wonderful job of adding to that atmosphere. There are vocal tracks that are sung by the same voice actor for James, Xalavier Nelson Jr. If that name sounds familiar, that is because he is also the head of Strange Scaffold, the company that brought us this wonderful gem. Tracks such as I want Wealth and Stay awake show up at key moments in the story and had me on the edge of my seat. Along with a phenomenal soundtrack, we are also graced with some amazing voice acting. James is full of metaphors and the rough tone he has makes each sentence hit you in the core with every delivery. The perfect use of pauses in between sentences makes the delivery of his realizations hit even harder.

El Paso, Elsewhere is a beautiful example of what happens when a developer puts all of their heart into a game. In the beginning  I was here to take on the hordes of monstrosities that Draculae throws at our main character but by the time the credits rolled, I was broken up over the relationship between the two. James isn’t a perfect person and often admits that he was a drug addict who made mistakes in his life but this was his one chance to do good. Draculae might be an interesting take on Dracula but she is more fleshed out than that. She isn’t just some reskin of the famous monster but has her own personality and emotions that we uncover over the course of the game.

This is a game that I can highly recommend to anyone who has been looking to fill the hole that Max Payne has left while still having its own personality. With 50 levels to run through and 2 different endings to get, this is definitely something that will take up a good chunk of time but is worth every minute spent here. So grab your trench coat, grab your arsenal, and prepare yourself to experience a  one way trip that is bound to stick with you well after the credits roll.

Review: Lumectra RGB LED light strip

The Lumectra RGB LED light strip from PowerA is a fantastic addition to your gaming set-up. Accordingly, this easy-to-handle and user-friendly device will make your console or PC pop. Alternatively, maybe you wish to add some colour to a child’s bedroom. Whatever the reason, this affordable accessory won’t disappoint.

On top of this, this light strip can be used in conjunction with the Xbox Advantage Wired controller with Lumectra. Consequently, you can have the most eye-catching gaming room ever. Furthermore, with plenty of colour options and 4 light modes, this is bound to impress.

What’s in the box of the Lumectra RGB LED light strip?

  • The alluring packaging caught my eye. The rich colours and striking images are impressive. Moreover, the box is robust, and the contents are well-packaged for transit.
  • The Lumectra RGB LED light strip is lightweight, sturdy, and easy to handle. What’s more, the adhesive strips make it a cinch to connect it to any compatible surface.
  • Control the lights with this handy remote control. Select the lighting pattern or your favourite colour with ease.
  • Learn the fundamentals with the startup guide.

Technical aspects.

This lighting strip is approximately 18 ft long. As such, it is suitable for many applications. Whether you have a massive TV or you wish to highlight the edge of your gaming area, this lighting strip won’t let you down. Additionally, thanks to the in-built control panel, you can adjust the settings with ease.

This control panel is equipped with an IR sensor. This sensor works with the provided remote control or the Xbox Advantage Wired controller with Lumectra (sold separately). Accordingly, getting the right colour for your man/woman cave or gaming area has never been easier. However, if you simply want to add colour to your cinema or playroom, the remote control is phenomenal and straightforward to use.

Build quality.

I was impressed with the excellent build quality. The Lumectra RGB LED light strip is extremely flexible and the adhesive strips will stick to most surfaces. Moreover, the internal cables are well protected. Consequently, this prevents your lights from becoming damaged. On top of this, the in-line control system is rugged and easy to use.

My only gripe is a minor point. Sadly, you have to connect the light strip to the mains. Consequently, there isn’t the benefit of plugging it into your console or PC USB port. This was disappointing, but luckily, the power draw is so low that this complaint is negligible.

Is the Lumectra RGB LED light strip worth it?

Making your gaming set-up pop is always worth the effort. You may not be a streamer or a garish person. However, personalising your gaming environment is a rewarding experience. As such, the Lumectra RGB LED light strip is a simple addition that improves any space. Consequently, I loved it and I recommend that you buy it here!
