The Terminator movie franchise is arguably one of the most iconic to have ever been created. It is one that most people will have seen, or they will have an idea of what it involves, and some of the famous quotes have been said which have gone on to be used in pop culture.

Given that the first one was released back in 1984, there have been some arguments from many that the franchise has already done everything that it needs to do and has run its natural course. They have argued that it is something that is best left alone and should be preserved before further damage is done, especially after a poor showing at the box office with its latest instalment.

However, that does not appear to have put off James Cameron, as the original creator and legendary director has decided to pen a new script. In doing so, we can expect to see the release of a seventh Terminator film.

Terminator 7: What we know already

While details are still a little sparse on the ground regarding what might happen in Terminator 7, we already know that Cameron will be writing the script for it. In fact, he is already said to be working on it and putting his ideas down on paper. We also know that Cameron will not be involved in the directing process of this film. However, fans would still suggest that his involvement is going to be a huge plus and help the franchise to get back to the heights it once had despite falling from its perch with some of its more recent releases. After all, there is no one else in the world who has a greater understanding.

One major obstacle that Cameron will face when it comes down to writing The Terminator is knowing who will play the main character of the franchise. The lead has famously been Arnold Schwarzenegger, however following the disappointment and the failure of “Dark Fate”, the actor proclaimed that he was finished with the franchise for good and no longer wanted to be a part of it moving forward. Without him involved, Terminator 7 could already face numerous challenges.

The director has also admitted that there could be challenges faced involving the storylines that are used, with him keen to focus on artificial intelligence and move away from cyborgs and robots that have gone bad. This could delay his entire process, as technology continues to evolve and staying ahead can be difficult.

Is Terminator 7 still likely to appeal to fans?

The Terminator franchise is one that still has a lot of pulling power, and this is something that has been experienced across a variety of industries. There have been numerous merchandise to have been sold featuring the movie brand, while plenty of entertainment mediums have utilised the themes of the film series. There have been TV shows, books, video games, and even slots that can be found in the 32red mobile casino collection of movie-themed titles that have proven to be extremely popular with players globally.

While the series has arguably hit a bump and started to become one that should no longer be touched in the eyes of many, the fact that Cameron is involved is going to be enough for many to become interested and watch once it is released.

The director appears to have a golden touch when it comes to creating cinema classics and box office hits, with the Canadian filmmaker having enjoyed huge success in the past with Titanic and the Avatar series. If he can replicate the winning formula he seems to have, then there is every chance that we could see Terminator 7 eclipse the failure that was experienced in the last release.

When can we expect to see Terminator 7 hit the screen?

Anticipation and buzz will have already been generated among the fiercest of loyalists and fans of The Terminator series, with many already eagerly awaiting any update that is announced.

Most will already be looking for a release date to pencil into their diaries to ensure they are among the first to watch it, but they could be in for a long wait. Development of the script is still taking place, meaning it is impossible to film anything at this moment. Also, with the news that Schwarzenegger is done, casting for the titular character is going to also take time.

Don’t expect to see it on the big screen anytime soon.
