The EM3 Mouse from Epomaker sits somewhere between a gaming mouse and something for everyday casual users. Its symmetrical design, affordable price point, and interesting style will appeal to office workers and everyday gamers. However, if you want a 4/8K ultra-responsive gaming mouse, I recommend looking at the Nex Pro.

This device offers an impressive 55-hour battery life, a charging dock, tri-mode connectivity, 1k polling, versatile and tactile switches, and a host of life-improving elements. The carbon-fibre composite shell is lightweight and durable, and the symmetrical design offers a low-fatigue user experience.

What’s in the box of the EM3 Mouse?

  • The packaging is simple but eye-catching. Furthermore, it is robust and recyclable.
  • The EM3 Mouse has an unusual design, 5 buttons, adjustable DPI, programmable side buttons, and a docking station.
  • A USB transceiver is provided.
  • Keep the mouse charged with the USB-C cable.
  • Learn the basics with the user manual.

Technical aspects.

The EM3 Mouse has an impressive 600 mAh battery capacity for multiple consecutive epic marathon sessions. The mouse can be charged while plugged in, or you can use the docking station to keep it juiced up. I got around 55 hours from one charge, so it is a great device if you are commuting or you hate wired gaming.

The mouse lacks RGB lighting, and this may be a deal breaker. I wasn’t too bothered as the docking station adds some colour to the situation. The lack of RGB increases the battery life, and this was more important to me. A charging dock is normally reserved for high-end products, so I was pleasantly surprised that it was included in the box. This is a handy option that ensures you are rarely without a fully charged battery.

This mouse is a tri-mode device, and I loved the versatility. Like many of its peers, you get the best polling rates when playing wired or via the 2.4Ghz USB receiver. 1000 Hz polling can be expected for a fast, accurate, and responsive experience. If you use the Bluetooth connection, this reduces to 125 Hz. Therefore, I’d reserve that for office jobs or slower games.

If you insist on customising your peripherals, you can adjust the side buttons to bind to whatever input you like. This was handy for FPS titles or editing. Programming them was a cinch, and those with little technical know-how can use the Epomaker software with ease.

Build quality.

One of the interesting aspects of the EM3 Mouse is the carbon-fibre composite shell. This mixed material design keeps costs down while offering an ultra-lightweight peripheral. Weighing only 56g, you will not experience any fatigue. Moreover, the low-profile symmetrical case is comfortable during the longest work or gaming sessions.

The hardened case is designed to withstand knocks and bumps. Moreover, it is easy to clean. We all know that eating rubbish and gaming go together. Therefore, it is essential to remove grease and other food residue. The lack of RGB may be a deal breaker for some, but I like the solid design and the mesmerising swirly pattern. This stealthy finish will appeal to people who want a bit of a sleeper build or those who simply hate flashy RGB.

If you want a mouse that delivers a crisp and tactile feel, this should be considered. The Huano Blue Shell White Dot switches are a great choice as they are reliable, hard-wearing, and accurate. They have been paired with the F-Switch encoder for a solid overall package. Finally, the PixArt PAW3315 sensor offers a great overall user experience. With up to 16k DPI, 300 IPS tracking, and 35G of acceleration, it will compete with many gaming mice. Furthermore, it is designed to last. Although it is more affordable than, say, a mouse with the PAW3950, it still does an amazing job.

Is the EM3 Mouse worth it?

If you want a top-end and elite gaming product, the EM3 Mouse may not appeal. However, I believe many mid-range gamers and office workers would benefit from this mouse. It is comfortable, durable, and easy to use. Moreover, the style is unusual but pleasant, and I like the inclusion of a docking station. Therefore, I think it is great, and I recommend buying it here!
