E3 2016: Sony confirmed launch date for PlayStation VR

Sony has confirmed the launch date for PlayStation VR (PS VR) in its region as 13th October, 2016.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe, responsible for 109 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania, will pursue a two wave launch strategy. In the first wave, the following territories will offer PlayStation VR for sale on 13th October 2016:

PSVR PlayStation VR

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

PlayStation VR will be priced at (£349.99/€399).

For the second wave, of the PlayStation VR will announce availability in other markets in coming months.

In terms of launch software, the following titles will be available on day one.

Rigs – EUR 59.99 (GBP 49.99)
VR Worlds – EUR 39.99 (GBP 29.99)
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood – EUR 19.99 (GBP 15.99)
Super Stardust – EUR 19.99 [or EUR9.99 upgrade] (GBP 15.99)
Hustle Kings – EUR 19.99 [or EUR 9.99 upgrade] (GBP 15.99)
Tumble VR – EUR 9.99

PlayStation VR is a virtual reality system that takes PS4 to the next level of immersion,” said Jim Ryan, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, “With the launch of PS VR on the horizon, we are looking forward to showing consumers that innovation has never been stronger at PlayStation as we offer unique experiences that truly embody VR’s potential.”
