You can see all of the devices and detailed information about IP addresses and MAC addresses in one spot, something that I really like on this Linksys router. At the bottom of that screen, you’ll see a section called DHCP Reservation List. This is where you tell the router to assign the same address every time to a given MAC address. I went ahead and set up a manual reservation for each NIC for the 5big NAS Pro; click on the link Manually add device reservation to get started.
Enter a name for the device, tell it what IP address to assign every time, and enter the MAC address for the network interface card, and select Save.
DHCP reservation is the easier way to set up a static IP address on this Linksys router and is the method that I’d recommend.
Now that we’ve set up your router, let’s set this up on the 5big NAS Pro.
Configuring 5big NAS Pro: Static IP
Let’s set this on the LaCie. Log into the Dashboard.
Select Network.
Click on the Pencil icon next to LAN1 (or LAN2 if that is carrying your traffic). Click on Edit, select Manual Configuration and set the IP address. Click Apply. Repeat for LAN2 if you are using both LAN ports, making sure that they both get different IP addresses.
