Forza Horizons, the next game in the popular Forza series is out very soon, and we got to speak to two of the guys involved in creating what looks to be an amazing game.
Forza Horizon combines legendary Forza Motorsport authenticity with a festival atmosphere and the freedom of the open road. Launching this October on Xbox 360, Forza Horizon offers an immersive pick-up-and-play open-road racing experience and features the unrivaled realism, diversity and innovation that are hallmarks of the Forza Motorsport franchise.
Recently we had the opportunity to not only play the game for a few hours but also to talk to two of the people involved in it’s creation, Ralph Fulton and Dan Greenawalt.
Ralph Fulton is the design director at Playground Games. He is responsible for the creative direction of the studio and its projects and oversees a department of 14 designers for “Forza Horizon.” Ralph is also a director at Playground Games, having been one of the company’s founders in 2010.
Fulton has 15 years of experience in the games industry in a broad range of genres. Prior to Playground, he was design manager for Codemasters’ award-winning Racing Studio where he was instrumental in the creation of the BAFTA award-winning titles, “GRID” and “DiRT 2.” While there, he also received a BATFA award for his work in establishing the creative vision for “F1 2010.”
Dan Greenawalt is the Game Director of Turn 10’s critically acclaimed racing franchise “Forza Motorsport” on the Xbox 360 platform. Greenawalt is the franchise’s visionary, leading the veteran team that brought the groundbreaking “Forza Motorsport,” its sequel “Forza Motorsport 2” and “Forza Motorsport 3,” from dream to reality. His extensive knowledge of automobiles and car culture allows him to lead the team of talented and passionate individuals that make up Turn 10 Studios. Greenawalt and Turn 10 Studios are driven to deliver the most compelling, engaging and realistic automotive experience possible.
And so on to the interviews and some game footage:
I really love Forza Horizons – it’s so much more than any other racing game and it’s not just on a track. I spent several hours playing it and I had only completed one festival race, I had spent all that time doing side races and doing other things. I can’t wait to play it some more!
