On Friday Jim told you about the price drop on the HP TouchPads in the US. Now there is information on the price drop for the UK!

HP TouchPad

Currys and PC World tweeted the following:

Currys & PC World stores: HP Touchpad SALE CONFIRMED FROM TUESDAY AM, Limited Stock £89 for the 16gb and £115 for the 32gb

And Dixons are due to start selling the TouchPads at the same reduced price some time later today (Monday).

Are you going to get one at this low price?

    • It seems they are a myth! Either out of stock immediately or if you manage to get one in your basket, like I did, when you try to checkout it empties your basket!

  1. Yea, MicroCenter all over again. I suspect that the only way to get one will be to buy them from HP.

Such a sad end to a nice product.

  2. Managed to find one online late Sunday at a PC World 6 miles away but at full price, so reserved as collect at store on the offchance. Other local PC Worlds all showed sold out and last night (Monday) the web was crazy with reduced prices but no stock anywhere. First thing this morning I called to collect, not expecting too much as my reservation was due for collection by close of business yesterday. Guess what, they’d saved me the last one!
Now am I the lucky one or have I bought a dud (even at £90)if Web OS is dead?

Sad to see HP drop such a potentially great product but if you think about it this will now flood the market with Web OS devices as every last one is sold. That alone could, theorectically, secure the future by creating a demand for development. This may be the boost Web Os needs, but they need to be quick before we all find out how to port Android to them.
