After months of rumors and speculation, Nokia and Microsoft announce a partnership.
LONDON – Feb. 11, 2011 – Nokia and Microsoft today announced plans to form a broad strategic partnership that would use their complementary strengths and expertise to create a new global mobile ecosystem.
Nokia and Microsoft intend to jointly create market-leading mobile products and services designed to offer consumers, operators and developers unrivalled choice and opportunity. As each company would focus on its core competencies, the partnership would create the opportunity for rapid time to market execution. Additionally, Nokia and Microsoft plan to work together to integrate key assets and create completely new service offerings, while extending established products and services to new markets.

Hopefully this will bring some really good devices onto the market.
Right now I’m still sticking to my iPhone until they sort out some better hardware and software. But I think its only a matter of time before I jump….
This is a good move for both parties. Nokia doesn’t have much of a footprint here in the U.S. anymore and Microsoft’s Mobile Platform needed a boost in Europe. I see some great things on the horizon. This partnership just put the icing on the cake. If Microsoft has WP8 ready to roll and Nokia can get the devices out to market in time for the Christmas shopping season, I believe it would put a decent dent in the competition’s marketshare.
