Review: Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller

The Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller is a superb way to play your Switch when docked. This striking and lightweight device is great for extended gaming sessions. Moreover, the mappable rear buttons deliver an elite edge that changes the way you play. Furthermore, the anti-friction rings on the analogue sticks ensure smooth movement and a great gaming experience.

This excellent controller is ideal if you love to game when your console is docked. However, there are some limitations that I’m compelled to highlight. If you are a Switch-Lite owner, this controller will not work. Furthermore, it cannot be used for joy-con-only titles and it does not support HD rumble, IR, motion controls or amiibo NFC. Yet, these are not new restrictions, as this is a common feature when using a wired accessory on your Nintendo machine.

What’s in the box of the Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller?

  • The cardboard packaging is lightweight but sturdy. Additionally, it is great to look at thanks to the striking imagery. What’s more, it can be recycled or stored to display on your gaming shelf.
  • The Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller is stunning. The punchy colours and vivid blue buttons catch your eye. Moreover, there is a 3.5mm audio port and 2 mappable buttons to master.
  • A 10-foot rubberised USB cable is used to connect the controller.
  • Understand the fundamentals with the user guide.

Technical aspects.

The Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller requires no batteries. Furthermore, you can use any standard micro USB-B cable to connect this device. Accordingly, if the cable becomes damaged, you are assured that the controller can still be used. The built-in 3.5mm audio port also delivers crisp audio through your headset. Consequently, this is the perfect device if you game with others online. Thanks to the excellent audio port, I experienced no interference, echo, or odd background noises.

The rear-mounted customisable buttons were great to use. Their placement and travel distance ensure that they are a quality addition to this device. What’s more, they can be adjusted on the fly thanks to the central activation button. Accordingly, if you wish to stand out from the crowd, then this could be the option for you.

Build quality.

Thanks to the ergonomic design and the anti-friction analogue stick rings, the Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller is comfortable to use. Additionally, its noticeably lightweight design is fantastic for extended gaming sessions. On top of this, you must consider the excellent button placement and the nice travel distance for each input. During testing, I had no issues with input lag, nor were there any noticeable delays when using the bumpers or any of the other buttons.

Another fine feature is the detachable USB cable. Though this may seem minor, it is a much better option than any controller with an integrated wire. If your cable becomes damaged, the controller has to be disposed of. However, this design feature ensures that only the cable needs to be replaced, and this was a great approach.

Is the Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller worth it?

If you love Sonic the Hedgehog, then you’ll cherish this stunning controller. Thanks to its vivid colours and incredible character model, this looks great in your hands or next to your machine. Additionally, it can be paired with the Sonic Peel Out travel case and the Sonic Kick game card holder.

Thanks to its fantastic mappable buttons, lightweight design and responsive inputs, this is a great option. In addition, the ergonomic design and smooth analogue sticks make this a pleasure to use. Accordingly, I adored it and I recommend that you buy it here!

Review: ELEMNT ROAM

The ELEMNT ROAM is a fantastic sports tool. Moreover, this clever computer will change the way you ride forever. Thanks to its superb tech features, compact size, and lightweight nature, this is the perfect companion for your bike. Furthermore, it has the ability to connect to an array of sensors. As such, you’ll have data coming out of your eyeballs.

On top of this, you’ll never get lost again as this device comes with in-built mapping and a highly accurate GPS. Accordingly, you can use different programs to upload your favourite rides. Alternatively, you can use the ELEMNT app to create a new adventure or to follow any previous rides you may have completed. Consequently, this cycling computer allows you to focus on tackling every road, trail, and hill that you fancy.

What’s in the box of the ELEMNT ROAM?

  • The sturdy and attractive packaging catches your eye. Furthermore, the striking imagery and key selling points deliver a professional edge.
  • The ELEMNT ROAM is small, lightweight, and easy to handle. Moreover, every task and command is completed without the use of a touchscreen. As such, this is a great device to use no matter the weather.
  • Two unique mount points are provided. Depending on your preference, you can mount the device on your stem or your handlebars. I choose the latter option. If you want to use the stem mount, cable ties are provided to secure it to your bike.
  • A small USB-C cable is used to charge the computer. However, if the cable is not long enough, any standard USB-C cable can be used.
  • Learn the fundamentals with the excellent user guide.

Technical aspects.

The ELEMNT ROAM delivers crisp imagery thanks to its 2.7″ 62 colour display screen. Moreover, the built-in GPS enables you to follow clear directions even when you have no idea of where you are going. This was great, especially if you love to ride off-road or if you enjoy tackling new routes. Alongside this, the incredible battery life allows you to undertake long rides without worrying about losing power. Consequently, you can connect a plethora of sensors, use the mapping feature, and monitor your data without a care in the world.

Connecting your cycling computer to your favourite sports software and your sensors is essential. Thankfully, this device is compatible with many of the leading sports-tracking apps and programs. Accordingly, you don’t need to worry about uploading your results or duplicating your rides. Instead, the ELEMNT ROAM does all the hard work for you. As such, you can focus on completing your race and earning that well-deserved kudos.

The ELEMNT ROAM with its LED safety lights illuminated.

Sensors.

Following real-time ride metrics is an essential feature for most serious riders. Accordingly, I loved the ability to connect this to my heart rate monitor and cadence sensors. Furthermore, it worked perfectly with my Shimano 105 Di2 sensor. Therefore, I was inundated with mountains of data as I rode to my heart’s content. Now, having all this data at your fingertips may not be your idea of a perfect solution. As such, you’ll be glad to know that you can simplify matters.

With the tap of a button, you can flick through each key metric. Subsequently, you can have as much or as little data as you wish. However, the surprises don’t stop there! No, this super powerful machine has a spectacular feature called SUMMIT. This awesome program calculates every monstrous hill no matter if you are tackling a planned route or you are freestyling.

As you approach any climb, the computer displays the grade, length, and predicted time for your ascent. What’s more, it delivers a colourful representation of each challenging element. As such, you know how much effort you need to exert and the torturous time that is remaining. Additionally, each climb is recorded separately from the main data dump. Therefore, you can analyse your climbing prowess and understand any weaknesses that you may have.

Workouts and training plans.

Pushing for new gains and marginal improvements is tough. Furthermore, riding in all weathers to maintain your fitness can be mentally testing. Thankfully, though, the ELEMNT ROAM has this issue covered. Whether you are an outdoor-only rider or you enjoy some static training, you can find a workout or training plan that is right for you.

Whether you use the app or the cycle computer, the results are the same. Consequently, you are guaranteed that added focus that pushes you on. Moreover, the testing sessions will improve your strength, stamina, and speed.

The ELEMNT ROAM and safety go hand-in-hand.

Cycling is a dangerous sport. As such, if you can improve your safety whilst on the roads or the trails, that can only be a good thing. If you are worried about the presence of cars in your blind spots, you’ll love the ANT+ radar integration. This incredible feature links your ANT+ Rearview radar to the ELEMNT ROAM computer. Accordingly, it gives you real-time proximity readings of approaching cars. This was great, as the simple display or LED options makes you aware of unknown dangers.

Alongside this, you can track your ride position using Live Track Web portal. This excellent system will beam your position using the ELEMNT Companion App. Subsequently, it’ll give peace of mind to any loved ones or allow your friends to find you whenever you arrange an impromptu riding session.

Finally, this works in conjunction with the Specialized Ride App to support the Specialized ANGi Crash Detection System. If this detects any possible crashes, it will send a notification to the computer. Furthermore, if the rider fails to acknowledge the message, the app will call for help.

Build quality.

Sports equipment has to be hardy and easy to handle. Additionally, cycling gear must be resistant to water, dirt, and other grim substances. Fortunately, this device is extremely resilient and simple to use. Moreover, the wonderful tactile buttons and lack of touch screen were great decisions.

The stable and sturdy rear connection ensures that the device stays connected to either mount. What’s more, I had no issue with movement or any unwanted vibrations. As such, viewing any data or the maps on the move was a cinch. Alongside this, it was simple to flick through the data fields as you rode. The large rubberised buttons made it easy to change pages, even if the device was wet or clammy.

Is the ELEMNT ROAM worth it?

If you’ve never experienced a bike computer, you may think it’s a waste of time, money, and resources. However, once you test one of these devices, you will not look back. The ability to have real-time ride metrics and your Di2 sensor data at your fingertips is a game-changer. Alongside this, the incredibly accurate GPS and wonderful mapping features give you the freedom to explore. Accordingly, the ELEMNT ROAM is a phenomenal tool that will revolutionise the way you ride. Therefore, I can easily recommend that you buy it here!

Are you ready for the Australian invasion?

Today’s tech world is all about challenger brands We see them in every niche, new businesses from unusual places upsetting the status quo by producing everything from antivirus solutions to smartphone handsets that are every bit as good as the leading brands, and often significantly better.

Today, we are going to take a look at a handful of such challengers that operate in the gaming sector. Now traditionally, that has largely been a battle between big-hitting industry giants from the US and Japan. SEGA, Nintendo, Electronic Arts, Rockstar, Sony, all those big guys.

There has always been room for indies, but historically, they have been like small-scale car manufacturers. Interesting to look at but no serious threat to the market leaders. That’s all started to change over the past decade as one after another, Australian game studios have developed titles that have shot to the top of the download charts and made everyone take notice.

Born from the hardest of times

So where have all these studios, bursting with Australian talent, appeared from? The pithy answer is the suburbs of Sydney, mostly. Their evolution began in the years immediately following the financial crash of 2008. In the early 2000s, the big US companies, in particular, had chosen Australia as a place to set up remote operations due to the nation’s superior infrastructure and top-class educations system. Japan had done the same to a lesser extent.

When the crash came, more than half had gone within a year and almost all by 2011. Hundreds of talented coders, developers and designers, with experience working for the biggest companies in the industry were cut loose. Who can blame them for setting up either independently or in partnerships and loose collaborations. Great talents with a point to prove and the freedom to create whatever they want – now that is a melting pot that is guaranteed to deliver some interesting results. That’s exactly how it has turned out. The following examples are in no particular order, but are all shaking up the gaming scene on a global scale to a greater or lesser extent.

Juego Studios have all the expertise

Juego is the perfect example of the Australian gaming ethos in action. They have crafted a strong team of talented professionals who put the focus on quality in terms of both products and service delivery. Juego doesn’t develop whole games, but instead provides professional services such as design, art, blockchain and so on for mobile games, AAA video games, etc. as well as delivering world-class art assets for game developers around the world.

Chaos Theory is a brand on a mission

One of Australia’s leading gaming companies, Chaos Theory’s mission statement is to inspire social change through interactive entertainment. Their platform makes making it really simple to create educational, marketing and entertaining apps and release them either on discs or through the App Store. With its bundled high-end security iOS offers, Chaos Theory is becoming the provider of choice for businesses looking for gamification solutions that do not compromise on quality.

Hipster Whale was the original disruptor

We can’t not mention Hipster Whale. The business was created over lunch by two of the disenfranchised young talents we were discussing earlier. Their debut title took a classic from the 8-bit era, added some extra features and repackaged it for the smartphone age. Literally within a couple of days they were millionaires, and Crossy Road continues to enjoy massive downloads.

Aristocrat is a global presence on the casino scene

Aristocrat Leisure is a little different to the rest here, as it was a pillar of the gaming scene long before online games. In fact, this year the company celebrates its 70th anniversary. Aristocrat started out literally building slot machines, for which it has built a global reputation. Here, though, is a company that has learned the importance of evolving with the times and it is behind some of the games that are showcased at the very latest Australian online casinos. You can find out more at Gamble Online Australia.

Gnomic Studios is a key Microsoft partner

Perth-based Gnomic Studios was formed in 2009 when Australia’s gaming industry was at its lowest ebb. The studio’s specialty is creating games for Microsoft’s annual Dream.Build.Play. competition, which has been running since 2009. Boasting an experienced team of developers alongside cutting-edge technology, Gnomic’s stated mission is to bring the best gaming experience to all players.

PlaySide Studios dares to be different

PlaySide Studios, from Melbourne, has gradually taken its place as one of Australia’s leading gaming companies. It has snared some lucrative contracts with the likes of Disney and Warner Bros by recruiting some of the most creative and imaginative developers on its teams.

The Nine Hertz is focused on mobile innovation

This respected Australian game development company provides custom mobile app and web solutions, using the very latest software and expertise. The company is famed for placing customer satisfaction as the highest priority, making them a go-to for businesses in and outside Australia who seek to create a superior mobile offering.

These are just seven examples, but they provide an overview of the range and depth of Australian gaming companies that are taking the industry by storm. Some are new, others have been around for years, but all are disrupting the status quo in the global gaming arena.

Casino Royalty: Unearthing the History of Famous Casino Resorts and Their Impact on Pop Culture

0

Today, a big part of gambling goes on with a seemingly endless number of virtual table games and blockbuster Slots Online at borderless Internet casinos. Modern digital gamers, for all they care, would enjoy hours and hours of isolated gaming from the comfort of their couch, hooked on to their device screens, cozily dressed in their pajamas.

This is in complete contrast to the clan of casino royalty that struts their expensive neckties and diamond cufflinks, huddled at the bedecked poker tables, as though a James Bond would grace the Casino de Monte Carlo. Even though visiting physical gambling establishments is becoming more and more rare activity it’s always interesting to learn something unknown before. So, now let’s take a look at some opulent casino resorts and discover what mark they left on pop culture.

What Is a Casino Resort?

A casino resort attracts a gamut of leisure, recreation, and entertainment. It is not entirely about gambling. It is a complete picture of a luxury vacation experience and the concept of a good life that revolves around it.

Each gambling resort particularly has a significant impact on popular culture. From rich history and architecture to high fashion and luxury cars to the prominent celebrities gracing the halls, these are cultural hubs that intersect with various forms of entertainment, social aspects, tourism, and the adventures of a suite life.

What Are the Most Popular Casino Locations in Pop Culture?

In essence, casino resorts have become more than just places to gamble. From films and television to social reforms, iconic gambling destinations have had a deep-rooted impact on urban lifestyles.

The Monte Carlo Grandeur

This grand palace, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Mediterranean, epitomized the extravagance and glamour of the Belle Époque era.

The gambling resort not only stands as a haven for the aristocracy to indulge in games of luck but also captures the imagination of writers like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ian Fleming. It could be most distinguished as one of James Bond’s favorite places, and it also inspired movies like Ocean’s Eleven and Kylie Minogue’s songs.

The Vegas Strip Drama

What happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas. It appears to be the most hyped hub and backdrop for Hollywood films, literature, music videos, comic books, and whatnot!

Unearthing the history of the Las Vegas Strip, it was recalled to statehood after Fred Balzar’s government finally legalized gambling in 1931 in this part of the country.

The mid-20th century development of the Las Vegas Strip is the perfect example of how luxury and entertainment can coexist. Initially a stretch of motels and casinos, it burgeoned with iconic landmarks like the Flamingo and Desert Inn. Then there was the unsolved murder mystery of Bugsy Siegel. By the 1960s, stars like Elvis Presley graced its stages, solidifying its status as a global entertainment mecca. The Strip remains a cultural touchstone, a testament to its enduring impact on popular culture.

Sun City Resort

Sun City is a luxury resort formed by hotel magnate Sol Kerzner in 1979 as a symbol of opulence during apartheid. Initially controversial due to its location in a nominally independent homeland, it defied social norms, attracting global attention.

A crucial turning point in South Africa’s transition was marked by Sun City’s tenacity and eventual acceptance. Despite widespread boycotts due to apartheid, there was something that elevated its status in pop culture, namely performances by legendary artists like:

  • Queen;
  • Boney M;
  • Elton John.

Ever since the end of apartheid, Sun City has continued to cultivate an aura of extravagance, becoming the hot destination for music concerts, film launches, and filming locations.

The Ritz London

Launched by the Swiss hotelier César Ritz in 1906 as the flagship of the Ritz Paris, it would almost instantly become a hotspot in London, frequented by a host of celebrities and gambling enthusiasts. The Ritz’s role in popular culture is profound, from gracing popular sayings like “Puttin’ On the Ritz,” meaning to deck up, to inspiring iconic scenes in films such as “Notting Hill.” The hotel’s iconic afternoon tea tradition and lavish parties have become symbols of sophistication in mainstream media. With its timeless charm and historical significance, the Ritz Hotel has indelibly woven its influence into the tapestry of pop culture, symbolizing elegance and allure.

Casinos, Celebrities and All That Jazz

Many celebrities have been associated with casino resorts through endorsements, performances, and appearances and their common interest in gambling.

When New York, Planet Hollywood opened up in 1991, it had the most amazing investors, like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis. The premier casino resorts in Las Vegas, with the likes of Ceasar’s Palace, Bellagio, and MGM Grand, influence trends in lifestyle choices and preferences, especially among those seeking luxury and entertainment.

The aficionado’s playground, take a walk in these premier gambling resorts, and you could come in close encounters with the likes of Ben Affleck, Justin Timberlake, Andy Roddick, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, and so many others. These affiliations contribute to the resort’s image and enhance its visibility in pop culture.

Review: Escape from Terror City

My video review with footage captured on the Xbox Series X/S.

Escape from Terror City is a retro endeavour that’ll drive you insane. This easy-on-paper title should be done and dusted in no time. However, a weird sense of depth perception and cruel mechanised foes keep you on your toes.

This low poly 3D game was developed by Renegade Sector Games and Eastasiasoft Limited and published by the latter. Moreover, it comprises some strange 3D bullet hell moments and a smattering of platforming elements. Accordingly, it requires accuracy and a dextrous touch if you wish to be victorious.

Escape from Terror City: a grim look to the future.

I love the simplicity of old-school sci-fi. These classic tales always focus on the grim downfall of mankind. What’s more, the OTT weaponry is amusing yet oddly exciting. Subsequently, it’s a hearty blend of drama and absurdity. As such, rarely, I don’t fall for this dated genre’s charms.

Humanity has become divided. However, a treaty pact has been created. The remaining factions know that fighting will doom the race. Consequently, if one sector becomes aggressive, the rest must group together to stop them. Sadly, Escape from Terror City highlights how the best-made plans occasionally fail. As such, you must invade the aggressive faction, destroy their technology, and save the capital city.

The Train Head boss shoots multiple projectiles towards the hero.
Dodge those projectiles.

Simple gameplay.

The 5 levels follow a fairly strict linear path. As such, there are virtually no exploration elements to think about. Instead, you must focus on avoiding wave after wave of projectiles as you shoot every enemy you face. Furthermore, each level is broken down into mini-encounters. Accordingly, you must overcome every foe before you can proceed. This approach was undeniably basic, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

What wasn’t so great, however, was the lack of new tools at your disposal. Though your opponents become larger and stronger, you are armed with a laser cannon. This basic gun was strong enough to tackle everything, but I wanted more variety. Unfortunately, this never materialised, and that was disappointing.

The developers mitigated against boredom by chucking in plenty of gargantuan bosses to fight. These asshat mechanoids were overpowered, annoying, and wonderfully rewarding to destroy. As such, the gameplay was finely balanced throughout.

The calm before the storm.
Things are about to get messy!

Escape from Terror City won’t please everyone.

The dated visuals and garish colour palette make Escape from Terror City a marmite experience. Graphics aren’t everything, so I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. However, if you love smooth animation and a pristine finish, this will leave you wanting. Additionally, the low-key level design and repetitive character models fail to ignite any sparks. As such, you’ll either love or hate what you see.

The audio follows suit. The synthwave soundtrack is complemented by shrill and dated sound effects. This nostalgia-infused approach will disappoint all but the hardiest of sci-fi lovers. Yet, if this floats your boat, you’ll grin from ear to ear from beginning to end.

My biggest issue with this title is the odd sense of depth perception. The camera turns at such a pace that you become disoriented. As a result, you’ll lose your bearings, miss your opponents, or fall to your death. Unfortunately, this issue plagues the action throughout, and it’ll make you scream with frustration.

The hero fights the antagonist.
Take him down and save the day.

Failure is to be expected.

The woeful camera angle undermines much of the control system. Accordingly, it is tough to navigate the minor platform elements. Furthermore, trying to get the upper hand on your foes is almost impossible. Subsequently, don’t expect too much from this retro and often infuriating game.

Another shortcoming is the lack of longevity and replay value. Escape from Terror City has 2 difficulty settings and a small list of achievements to unlock. Other than this, there is no reason to return and this was disappointing. Had the developers incorporated more depth and some customisation options, then you’d be more inclined to return.

Escape from Terror City is fun whilst it lasts.

Though this game infuriated me, I adored its old-school mechanics. Furthermore, the action is casually mindless. As such, it’s a pleasant change from its deeper and more challenging peers. However, it is its shortcomings that undermine the potential. Consequently, you’ll either love it or hate it. I loved it and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you defeat the treacherous rebels and save the day? Grab your rifle, avoid the deadly projectiles, and destroy their jamming technology.

Inspired by the Maono PD400X dynamic Microphone, Maono PD200X microphone also with USB and XLR outputs and compatible with computers and professional interfaces alike. it features an exclusive custom dynamic microphone core with ultra-wide frequency response, great focus on voice details and high performance of background noise suppression.

A Closer Look

Final Thoughts

The PD200X microphone feels very solid and looks really great – it’s really well made!

Setting it up is very easy – you can attach it to a microphone stand or arm and connect whichever cable (USB or XLR) that you wish to use with it.

There is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom as well which makes it easy to hear just what the microphone is picking up.

There is a mute button that you can use to quickly mute and unmute and there is a coloured indictor that shows the status. Muting only works with the USB connection though, not if you are using XLR.

There is a 2-in-1 control knob that can be used for a variety of fucntions, including mic gain, mode switching and headphone volume.

There is also an RGB switch that can be used to select either a set colour mode or dynamic mode. This is a great feature if you are using the microphone for streaming and you are on camera, it really adds to the look.

Maono Link is a piece of software you can install and use on either Windows or a Mac that enables you to change and tweak various audio settings. It’s worth installing this and playing around with the various settings to get it all perfectly set up for whatever your needs are.

The quality of the mic is excellent – it was very clear speaking into it and it was very easy to use.

The box contains a USB cable – if you want to connect the microphone using XLR then you will need to provide an XLR cable as one isn’t supplied – although you can by the PD200X with an XLR cable as a pack from Moano.

What’s in the box of the Faro Smart helmet?

  • The sturdy packaging is refined and slightly underwhelming. With basic imagery and a beige finish, it won’t catch your eye. However, it is professional and demands to be opened. Furthermore, it is fully recyclable and your helmet is protected in transit.

What’s in the box of the navigation remote?

  • The compact packaging is simple but professional and it can be recycled.
  • The navigation remote is small and lightweight.
  • 2 rubberised cables are provided to connect the device to your handlebars.
  • Understand the fundamentals with the manual.

Don’t go it alone!

If you read the manual, you’ll enjoy the straightforward and easy-to-follow setup. However, if you go it alone, the Faro Smart helmet may outwit you. Accordingly, I recommend following the instructions. By installing the excellent U1 Faro app, you cannot go wrong. This device uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone and the navigation remote. As such, after a short charging period, you are good to go.

Technical aspects.

A cycling helmet must be comfortable, bright, and compliant with many safety aspects. Thankfully, the Faro Smart helmet ticks these boxes and many, many more. Fully certified to CPSC and EN10 standards, you know that this device will keep your head safe if you have an accident. Furthermore, it uses the MIPS safety system to enhance your protection further. Subsequently, I chose this helmet as I wanted a device that minimised the risk to my health. Thankfully, I believe that I will be better protected from the effects of concussion and other brain injuries than if I were to use a standard non-MIPS helmet.

Another incredible safety feature is the integrated light system. The striking white front-facing LED and the vivid red rear light illuminate to create a generous hue. In addition, you can alter the lighting display and enhance the rear visibility if you use the app. Alongside the rear light bar is the ability to illuminate the hidden lights. This was a fantastic design choice that created an unusual but vibrant effect. Consequently, you will stand out from other road users and this will increase your safety.

U1 Faro app.

Making the most of the app is an essential feature of this helmet. First, it indicates the remaining battery life. This is essential, as no one likes to be caught short when on extended rides. Second, you can customise your light setup. I adored the number of options at my disposal and the features that I would have otherwise missed. Additionally, it allows you to create a power-friendly mode without compromising your visibility. Alternatively, you can go loud and proud, and it’ll highlight how long your battery will last.

Alongside this, you can adjust the navigation remote settings and the weather monitoring feature. Subsequently, if you wish, you can select that the helmet works harder for you in fog or rain. This was a great idea as it optimises your battery usage whilst enhancing your visibility during troublesome weather fronts.

The pièce de résistance, however, is the Crash Detection system. If you connect the Faro Smart helmet to your phone, and it detects that you have come to an abrupt stop, it will ask you if you are ok. You have a set time to reply to the helmet via the app. However, if you are immobilised due to an accident, the app will automatically contact an emergency contact with your GPS location. Therefore, if you were to be knocked off your bike, and no one could help, a loved one could contact the emergency services to get you the help you need.

The navigation remote for the Faro Smart helmet.

Who’d have thought that such a small device would be such a game-changer? This incredible handlebar accessory allows you to show other road users your intentions with plenty of time. Accordingly, this should reduce the likelihood of a collision as well as the frustrations between cyclists and car users.

The navigation remote links to your Faro Smart helmet via Bluetooth. As such, the connection is stable, responsive, and has a low power draw. Furthermore, you can adjust the activation time and whether the cancellation of any indication is automatic or manual. This was phenomenal, as it increases your safety without undermining any of the other lighting segments. By appearing in the hidden lighting segment, the indication panel makes clear and definitive instructions to any other road users who are behind you. Therefore, if you utilise this feature and use traditional signalling methods, your safety will be improved.

Build quality.

I adored the technical aspects of this helmet. However, the build quality impressed me more. The Faro Smart helmet is surprisingly heavy, but it isn’t uncomfortable or cumbersome. Consequently, you won’t feel weighed down, and it is perfect for short or longer rides. The excellent boa system enables you to adjust the band size to enhance your comfort.

What’s more, the urban ventilation system prevents your head from becoming overheated. This reduces sweat during long training sessions and enables the softer materials to stay cleaner for longer. Alongside this, a strong magnetic clip replaces the traditional buckle method. This incredible design choice was easy to adjust and straightforward to use.

So, the Faro Smart helmet is easy to adjust and comfortable to wear. However, surely a helmet with lights will be tough to activate and suffer in the rain? Well, no! This waterproof helmet suffers no ill effects when used in all weather conditions. Furthermore, the charging port has a rubberised bung to prevent water ingress. Consequently, you can rest assured that this can be used if you are an all-weather rider. As for the power button, it makes a delightful clicking sound whenever you use it correctly. Subsequently, you know the device is powered on and off by the sound it makes and the familiar shutting-off and activation lighting pattern.

Is the Faro Smart helmet worth it?

The Faro Smart helmet comes loaded with high-end tech. Moreover, it is stunning to look at and it is revolutionary in the way it tackles your safety. Thanks to its CPSC and EN10 certification and the MIPS safety system, you know that the potential for serious head injuries is vastly reduced. Additionally, the incredible integrated lights, navigation remote, and user-friendly app enhance your experience further. UNIT 1 has been awarded many industry awards. Consequently, my admiration for them is shared by other professionals. Accordingly, I loved both the helmet and the navigation remote and I recommend you buy it here! Review: Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains

I’ve been on a bit of an RPG kick lately. A few months ago I was on a run of short, snacky and mostly roguelite games. I began to crave something a little meatier. Something where I wouldn’t be forced to watch my failures pile up in inverse proportion to my remaining sanity. Something with level up dings and incrementing stats and that won’t be polished off in a lunch break. So when the lengthily titled Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains plopped into my inbox I was intruiged.

I’d never heard of it or the series it belongs to. Partly because I’ve not shown much interest in turn-based RPGs for a while but mostly because I can’t read Chinese. The series has been going on for quite some time, with the most recent being number seven in 2021. Today’s subject is a little older – it was first released in 1999, and has now been touched up for PC and Switch. It poses a question. Given that very little has been done to it, how should I approach a game to review that released when I was only six years old?

Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains - Septem, Kama, Nicole and Li Jing face off against a spirit.

History (But Not)

I think the best approach is just to assess it like a museum piece and see how its various original elements hold up. Let’s start with the writing – something that should be (mostly) timeless. Well, Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains opens with our main man Septem, a Frankish knight currently in Venice, searching for a way to avoid war in his home country. Venice is currently in the grip of Tempar control, however, who are roughing up merchants and blocking trade. Then an old bloke draws a pentagram on an altar and summons a demon from hell named ‘Nicole’ and we throw the history book straight into the rubbish bin. This is a story about God and Satan, that casually strolls through ancient history.

As a plot device, it’s not half-bad. While I’m not too interested in listening to people banging on about their religions, the nature of the plot takes us all over the place. Septem’s quest to find something to end conflict continually changes the more he studies, so we end up traipsing from Venice, through Arabia before ending up in ancient China. Also, hell. That’s down to his constant conflict with demons. It’s nice seeing the scenery change as we go, though unfortunately the writing behind the plot rather lets things down a bit.

There’s two reasons for this. The first is a simple one: the translation isn’t that great. Not the worst I’ve seen, though. Still, it’s enough for characters to all start sounding a little off and robotic, which isn’t great for characterisation. It’s also probably why Septem comes across as a jerk, making it inexplicable why everyone immediatly falls for him. The writing also suffers from an exposition issue. Characters will regularly vomit descriptions of the current world situation at you, like they’ve memorised the first paragraph of the Wikipedia page.

Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains - Septem talks to Nicole.

Wait Your Turn

It’s a tell don’t show world. I ended up completely losing track of the plot as new names were thrown out and characters came and went. The core group of characters weren’t bad, but Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains never stayed still long enough to let them breathe. Still, maybe we’ll have a better time focusing on the combat. It’s turn-based, with an ‘Active Time Battle’ element, where your characters can only strike when their agility bar is full. It works pretty well and did hit some old school nostalgia buttons for me. It’s nice to play a turn-based game that hasn’t been messed with.

It does bring along a host of issues from the past though. The first is random encounters. Admittedly, this is par for the course. I do hate it when games don’t let us dodge the encounters though. Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains loves pushing you into labyrinths – going so far as to give you items that help you escape – then ramping up the encounters. So if you blunder down the wrong way, it’ll take you two or three fights to get back to where you were. Double that for the world map. Given the rather loose instructions for goals, this can be very frustrating.

The second big issue is also endemic to the genre: the balance is all over the place. The first two thirds are relatively stable, a little easy even, with a few intense spikes in the boss fights. Then in the last third, bosses begin breaking out the one-hit-kill attacks out of nowhere, turning every fight into a roll of the dice. I ended up walking away at the final boss for just this reason. Still, at least grinding is pretty quick. The battle animations are fast and smooth, which makes the smaller fights zoom past. Thank the Lord.

Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains - The fusion screen.

Time Capsule

It’s not devoid of good ideas. There’s a nice capture mechanic, where you can capture monsters from the battlefield and equip them – or throw them at your other enemies. You can then fuse them with items to make stronger monsters. It’s neat, and adds a little something. There’s also a frankly staggering amount of enemy variety, which draws from both western and eastern mythology. Only a handful are re-skins too, which is impressive. The graphics in general aren’t too bad. It works hard to keep the different regions as distinct as possible.

It’s for this reason that I was originally quite happy with Xuan-Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains. But as I went through, the combat, the labyrinths and the writing began to wear me down. Then there are the weird re-release bits. Audio seems overly compressed at times and the cutscenes (the ones that don’t use late nineties 3D at least) seem to be running at 240p. In the end, all the good will I had towards it seemed to dribble out, leaving me a little saddened at the end. I wanted an RPG but not like this. Not like this.

How to write a movie title in an essay: Unexplored guide in writing

0

Depending on your college’s admission requirements, you might have written a personal statement or an admission essay prior to your acceptance to a degree or diploma program. Do you remember or know what is unique about such a write-up? An admission essay can be 200 words, however, some colleges might want a graduate applicant to complete a no more than 1500-word personal statement about personal experience, attributes, and motivation to pursue a certain academic program. As such, there’s a high likelihood that you won’t need to cite and reference a source(s).

However, upon acceptance to a college, you’ll need to complete several assignments and essays throughout your years of study. Besides relying on scholarly sources to answer questions or “dissect” a social, economic, or health issue, you might come across a situation where you need to “cite a source within a source.” In such a case, an in-depth understanding of the steps of using italics and quotation marks is necessary to acknowledge information from an article, book, movie, or a scholarly paper.

While there are many guidelines on writing a movie title in an essay, this article aims to eliminate confusion that you might still have in your mind.

General guidelines for writing a movie title in an essay

Never assume that the title is misspelled

Even before delving into how you can apply this rule to appropriately write the title of a movie in an essay, what will be your thought if your essay instruction says, ”Write the negativ effects of GMOs on the environment.” What do you notice from the topic? Without a doubt, everyone can see that the instructor intended to write “negative” instead of “negativ.” So, many students will write an essay on the “negative effects of GMOs.”

What could be the consequence if you apply the same rule to write a movie title in an essay? Take a look at the following scenarios.

You’ve previously watched The Haunting of Hill House and liked it to the extent of repeating it several times. However, your professor wants you to analyze the characters in House on Haunted Hill. Even without a second thought, you assume that your instructor meant The Haunting of Hill House, as two names might mean a paraphrased version of each.

Even if you perfectly write the analysis, you’ll fail. So, it’s imperative that you consider the title of movies as “medical” terms.

Understand the context of the movie in your region

If you’re a student from the UK, UAE, Canada, Africa, or anywhere in the world in a US college, you’ll notice many things about discrepancies in word spellings and sounds. Do you know that some movie titles changed in the US film market? What does this mean?

When you decide to use a specific movie title into an essay, for example, The Road Warrior, it will be best to stick with it rather than trying to interchange it with Mad Max 2, even though they are the same. It’s important to understand that your effort to reduce or eliminate the repetition of words or phrases in your assignment should not be an excuse for introducing confusion. What’s more, if your professor says to write a review on The Road Warrior, you shouldn’t be clever to replace it with Mad Max 2 as it might be a clear indication of you rephrasing an essay from an online database.

It’s because of this reason that the support team at CustomWritings strives to match your academic needs with the best writer when you look for someone who can write an essay for you from scratch. For example, if you need your task of reviewing a movie completed with an ENL expert, all you have to do is select proficient English as your preferred language style.

Be keen with the use of “a” and “the”

When you type a movie title in your essay, how do you use the articles “a” and “the?” Whereas grammar rules obligate you to include “a” and “the” in some instances, you should ensure that they don’t distort the original meaning of the film. Take a look at the following examples to understand.

The Return and The Return premiered in different years are not the same. In the first case, the article “the” is not part of the movie’s name. However, it’s part of the title in the second one. When you italicize the article before the name of the movie, it becomes one word. Therefore, it’s best to be keen when you want to include the titles of films in your essays.

An expert tip on how to write a movie title in an essay APA

Besides citing the producer’s name(s) in your essay, you might want to include its title. In this case, you must italicize the movie’s name rather than using quotation marks. The underlying reason for using this strategy concerns differentiating a movie title in an essay with a direct quote from a source.

What’s more, titles of films in APA should be in the title case, for example, Pirates of the Caribbean. As you’ve noticed, articles, conjunctions, and prepositions must be in lowercase unless they appear first in the name of the movie. For example, in The Return, “the” starts with a capital letter.

It’s important to note that words with over four letters in the title of the movie should be in the sentence case. For instance, in Gone With the Winds, the words “with” and “the’ are in sentence and lower case, respectively, as the latter has four letters.

An expert tip on how to write a movie title in an essay MLA

While the proper way of writing a movie title in an essay in APA and MLA is the same, you might want to omit the inclusion of years when it comes to this formatting style. Do you think that is a good decision? Definitely not, as movies might have the same name, but they are different.

For example, Return (2011) and Return (2020) have different plots. It’s for this reason that you must include the date of premier in your essay, whether in APA or MLA. To properly write the titles of movies, it’s advisable that you’ve the director’s name(s) when you mention it first (“To emphasize specific performers or directors, begin the citation with the name of the desired performer or director, followed by the appropriate title for that person”).

Whereas this article offers invaluable insights into how to write a movie title in an essay, regardless of the formatting style, there’s a lot to learn when it comes to citing and referencing. As such, it will be best if you consider asking an expert at CustomWritings to offer you a detailed reference material or sample. Other than knowing how to incorporate film titles in your papers, you need to read about how to incorporate other scholarly sources in your essays.

Why students are becoming the driving force of the gaming industry

0

Contrary to what many parents want to hear, the gaming industry is shaping the lives of different students in different ways. As a result, students have a solid impact on the gaming industry. This raises the question of why students are the largest set of people receiving the impact of gaming. This guide will give you all the reasons linking students with the gaming industry.

One thing is that the ever-advancing technology is the main factor promoting the gaming industry. Students can now use https://mypaperdone.com/do-my-coursework for any coursework and finish the assignment on time. Once free, they can explore the gaming industry, feel the excitement, and learn different gaming activities as they pass the time. Keep reading to learn more insights on the future of gaming for students.

Is gaming beneficial to students?

Yes, some believe that gaming wastes student’s time and makes them forget about books. However, the following are some of the ways through which gaming benefits students.

Gaming helps students gain digital literacy

We are living in a digital era where technology is moving at an unmatched speed. Through computer-based games, students not only get entertained but equip themselves with adequate skills and knowledge on how to navigate through the tech world.

Above all, students acquire basic life skills such as creative thinking, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills. These skills are key in our daily lives. A student who spends extra time on gaming activities is always up to date with the digital trends taking and shaping how we live.

Ideally, students can navigate through online platforms, do research, edit documents in different formats, and learn how to use the internet as a whole. These are some of the crucial elements, especially when doing academic papers and research.

Improved social & soft skills

Gaming tends to enhance soft skills such as leadership, teamwork, and communication. Other areas gaming enhances improvement are the psychological and social well-being of a person.

This is because, during gaming, players must compete, and this makes the gamer develop a sense of engagement, self-esteem, and motivation. What’s more, gaming requires the player to stay attentive and focused throughout. As a result, students learn the art of staying focused for long, especially when studying.

Other physical skills students learn from gaming include hand and eye coordination skills. When integrated into a learning environment, these skills prove to work more magic than other learning methods. Above all, all these skills help students develop socially.

Improved Motivation

Even though most students view gaming as a form of entertainment, they tend to develop self-motivation tactics. Ideally, gaming often has a set of rules, goals, and competition at large. When playing, students often develop the urge or motivation to do their best and win. Education, on the other hand, requires the student to stay motivated to achieve their academic goals.

In most gaming activities, you must choose a specific action to achieve the set goal. Similarly, students must make good choices to achieve academic objectives. Therefore, students get the urge to stay attentive and be active in participating in classwork as part of learning.

Stress reliever

It is common for students to undergo extreme stress, especially on matters concerning assignments and other academic tasks. Through gaming, students can forget all the stressors for a while, stay calm and relaxed, play a game, and reconnect with books later. Taking a break from gaming helps students re-energize and refresh their minds to learn and understand new concepts.

Tips to help students become responsible gamers

While gaming impacts students’ lives in some positive ways, it can pose some risks and negative impacts, such as addiction to a student’s life. That is why it is crucial for students to practice productive gaming by following the tips below:

Plan your schedule

Create a schedule highlighting the activities to do at a specific time. Otherwise, you might find yourself gaming the whole day without doing any other task, hence becoming an addict.

As you plan your schedule, know the things to prioritize, then train yourself to always fix urgent and productive tasks such as homework and assignments before gaming.

Don’t forget about physical interaction

Gaming is an engaging activity. Therefore, it is possible for a student to underestimate the need to socialize physically with other students. Don’t focus on gaming all day. Set some days aside to interact and perform different activities with other students.

Sleep is vital

Don’t use sleeping time on gaming. In any case, reduce the blue light as it can interrupt your sleep patterns. If possible, put off the gadget when it is sleeping time. This will enable you to have a relaxed and peaceful sleep.

Choose educative games

Not all gaming can help students with the benefits highlighted in this guide. Choose a game that will challenge you to think creatively and motivate you to achieve your objectives. Some gaming activities can be toxic and addictive to your mental health patterns.

Conclusion

Are you a student excited about gaming? Well, you aren’t the only one. However, take note of the impacts of gaming on your academic life by following the insights highlighted in this guide.
