The Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller is a superb way to play your Switch when docked. This striking and lightweight device is great for extended gaming sessions. Moreover, the mappable rear buttons deliver an elite edge that changes the way you play. Furthermore, the anti-friction rings on the analogue sticks ensure smooth movement and a great gaming experience.

This excellent controller is ideal if you love to game when your console is docked. However, there are some limitations that I’m compelled to highlight. If you are a Switch-Lite owner, this controller will not work. Furthermore, it cannot be used for joy-con-only titles and it does not support HD rumble, IR, motion controls or amiibo NFC. Yet, these are not new restrictions, as this is a common feature when using a wired accessory on your Nintendo machine.

What’s in the box of the Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller?

  • The cardboard packaging is lightweight but sturdy. Additionally, it is great to look at thanks to the striking imagery. What’s more, it can be recycled or stored to display on your gaming shelf.
  • The Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller is stunning. The punchy colours and vivid blue buttons catch your eye. Moreover, there is a 3.5mm audio port and 2 mappable buttons to master.
  • A 10-foot rubberised USB cable is used to connect the controller.

Technical aspects.

The Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller requires no batteries. Furthermore, you can use any standard micro USB-B cable to connect this device. Accordingly, if the cable becomes damaged, you are assured that the controller can still be used. The built-in 3.5mm audio port also delivers crisp audio through your headset. Consequently, this is the perfect device if you game with others online. Thanks to the excellent audio port, I experienced no interference, echo, or odd background noises.

The rear-mounted customisable buttons were great to use. Their placement and travel distance ensure that they are a quality addition to this device. What’s more, they can be adjusted on the fly thanks to the central activation button. Accordingly, if you wish to stand out from the crowd, then this could be the option for you.

Build quality.

Thanks to the ergonomic design and the anti-friction analogue stick rings, the Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller is comfortable to use. Additionally, its noticeably lightweight design is fantastic for extended gaming sessions. On top of this, you must consider the excellent button placement and the nice travel distance for each input. During testing, I had no issues with input lag, nor were there any noticeable delays when using the bumpers or any of the other buttons.

Another fine feature is the detachable USB cable. Though this may seem minor, it is a much better option than any controller with an integrated wire. If your cable becomes damaged, the controller has to be disposed of. However, this design feature ensures that only the cable needs to be replaced, and this was a great approach.

Is the Sonic Boost Enhanced Wired Switch controller worth it?

If you love Sonic the Hedgehog, then you’ll cherish this stunning controller. Thanks to its vivid colours and incredible character model, this looks great in your hands or next to your machine. Additionally, it can be paired with the Sonic Peel Out travel case and the Sonic Kick game card holder.

Thanks to its fantastic mappable buttons, lightweight design and responsive inputs, this is a great option. In addition, the ergonomic design and smooth analogue sticks make this a pleasure to use. Accordingly, I adored it and I recommend that you buy it here!
