This is what was posted:

RISC OS Open are very pleased to announce the official release of RISC OS for the Raspberry Pi, “RISC OS Pi”. This is a watershed moment for RISC OS and represents the culmination of many months of hard work from a whole community of developers, testers and other contributors. It also means the Raspberry Pi can now boast support for the quick, compact, original ARM-based operating system.

This is the first ‘official’ release of RISC OS for the Raspberry Pi. It is intended to be programmed onto an SD card (2GB or larger) and can be downloaded free from the Raspberry Pi download site, as an SD card image or as a torrent. Alternatively, you can buy a specially-branded SD card already programmed and tested direct from RISC OS Open.

Eben Upton, from the Raspberry Pi Foundation, had the following to say about the RISC OS release: “Having spent a lot of time in my youth pining over Acorn Archimedes and RiscPC products, it’s a great moment for me personally to see an evolved version of the original ARM operating system brought to the Raspberry Pi. From the Foundation’s point of view, we welcome the arrival of an alternative desktop environment, offering a rich suite of applications, and with BBC BASIC only a few keystrokes away.”

Steve Revill, from RISC OS Open, added: “We’re proud and excited to have achieved this milestone in the development of RISC OS. It’s so good to see some great British software engineering to complement the fantastic British Raspberry Pi hardware.”

Halo 4 Forward Unto Dawn is almost over

The live-action mini series Halo 4 Forward Unto Dawn has only one part left to air, and it’s really good! We have a few exclusive’s coming up on Friday once the final part has aired.

Halo4_ForwardUntoDawn_KeyArt_11x17_F

Whilst we are not allowed to talk about part 5, we are allowed to show you a very short promo for something we have coming up on Friday:

There is more, but we are sworn to secrecy until 11am Friday.

“Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” tells an exciting story of heroism and sacrifice on a scale never before seen in the “Halo” universe, taking fans back to the beginning of the human and Covenant war and leading into the events of “Halo 4.” Set against the backdrop of a United Nations Space Command (UNSC) military academy, a group of highborn cadets are training to be the next generation of soldiers in the UNSC’s ongoing war with insurrectionists in the outer colonial planets. Among these cadets, Thomas Lasky struggles with his doubts about this war, and with the burden of expectations he may not be able to carry. As Lasky comes to terms with his potential as a military leader, the terrifying alien alliance known as the Covenant arrives and turns his world upside down. Inspired by the Master Chief, he must decide what it means to be a hero. “Halo” fans that experience Lasky’s thrilling origin story in “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” will be rewarded with special insights into the story of “Halo 4” and the “Halo Infinity Multiplayer” experience.

Directed by Stewart Hendler (“H+,” “Sorority Row”) and written by Todd Helbing and Aaron Helbing (“Smallville,” “Spartacus”), “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” features a diverse cast of established and up-and-coming Hollywood talent, including Tom Green (“Dance Academy”) as Thomas Lasky, Anna Popplewell (“The Chronicles of Narnia”) as Chyler Silva, Daniel Cudmore (“X2,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “The Twilight Saga”) as the Master Chief, Ayelet Zurer (“Angels & Demons,” “Munich”) as Mehaffey, Mike Dopud (“Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol”) as General Black, Enisha Brewster (“Footloose”) as April Orenski, Masam Holden (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Elizabethtown”) as Michael “Sully” Sullivan, Osric Chau (“2012”) as JJ Chen, Iain Belcher (“Supernatural”) as Vickers, and Kat De Lieva as Dimah.

“Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” is backed by a top-tier production team led by executive producers Lydia Antonini and Josh Feldman, former Warner Bros. and Playtone executives, respectively. Continuing its involvement with the “Halo” franchise, Legacy Effects (“The Hunger Games,” “The Avengers,” “Avatar”) is creating specialised costumes and armor, and visual effects are being designed by an award-winning team led by John Sullivan (“The Pacific”). Production services are provided by Herzog & Co.

An extended, 90-minute Special Edition featuring additional footage and bonus content will be available Nov. 6 in the “Halo 4” Limited Edition and on video on-demand services.

Set almost five years after the events of “Halo 3,” “Halo 4” takes the series in a bold new direction and sets the stage for an epic new sci-fi saga, in which the Master Chief returns to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe. In addition to a rich story and campaign, “Halo 4” introduces a groundbreaking new multiplayer offering, called “Halo Infinity Multiplayer,” that builds off of the “Halo” franchise’s rich multiplayer history and promises to continue to innovate and redefine the way people think about storytelling and multiplayer experiences.

– iPod share is 70%+ of market, still top mp3 player in most countries.

– New iTunes launching soon.

– 58% year over year growth of iPhones, versus 35% for smartphone market over the quarter.

– Touting how Canon and Amtrak use the iPhone, as well as reporters from BBC, CTV and the Wall Street Journal.

– Talking about enterprise companies using iPad including Volkswagen (more than 30 internal iPad apps).

– Sold 44 million iOS devices in September quarter.
– New quarterly record for app sales.
– Made a number of improvements to Maps in the past month, won’t stop improving.
– $4.2 billion for Retail stores. Up 18% year over year. Store’s best iPhone launch ever. New quarterly record for Mac sales, moving 1.1 million Macs. 18 new stores in 10 countries including 1st store in Sweden. 390 stores total. 94 million visitors vs 77.5 million last year. 19,000 visitors per store per week.
– Tax rate of 25.2% for fiscal 2012.
– Cash of $121.3 billion at end of the quarter, up $4 billion from prior quarter.
– Paid $2.5 billion in cash dividend in August.
– $2.65 / share dividend comes out in November.

– Entered share repurchase program, may also repurchase shares in open market share transactions.

Tim Cook reiterated the company’s iPhone 5 supply constraint as well..

Q: How are you thinking about supply ramp for the iPhone 5? How do challenges related to strong demand relate to past product launches?
A: Demand for iPhone is extremely robust. We’re thrilled with what we see. We are in a significant state of backlog right now. In terms of production, our output has improved significantly since earlier this month and I’m pleased with the progress we’ve made there. I’m pleased with the current level of output. This is the largest volume ramp in our history.

As for Microsoft’s Surface, Tim Cook felt the device was “confusing”

Q: How do you think about the Win8 and Surface tablets?
A: Haven’t played with a Surface yet. What we’re reading about it is that it’s a fairly compromised, confusing product. One of the toughest things you do when making a product is to make hard tradeoffs. We’ve done that with the iPad and the user experience is incredible.
You could design a car that flies and floats, but I don’t think it would do those things very well. People look at the iPad and competitive offerings, I think they conclude the iPad is the better choice.

Apple ended up selling 2.2 million more Apple TV’s than last year, but it is still a “hobby”

Q: How’s the Apple TV hobby going?
A: For Q4 we sold 1.3 million Apple TV’s, up more than 100% YoY. Sold more than 5 million Apple TV’s during the fiscal year, more than double the previous year. Business doing very well, but looking at revenue of the business, it’s quite small compared to the business as a whole. It’s a beloved hobby though. We continue to pull the string to see where it takes us.

Finally, Tim Cook reiterated the company’s idea that a 7″ tablet just won’t work.

Q: Can you talk about your pricing philosophy on the iPad Mini?
A: When we set out to build it, we didn’t set out to build a small, cheap tablet. We set out to build a smaller iPad that offered the full iPad experience. The difference between us and the competition is profound. 35% larger screen than 7″ tablets. 2 great cameras. Fastest communications with dual bank Wi-Fi. Fit and finish of our precision enclosure is breathtaking when held in your hands. That’s what we’ve done, the iPad mini has higher costs and gross margin is significantly below our corporate average. Height of the cost curve, but we want to make a large number and we’re going to work to try to get down the cost curve and get more efficient with manufacturing as we’ve done with our other products.

One of the things we try to do is to create a product that people will love for months and years and continue using. That’s what iPad Mini is designed to do. You can see that more broadly on iPad by looking at the usage statistics. Over 90% of web traffic from tablets is from iPads. Apple will not make a product that somebody may feel good about for the moment, but then won’t use when they get home. That’s not the experience we want our customers to have. I would encourage you to use an iPad mini and I don’t think you’d be using anything other than an iPad once you do that.
