COL_logo_DD_130910_9

The game is being created by a small team of seasoned developers based in Ubisoft Montreal. Child of Light has been developed on Ubisoft’s UbiArt Framework, a powerful engine that lets programmers and artists to bring their art to life by allowing original concept art to be inserted unedited into the game world. In Child of Light, the effect is that playing becomes akin to stepping into an interactive painting.

Child of Light is a reimagining of classic fairytales, inviting players on an epic adventure into the magical painted world of Lemuria. Players will uncover mysteries, participate in turn-by-turn combat inspired by classic JRPGs, and explore the mystical kingdom. The game puts players in the shoes of Aurora, a child stolen from her home, who, in her quest to return, must bring back the sun, the moon and the stars held captive by the mysterious Queen of the Night.

Helped by her companion Igniculus the firefly and several unlikely allies, Aurora will face her darkest fears, including dragons and other mystical creatures in this modern take on a coming-of-age story.

“Ubisoft’s strengths include its diversity and the freedom it gives its creative teams,” said Patrick Plourde, Creative Director, Ubisoft. “We want Child of Light to be like a playable poem, a love letter to art and video games.”

My Movies for Windows Phone Released

My Movies, the application that allows you to catalog your DVD/Blu-ray collection and carry the database around on your mobile device, has shipped for Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.  Read on for details!

My Movies, the application that allows you to catalog your DVD/Blu-ray collection and carry the database around on your mobile device, has shipped for Windows Phone 7.5 and 8.  I currently use this application on IOS and Android, and it comes in very handy for when I want to see what I already own.  It is now available for Windows Phone.  Here is the press release:

The waiting time is over – it is finally here!
My Movies for Windows Phone is now available in the Windows Phone Marketplace for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7.5 in twelve different languages, completing the My Movies offerings on all of the popular consumer smartphone platforms.

The application is available for purchase at $5.99, €5.49 or £4.99, or as a free trial limited to 50 titles – look for our company “Binnerup Consult” in the listings, as there are other applications with similar names, or open the below link for the application on the store website.

Download on Windows Phone Store

Functionality
The application functions as a companion application for users who use our application suite on other platforms, or it can be used on its own by users who are not already familiar with our service. The application requires a user account, through which your collection automatically synchronizes on multiple devices.
Titles can be added from our world class online service containing more than 750.000 DVD, Blu-ray or legacy HD DVD titles worldwide, through batch barcode scanning using your phones camera, or by manual searches by barcode or by title.
Should you have a title that is not available in our service, you can report it missing to our staff, who will add the title within 48 hours, or, if you find incorrect data on one or more titles, you can also report this to be corrected by our staff, both services which you will not find elsewhere. You can also choose to contribute to titles yourself to the service, through our Windows or Mac software.
In case you have personal titles such as vacation or wedding videos, you can create these manually.

Applications compared
The feature set of My Movies for Windows Phone is much more extensive than the feature set of our applications on iPhone and Android was at release time, however as the other applications have been in on-going development for several years, there are features that we have not been able to make available yet on Windows Phone.

Our originally planned feature set have been extended a few times through development, and have been extended again during the prerelease period, based on inputs of all of the users who have helped us on that – thank you!
It is our intention that the feature set on Windows Phone over time should catch up fully with iPhone and Android, but as with any other costly development project, it surely depends on the applications success on a platform with a lower market share, and therefore fewer users.

We have prepared a detailed list on our website of features currently available on the different platforms, which you can see by clicking here.

Free vs. Trial
Users of our applications on iPhone, iPad and Android will see a difference on the offerings on Windows Phone, where there is only one application available; “My Movies for Windows Phone” with a trial option versus the Free and Pro offerings on the other platforms.

The trial option functions the same way as the Free versions on iPhone, iPad or Android, where you can use the full functionality of the application, up to 50 titles, without any time restrictions. You can at any time purchase the application to lift the limit of 50 titles, making the application unlimited.

Your support is needed!
The waiting time for My Movies for Windows Phone has been long, both for users who have requested it for long, and for us, who have had the development ongoing for a long time.

Developing quality applications on platforms with as low market share as Windows Phone has a great risk – but it have been important for us to be able to support you, no matter which platform you choose for your phone.

It has also been important for us to do things right the first time, which hopefully also shows from our nearly three months prerelease period. The combination of setups and devices makes it near impossible to ensure that there will not be any problems at release time, but should you have any problems, we are available to help on support@mymovies.dk, and our developers are ready to resolve any problems should they occur – we hope you will contact us with any problem or concern that you might have, as it is not possible for us to contact you through reviews on the store.

The initial ratings and reviews of the application are essential to the future success, and we hope that those of you purchasing the application will help us by leaving a rating and a review on the store. Since these have an important impact on sales, they also are important to the future development resources assigned to the project.

Thank you for your support in our application suite!

I use this one myself and can highly recommend it.  If you have a movie collection and would like a convenient app for managing your collection while on the go, have a look at My Movies for Windows Phone!

Call of Duty: Ghosts, and music icon Eminem are giving fans another reason to line up this November 5th. With Activision’s new blockbuster Call of Duty and Eminem’s new The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (Aftermath/Interscope) dropping on the same date this November, fans of both are in store for an incredible offer at a great price. In close collaboration with GameStop, anyone who pre-orders the game at GameStop will get their copy of Call of Duty: Ghosts at launch, which will include a code, at time of pick up, to download a special edition of Eminem’s new The Marshall Mathers LP 2 featuring an exclusive, bonus studio track at a special price of $8.99.

Call of Duty Ghosts Logo Black

“The energy and intensity of ‘Survival’ really matches Call of Duty: Ghosts,” commented Eminem. “I’m excited to continue to be a part of the franchise.”

This program continues the close coordination announced in August, when Eminem first revealed “Survival,” a track from the upcoming album release as part of Activision’s worldwide live reveal event for the multiplayer mode of developer Infinity Ward’s new title. The ongoing collaboration between Activision and Eminem will continue later this month with a music video trailer featuring “Survival” and Call of Duty: Ghosts, and will extend throughout the launch of the blockbuster title.

Call of Duty is the ultimate adrenaline rush. It’s the intensity and heart-pounding excitement you feel as the action unfolds. And Eminem embodies this same spirit and captures this in his music,” said Tim Ellis, CMO of Activision Publishing, Inc. “The breadth of this program takes our partnership to a new level and will continue to unfold in the months to come. It’s going to be a massive day in entertainment with the launch of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Marshall Mathers LP 2 both hitting on November 5th.”

The offer is redeemable through Monday, November 19th, 11:59PM EST and applies to purchases of Call of Duty: Ghosts exclusively at GameStop locations as well as select additional retailers worldwide. Participating fans will receive a code on receipt with their purchase of Call of Duty: Ghosts. The code will make available for purchase at the special price of $8.99 an edition of The Marshall Mathers LP 2 featuring not only the track “Survival,” but also a bonus, exclusive studio track.

Call of Duty is an entertainment juggernaut and cultural phenomenon.  We are excited for the upcoming release of the new installment of this blockbuster franchise, Call of Duty: Ghosts,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of merchandising at GameStop.  “We look forward to celebrating the worldwide November launch of this great game that is on track to be the most pre-ordered title of the year.”

The news of this limited time offer follows additional pre-order headlines from last week, in which Activision and GameStop revealed that gamers who pre-order Call of Duty: Ghosts at GameStop will receive a pack of content that includes the bonus classic Simon “Ghost” Riley multiplayer character. Made famous in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® 2, the return of one of the most iconic characters in Call of Duty history as a playable multiplayer character is a first for the series and is a pre-order incentive only available at GameStop.

Are you ready for Gadget Show Live @ Christmas

0
33,000 Visitors are expected at this years Gadget Show Live @ Christmas – 20% up on 2012. Over 30,000 avid gamers; over 24,000 considering next gen console purchase 1-3 November, Earls Court, London http://www.gadgetshowlive.net/

Research carried out by organisers of Gadget Show Live @ Christmas, Upper Street Events, has revealed that 93 per cent (30,690) of all visitors to the event are avid gamers.

Stats also show that 73 per cent (24,090) of visitors are considering buying a PlayStation 4, which launches in the UK on 29 November, and 69 per cent (22,770) are weighing up the pros and cons of purchasing an Xbox One (releasing on 22 November). 86 per cent said their decision could be swayed by being able to play the new consoles at Gadget Show Live @ Christmas.

christmas_logo_2013_jpg_jpgcopy

More than a third (35 per cent) of the show’s visitors are hardcore gamers playing for more than 10 hours per week. 46 per cent play between one and 10 hours. 94 per cent play mobile games, 88 per cent own a console and 77 per cent play PC games.  Over half (56 per cent) said they would be more inclined to buy a specific title if there were given the chance to play it first at Gadget Show Live @ Christmas.

This year, Upper Street Events is expecting 33,000 visitors to attend Gadget Show Live @ Christmas – more than 20 per cent more than last year, which attracted 27,280 gadget fans. Over 160 tech companies exhibited at the launch event, including Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Warner Bros, 2K, Overclockers, Turtle Beach and Game.

Game, the UK’s leading interactive entertainment retailer, is confirmed as the official gaming retailer for Gadget Show Live @ Christmas 2013. The Game Zone Stage is making a welcome return to the event – a highlight of every visitor’s experience, the stage allows gamers to try out some of the newest titles (often before release) and gaming technology.

“These are big numbers and we’re making big promises, but we’re confident in the stats because we know from exhibitor feedback last year that our visitors want to play unreleased games at the show and they want to spend money on software and hardware,” said Katie Tozer, event manager.

“And that’s the big difference between Gadget Show Live @ Christmas and all other consumer gaming events in the UK – our visitors turn up at the show with shopping in mind and they are not shy about putting their hands in their pockets.”

Gadget Show Live @ Christmas – the sister show to the UK’s biggest consumer tech show, Gadget Show Live – debuted in 2012 and returns for its second edition on 1-3 November at new venue Earls Court in London.
