Research carried out by organisers of Gadget Show Live @ Christmas, Upper Street Events, has revealed that 93 per cent (30,690) of all visitors to the event are avid gamers.
Stats also show that 73 per cent (24,090) of visitors are considering buying a PlayStation 4, which launches in the UK on 29 November, and 69 per cent (22,770) are weighing up the pros and cons of purchasing an Xbox One (releasing on 22 November). 86 per cent said their decision could be swayed by being able to play the new consoles at Gadget Show Live @ Christmas.
More than a third (35 per cent) of the show’s visitors are hardcore gamers playing for more than 10 hours per week. 46 per cent play between one and 10 hours. 94 per cent play mobile games, 88 per cent own a console and 77 per cent play PC games. Over half (56 per cent) said they would be more inclined to buy a specific title if there were given the chance to play it first at Gadget Show Live @ Christmas.
This year, Upper Street Events is expecting 33,000 visitors to attend Gadget Show Live @ Christmas – more than 20 per cent more than last year, which attracted 27,280 gadget fans. Over 160 tech companies exhibited at the launch event, including Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, Electronic Arts, Capcom, Warner Bros, 2K, Overclockers, Turtle Beach and Game.
Game, the UK’s leading interactive entertainment retailer, is confirmed as the official gaming retailer for Gadget Show Live @ Christmas 2013. The Game Zone Stage is making a welcome return to the event – a highlight of every visitor’s experience, the stage allows gamers to try out some of the newest titles (often before release) and gaming technology.
“These are big numbers and we’re making big promises, but we’re confident in the stats because we know from exhibitor feedback last year that our visitors want to play unreleased games at the show and they want to spend money on software and hardware,” said Katie Tozer, event manager.
“And that’s the big difference between Gadget Show Live @ Christmas and all other consumer gaming events in the UK – our visitors turn up at the show with shopping in mind and they are not shy about putting their hands in their pockets.”
Gadget Show Live @ Christmas – the sister show to the UK’s biggest consumer tech show, Gadget Show Live – debuted in 2012 and returns for its second edition on 1-3 November at new venue Earls Court in London.
