Disney Infinity: Toy Box 2.0 lands on iOS today

0

Today Disney has released the little delayed Disney Infinity: Toy Box 2.0 for your iPhone and iPad for free, its mobile app has just hit the App Store.

The app is a new addition to the Disney Infinity game universe and features all of the tools and enhanced features of Toy Box 2.0. Not only that, but it also features multiplayer functionality, allowing those on mobile to be able to create Toy Boxes together using Marvel and Disney characters, vehicles, and items. iOS 8 Metal graphics engine’s processing power is also supported, which helps to offer a seamless play experience across console and iOS devices.

Toy Box 2.0 allows players to transfer their creations cross-platform, allowing players to play the included Toy Box Games or even create their own to share with their friends. This is a worthwhile feature as I have a feeling using your tablet or phone to create your Toy Boxes will offer a much more intuitive experience from the use of its touch screen. Also, being able to create while on the go is a much-needed addition.\

EVOLVE – New Trailer

0

Are you ready for Evolve, four players team together to hunt down a single player controlled monster or is the monster hunting them? Whichever is the case, developer Turtle Rock Studios understands that not everyone is ready for the online multiplayer experience. That’s why there’s a fully featured offline solo mode, so players have a chance to practice their moves and familiarize themselves with the different characters before jumping online.

This video demonstrates solo mode from both sides, starting with the monster’s point of view. Playing as a Wraith, the player has to learn to make good use of combination moves, dashes, and evasion.

Evolve-Jan-First-Look-Screenshots-11_thumb.png

In Defense mode, the monster has a number of minions fighting at its side, so rely on them for fodder or distraction. Not only is solo mode beneficial for learning how to play, and testing out new strategies, but all experience and unlocks are applied to the whole game. Meaning all character unlocks and weapon upgrades earned in solo mode are applied to online multiplayer.

Later on, the video shifts to the Hunters’ point of view. What makes solo mode unique is that the player has the ability to switch between characters on the fly, making the player a sort of one-person army. If there’s an impressive combo you want to execute, like throwing down traps so that the monster gets stuck on powerful mines, then the player can coordinate between the characters to make it happen.

Sit back and watch the 22 minute video. Evolve is set to release on February 10th for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

The beta will allow players to rank up through online multiplayer, which will reward them with new weapons, vehicles, gadgets, and gear. Some of the unlockable gear will give players an upper hand as they can use faster getaway methods, such as the zipline or use of muscle cars, or take down enemies in a non-lethal way.

Battlefield Hardline will be available at retail on 17th March (North America) Europe on the 19th March and UK on the 20th March.

Final Thoughts

The Wikipad 7 isn’t a new release, in fact it has been available now since 2013, but there have recently been seem serious drops in price which makes it worth taking a look at.

The processor is the NVIDIA Tegra 3, so it’s not the latest and greatest (again, its been out a while) but with 12 cores it’s by no means a slouch either!

The screen gives a very clear image, although it’s not full 1080p, and it might take you a little while to get used the screen dimensions, but when using it in normal tablet mode it gives you that little bit extra screen for icons and applications.

Connectivity to a large screen TV or monitor it easy using a mini-HDMI cable, although there isn’t one in the box, but then given the new price for the Wikipad you can’t really complain.

As we mentioned earlier all the buttons on the Wikipad itself are on the top of the screen which makes it a lot easier when using the controller, which brings us nicely onto the controller. It’s rather big and hefty, and looks a little plasticy, but it does get the job done and it certainly makes it easier to play certain games than without it. I can imagine though that a few people might not take it outside the house given it’s size. The Wikipad also comes with a number of games preinstalled, and you can of course visit Google Play and buy or download more. Just be warned that there are some games out there that wont run very well due to the hardware requirements, and there are some games that are not compatible with the controller, so make sure you check before you buy. There is a button mapper app included on the Wikipad to help you map controls for other games, but this can be a little fiddly to get working, but it does work!

The battery life was pretty good – not the best on the market today, but then again remember it’s age and new price. That said you should be able to get some good gameplay times out of it.

Increasing the storage is simply a case of popping in a micro SD card, and you play a lot of games you might want to consider that.

So all in all, if you looking for a low priced gaming tablet that you really should take a look at the Wikipad 7.

Available now for £59.99 from Ebuyer.
