Orange Film To Go Service Launched

If you are an Orange customer, you may already take advantage of their Orange Wednesday Cinema Ticket offer. Now they are offering a free film from iTunes every Thursday.

Orange to go

what you need to know

  • Each code request for the week’s film costs 35p and can only be sent to you up to three times.
  • Remember to redeem the code and download the film on Thursday.
  • You need iTunes 10.0 or later and an iTunes UK account.
  • Film is available for up to 30 days once downloaded.
  • You have 48 hours to complete viewing once the film starts playing.

So I think I will give this a try and see if it is any good. I would prefer to choose my own film rather than have Orange do it for me, but hey, a film for 35p isn’t bad.

Huffington Post Celebrity [Entertainment] – Watch celeb interviews from Cee-Lo, Kim Kardashian, and Fred Armisen (we <3 Portlandia). Think Entertainment Tonight, for the web.

Engadget [Tech] – A huge repository of reviews, and opinions on the latest gadgets, gizmos, software, and all things tech. It’s Mecca for technologists – we recommend daily viewings to keep up to date with Tim, Darren, and the rest of the electronics-laiden crew at Engadget.

The Interface & Sessions [Music] – Check out intimate concert performances and behind-the-scenes footage from big name bands like Train, Adele, TV on the Radio, Iron & Wine, and Gorillaz as well as indie groups like Manchester Orchestra, Battles, Foster the People, The Dodos, and Chk Chk Chk. Seriously people – if you like music, you’ll spend hours in here. You’ll be blown away by what’s available here – seriously, we’ve been asking AOL for access to this content for almost a year now… it’s that good.

Full CD Listening Party [Music] – Turn Boxee into a music jukebox that plays full releases from all types of different artists from Vanessa Carlton (singer of the jangly piano song you secretly love), Electronica veterans Underworld, rapper Black Rob (as opposed to your friend White Mike), and NY’s post-punk plus pianos and pipes band Aficionado.

Moviefone [Movies] – movie trailers for the latest films & celebrity interviews. Watch Leo talk about Inception, Will Ferrell discuss the intense physical training he went through to get in shape for The Other Guys, and Jason Bateman explain what it means to be inside Ryan Reynolds body. [we’re hoping there’s also a secret easter egg where you can have the moviefone guy read you bedtime stories]

AOL Home OR How I Became Master of My Domain [Home] – Thanks to this section alone, my home Feng Shui is off the charts, I’ve made healthy meals every night this week, and I installed a fountain in my dining room chandelier that can accommodate water, chocolate, or cheese. For all of us who need a little help around the home there’s a near-infinite amount of videos to help teach you how to cook (with Curtis Stone), fix things around the house (with Eric Stromer), keep yourself and kids entertained with crafts (with Kendra), and elevate your home decor game to the next level. And seriously if anyone makes a working fondue fountain inside of a chandelier, we’ll send you a Boxee Box.

BBC Launch Redesigned iPlayer for Your TV

Today the BBC have launched a redesigned version of their iPlayer, and it’s been specially redesigned for your TV!

10052011_featured__1965360c

It is available from today on the PlayStation 3 games console, and will be adapted for an array of set-top boxes and internet-capable televisions. This is great new as even though you could access iPlayer on different devices and platforms, the presentation was inconsistent and it could be difficult to navigate and use.

The new version features menus that are easier to use with a normal remote control and better personalisation features that remember viewers’ searches and them to quickly access their favourite programmes.

Step By Step Bare Metal Install of A Windows Home Server 2011

windows-home-server

Introduction

As much as we would like to get it right the first time or even the second or third time this rarely happens even more so when you are working with a new technology. So from all my initial forays into installing Windows Home Server 2011 I have decided pass on what ultimately worked for me in this Step by Step Tutorial of a Bare Metal Install or even a Re-Install of A Windows Home Server 2011 Server. Hopefully this will elevate some of the pain I went through.

Prerequisites Needed…
– Keyboard, Mouse, and Monitor
– PC/Server that meets the Windows Home Server 2011 Minimum requirements
– Windows Home Server 2011 Install DVD & License Key

Disclaimer

The How to information is intended as a guide or helping resource to those who are to do a Bare Metal Install of A Windows Home Server 2011 . There is no 100% guarantee that this will install correctly the 1st time installing your home server Operating System. I assume no responsibility for any consequences of the install and the user will assume the full risk of any adverse effects of a bad installation.

Before Getting Started…

Before going any further please move any important Data off your System Hard Disk onto either another Internal Drive of your home server or another form of Media altogether (External Drive, ROM, etc.…)

(This Next Step is Optional)

Unplug all your internal drives (Along with any external drives) from your Mother Board with the exception of your designated Primary System Drive. If this is a re-install or you just want to insure that the primary drive you have chosen by the WHS 2011 Installer, This will give those of us who are paranoid the feeling of security that the drives with your valuable Data is not accidentally chosen as the primary drive by the WHS 2011 Installer. The likely of this happening is small but just an added step just in case.

Once your Windows Home Server 2011 DVD has been inserted into the DVD ROM and booted into the Setup Screen please do the following…
1) Click on “New Installation”

Install1
2) Look over all the Hard Disks on your server and insure that the Primary System Hard Disk you want is the one chosen (If all the hard disk have been disconnected it should be your only choice).

Install2
3) Check the “I understand that if I click install, all files and folders on my primary hard drive will be deleted” (Even if you still have your other drives still plugged in they should not be effected by the re-install).

4) Click “Install”

5) Now sit back, relax and grab a book and wait approximately the next 30 to 45 minutes while the 1st half of the installation continues. Your Server will automatically reboot itself when ready.
Install3
