Get a $100 Instant Rebate on HP’s TouchPad

From August 5th through 7th, if you are in the US, you can get an instant $100 off the price of HP’s TouchPad. Is this a great marketing ploy or is HP desperate for sales?

For the next three days HP are doing a deal to get $100 off. That makes the 16GB version $399.99 and the 32GB version $499.99.

I have to say that I am a little surprised that HP are knocking $100 off the price of the TouchPad so soon. If it is selling so well, they wouldn’t need to drop the price after it being out for such a short time, would they?
