Xbox to bring more than 45 entertainment apps soon

Microsoft have today announced that more than 45 new entertainment app experiences are coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 globally. On top of this, for the US, the Xbox One will see a new Twitter integration with its TV and entertainment apps landing sometime before Christmas.

Twitter_OneGuide_24-LAD

Twitter will be directly integrated into Xbox One’s TV experience in the U.S. Twitter will be optimized for the biggest screen in your house in a smart, contextual way offering the ability to see Tweets related to the cable or satellite TV shows you’re watching as they’re happening.

MiniGuide_Twitter_052914

Additionally, the Twitter experience on Xbox One will be integrated into the TV listings section of OneGuide where you will be able to see the shows that people are tweeting about in real-time. These shows will also be highlighted in a new “trending” section within OneGuide so you know what’s popular right then and there.

A commercial break turns into a quick and easy opportunity to see what other viewers are tweeting about without pulling out your phone, swiping at a tablet, or taking your attention away from your TV.

Jana Messerschmidt, VP Business Development and Platform at Twitter, explains:

“People turn to Twitter every day to enjoy and engage in the real-time conversations about their favorite TV shows. We’re enhancing that experience on the Xbox One with a unique Watch with Twitter integration. It will now be easier to discover what shows are trending in real-time on Twitter, tune-in and follow the conversation right from within the Xbox One interface. We are excited to work with the Xbox One team and continue to deliver unique entertainment experiences.”

If you are a veteran of the original Wii Sports series on Wii, step up to the batting plate or into the ring on 27th June when both Baseball and Boxing release on Nintendo eShop for Wii U, rounding off the Wii Sports Club range already comprising Tennis, Bowling and Golf.

While for those who want to get their hands on the full roster of five sports on one disc, Wii Sports Club will be launching at retail as a packaged version on 11th July, completing the competitive return to action for the series with HD graphics, new and improved controls, as well as online play and community features supported by Miiverse.

Wii U Logo

Wii Sports Club kicked off in November 2013 with the Nintendo eShop releases of both Bowling and Tennis, followed by Golf the following month. With the introduction of an online multiplayer versus system, users with broadband Internet access can now compete in a regional club ranking system and represent their local area, with the added ability of Miiverse integration allowing handwrittenimportant home run.

In the field, pitching is performed by holding the GamePad upright, with the action taking place in first-person view. Different types of pitch can be selected to attempt to bamboozle the batsman, but it’s down to you to adjust the power and aim of your throw.

If the opponent does manage to return your pitch, try to keep the centre of the GamePad aimed at the ball, as a catching opportunity may even come your way… With Boxing, bobbing and weaving your way to victory is now more fun and challenging than ever before, with players able to use one Wii Remote Plus controller in each hand to allow for more precise offensive and defensive manoeuvres. Before you enter the ring and represent your regional club online however, don’t forget to hone your technique by taking on Skill Shaper challenges such as Speed Bag, which requires players to keep an eye on an overhead display and pull off the right punches in the order instructed, or Pro Puncher, where players must use speed and accuracy to smash targets that appear in front of them.

To mark the launch of Baseball and Boxing on Nintendo eShop from 27th June, Wii U owners who download Wii Sports Club will get a 48-hour free trial enabling them to play the two sports, as well as Bowling, Tennis and Golf. The trial is open to everyone, even to people who sampled a free trial of Wii Sports Club before. Once the trial period ends, players can purchase a Day Pass on Nintendo eShop for £1.79* to play all available sports for a 24-hour period, or can purchase permanent access to both Boxing and Baseball for £8.99.

Two very different sports lie in store for fans on 27th June when both Baseball and Boxing release on Nintendo eShop for Wii U. For the full package of five sports on one disc, Baseball, Boxing, Tennis, Bowling and Golf, Wii Sports Club will also release at retail as a packaged game on 11th July

Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion DLC Pack Out Now

Call of Duty: Ghosts players on Xbox One and Xbox 360 can now purchase Invasion, the game’s third epic DLC Pack. Invasion’s four new multiplayer maps include:

  • Departed: Set in a rural Mexican town during the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration, where players who complete the map’s unique Field Order will unlock the Death Mariachi killstreak. Armed with dual-wielding pistols, the Death Mariachi settles scores, with each kill turning enemy players into another member of the band, and a temporary squad mate.
  • Pharaoh: The abandoned archeological site of an ancient Egyptian palace. Players will have to be on the lookout for collapsing monuments and urns full of flesh-eating scarabs, among other surprises in this multi-level map. Players who unlock this map’s Field Order will be handsomely rewarded with the Blessing of Anubis, the half jackal/half human protector of the dead.
  • Mutiny: A remote Caribbean island harboring an eerie pirate hideout complete with abandoned trading posts and prison cells, where speed and stealth are a must as players navigate the narrow and intertwining pathways. Players that unlock “Mutiny’s” Field Order will find themselves escorted by two ethereal ghost pirates who will happily send enemy players down to Davey Jones’ locker on their behalf.
  • Favela: A refreshed version of the fan-favorite map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, this Brazilian shantytown has seen substantial change since its original release. Buildings once under construction are now complete, while others have crumbled into a state of disrepair. Players must avoid falling to their death as they traverse the map from one building to the next, avoiding enemy snipers taking advantage of the map’s long sightlines. Players who complete “Favela’s” Field Order will be able to call in air support from a nearby Y-8 Gunship.

Anchoring the Call of Duty: Ghosts Invasion DLC Pack is the next installment in the game’s Extinction mode episodic narrative, “Episode 3: Awakening.” In Awakening, the team descends into the perilous alien underworld to strike at the subterranean fortress of the Ancestors – the mysterious puppet-masters behind the Cryptid invasion. Armed with a range of new hi-tech weapons and equipment, the team must penetrate a series of defensive barriers to reach the Ark and unlock the secrets of the Ancestors’ psychic powers. As the final battle draws closer, the fate of the Earth and the future of the human race hang in the balance.

Wargaming today launched Update 1.4 and E3 trailer for its free-to-play action MMO World of Warplanes in Russia and Europe with players from North America getting the update on 4th June. WoWP_Screens_Warplanes_Update_1_4_Image_03

The World of Warplanes game client is now divided into HD version for high-performance computers to play using the max graphics settings and SD version for virtual pilots who do not use the highest graphics quality settings or want to save space on their hard disk.

WoWP_Screens_Warplanes_Update_1_4_Image_02

Update 1.4 introduced a total of five new premium Tier VI fighters, each representing the five nations in the game: the Soviet Bell P-39Q-15 Airacobra fighter, German Supermarine Spitfire V DB 605, British North American Mustang Mk.I, Japanese Kawasaki Ki-88, and the American Grumman XP-50 heavy fighter.

Given the many attributes of matchmaking, World of Warplanes’ developers are constantly tweaking the algorithms of the system to make battles more engaging. The new version of the matchmaking system, Matchmaker 2.0, now ensures that the number of flight squads is equal among both teams and that the types and tiers of all planes on opposing sides are well-balanced. Additionally, the new system gives players a higher chance of being matched up with similarly tiered planes.

Update 1.4 will also introduce two new maps: “Winter War” and “Hidden Airbase”. Lit up by the Northern Lights, the first one will task players with fighting enemies in a dark and hazardous environment and is available for aircraft of tiers I to V. The “Hidden Airbase” features a secret military facility, located in the polar region and surrounded by glacier pathways. This one is available for aircraft of tiers V to X.

Crytek’s new IP, HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age

0

Brace yourself for a spine-chilling new multiplayer experience on PC and consoles as Crytek ventures into the shadows in “HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age”.

hunt_logo

An all-new IP, HUNT is a third-person action game where up to four players band together to fend off an onslaught of bloodthirsty creatures and track down breathtaking bosses. Featuring intense co-op gameplay, HUNT is the debut title from Crytek USA Corp., and will be published by Crytek as part of their growing Games-as-a-Service range. Players won’t have to wait long to take a closer look at HUNT in action, with the game going on show at this year’s E3 expo from 10-12th June.

David Adams, CEO of Crytek USA Corp., said: “In HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we’ve created. From the outset of the development process, we’ve poured our imaginations into the game so that everyone who plays HUNT will discover a challenging experience that feels fresh, captivating and rich in possibilities.”

hunt_keyart

Set in the late 1800s, HUNT depicts a world where so-called myths and folklore actually point to the terrifying truth about evil lurking just beyond the fringes of day-to-day life. Players act as hunters willing to take up arms and risk their necks by venturing into the deadliest of territories and facing the hideous creatures that have overrun them.

Adding to the thrill of the hunt is a special content generation system that ensures players never encounter exactly the same environment or set of enemies twice. As the surprises come thick and fast, the terror of knowing that one of the game’s grueling boss battles could be just around the corner will keep everyone’s pulses pounding. Defeating bosses will require close collaboration between hunters as they attempt to figure out and take down some truly terrifying monsters.

HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age is scheduled to enter Closed Beta testing on PC later this year, and players can sign up for a chance to experience the game first at http://www.huntthegame.com
