Hitman Episode 2: Sapienza launches today, seeing Agent 47 target Silvio Caruso, a brilliant but troubled bioengineer who is reportedly working on a DNA-Specific virus able to infect anyone anywhere in the world.
“Sapienza is a strong contrast to the Paris fashion show, it’s the nearest thing to a small town released in a Hitman game which we haven’t done before on this scale,” said Hannes Seifert, Studio Head at Io-Interactive. “It’s great to see players having fun with the additional content we have been releasing weekly, and now with a new location I can’t wait to see what they get up to in the sunshine of Sapienza.”
Hitman started with a Prologue and Paris location in March, Sapienza is Episode 2 and then in May Agent 47 will travel to Marrakesh. From there Hitman will deliver regular monthly content updates, including three additional locations; Thailand, the United States and the season conclusion in Japan later in 2016.
Sapienza is free as part of the Full Experience Pack. The disc version of Hitman arrives in January 2017.

Murder for Profit

From simple assassination contracts to killing sprees on the blood-soaked streets of Tamriel’s sprawling cities, carve your path into the good graces of the Dark Brotherhood. New Assassins’ Passive Skills
This all-new skill line relates to murdering citizens and allowing the Shadows of Sithis to protect you from suffering consequences. Because those deaths were sanctioned by Sithis, you are the hand of the Void; you are the embodiment of death itself. The rules of Justice are for those bound by Nirn, not those who are directed by the ideals of Sithis.

It’s time, for PlayStation fans at least, for the second Black Ops III DLC pack, ‘Eclipse’. After ‘Awakening’, Treyarch’s first drop of the year, the general consensus was focused on the sheer size of the initial four maps, they looked great, but often conformed to one extreme, be it either too large or too small. Eclipse hopefully might change that up a little due to the stronger emphasis on its medium sized arenas.
Who could’ve thought that an isolated experiment could go disastrously wrong? As per usual, we’ll get four multiplayer maps, including a remake, and of course, a zombies offering too. The first map, Spire, sets the aesthetic bar high. Set in a futuristic airport above the clouds, you’ll of course notice the clean, modern styling above all else. Filled with open courts and with little room for verticality, venturing through the obvious wide openings is nothing short of suicide. Take the roundabout route however, and you’ll be navigating wall-runs that inevitably lead behind some of the more powerful cover positions. There’s nothing too memorable about Spire besides the arresting visual appeal; yet it’s simply a solid, mid-range, map featuring a constant battle for the higher cover.
If wall-running, relentless flanking and modes like Uplink or Capture the Flag tickle your fancy, then Rift is certainly for you. As a stark contrast to Spire’s cleanliness, the raised, dark military compound plays host to a grimier setting and overlooks running lava. When your attention isn’t drawn by the map’s myriad of moving parts, you’ll generally be funnelled down narrow deathtraps/corridors. Once again, the outer portions of the map are where you’ll get the most usage from your thrust packs, and are generally where the sneakier routes lie. The layout itself is a little on the bland side, particularly for gametypes such as Team Deathmatch, where people’s main concern is to get themselves into (somewhat cheap feeling) head-glitch spots. If you’re not playing a fast paced, hunting/evading type mode such as Uplink, I could see this being the weakest map of the pack.
This is not the optimal weapon for this scenarioKnockout is likely going to be a fan favourite; its Shaolin inspired temple approach caters for all types of play. The prominent Oriental exterior sections offer great mid-range battles, whilst the fantastically decorated interiors are deadly tight and very much in favour of close quarter bouts. A few tricky wall-runs are dotted around, as are also (surprisingly) some spike pits in which to avoid. Unfortunately there can be a fair amount of shotgun camping whilst attempting to navigate the brutal interiors, but sadly that’s to be expected.
As is the standard, Eclipse features a remake of a ‘popular’ classic map from the bygone era. This time we get Verge, a complete overhaul, and in fact almost unrecognisable from its inspiration; World at War’s ‘Banzai’. The key bridge is still the main focal point of the map in terms of gameplay and visuals; only times have changed a little in the near decade it’s been since WaW. Instead, there’s very much a Mad Max feel, what with two factions warring it out over the last source of pure water. It’s not just the unexpectedly pinned on plot either that resonates with this; the art style is very reminiscent of the pop culture legend, especially when venturing indoors. Whilst the shrinking and shortening of the bridge does downplay its previous importance, the map also features caves, tunnels and a large body of water to help try and escape the torrential madness that playing Domination gives.
The horde of glowing eyes behind you is ever so slightly unnervingFor a lot of people, the prospect of a new zombies experience is enough to warrant the entry fee alone. Zetsubou No Shima hopes to deliver on this with the returning ‘Origins’ characters being stranded on a lush, remote island somewhere in the Pacific. Eerily overgrown facility aside, you’ll be dealing with zombies, path blocking spiders, ‘roided Venus flytraps and generally catching up on some horticulture. It might lack the initial visual appeal of the two previous zombie experiences, what with neon lights and Wolfenstein-esque castles being somewhat of a rarity in the jungle. But the claustrophobic funnelling through the murky undergrowth does bring a certain level of apprehension to the table. Needless to say, there’ll be many secrets and easter eggs to hunt out and keep you occupied too, provided you can comfortably navigate the maze-like warren that is…
If there’s one thing that Eclipse certainly has going for it, then it’s the amount of effort gone into the visuals. It’s host to by far the most vibrant and appealing settings we’ve seen yet, and despite some shortcomings in playability for one or two maps, I’d say it’s a success. Whilst some are much better suited to specific, objective oriented game-types, it’s still great to have fresh content. Zetsubou No Shima will no doubt go down well with fans of the zombies mode; its unnerving setting is a welcome change of pace too. The lack of any new weapons or other content, besides those only attainable through supply drops, is still a little disheartening however, especially considering the price of the individual DLC packs/season pass. Overall though, if you plan on playing Black Ops throughout the rest of the year, the Eclipse DLC will undoubtedly be something for you to consider.
The upcoming release of God Eater 2 Rage Burst in the West could be considered a collection celebrating the success of the franchise. After all, the first game is being given away to anyone that purchases the second game.
Those familiar with the Sword Art Online anime will no doubt already know all about the concept behind it. A group of players get stuck in the server of the very online game that they enjoyed playing on a regular basis. Whereas dying in-game initially meant instant death in the real world, the rules have been somewhat changed to make the penalty not as… grave.
God Eater 2 Rage Burst takes place 3 years after the events of the original title. There are a few key changes that make it different from the original. For instance, it is now possible to gain bonuses by fulfilling combat objectives. This should add some depth to the combat mechanics and replay value given the incentive of coming back to missions to fulfil all objectives. The title also has connections to the first title that will possibly surprise anyone who has played the original.
It’s impressive to think of how far the Tales of series has come in the West. There was a time when a copy of Tales of Vesperia would cost you a pretty penny, due to the initial limited print run because of low sale expectations. These days this franchise is so widely known that it is possible for Bandai Namco to make enough copies to satisfy the ever growing demand for new titles.
The Detail out for Steam on the PC with Episode 3 out on the 28th April, is an adventure game that takes the player to the streets of a crime-ridden city and into the shoes of Reginald “Reggie” Moore, a veteran detective frustrated with the lack of justice, and Joseph “Joe” Miller, a former confidential informant dragged back into the life of crime he barely escaped.
The player investigates criminal activity and scenes of murder, arresting suspects and interrogating them for information, all while trying to navigate the pitfalls of an underworld where every choice holds consequences.
Inspired by classic adventure games from Westwood and LucasArts and the new series from Telltale Games, The Detail combines realistic crime drama themes, like The Wire, with a hand-drawn graphic novel art style.
Zen Studios are about to continue their traction of taking iconic film franchises as inspiration for new Zen Pinball 2 tables. This time the sci fi universe of Aliens will come to life for fans with the release of the ‘Aliens Pinball’ pack that consists of three tables. We were fortunate to have early hands on with the content:
Table 1 – Aliens
Based on the now legendary 1986 landmark film ‘Aliens’ , this table is my favourite from this content pack. With the giant Alien Queen placed menacingly at the top of the table, it is instantly awesome in its table design. Boosted by dialogue and audio taken directly from the film, there is a real connection to the franchise that is woven throughout the table.
I felt it had the most natural loop combos to find of the three tables which can unlock bonus modes and mini games to boost your score. It is a very busy table which will take some time to learn how to activate the high scoring secrets but it just felt incredible to play and quickly creates the atmosphere of the Aliens film and maintains it throughout.
Table 2 – Aliens Vs Predator
The second table pays homage to the first time two sci-fi Legends met for the first time in 2004’s Alien Vs Predator film. The whole table looks amazing with a Predator watching over the table and the Temple at the top end. Sadly the dialogue was not talking from the film so does sound a little off but it still generates an intense playing atmosphere.
Again the loops felt natural to find though the mini games that can be triggered were a little tricky to activate and then play. The little details on the table design are great with Predator symbols featuring on ramps and loops and big fan of the Alien head serving as the ball launcher. Sections of the table change just as the Temple in the film moved walls do. Having a faceoff on the table of Predator and an Alien was distracting in a fun way throughout. A fun table to learn.
Table 3 – Alien Isolation
Of the three tables in this content pack, the Alien Isolation table was my least favourite. Based on the 2014 video game from Creative Assembly, it was the more difficult table to get to grips with. The audio really creates the same tension that the game relishes in tormenting players with, the table even has an Alien stalking Amanda Ripley as you are playing.
I found this the more challenging table of the three with many cheap chances to lose balls and I just couldn’t hit the right combo activators before losing a ball and ending my shot. It has mini games such as hacking which the Alien Isolation game uses and by using the same audio effects and dialogue, it succeeds in complimenting the other two tables to round off a superb content pack for fans the Aliens franchise.
