Halo Wars 2 brings the wars to Twitter via DM

To tease the return of the acclaimed strategy video game franchise, Halo Wars 2, Xbox is bringing the war of wits from the game world to everyone on Twitter.

Xbox and 343 Industries have partnered with Twitter, twofifteenmccann, and EMT (Emerging Media Technologies), to create a media-first real-time social media strategy game to be promoted via online video and social posts to a wide audience and played entirely through Twitter’s DM platform. This is the first of its kind and demonstrates the scope of what is capable via Twitter’s DM platform, tapping into the exciting world of gaming.

“We are thrilled to have partnered with Twitter to celebrate the upcoming launch of Halo Wars 2. By creating this community experience exclusively on Twitter, we are able to bring fans around the world a truly personalized gaming experience in real-time,” said Dan Ayoub, studio head for strategy games at 343 Industries.

People on Twitter will be prompted to engage with Isabel (@ISA1307_2), the main A.I. in the game, via call-to-action Tweets inviting them to play. They will then be transported into a training module where they play battle cards against their friends (or the computer) in an escalating three-round war of attacks and counters.

We’ve seen businesses use our new DM features in creative ways, but this experience is the first of its kind, and with one of the most recognizable franchises in gaming,” said Ian Cairns, Senior Product Manager at Twitter.

Battle winners will be served unique gameplay GIFs and will receive exclusive downloadable content in the form of custom vehicle skin packs for use when the game launches.

Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment has just revealed the Official Injustice 2 Story Trailer – “The Lines are Redrawn.” Witness the story set in motion in Injustice: Gods Among Us as new DC characters join the fight and shape the actions that unfold in the upcoming sequel will release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the UK on the 19^th of May 2017.

If there’s something that Nintendo has excelled on in recent years it’s in the unique hardware that it has released. In a way, it’s almost as if Nintendo has turned into the old Sega that used to experiment with its own hardware releases. It’s certainly no longer surprising for a company that released such revolutionising hardware as the Nintendo Wii and the Nintendo DS to have announced the Nintendo Switch.
