Review: Jumanji: Wild Adventures

My video review with footage captured using my Xbox Series X.

Jumanji: Wild Adventures is the perfect title for your children. This simple game is colourful and full of bite-sized action. What’s more, it is straightforward, easy to play, and captures the essence of the film. As such, though it won’t test adults, kids will adore its rudimentary gameplay.

This action-adventure title was developed by Cradle Games Inc. and published by Outright Games. Additionally, there are platforming elements that can be enjoyed locally with 3 other players. Subsequently, there is an old-school touch to this non-stop experience.

The team explore the jungle.
Time to explore the jungle.

Jumanji: Wild Adventures unleashes a familiar tale.

Though the action is captivating for youngsters, the plot is unfortunately shallow. Moreover, though there are some drip-fed elements, the core concept rarely changes. As such, there is a distinct feeling of deja vu as repetition sets in early doors. However, as the key demographic is young gamers, this was the perfect approach.

The lightweight story focuses on the 4 Jumanji protagonists. Just when they thought their adventuring days were over, the Jumanji board made them think twice. In this endeavour, the team must undertake an arduous journey as they try to recover the Jaguar’s Eye. Yet, this is easier said than done. Sadly, creatures, monsters, and angry tribespeople stand between you and success. Consequently, it’ll take every ounce of strength, talent, and skill to complete the game and return home.

Hop between the stones to avoid the water.
Use the stones to avoid the water.

A straightforward affair.

Jumanji: Wild Adventures asks you to explore a world map whilst discovering different regions. Furthermore, every area is made up of several stages and culminates in a boss battle. You’ll have to explore the forgotten villages, the dark caves, icy mountains, and fetid swamps. Thankfully, each location has unique obstacles and creatures to overcome and defeat.

However, no matter the location, the core concept remains the same. Unfortunately, this makes it tedious from an adult’s perspective. But the straightforward approach is ideal for youngsters. Accordingly, once your kids get to grips with the basic ideas, they’ll need no guidance.

The action focuses on collecting coins and gems while attacking hordes of enemies. Alongside this, you must avoid obstacles, jump across chasms, and collect the letters to spell out the word Jumanji. Moreover, there are hidden areas to discover and a gigantic boss to defeat. None of these tasks are challenging and this ensures that kids will enjoy every action-packed moment.

Jumanji: Wild Adventures doesn’t look next-gen.

Visually, Jumanji: Wild Adventures didn’t float my boat. Though it is colourful and the stage design is varied and interesting, it lacks a modern finish. Unfortunately, the finish and textures are a little rough, and the animation is somewhat clunky. However, my kids didn’t mind and that’s all that matters. Furthermore, the blend of 3D arenas and the overworld map is an interesting choice. Yet, I wish the developers had done more with the latter option as this would have expanded the base game.

The audio, on the other hand, fared much better. The upbeat soundtrack captures the mysterious nature of the board game. Moreover, the crunching sound effects and witty one-liners will amuse and entertain its intended audience. Consequently, though it annoys adults, my munchkins loved every loud and obnoxious moment.

Time your jump and avoid the sawblade.
I hope you make the cut.

Easy to master but clunky controls.

Though this was easy to master, the controls were unnecessarily clunky. This made it occasionally challenging to navigate tight spaces or to fight multiple enemies at once. However, the impact is minimal and doesn’t undermine an otherwise child-friendly experience.

Jumanji: Wild Adventures is repetitive. Yet, thanks to its collectables and level rating system, there is replay value and longevity. Subsequently, if you fall for its jungle charms, you’ll play it for hours without complaint.

Jumanji: Wild Adventures is another great title for younger gamers.

Outright Games delivers another fine child-friendly title. Not only does it remain faithful to the franchise, but it is perfectly safe for youngsters. On top of this, its replay value ensures that it’s great value for money. Accordingly, I recommend that you buy it here! Can you play big and get home? Choose your hero, tackle every stage, and recover the Jaguar’s Eye.

Best Fall/Winter Hobbies to Try

0

With the changing season, mood and temperament also change, and so do the hobbies and activities. Especially during the fall and winter seasons, when the days are shorter and filled with sweet chills, one can find a variety of hobbies that match the unique charm of the season. You can experience the memorable memories of these seasons, which could bring nostalgia in the future whenever you walk on the crunchy leaves, get absorbed in the impeccable beauty of snowy grounds, or feel the coziness of fire. Moreover, the winter also tempts you to find activities you can enjoy while eating soup with chunky items or sipping on your favorite hot beverage as you play and enjoy bonus buy casino features on your favorite site.

Look into Kitchen

You may find it hard to stand in the kitchen during the hot season but fall and winter are the best times to slip into the kitchen and try out your favorite cuisines. Well, nothing could match the satisfaction of doing experiments in the kitchen, whether you would like to come up with your own unique recipes for hearty stews or try with the ingredients that your grandma used to bake fresh bread and savory pies. On holidays, you can set a treat table for your family and make them festive treats like pumpkin pies and gingerbread cookies. So, baking and cooking are not just activities but therapeutic outlets that let you bring to the surface your culinary skills.

Freeze the Moments

With your photography skills, you can technically freeze the dreamy moments during fall and winter. Well, if you are not a pro, you can learn to capture with the best angles, and then you can make a portfolio of your best clicks, whether the subtle snowy landscapes or the vibrant scenes from the fall. So, you do not necessarily need to find an out-of-budget camera to make such memories, but you can use your smartphone best.

Artistic Skills

The fall and winter are the best times to bring out your artistic skills indoors. So you can try plenty of things like:

  • Knitting
  • Painting
  • Weaving
  • Stitching
  • Crocheting
  • Making decoration pieces
  • Decorating rooms, etc.

Apart from these, you can create homemade gifts and send them to your friends and relatives that would be a unique present for the season. All in all, the possibilities of finding arts and crafts works are endless, and you can create something of your own that could give you immeasurable pleasure.

Sports

There are many sports, but when it comes to the season, there is a separate category for winter sports for the players who want to play outside. Sports like ice skating, skiing, snowshoeing, and snowshoeing supply adrenaline rush to the brain and elevate the pleasure of activity while the players can also work out physically through such games. So, such games are the best fun hobbies to stay active during winter.

Walks and Exploration

Summers are hard to go out in on exploring missions, while the autumn provides better opportunities, where you can go on long walks with your friends or spouse and enjoy the transforming scenery of nature. You can even go to far-off places to set camps and enjoy bonfires under the starry night. Such is the mood that you cannot miss while you have time and energy.

Cozy With Books and Notes

Fall and winter are the best times of the year when you find minimal distraction due to the hot weather, and you can make yourself a hot cup of coffee and set to your writing task. Even if you are a book warm, why not take your favorite reading book to a vibrant and sunny place, where you can soak in the book and sun to spend a good part of the day delving into the content of your favorite book?

Board Games

Invite your friends and family every evening for an exciting session of board games like jigsaw puzzles, scrabbles, and Monopoly. You can set the late-night extended sessions where you can socialize, compete, enjoy, and indulge in an intellectually stimulating hobby.

Home Renovation and Decoration

If you have some vacations in fall or winter, why not utilize such time to renovate your home for a renewed and perfect look? For an idea, you can do several things, such as renovating your kitchen or lounge, redecorating your room, changing the color schemes of walls and furniture, or simply decluttering the stuff that looks unnecessary and ugly. Well, such activities are satisfying and refreshing for your mood while bringing an element of newness to your old place.

Ending Lines

From the above discussion, you can pick any of your favorite hobbies, or you can also look for another unique one, as this is the season that allows you to be creative and innovative at the same time. Therefore, no matter whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or want to stay indoors, the fall and winter hobbies retain the charm of the season.

Review: Lords of the Fallen

Lords of the Fallen falls into that vast genre called Souls-Like. This expansive term is generally penned for anything that’ll break your balls in seconds. However, there is much more depth to this genre. Furthermore, a flippant term shouldn’t define a whole gaming experience. Instead, this blend of RPG, adventure, and cruel Souls elements ensures that it carves its own path.

This harsh endeavour was developed by HEXWORKS and published by CI Games. What’s more, it is the sequel to the 2014 title of the same name. However, no prior knowledge is required if you wish to tackle the latest iteration.

Lords of the Fallen tells a dramatic tale.

The God, Adyr was defeated. However, his resurrection is all but assured. As such, a hero must step forward to quash this uprising. Thankfully, a fabled Dark Crusader will journey through the realm of the living and dead to thwart this threat and restore equilibrium.

Though the plot lacks layers of originality, I enjoyed its dramatic approach and the blend of dark and light. On top of this, it allows the developers to create a monstrously large world that rarely outstays its welcome. Additionally, there is an entrenched feeling of danger and reward as you push yourself further into the abyss.

Alongside this, there is a deep character customisation mode and several classes to choose from. Moreover, you carve your own playstyle to tackle the harsh nature of the gameplay. Whether you focus on magic or close-quarter combat is your choice. However, whatever you decide, you must master the fluid combat mechanics to get the most out of the action.

The hero stares at an ominous sight.
That sight fills you with dread.

How will you approach things?

Though I like the all-out nature of Elden Ring, Lords of the Fallen rewards you with a more refined approach. Furthermore, trying to brute kill your way through the mountains of enemies you face will not suffice. Instead, you must use your character build, weapons, and skills to your advantage. However, this is easier said than done as the game chucks mountains of enemies in your path. Additionally, the combination of ranged and close-quarter foes complicates matters further.

If you then consider the janky locking-on technique, it makes every encounter more testing than it should. Yet, if you can overcome these hurdles, there is plenty of odd lore, strange creatures, and unique weapons to discover and acquire. As such, if you adore the customisation element of this genre, then you are in for a treat.

2 worlds to explore and a bit of a gamble.

The 2014 title wasn’t expansive enough. However, Lords of the Fallen is 5 times bigger than its predecessor. Thanks to the two parallel worlds, you will have a testing time exploring every nook and cranny. Moreover, the realm of death and darkness is unbelievably cruel. Accordingly, the demonic beings that roam this plain are not to be messed with.

If you like to up the ante somewhat, you can put your XP on the line. Alternatively, you can bank it at a checkpoint to use at a convenient time. Yet, if you keep hold of your XP, you receive a bonus that rewards you for your bravery. Consequently, the more XP you hold, the greater the XP that you earn. As such, you must decide whether to risk it all or play it safe.

The hero battles through the parallel realm.
Can you survive the parallel realm?

The bosses make Lords of the Fallen shine.

Though I have my complaints, I adored the cruel and enormous bosses in Lords of the Fallen. These asshat creatures test every ounce of patience and skill you may possess. Moreover, it can be tough to highlight their weakness, especially if your character build doesn’t complement the situation. Yet, if you can take advantage of each brute’s shortcomings, you’ll cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

Lords of the Fallen is janky and lacks polish.

My biggest disappointment is the janky and uncomfortable combat animation. Sadly, you cannot cancel any action and this causes problems in any fight. On top of this, the camera doesn’t keep up with the action and this increases your chances of dying. What’s more, the auto-locking system isn’t great, and this makes it progressively hard to move forward.

These issues to one side, I liked the character customisation and the vast difference between the two parallel realms. Furthermore, the stage design is interesting and exploring the vast areas was fascinating. Yet, I wish the developers had reduced the number of enemies and improved the poor animation.

The audio fared better, thankfully. The oppressive sound effects and dramatic soundtrack create an ominous environment. Accordingly, I enjoyed the crunching sounds of your weapon and the noises of the NPCs.

Can the hero defeat the enormous creature?
How will you defeat that beast?

The combat system was smooth.

Combat is a key element of Lords of the Fallen. As such, a smooth combat system was a must-have. Luckily, the well-told tutorial sets you up to master whichever class you have chosen. After this, a whole heap of trial and error and practice are required if you wish to excel. Yet, once you know what you are doing, you’ll enjoy rolling, slashing, and killing everything in your path. However, remember that the auto-aim isn’t great, and the camera isn’t your friend.

With a vast world to explore and 2 parallel realms to traverse, this has plenty of replay value and longevity. Alongside this, you are free to pick your class and customise it however you wish. Additionally, you can join others online, or raid players to ruin their day. As such, this cruel title ups the ante and makes things harder still.

Lords of the Fallen is no Dark Souls clone.

Though much of the action is similar to Dark Souls, it isn’t a clone. Luckily, it has enough about it to make it stand out from its much-loved/much-hated peers. Consequently, if you want a new Souls-like experience to scratch that cruel itch, then this will be right up your street. Subsequently, I recommend that you buy it here! Can you explore both realms and save the day? Master your class, destroy every boss, and gamble your life for vast rewards.

Review: Dual Driver Headphones with ANC

The Dual Driver Headphones with ANC from Monoprice prove that incredible products can be straightforward. These understated over-the-ear headphones are comfortable and robust. Furthermore, they are simple to use and easy to set up, and they come with a handy carry case.

On top of this, they deliver excellent sound quality alongside comfortable ANC technology. Additionally, they are great for phone calls and use multi-point pairing. As such, you can use them to work and play without compromising on either.

What’s in the box of the Dual Driver Headphones with ANC?

  • The monochromatic packaging is striking. Furthermore, its simplicity ensures that costs are kept to a minimum. Moreover, it can be recycled and that’s a massive plus point.
  • The Dual Driver Headphones with ANC are great to look at. What’s more, they are comfortable to wear and deliver in all the right areas. Additionally, there are some tactile buttons to enhance usability.
  • A small USB-C cable is provided to charge the device.
  • Learn the fundamentals with the user manual.

Technical aspects.

Though I appreciate the ability to make phone calls from my headphones, I only care about the audio quality! Thankfully, the Dual Driver Headphones with ANC do not disappoint. The 20 mm and 40 mm drivers deliver a crisp tonal range. Consequently, there is a healthy range of tones, crisp treble, and ear-shaking bass. Moreover, the ANC technology reduces unwanted background noise to keep you in the game.

Alongside this, you can activate transparency mode to enhance your safety. This is ideal if you love to run, walk, or cycle. With this option activated, you can still hear your music, but vehicles and other road users are more noticeable. What’s more, you can hear people talking without the requirement of removing your audio device.

Work and play.

Multi-point pairing is more commonplace. However, I usually find it on more expensive devices. As such, I was impressed that a $70 headset offered this as standard. Additionally, the ability to set up 2 devices at the same time was a cinch. Therefore, I could enjoy a podcast or gaming on my mobile phone whilst remaining connected for an upcoming Zoom call.

Talking of calls, these headphones deliver crisp and clear conversations no matter how loud the environmental sounds. The noise reduction technology and enhanced voice pick-up enable you to be heard clearly. Moreover, I experienced no uncomfortable popping or awful echoed feedback.

Build quality.

The Dual Driver Headphones with ANC are sleek and impressive to look at. The all-black finish and sizeable over-ear cans deliver a striking look. Additionally, the padded headband and plush ear cushions allow you to wear these for hours on end. Alongside this, the foldable cups ensure that these take up minimal space whenever you are travelling. This allows them to be a great choice for hand luggage or as a carry-on during a flight.

Another fine feature was the tactile buttons. These well-labelled inputs allow you to answer phone calls, switch modes, and change your music. Consequently, it was impressive how easy they were to use and I liked the positioning on the right earcup.

Are the Dual Driver Headphones with ANC worth it?

There are plenty of great headsets on the market. However, I believe that these offer a lot of bang for your buck. Not only do they have an exceptional up to 70 hours of playtime, but they deliver incredible audio and they are comfortable to wear. Furthermore, they look great and they are compact when in their case. As such, I adore them and I recommend that you buy them here!

The Dual Driver Headphones with ANC have been awarded the Movies Games and Tech Gold Award.

Review: Homeseek

Survival crafting games have always been something that I have had a hard time getting into. There is something about managing all sorts of different resources and ensuring that the residents are taken care of. Managing meters and making the adjustments on the fly might be a task for some but for those who are fully engaged with these kinds of mechanics, HomeSeek will be a pleasant surprise for you.

HomeSeek will have us taking part in two different campaigns that span across nine different chapters. You can opt to take these chapters on in three different modes which include Survival, Endless, and Story mode. I personally enjoyed Story mode over the other two due to the fact I was able to work towards a set goal to see the end of the chapters. Survival will have your progress carrying over between chapters and this was a daunting experience due to the fact that I was concerned about messing up in the early game. By completing the first 5 chapters, you will be able to unlock the rest of the chapters that can be found in part two. With different playmodes to enjoy along with a selection of difficulty modes to sort through, there is bound to be something here for those who enjoy this genre.

Gameplay consists of an overhead view, similar to other games in the genre such as SimCities and Frostpunk. This will give you the ability to move the camera around to get a good idea of the landscape that is at your disposal. It will be important to lay out a plan when it comes to building structures since you will have to focus on both bringing in resources as well as ensuring the proper connections are made. Sending workers to pluck berries from bushes is pointless if you don’t have a food storage building located nearby. I ended up scrapping my first playthrough since I wasn’t satisfied with the layout I had set up. This would potentially be enough to put off players who are not fans of this genre or those who have a hard time sticking with something after making a major mistake.

As you go about setting up different buildings and collecting different resources, you will find a plethora of information awaiting you with all of the tabs on the screen. HomeSeek does a wonderful job of supplying you with all the information that you will need right away but this can be a little overwhelming in the beginning. One thing I really enjoyed was the ability to assign workers to a certain building and then check the details on the worker. You can see their names and where they are living if you have assigned them to one of the houses you can build. I ended up building a home for one of the workers well before the tutorial had asked me to and it was nice to see that I could take the next steps without the game having to hold my hand the entire time. This level of freedom was pleasant but did land me in a weird situation where I was unsure of what to do. Thankfully a quest log can be seen off to the left side of the screen that keeps track of your current progress on the quest you have.

Over the course of the game, you will have to ensure that you are taking care of the people that you have in your camp, otherwise you will see them pass away. One thing that you will have to keep in mind is the fact that people will pass away and sometimes you just have to let them go. Loading the save and trying again is a possibility but it is important to realize that this also means one less mouth to feed so others are able to survive for a little bit longer. This was interesting enough to help keep me engaged with some of the decisions to be made here but unfortunately, it was not enough to keep me interested during the slower parts of gameplay.

Daytime is where a lot of our gameplay will take place since nighttime will have us simply resting. This means that there will be no resources collected as well as no progress made on the work we had our people doing. I often found myself just watching time pass during these moments and while you are capable of speeding time up to make things progress faster, I felt like this was something that could have been handled on the back end by automatically speeding up.

While the game was quite enjoyable for the first few moments, by the time I made it to the part where I was able to send out people on expeditions, I was ready to close it out. There is a lot here for those who are fans of the genre and it definitely has the ability to capture the attention of those who enjoy when their actions have weight but the constant waiting around for things to be done can be quite off putting. I often found myself scrolling through my phone while waiting for resources to build up or for my workers to finish constructing some of my buildings. Things move extremely slow and while we have the ability to bump things up to three times the normal speed, there was nothing that really encouraged me to take those next steps. Homeseek is fun when you are locked into the gameplay loops but the moment you hit that first bump in the road in regards to waiting on something, the flaws start to come out. This is a major make or break moment for those who are on the fence here and nothing is really done to persuade you into continuing the game.

Review: 49” SQHD 120HZ Dark Matter Gaming Monitor

The 49” SQHD 120HZ Dark Matter Gaming Monitor takes gaming to the next level! If you want an immersive experience that changes the way you play, then I suggest you read on. This phenomenal curved monitor delivers crisp screen resolution and an impressive wrap-around environment. As such, once you turn on your PC or console, you are sucked into that gaming world until you switch it off.

On top of this, the Adaptive Sync Technology complements the 120Hz refresh rate. As such, you’ll enjoy buttery smooth gameplay with no screen tearing. This was particularly important when playing high-paced shooters or racing games. Consequently, this monitor will give you a winning edge to tackle elite gamers.

What’s in the box of the 49” SQHD 120HZ Dark Matter Gaming Monitor?

  • The box is understandably massive. Furthermore, though it is simple to look at, you’ll be desperate to rip it open.
  • The 49” SQHD 120HZ Dark Matter Gaming Monitor is securely packaged for transit. Accordingly, the risk of damage is minimal. Alongside this, the monitor is surprisingly light and can be handled by one person.
  • A desktop mount is provided to stand this on your workstation. Alternatively, you can use the 75×75 VESA points to wall mount it.
  • You are provided with 2xDP cables.
  • A standard power cable is provided. However, if this isn’t suitable, it can be replaced with a longer cable.
  • Learn the basics with the user manual.

Technical aspects.

A high-end gaming monitor has to keep up with the action and deliver mind-blowing visuals. Fortunately, the 49” SQHD 120HZ Dark Matter Gaming Monitor does this and much, much more. The maximum screen resolution is a whopping 5120×1440 at an impressive aspect ratio of 32:9. Thanks to the awesome SQHD resolution, you enjoy next-level details that are missed on lesser models.

Alongside this, the incorporated VA panel technology with quantum LCD performs admirably. The depth of colour, crisp lines, contrast, and rapid response times place its peers into its shadow. Then you must consider the 120Hz refresh rate and the Adaptive Sync Technology (AST). Both complement one another to deliver a seamless experience like no other.

This device delivers a maximum 4ms response time to ensure that you are ahead of the game. What’s more, the 1800R curvature creates an immersive environment that is impossible to look away from. Subsequently, no matter if you game or watch films, you’ll enjoy a wider range of view and you’ll see things that you never knew existed.

How well does the 49” SQHD 120HZ Dark Matter Gaming Monitor perform?

The technical element of this device is not in question. Its market-leading features will impress every hardcore gamer going. However, how well does it work when pushing it to the limits? Well, compared to the Monoprice 27” CrystalPro Monitor, this is a next-level device. Now, there is nothing wrong with that monitor, but unfortunately, it cannot compete with this monstrous device. Yet, remember, there is a vast price difference between the 2 and you need a large gaming space to make this monitor work for you.

Setting up a 49” monitor isn’t that straightforward. Unless you have a large gaming space, or a huge wall to mount it, you could be in trouble. It has a 47.2” span and that makes it a bit of a beast. Yet, if you can squeeze this into your set-up, you’ll love every second. The moment I turned it on, I could tell that this was something special. The vivid colours, clean lines, and lightning-fast refresh rate blew me away. Subsequently, this monitor is ideal for competitive gaming.

Pick a genre, any genre.

No matter what genre you play, this monitor will eat it for breakfast. Moreover, it delivers rich colours and makes every film or TV program pop. Additionally, the fine layers of details and the AST are superb. Accordingly, it mattered not what genre I played. FPS and racing games are buttery smooth, in your face, and wonderful to observe. Alternatively, if you love to edit photos or videos, you have so much real estate to work with that you no longer struggle with the most complex of tasks.

Build quality.

Unsurprisingly, the 49” SQHD 120HZ Dark Matter Gaming Monitor has amazing build quality. With 4 input options (2xDP 1.4 and 2xHDMI2.0), you are not short of connectivity methods. Furthermore, the well-balanced stand is ideal if you wish to mount this on your desk. Alternatively, a 75×73 VESA mount can be used and I suspect this will be a better option. While writing this review, I was unable to test this, but the ability to adjust the angle and height with a wall mount would be appreciated.

On top of this, Monoprice offer an incredible 1-year dead pixel guarantee! This is so reassuring as issues can occur and no one likes their pride and joy written off. My only gripe is the underside menu system. This can be a little fiddly to master and flicking through each source can be clumsy. However, once you get used to it, it becomes second nature.

Is the 49” SQHD 120HZ Dark Matter Gaming Monitor worth it?

Purchasing a large gaming monitor with this much tech is a large outlay. Yet, if you love to game or you simply want an immersive experience, then it is money well spent. Thanks to its amazing resolution, rapid refresh rate, and AST, you’ll never go back. Additionally, the 1-year guarantee is so reassuring that it sets your mind at ease. Accordingly, I love this monitor and I recommend that you buy it here!

Review: 30-watt LED DMX SMH Stage Light

The 30-watt LED DMX SMH Stage Light from Stage Right will brighten any room. This vivid but simple moving head light is perfect for small lighting set-ups or monstrous gangs of lights. As such, it is the ideal product if you have a man cave, mobile disco, or a production company.

On top of this, I was shocked by how easy this device was to use. Whether you wish to use the DMX system or use one of 8 presets, this device is versatile and user-friendly. Moreover, you can use the internal microphone to allow the light to react to the sound of every song. As such, you’ll deliver a professional performance without testing your technological know-how.

What’s in the box of the 30-watt LED DMX SMH Stage Light?

  • The understated packaging will not impress you. However, I loved its robust quality and that it could be recycled. Moreover, the fragile contents were protected during transit.
  • The 30-watt LED DMX SMH Stage Light is compact and lightweight. Furthermore, the easy-to-understand screen is simple to navigate thanks to the tactile buttons.
  • Connect the device with the DMX cable and the chunky power cable.
  • Learn the fundamentals with the user manual.

Technical aspects.

This dual-voltage device is perfect for both American and UK/EU power supplies. Consequently, this light can be used in many places without the use of a transformer. This is ideal as it enhances its versatility and makes it much more desirable. What was also great was the single 30-watt LED lens arrangement. This compact design helps you to orchestrate your lighting set-up without unnecessary complications.

If you so wish, you can use the 30-watt LED DMX SMH Stage Light as a standalone product. However, if you want to create a striking and awe-inspiring show, you can connect a further 32 devices to create an event that can be seen from outer space (this may be a slight exaggeration!).

Usability.

Setting up stage lighting is no mean feat! Getting the angles right whilst ensuring the stage is correctly lit takes practice, patience, and an awful lot of experience. Thankfully, the 30-watt LED DMX SMH Stage Light takes the sting out of getting things right. If you have the know-how, you can use the DMX cable to custom-finish your lighting rig. However, if this seems like a technological minefield, you can let the preset options go to town.

Stage Right has included 8 built-in programs that will impress and mesmerise your audience. Once you choose your program, you can sit back and watch the light head tilt 190° and pan an amazing 540°. On top of this, there is an incredible 8-position colour wheel with 7 colour filters and a brilliant white option. Additionally, you can bring something new to the stage with the 8-position gobo wheel.

The surprises keep coming as the awesome built-in microphone picks up any sounds to create a unique light display. Subsequently, you can sit back, grab a beverage, and pretend you created a unique mind-blowing lighting experience.

Build quality.

No matter how large or small a light is, it has to be hard-wearing! No one likes to climb ladders to replace bulbs or faulty units. Moreover, you don’t want your device to overheat or cables to come loose when they are 15 metres above your head. Thankfully, the 30-watt LED DMX SMH Stage Light removes all these issues because of its amazing build quality.

The strong plastic casing sits upon a plastic and metal base. This ensures that the light has minimal weight whilst still being hard-wearing and built to last. Alongside this, the clever display is simple to use and the tactile buttons are tough and robust. Subsequently, they’ll last the test of time no matter how many times they are jabbed.

Though this device is designed to be mounted on a solid surface, you can attach it to a lighting bar with the correct connectors. Consequently, if you use more than one of these lights, you’ll create a stunning visual display that will complement any song or event.

Is the 30-watt LED DMX SMH Stage Light worth it?

I was impressed with this product. Not only is it easy to use, but the gobo patterns and vivid LED lighting look amazing. On top of this, I loved the reactive music setting and the user-friendly approach. As such, if you need lights to brighten up your venue, I suggest you look no further. Accordingly, I recommend that you buy it here!

Review: Spider-Man Miles Morales Gunnar Glasses

The Spider-Man Miles Morales Gunnar Glasses continue a fine streak for this much-loved company. Their connections with Marvel and their stunning frame designs ensure that gamers are spoilt for choice. Furthermore, the gaudy colours and exceptional build quality keep them ahead of their competitors.

Alongside this, these glasses are perfect if you love to play marathon gaming sessions. Thanks to their tinted lenses and anti-blue light tech, you stay on top of your game for longer. Moreover, you’ll benefit from reduced eye strain and common gaming headaches should become a thing of the past.

What’s in the box of the Spider-Man Miles Morales Gunnar Glasses?

  • Gunnar loves their boxes. As such, you have to open 2 cardboard boxes before you get to the goods. Thankfully, though, each item of packaging is interesting to look at and they keep the contents protected.
  • The Spider-Man Miles Morales Gunnar Glasses are great to look at. The all-plastic frames are chunky and lightweight. Moreover, the livery is attractive and suitable for the theme.
  • The case is compact but hard-wearing.
  • Keep your glasses clean with the Marvel-themed cleaning cloth.

Technical aspects.

Gaming glasses are the ideal solution for hardcore gamers. Alternatively, maybe you suffer from headaches whenever you work from home or type emails in the office. Either way, wearing a pair of these glasses could help. The attractive yellow-tinted lenses reduce that unsightly glare from your screen. Moreover, the lenses block harmful blue light and 100% of UV rays. Consequently, there are potential long-term benefits from wearing this product.

Alongside this, if you wear prescription glasses, you can incorporate them into this product. If your prescription is -5 to +5 in range, then Gunnar can incorporate your required lenses into their design. This inclusive approach is phenomenal as it ensures that more gamers can feel the benefits of these glasses.

Build quality.

The Spider-Man Miles Morales Gunnar Glasses are extremely comfortable to wear. The wide nose bridge and spacious frame length prevent your head or nose from feeling squashed. On top of this, they weigh no more than 33 grams, so you hardly feel them on your face. Additionally, the slightly oversized lenses prevent those harmful rays and the fatigue-inducing blue light from impacting your day.

Then you must consider the sturdy and strong multi-barrelled hinges. Accordingly, these specs can take a little roughhousing without showing signs of damage or wear and tear. My favourite aspect of this product has to be the colour palette. The delightful red on black juxtaposes the yellow of the lenses. Moreover, the subtle Marvel logo is perfectly placed and is not too garish or brash.

Are the Spider-Man Miles Morales Gunnar Glasses worth it?

I’ve recently looked at the Loki-style gaming glasses, and I love these glasses just as much. The difference, however, is the Spider-Man Miles Morales Gunnar Glasses are more mainstream. As such, they will appeal to a wider audience whilst offering the same fatigue-reducing benefits. Accordingly, I like these glasses and I recommend that you buy them here!

Review: Monoprice 8K@60Hz USB-C to DP Cable

The Monoprice 8K@60Hz USB-C to DP Cable is a well-built and versatile alternative to a docking system. Furthermore, this incredible cable delivers crystal clear video and audio quality. As such, if you have a mobile phone, tablet, or gaming device that you wish to use on a bigger screen, then this is the option for you.

Console docks such as JSAUX’s Steam Deck accessory are fantastic. However, if you have a small workstation or you travel a lot, you may not wish to be weighed down by more peripherals. Accordingly, if you feel that way, then this cable is perfect for you. Not only does it mirror your screen, but it produces mind-blowing colours and a lag-free experience.

What’s in the box of the Monoprice 8K@60Hz USB-C to DP Cable?

  • Don’t expect anything fancy, as this cable comes in a clear plastic bag. Though this approach is a little unorthodox, it helps to reduce costs.
  • The Monoprice 8K@60Hz USB-C to DP Cable is braided and the connections use aluminium housings.

Technical aspects.

DP connectivity is becoming more commonplace. As a consequence, it is always handy to have an array of DP cables at the ready. However, if you want to be ahead of the game, I suggest you take a look at this option. Rated up to 8K resolution, this will blow your mind. Furthermore, it delivers exceptional refresh rates depending on the resolution you pick.

At 8K, you’ll enjoy a smooth 60Hz performance. Yet, as you half the resolution, you double the refresh rate. Therefore, at 4K you’ll enjoy 144Hz/120Hz, and at 2K you’ll receive a whopping 240Hz. However, that is not all, as this cable supports HDR10+. As such, if you have a compatible device, you’ll experience richer colours, sharper contrasts, and crisp lines. Additionally, the wider range of colours helps any movie, game, or TV series come to life.

Build quality.

Broken cables and poor performance go hand-in-hand. Subsequently, purchasing a high-quality cable is a must. Thankfully, the Monoprice 8K@60Hz USB-C to DP Cable is as good as it gets! The braided material allows it to be flexible whilst still protecting the internal components. Alongside this, the aluminium connectors are robust and easy to handle.

On top of this, the cable is designed to prevent overheating, and this ensures optimal performance at all times. My only gripe is the 6-foot length. I’d have preferred something more substantial as it increases usability and makes it more versatile. Yet, in its current format, it is suitable for many day-to-day tasks.

Is the Monoprice 8K@60Hz USB-C to DP Cable worth it?

Though your current monitor or TV may not have a DP port, your future purchase will. Consequently, getting the right cables for the job is essential. Therefore, you won’t want a mediocre connection, nor will you want a poor resolution and terrible refresh rate. As such, investing in this cable futureproofs your set-up whilst offering the best performance around. Accordingly, I recommend that you buy it here!

Review: Sonic Superstars

Sonic Superstars delivers a healthy dose of nostalgia-infused action. Consequently, if you are in your 40s or older, or you adore old-school Sonic titles, then this will appeal to you. Thankfully, this modern take on the classic 2.5D platform was extremely well conceived. As such, this is an ideal title for veterans and newcomers alike.

This fast-paced and colourful affair was developed by Arzest and Sonic Team and published by Sega. Furthermore, it can be played alone or locally with 3 others. As such, you can team up with your friends or your loved ones as you collect every ring, save every creature, and thwart Dr Eggman’s dastardly plans.

The team are all together.
Which member of the team will you pick?

Sonic Superstars is surprisingly straightforward.

Though the action is hard to keep up with, I loved every crazy moment. No matter which character you picked, the gameplay was surprisingly straightforward. In retro fashion, you must move from point A to point B whilst exploring as much of the level as possible. However, this isn’t so easy as you are flung through the air, chucked through tunnels, and made to do the loop the loop. On top of this, there are enemies and traps to avoid, and special areas to discover.

The story focuses on the untouched NorthStar islands. This beautiful archipelago catches Dr Eggman’s eye. Accordingly, he hires Fang the Hunter to capture the inhabitants to enhance his robotic army. Yet, SonicTales, Knuckles, and Amy will not go down without a fight. Subsequently, they must use their skills to overcome the obstacles and save the day.

A never-ending roller-coaster.

Sonic Superstars travels at a relentless pace from beginning to end. Alongside this, there are 12 zones comprising 26 acts of eye-watering madness to overcome. Each area has special obstacles, and platforming mechanics that ensure you never get bored. Moreover, there are secret areas and special levels that hide each character’s Chaos Emerald. There are 7 of these gems to collect and each of them empowers you with new skills.

I won’t spoil it for you, but unlocking these abilities allows you to explore every area in greater detail. Additionally, it makes each playable character more enjoyable to handle, so I suggest finding every portal.

Alongside the main story is the ability to challenge each of your friends. Here you can play locally or online as you compete to be the champion. There are plenty of game modes on offer and if you are victorious, you can customise your robot to highlight your gaming prowess.

Sonic is moving at a rapid pace.
Time to get some speed.

A trip down memory lane.

The healthy dose of familiar gameplay should have held this back. However, Sonic Superstars has created a wonderful blend of dated mechanics and modern madness. Consequently, it captures the brilliance of 90s adventure platform titles whilst adding a modern twist.

On top of this, the gameplay is challenging, creative, and easy to pick up and play. Therefore, it is the perfect experience for families or a small group of friends. What’s more, though, the action is relentless, and it never outstays its welcome. Subsequently, I adored every boss battle and the plot twist that ensures you come back for more.

Sonic Superstars is beautifully polished.

I was amazed at how well the developers captured the original essence. Every aspect of the visuals brings back wonderful gaming memories. Furthermore, the exceptional level design and wonderful sprites are a treat. Additionally, the vivid colour palette and smooth animation are something to behold. In short, this is brilliantly retro with a stunning modern finish.

The audio is just as good. Not only does it revisit the original ideas, but it reinvents them as well. I adored the upbeat tunes and the OTT sound effects. However, it can occasionally be overwhelming. As such, I’d recommend keeping the volume down to get the best experience.

Take to the sky with Knuckles.
Flying time with Knuckles.

Awesome controls.

What made Sonic so special was its intuitive controls. Luckily, Sonic Superstars retains this approach. Accordingly, it has awesome controls that are easy to understand and simple to pick up. Yet, unlocking new skills adds a degree of difficulty to the mix. Subsequently, it isn’t a walk in the park and this keeps you focused.

This title hides many secrets. What’s more, there are some pleasant twists to the gameplay. As such, if you are a completionist, you’ll discover some additional content that others may miss. Alongside this, the multiplayer action is addictive and mindless. Therefore, there is plenty of replay value and longevity.

Sonic Superstars blows away those blues.

If you are a veteran gamer, you know that big franchises often become weaker. Sadly, they lose their way and the action becomes diluted. However, Sonic Superstars bucks this trend with its homage to the Mega Drive classic. Consequently, every element is captivating and interesting. Furthermore, the level design is intelligent and you’ll rarely tire of what you see. As such, I cherished it and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you thwart Dr Eggman and his devious plan? Pick your hero, find the secrets, and banish the evil forces.

Review: Miofive Dash Cam Dual

The Miofive Dash Cam Dual helps you to gather evidence of any car-related misdemeanours. Unfortunately, car ownership and accidents go hand-in-hand. However, what isn’t convenient is when an accident occurs and there are no witnesses to corroborate your version of events. Thankfully, this compact device removes that issue!

Alongside this, you needn’t worry when your car is parked for the night. Thanks to the 24-hour parking monitor, you have peace of mind at all times. Additionally, it matters not what time of day it is. This excellent dashcam will record in low light, at night time, and during bad weather. As such, you know that any accidents will be recorded by this high-end device.

What’s in the box of the Miofive Dash Cam Dual?

  • The professional packaging catches your eye. Though it is relatively simple, I adored the imagery and the alluring colour palette. Furthermore, it is fully recyclable.
  • The Miofive Dash Cam Dual has a front-facing 4K camera and a 2K rear-facing camera. Both are small and easy to mount on your car.
  • You are provided with an array of cables to power the device and connect the rear and front cameras.
  • A small pry bar is provided to hide the cables.
  • Spare sticky pads enable you to adjust the cameras.
  • Learn the fundamentals with the user manual.

Technical aspects.

A dashcam is only as good as the footage it captures! Thankfully, the Miofive Dash Cam Dual records crystal-clear audio and footage at all times. Furthermore, thanks to the Sony Stravis Night Vision technology, you enjoy accurate and detailed footage during low light. This feature didn’t falter even when I parked in proximity to a streetlight. Luckily, the camera could calculate the amount of light and overcome this issue.

Another fine feature is the G-Sensor. This captures footage whether you are on the move or if you are parked. When the camera detects an impact, the G-Sensor kicks in and the camera records 60 seconds of footage. This is automatically stored on the device and can be viewed directly from the Miofive app. This feature works alongside the night vision to capture any accidents or problems at night.

Alongside this, you can choose to film a time-lapse video if you so wish. Once the ignition is switched off, you may record 24 hours of footage. This is particularly useful if you live in high-footfall areas where you risk bumps, scratches or other elements of vandalism. Thankfully, the videos are compressed and playback at a higher rate. As such, it is easy to scan your video to highlight any issues.

The Miofive app.

I adore a company that provides a free app. Luckily, the Miofive app is free to download, and a cinch to use. The excellent UI allows the greatest of technophobes to get the most out of this device. As you scan through your footage, you can screenshot any offences, take photos, check out your driving routes, and observe your driving history.

This one-stop shop of dashcam information helps to keep things simple. Moreover, as you can download your footage directly to your phone, it makes it easier to present your evidence to the police or your insurance company. Accordingly, it takes the sting out of any accident.

Setting up the Miofive Dash Cam Dual.

I couldn’t be happier with how easy this camera system was to set up. The Miofive Dash Cam Dual requires minimal technical knowledge and a small amount of patience to get things right. Moreover, the adhesive pads ensure that both front and rear cameras stay where they are placed. Subsequently, you won’t get any nasty shocks, as the device falls when you are driving.

The toughest element has to be hiding the cables. Sadly, there is no way around it, as the rear and front cameras must be connected. However, thanks to the supplied pry bar, you can hide the cables behind your trim with no impact on your car’s internal finish.

Build quality.

I was impressed by the excellent build quality. The hardened plastic and tough mounts are built to last. On top of this, they are noticeable without being OTT or garish. Consequently, they will put off any would-be vandals or car thieves. Additionally, the sticky plates are ridiculously strong. As such, once they are on your windscreen, they have to be forcibly removed.

On top of this, the wire placement is well-considered, and this helps to reduce clutter while keeping your visibility clear. What’s more, the excellent touchscreen is responsive and easy to use. In short, if you want a relatively plug-and-play device that is hardy and looks great, then look no further.

Is the Miofive Dash Cam Dual worth it?

The number of cars on the roads is rising. Accordingly, accidents are increasing and insurance premiums are going up. As such, you don’t want your no-claims bonus impacted by a mindless act of vandalism or an RTC. As such, if you invest in this straightforward but impressive device, you’ll reduce your stress levels when it comes to gathering evidence. Furthermore, a dashcam is a great deterrent for any would-be car criminals. Consequently, I think this is a great product and I recommend that you buy it here!

Review: Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers

The Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers from Monoprice are incredible. These amazing speakers deliver precise audio and an array of connectivity options, and they look awesome on your desk. Furthermore, I was blown away by the volume, the tonal range, and the punchy and aggressive bass line. As such, these are perfect if you want an immersive gaming or entertainment system.

Alongside this, the sleek black design will impress you. The understated finish delivers a surprise package of mind-blowing proportions. From the moment these speakers were plugged in, I was grinning. Thankfully, my children were out of the house, so I cranked up the tunes and enjoyed every ear-splitting freedom.

What’s in the box of Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers?

  • The robust packaging is straightforward and relatively plain. As such, this helps to reduce costs and I like that approach.
  • The Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers are sublime to look at. The simple finish was a great design choice and the rear panel is well-labelled. Consequently, you’ll have no issues setting this up.
  • You are supplied with a standard audio cable and a chunky power cable. Both can be replaced if they are not suitable.
  • Be in control of your speakers with the remote control.
  • Batteries and grip pads are also provided.
  • Learn the basics with the user manual.

Technical aspect.

The Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers are dual voltage, so they can be used in the US, UK, or the EU. This was a great choice, as it enhances versatility and reduces the requirement of a transformer. Talking of power, each speaker has a 50-watt rating. As such, they comfortably handle any task thrown at them.

Alongside this, these speakers have a vast range of connection options. Whether you wish to go old-school with an RCA option or focus on a modern USB and optical alternative, the choice is entirely yours. Additionally, you can utilise the Bluetooth 5 with APTX HD audio code. This next-level feature delivers mind-blowing sound quality that is perfect for every audiophile.

Audio quality of the Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers.

Putting together the perfect audio set-up is no mean feat. However, the Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers ensure that you get perfection off the bat. These easy-to-handle speakers require no technical know-how and can be up and running in no time. However, what impressed me most was the audio quality.

Thanks to the dual 4” woofers, the 1” silk dome tweeter, and the 5.25” passive radiator, the tonal range and bass are perfectly balanced. This creates a genuinely special experience that brings any movie or game to life. Additionally, the quality of the audio is something that I’d expect from a much more expensive product.

Build quality.

Alongside the incredible audio, you’ll enjoy some of the best build quality I’ve come across. Each component is made from high-grade material and the housing is sturdy, sleek, and robust. Moreover, the rear panel is easy to navigate and every cable feels secure. Furthermore, the front control knob and the remote control ensure this is a user-friendly product.

Whether you are wall-mounting these speakers or placing them on your desktop, they won’t look out of place. Thankfully, either option doesn’t impact the rear panel or the front control knob. What’s more, changing connectivity modes or adjusting the volume could be done at the press or the turn of a button.

Are the Monolith 100-watt desktop speakers worth it?

During hours of darkness, I have to game with headphones. However, when the kids are out and about, I love nothing more than a high-quality set of speakers. This product blew my mind from the moment I plugged it in! The awe-inspiring audio was next-level, and the usability was genuinely impressive.

If you then consider the excellent build quality, you are investing in something that’ll change your entertainment area. Accordingly, though they have a moderate price point, I think they are worth every penny. As such, I adore them and I recommend that you buy them here!

Review: Valthirian Arc 2

Valthirian Arc 2 combines 2 beloved genres in a colourful hybrid mishmash. Consequently, the result is a niche experience that won’t appeal to everyone. However, if you love base building and turn-based combat, this will be right up your street. On top of this, if you adore class customisation and the freedom to explore as you wish, then this will tick plenty of boxes.

This strange adventure title was developed by Agate International and published by PQube Ltd. Moreover, this vivid game is jam-packed with monsters and turn-based combat. Additionally, there are treasures to discover, games to play, and quests to complete. As such, there is plenty to keep you busy if you fall for its charms.

Watch you academy grow.
The academy is growing.

Valthirian Arc 2 proves that every day is a school day.

Becoming a hero isn’t always written in the stars. Instead, some of the bravest adventurers learn their skills at leading academies. Unsurprisingly, this is exactly what happens in Valthirian Arc 2. This adventure game highlights the plight of the world and the desire to keep everyone safe from untold evil.

You are the principal of the finest Hero School known to mankind. However, this school has hit rock bottom, and it is severely lacking in pupils, buildings, and teachers. Accordingly, you must act like a Phoenix from the flames and rebuild this once-renowned establishment. If you are successful, you’ll save the day, make money, and train the best heroes the world has ever seen. Furthermore, you’ll attract new teachers, build the finest structures, and make peace with your rivals.

A game of 2 halves.

Valthirian Arc 2 has 2 distinct elements to its core gameplay. First, there are the base building mechanics. Second, you must undertake quests to ensure you have enough resources to expand your academy. Alongside the latter option, there is turn-based combat, treasure hunting, and plenty of large areas to explore. Moreover, the gameplay is nicely balanced, and this ensures that you can’t go too far out of your depth.

Though much of the action focuses on the exploration mechanics, the base building is essential and well-considered. Your students must refine their trade and learn new skills. However, to get the best out of them, you’ll need to balance work and play. Subsequently, if your team works too hard, they will become exhausted and you won’t be able to undertake any tasks. Alternatively, if you don’t work them at all, they learn no new skills and the action plateaus. Therefore, it is essential to get the balance right.

An overview of a 3-on-3 battle.
3-on-3, this seems a fair fight.

Diplomacy, combat, and games.

The diplomacy and mini-game elements play second fiddle to the rest of the action. Yet, they are just as important as they change the difficulty level of each region and they help to replenish your team’s stamina. What’s more, the mini-games add a layer of mindless fun that distracts you from the micro-management of every student and the many assets you build.

Alongside this, you must master turn-based combat if you are to succeed. Each hero has an element assigned to their skill set. As such, this must be used to weaken your opponent’s shield. Only warriors with identical skills can undermine their opponents, and this is essential to remember. Consequently, if you get it wrong, you’ll struggle to beat the weakest of opponents, let alone the monstrous bosses that you encounter.

Valthirian Arc 2 is a polished but old-school title.

I loved Valthirian Arc 2’s old-school edge. However, it had a delightful polish that made it stand out from its pixelated peers. Alongside this, the level design is interesting and the small regions are enjoyable to explore. Then there are the varied monsters, the clean and easy-to-follow UI, and the excellent animation. Furthermore, I loved the character portraits, the clean text-based narration, and the loud colour palette.

The audio was well delivered and wonderfully thought out. The blend of dramatic songs and sombre moments creates an enjoyable fantasy atmosphere. Additionally, the occasionally OTT sound effects delivered energy and excitement to every adventure.

You are taking part in a fishing mini-game.
Catch the fish and win the tournament.

An excellent tutorial.

This could have been awful to play! The learning curve is quite steep and mastering the base building elements could have been confusing. Yet, a thorough tutorial and the UI keep you focused on the important moments. What’s more, the easy-to-follow symbols and excellent control layout make it easy to master.

This oozes replay value and longevity. Thankfully, you are free to play this as aggressively or as slowly as you wish. Moreover, you can train your fighters in an array of skills. Consequently, you can tailor make your team and this was an excellent approach. On top of this, you must invest wisely if you wish to upgrade your team and the academy. Subsequently, it is a wonderful balancing act that doesn’t become tiresome.

Valthirian Arc 2 is brilliantly niche.

Combining genres doesn’t always work. However, Valthirian Arc 2 gets things just right. This interesting adventure, base-building hybrid will attract a niche audience. But those people will adore this brilliantly unusual experience. Thanks to the challenging missions, interesting stories, and whacky characters, you’ll fall for its charms. As such, I loved it and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you rebuild the reputation of the academy? Attract new students, appease your neighbours, and remove the threat of evil.
