A Closer Look

Final Thoughts

The first thing you notice about the Rematch is the lenticular faceplate. Tilt the controller slightly and Valorie switches to a Creeper and back again – it is a really nice touch and younger Minecraft fans in particular will love it.

At around 360g the controller feels solid without being too heavy, and it sits very comfortably in the hands even for longer gaming sessions.

Pairing the Rematch with the Nintendo Switch 2 is really simple and quick, and the wireless connection stayed stable whether we were sat close to the TV or across the room. The range is up to 9 metres, which is more than enough for most living rooms.

The TMR thumbsticks feel smooth and precise, and because they use magnetic sensing rather than physical contact they should be much less prone to stick drift over time. That is definitely something worth having on a controller you expect to use a lot.

The C Button gives you quick access to GameChat on the Switch 2, which saves fiddling around in menus when you want to chat with friends. The built-in motion controls also work well in games such as Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza.

There are two mappable back buttons – they are easy to set up and they really help when you want to keep your thumbs on the sticks in faster-paced games.

When fully charged the controller can give you up to 40 hours of gameplay. Don’t worry, if the battery does run low you can use the supplied USB-C cable to charge it and carry on playing.

The Rematch Wireless Gaming Controller – Minecraft Dungeons II for Nintendo Switch 2 is available now priced around £54.99.
