If you’ve ever dropped your phone in a puddle, left it in a wet jacket pocket, or watched it take a swim in the sink, you’ll know that sinking feeling. UAG’s Phone Recovery Pouch is built for exactly that moment. It’s a small, rugged pouch that promises to pull moisture out of a wet device rather than just sitting there and hoping the rice trick works, and I wanted to see how it holds up in practice.

Features
- Compatibility: Fits smartphones, folding phones, smartwatches, battery packs, key fobs, and other similarly sized electronics.
- DRYOUT Technology: The DRYOUT-lined interior rescues your tech from rain, sweat, condensation, humidity, and more, helping prevent rust, corrosion, and shorted circuits. After light exposure, leave your device in for 2 to 5 hours. After full immersion, plan on 3 to 12.
- Pull, Trap, Release: DRYOUT actively pulls moisture from your device, traps it in its absorbent core, and releases it with sunlight, direct heat, or forced airflow. Follow recommended reset methods and times.
- Functional Design: Hook-and-loop flap offers easy access. Webbing grab handle makes it easy to carry or clip onto your pack.
- Premium Materials: Rugged 600D PU-coated polyester shell with a 210D embossed liner for added structure and durability, and integrated interior DRYOUT panel.
How It Works
The pouch works in three stages, which UAG calls Pull, Trap and Release. Once a wet device is sealed inside, the DRYOUT panel actively pulls moisture out of the phone rather than passively absorbing whatever happens to be nearby. That moisture is then trapped in the pouch’s core material, away from the device, where it can’t do any more damage. Recovery time depends on how wet things got. Light exposure, like a splash or a bit of rain, needs around 2 to 5 hours in the pouch. Full immersion is a longer job, closer to 3 to 12 hours.
The reset process is refreshingly low-tech. Once the pouch has done its job, you leave it out in sunlight, near direct heat, or in front of some airflow, and it releases the moisture it trapped and resets itself for the next mishap. Don’t worry, there’s nothing to buy or swap out afterwards, which is part of what makes this a genuinely reusable bit of kit rather than a one-and-done gadget.
What’s in the Box
Just the pouch itself, along with the usage instructions printed on the packaging. You power the phone off, remove any accessories or removable batteries, dry off any visible moisture, seal it inside, and let the pouch do the rest.
A Closer Look

Final Thoughts
The exterior shell feels properly rugged rather than flimsy, which matters given this is the kind of accessory that lives in a glovebox, a backpack, or a boat bag for months at a time waiting for an emergency. The hook-and-loop flap closes securely without fighting you, and the webbing handle is sturdy enough to clip to a carabiner or a bag strap so it’s actually with you when you need it, not buried at the bottom of a drawer.
Inside, the 210D liner and DRYOUT panel do the real work, and UAG is upfront that this isn’t meant to compete with rice or silica packets on price. It’s meant to compete with them on results. The pouch is aimed squarely at protecting against rain exposure, sweat, condensation, humidity and accidental spills, all of which can lead to rust, corrosion or electrical shorts if a device is left wet for too long.
The UAG Phone Recovery Pouch made with DRYOUT Active Moisture-Removal Technology is a simple idea done well. It doesn’t need batteries, it doesn’t need an app, and it’s ready to go the moment disaster strikes. For anyone who spends time near water, hikes in unpredictable weather, or has simply dropped a phone in the sink one too many times, it’s definitely worth keeping in a bag.
The UAG Phone Recovery Pouch is available now priced at £26.00, and it’s a small price to pay for a bit of peace of mind the next time your phone goes for an unplanned swim.
