Final Thoughts
Security cameras are coming down in price, but a lot of them don’t have great functionality, or they don’t have very high resolution, or they don’t perform well at night, and so on. The IP540P deals with each of these issues.
The quality of the image in both the day and night was good, using the 1/3” CMOS progressive scan sensor with only slight blurring with some motion.
The P/T/Z stands for Pan / Tilt / Zoom, and the IP540P performs these with ease. You can control these from a web page or from the supplied software.
Setting up the camera was very easy and painless – plug it in, place it where you want, install the various bits of software and configure it however you want it. Job done!
The unit we had in for review also had the option to be powered over Ethernet which removes the added requirement of yet another plug socked.
You can easily view your live video stream from either a web page, or via your mobile phone, so there should never be a time that you are without your feed if you need to check it.
Make sure you take the time to set up the camera just how you want it, for example there are a number of options around recording only when motion has been detected. And there is even audio support too.
Price wise, the IP540P retails for around £200, but look around as there are always deals to be had.
If you are in the market for a good quality security camera, with lots of functionality, then you should seriously consider the IP540P from Compro Technology.
