The Base Station
The base station is not only used to recharge the batteries, it can also be used to rest the headset on when not in use. You can also see various information on the front, just as the number of Xbox controllers in use, the type of sound, if they are connected, etc.
Xbox 360 Integration
By using Microsoft’s proprietary wireless chat system, the Warhead 7.1 can send additional information to the console, including battery charge levels.

Final Thoughts
The Tritton Warhead 7.1 headset is an officially licensed product by Microsoft, and has been fully tested by the Xbox team at Microsoft.
The headset uses Microsoft’s proprietary wireless chat system which means not only does it allow information such as battery levels to be displayed on the screen, but it also means there is no need for an additional cable or Bluetooth adaptor for chat purposes.
In terms of the wireless technology, the Warhead uses 5.8GHz wireless instead of the usual 2.4GHz, which means you get better wireless performance, is guaranteed not to interfere with other wireless protocols in use by the Xbox 360 and give you better sound quality as it uses uncompressed audio for fidelity equal to that of a wired headset.
The battery life is great and I have consistently got around 12 hours of use out of them, and including two batteries in the box is a stroke of genius on the part of Tritton.
Talking of 12 hours use, they are very comfortable to wear and even with prolonged usage I didn’t feel the need to take them off because of discomfort (which I have had with other headsets in the past).
The sound quality is excellent – it really does make games come alive, and the quality of the mic is also excellent, with no problems communicating with people during gaming. There are four EQ settings that can be used, so check out each one in turn to find the right one for you.
You can use the headset with other audio devices, but the mic will only work with an Xbox.
Ok, so now for the hard part – the price. The Tritton Warhead 7.1 headset retails for £229.99, which isn’t exactly cheap, but the quality is outstanding and this is by far the best gaming headset I have ever used. If sound quality is important to you then look no further than the the Warhead because this is the only gaming headset you will ever need!
