Early yesterday mourning Google accused Microsoft of copying search results. Obviously, Microsoft denied the accusation with a simple response, “We do not copy Google’s results.”
Last night, Google’s Amit Singhal released what he is claiming to be evidence and is asking for Microsoft to terminate this practice immediately. What’s interesting is Google isn’t accusing Microsoft Bing of copying results, instead Google is accusing Microsoft of recycling them. What’s the difference? I couldn’t tell you, but I bet it has something to do with the legal end of things. Google also added that the recycled results appear as search results on Bing, due to a Microsoft trick implemented in Internet Explorer and the Bing Toolbar. How true is this? Well, one thing is for sure. Google is sticking to it’s story. It will be interesting to see what Microsoft’s official response will be.
