Next you need to add the folders you want to be involved in the sync, so click on Add New Location.

Select the Home Server folder and Destination folder and make sure that the Always Sync box is checked.

Now you will see that there is an entry in the Sync Folders area. You can then repeat adding folder locations in until you have all the folders you want listed.

Depending on your sync time you can either wait for the sync to happen, or click on the Sync Now button for each folder in turn (or select multiple folders).

As you can see from the example below, you get to see the sync take place and see other activity information displayed, just so you know what it going on.

And that is it! You files will now be synchronised depending on what you configured.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Again setting this part up was relatively easy.

As you may have noticed, there are a number of times that you need to enter the very same account name and password details. What would be nice is to limit that if possible. For example, I had to enter those details to install the VPN client, then I had to run the client and enter the details again. Having spoken with Tranquil about this, they will try to incorporate this feedback and reduce the number of times you enter the same details where possible.

With the news that the released version will have less screens to walk through and less to enter again, makes it even better.

There are a few cosmetic things to fix – such as some spellings, but this is a beta, and even Microsoft don’t worry about the GUI side until near the end of the process.

All in all, a very useful part of the HomeServerSync service – just remember to make sure that the VPN service is running or it won’t work!)

I have been using the VPN service now for quite a while as well as earlier builds of HomeServerSync and it is very nice to see it all finally coming together.

Good job Tranquil, I think you have a real winner on your hands.

The original plan was for Tranquil to release HomeServerSync by the end of July. Today is the last day of July and it won’t be out today. There have been a few unavoidable delays in getting the 64-bit drivers signed, and so expect to see HomeServerSync out next week!

Tranquil are still offering a pre-launch deal of £79 plus VAT so you might want to get in quick! Tranquil have told us this morning that this offer will expire at midnight on Sunday (British Standard Time) so really get in quick!

There is more that you can do with the VPN service, but I will save that for another time.

And as mentioned before we have something very special planned with Tranquil for release time – watch this space!

UPDATE: When you take out your subscription, use the Promo code U098 and instead of getting a 12 month subscription, you will get an extra 100 days free! So you will get 15 months for the price of 12 – now that is a good deal! See here for details.
