USING THE DROBO WITH WINDOWS HOME SERVER

We are often asked if the Drobo will work with Windows Home Server. Well, the answer to that is yes. You just connect it up as you would any other external drive and add it as usual via the Windows Home Server Console.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Unlike a lot of the newer NAS devices, this Drobo just is a simple NAS box that sits on your network and stores your files. You cant do whizzy things with it such as running webservers, downloading torrents or anything else, but then you should remember this device has been around for a few years.

Overall there was nothing too difficult about using the Drobo – set it up, plug it in and use it. Simple.

The available space on the drives can be a little confusing for some people though.

And that’s it – it does what it says on the tin. But with all the many other devices on the market that can do so much more, including several different Drobo devices (including ones that support eSata) it may be worth seriously thinking what you actually want a device like this to do for you.

Price wise, here in the UK Amazon are selling it for just under £300 and in the US Amazon have it for just under $330. But remember it has been around now for 2 years so there are much better deals to be had.

And remember, those prices are WITHOUT disks.
