ADDING DRIVES TO THE DROBO
Adding drives to the Drobo is very simple – you just remove the front panel and then slide a drive in (working from the bottom upwards).
You may want to add a drive at a time and allow the Drobo to configure it – I added all the drives in one go at first and got some warnings when I first ran the software.
USING THE DROBO
Once you had added the drives, you just need to plug all the cables in, power up and run the software. There is even a little help diagram on the inside of the box lid to help you.
When you power on the Drobo, Windows will find your device.
Pop the Resource CD into your computer and select Drobo Dashboard to install the required software.
For those of you who like to see what happens, here are the installation screenshots:
Windows will ask you if you want to allow the program – Allow access.
Next the software will check for updates – in my case there were some updates.
You then walk through a series of questions that you select which options you want.
