The 1.0TB drive that ships with the Superstor is a Western Digital WD10EARS green drive, so it is quieter and more power friendly than some of the drives that ship with Windows Home Servers.

Here is information on the processor for those of you who are interested (Diehard!).
THE SQA-EX
The SQA Ex storage expansion box looks a lot like the SQA-5H and the Superstor. There are 5 empty drive bays for you to use.
The back has a single eSata connector for connecting to the Superstor.
THE SUPERSTOR AND THE EX TOGETHER
As you can see, when placed side by side, apart from the buttons and USB ports on the front of the Superstor, the two devices look pretty much the same. And you could have a total of three Ex’s plugged in if you want!
USING THE SUPERSTOR
After you have gone through the usual installation and configuration steps for Windows Home Server, the first thing you notice is that the Superstor has Power Pack 3 (PP3) preinstalled for you, which saves a bit of time when you first run Windows Update.
The Superstor also comes preinstalled with the AVA Media software which will assist you in ripping your digital collections to the Superstor. After all, isn’t that one of the reasons you might want a Superstor, with 3 Ex’s connected? ![]()

So it toasts 10 bagels at once?
now that would be a cool add-on – along with the USB fridge, I would never have to leave my office!
Wow, Nice stuff. I agree with you on Tranquil, they are continually updating their product.
You know what I want to see mate, say it with me. The inside.
I'll be surprised to see Tranquil try and add the 3 esata's to the RS5 box. Loaded with 5 2TB this thing is a brick.
Since your going to have the option of the 3 esata's, I'll recomment getting the SAFE module. I would not want to see this giant go down with almost 40TB of storage.
I look forward to see how ripping goes. I noticed that the AVA media software is just CD ripping while the RS5 model since it has the DVD drive includes the DVD ripping software which is a repackaged version of MyMovies comes bundled in.
If you can install that version on this box or the MyMovies addin, I'd like to hear from you if this thing chokes when ripping DVD's
Thanks again,
John.

🙂 now if I could just get someone to keep bringing me supplies…..
Don't stay to happy. Bought one of these a month ago and it's a brick! Daily blue screens and no technical support!
