Mortal Kombat: Aftermath Story Expansion Announced

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, a new expansion for the hit videogame Mortal Kombat 11, the best-selling title in franchise history that was named Fighting Game of the Year at the 2019 D.I.C.E. Awards. Set for a global release on digital first on 26 May (from 4pm BST in the UK and Ireland) and developed by award-winning NetherRealm Studios, Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath expands the critically acclaimed story campaign with an all-new, cinematic narrative centred around trust and deceit. 

The epic saga continues in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, as Fire God Liu Kang, the new keeper of time and protector of Earthrealm, must now enlist the help of unlikely allies and familiar foes to forge a new history as the fate of two worlds hang in the balance.

Adding to the growing roster of playable fighters, the new expansion features the triumphant return of Fujin, the God of Wind who serves as Earthrealm’s protector alongside his brother Raiden, and Sheeva, the four-armed, half-human and half-dragon queen of the ancient Shokan race. RoboCop, the iconic, highly advanced cybernetic police officer will make his first appearance in the franchise, continuing the pedigree of popular Mortal Kombat guest fighters. RoboCop in Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath features the voice and likeness of actor Peter Weller, who portrayed the popular character in both the original “RoboCop” (1987) film and “RoboCop 2” (1990) sequel. Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath will also include three new character skin packs to be released over time.
 
Additionally, all Mortal Kombat 11 owners will have access to new Stages, including the return of the Klassic Dead Pool and Soul Chamber arenas, accompanied by Stage Fatalities, the fan-favourite finishing moves that use the environment to destroy opponents, and the popular Friendships feature from the ‘90s, which allows players to take down their adversaries with a hint of kindness. These features will be available as a free content update in conjunction with the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath release.

This compilation includes Mortal Kombat 11 along with all content from Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath and the previously released Kombat Pack, containing six downloadable content (DLC) characters – Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, Terminator T-800, The Joker and Spawn – plus 25 additional character skins. The keyboard is quite heavy and so will sit firmly in place on your desk. It looks a little different to a normal keyboard as you can see the lights under each key. The body is made of aircraft-grade aluminium and it looks good. You can also position the keyboard in one of three different angles, depending on your personal preference and it’s quite compact.

They keys are very well spaced out and when pressing the keys, they make a very satisfying clicking sound!

The keys themselves all light up and they can be configured to light up in a variety of different colours with different effects. There are six presets; Color Cycle, Spectrum Wave, Breathing, Solid, 5 Zones, and Aurora.

You can customise the colours and the keyboard using the optional HyperX NGENUITY software which can be downloaded from the HyperX website. Need to set up a series of commands and macros? No problem, the software has you covered. You can even store three different profiles directly on the keyboard!

The USB-C cable is removable and quite long so you shouldn’t have any problems using the keyboard in most places and it makes it easy to carry should you need to take the keyboard anywhere.

The keyboard is compatible with a PC, PS4 or Xbox One should you wish you use it on a console.

The HyperX Alloy Origins Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is very comfortable to use whether you are tying a review or if you are heavily involved in an online battle to the death. It’s great to be able to set up specific profiles and have a keyboard thats unique to you.

Controllers are an important thing and so it’s always worth having a spare set or even a set you prefer to use, this is where the NSW JC-20 controllers come into play.

They look and feel very similar to the Switch joy cons and are easy to use. There is also a game-pad adaptor included in the box if you want to use the controllers with that – the choice is yours.

You simply charge them up and pair them with your Switch and away you go. The battery life is very good – you get around 12 hours of use out of a full charge. There is also a USB charging cable included in the box so you can charge them up – it includes two connectors so you can charge each one at the same time.

With more QI-enabled devices than ever available, including phones, mice and even headphones (HyperX have some and we will be reviewing them shortly), charging has become as easy as placing the device you want to charge on a mat. This is so much easier than having multiple cables and adaptors – now you have one charging mat and one power cable.

The cable that comes with the charger is long enough to be able to have the Base sitting on a desk or table and the power supply be a little way from there (it’s 1.8m long) – usually the cables are quite short so this was a really good addition.

You can charge one or two devices at the same time if you wish, the coloured LEDs so when they are charging (they show red) and go off when the charging is complete. All you need to do is place the QI-enabled device on the charge mat.

And that’s all there is to it – the ChargePlay Base works great, charges quickly and doesn’t take much room – what more do you want?

The effects, actual and projected, of Coronavirus are becoming evident across all aspects of our lives here in the UK and across the world, with many of our exhibitors and creators facing travel restrictions and quarantine measures. After extensive discussions with all the relevant public health, local and national authorities, and with our Rezzed partners, we have taken the decision not to go ahead with this year’s event.

Right now it is very difficult to see the September event taking place considering E3 and Gamescom have been cancelled for 2020, but personally hoping things change for the better and EGX 2020 can take place in September.

Once you have charged up the tablet you have to create your profiles – this is really easy and then you are ready to start using it. You can even customise the profile and background pictures so its really personalised just for your child. The Frozen II tablet comes with preinstalled Frozen II apps, games and books to use straight away.

There is an app store called GameStore Junior included on the tablet which has (according to Pebble) over 500+ games and apps to choose from. I can’t say for sure at the moment if there that many (I don’t think the app store is fully populated a the time of the review) but there are certainly lots to choose from, and they are all free (for the first 12 months – which means in-app purchases or adverts). This includes games and books too!

The battery life is very good and you can get between 7 and 9 hours per charge, depending on how you are using it.

There is 16GB of onboard storage but you can increase that by inserting a micro-SD card.

There are also front and rear cameras that can be used in different apps if you want.

Using the tablet is just like using any other tablet – you swipe and tap whatever you want.

The only real issues I found with the tablet was that it wasn’t very easy to get back to menus – you have to do this diagonal swipe motion which sometimes doesn’t seem to work. A button would have been easier, especially for a child! Also, some of the apps didn’t work and give an error that the version of Android is wrong (the tablet is actually PebbleOS which is based on Android 8.1). I suspect this might be because the tablet isn’t actually out yet and the apps or the tablet need an update. This only happened a few times so I am not too concerned about it being any real issue.

Over the Frozen II tablet is fantastic – it’s got everything you need to keep your child occupied and entertained without the constant nagging of apps asking you to pay extra! The fact it also comes with a branded bumper to keep it protected means you don’t have to worry about accidental damage. Especially during these current times this tablet is a must!

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Officially Revealed with New Trailer Coming April 30

Well the leaks were accurate and Ubisoft have finally revealed the title and setting for the next game in the Assassin’s Creed Series…..Assassin’s Creed Valhalla!

Revealed with a nine hour stream as the graphic artist Bosslogic drew the below artwork finally revealing and confirming that the setting will be set in the Viking era.

The setting has me very much excited and hopefully it will follow on from the same open world style of AC Odyssey which set a new benchmark for the series. Very much looking forward to seeing the first trailer for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla tomorrow at 4pm UK time tomorrow.

But the road to a new Assassin’s Creed game has begun….
