The action-packed combat game is set to launch in the UK & EU on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC April 26th, prior to the May 17th theatrical release of Star Trek Into Darkness.  The game is based on a stand-alone storyline that continues the adventure of iconic characters Kirk and Spock as they work together to stop the legendary ‘Gorn’ enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy.

I recently interviewed Brian Miller from Paramount Pictures and got some time on the time, so watch out for both of those posts soon.

How Will Wright Play’s The New SimCity

How does the creator of the original SimCity play the new SimCity?

SimCity_Disasters_Meteor_thumb1_thum[1]

Maxis Studio invited videogame luminary Will Wright to play the game before it is launched and last week, he interviewed Creative Director Ocean Quigley on the design choices behind the new game.  Now Lead Designer Stone Librande turns the tables on Will Wright and asks him about how he builds his cities.

Here is the video:

Developed by the renowned Maxis studio in Emeryville, SimCity delivers unprecedented depth of simulation with the new GlassBox Engine, where everything is simulated, including up to 100,000 individual Sims in a city, to every Kilowatt of power pulsing through a region of cities. The model-like world and detail of the simulation make this the most responsive and personalSimCity ever. This is also the most expansive city management game yet where multi-city gameplay across regions delivers a larger playing field. Play a single city or up to 16 cities at once each with different specialisations, it’s your choice.

Multiplayer is also a first for the series, adding a new dimension to the game, as decisions impact both the city and the region, creating new ways to play by collaborating or competing to earn achievements. Finally, SimCity is a live service that simulates real-time updates and pushes them to players in the form of new challenges. Through this platform, Maxis is also able to provide a continuous stream of new gameplay features and content. Whether you play by yourself, with your friends or the rest of the world, SimCity introduces an infinite world of possibilities. What kind of mayor will you be?

SimCity will be released in March 2013 for the PC and Mac.

So are you interested in the new SimCity? If so let us know by leaving a comment below.

MAXIM Delivers Execution Mode and Two Multiplayer Maps Post-Launch for Free

Microsoft, Epic Games and MAXIM are delivering even more adrenaline-fueled action to “Gears” fans with the post-launch release of two free MAXIM-sponsored multiplayer maps – Haven and Capitol – as well as Execution Mode.

In Execution mode, the objective of each team is to kill all members of the enemy team before the time limit runs out. The catch? Unless hit with a one-shot kill weapon like the Booshka, players go into a “Down But Not Out” state and will revive at the end of the bleed-out timer instead of dying. To finish the job, perform an Execution on a downed enemy. For more details including a first look at Haven, head over to Maxim Online at: www.maxim.com/gow-haven

Gears of War: Judgment will launch worldwide on 19th March, 2013 on the Xbox 360.
