Huawei announces the HUAWEI WATCH GT and HUAWEI Band 3 Pro

0

Huawei Consumer Business Group (CBG) has announced two new wearables: HUAWEI WATCH GT and HUAWEI Band 3 Pro. Launched alongside the flagship HUAWEI Mate 20 Series, the new wearables offer novel and sophisticated ways for consumers to track their activities and receive fitness coaching that is based on scientific research.

Featuring the classic wristwatch design, ultra-high battery life, low power consumption, sophisticated activity tracking and fitness coaching features, the HUAWEI WATCH GT is one of the most hotly anticipated wearables of the year. The new HUAWEI watch bears the GT name to call attention to its high performance and reliability—just as grand tourers, or high-performance automobiles, are trusted for their prowess.

Made for Urban Explorers

Spurred by technical advancements and improving living standards, people are becoming more keen to explore the world around them. As an extension of smartphones, wearables complement the feature sets of today’s handsets to help consumers get more out of their devices. Designed for today’s urban explorers, the HUAWEI WATCH GT addresses one of the most common pain points of wearables: battery life.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT uses an innovative smart power-saving algorithm that enables it to dynamically switch between performance and efficiency modes, depending on user activity, for maximum battery life. This allows the smartwatch to stay powered for up to two weeks for frequent use mode. Furthermore, the dual-core architecture of the HUAWEI WATCH GT lets the wearable user enjoy the best of both worlds—it is simultaneously a powerful and highly efficient smartwatch.

HUAWEI WATCH GT

Besides improved performance and new features, the HUAWEI WATCH GT also sports a unique design. The 1.39-inch 454×254 AMOLED high-resolution display presents information cleanly on the wrist. The smartwatch body incorporates a dual-crown design with stainless steel and ceramic bezels and is treated with a DLC diamond carbon coating to provide users with durability that will last for decades. The 10.6mm case body is compatible with two band options—a dual-colour silicone band and an elegant leather-rubber band—giving users more choices to customise their HUAWEI WATCH GT for any occasion.

Powerful New Features

In addition to the ultra-long battery life, the HUAWEI WATCH GT features industry-leading positioning capabilities. The smartwatch can simultaneously tap into GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO, three of the major satellite positioning systems, for precise positioning. A tracking algorithm then optimises the tracking data to achieve one-to-one positioning even in areas with numerous disparate signals.

The HUAWEI WATCH GT also addresses the needs of active users. Based on its strength in positioning, HUAWEI WATCH GT also supports all-round sports activity tracking. Working with professional sports organisations, Huawei enables tracking for a range of sports, including indoor exercises, outdoor running, mountain climbing, cycling and open water swimming.  The watch also supports fitness coaching features. By analysing the heart rate of users with scientific methods, this feature lets users exercise more safely and healthily than ever before.

The TruSeen™ 3.0 heart rate monitoring technology tracks the user’s active and resting heart rate. Combining innovative PPG optical and hardware design and AI algorithms, the solution can monitor the heart rate of users in real time with high precision. In Sport mode, the HUAWEI WATCH GT can be set up to notify users to adjust the intensity of their workout based on a pre-set target heart rate interval. In Rest mode, the smartwatch automatically monitors and records the resting heart rate of users. The HUAWEI WATCH GT uses invisible lights to monitor the user’s heart rate during sleep, which is more intimate than other traditional methods.

HUAWEI Band 3 Pro: A Sports Wristband with Full Touch Screen

While smart wristbands on the market today often feature simple health monitoring functions, the lack of standardisation made a lot of the data unsuitable for medical use. In view of that, Huawei launches HUAWEI Band 3 Pro, a new smart wristband supporting a range of precise and professional monitoring capabilities, including improved heart rate and sleep monitoring.

HUAWEI Band 3 Pro

With HUAWEI TruSeen 3.0, HUAWEI Band 3 Pro accurately monitors the heart rate of a user throughout the day. Huawei also pioneered the use of IR (infrared) sensors to accurately track the user heart rate without using the obtrusive lights of conventional trackers.

Leveraging the same technology powering TruSeen 3.0, HUAWEI Band 3 Pro can also track sleep patterns with HUAWEI TruSleep 2.0. Moreover, the solution uses big data analysis to provide personalised services and suggestions to improve sleep quality. All of the aforementioned technologies were developed by Huawei in collaboration with authoritative organisations around the world, ensuring that the wearables are highly functional and professional.

The HUAWEI Band 3 Pro features a 0.95-inch HD AMOLED colour touchscreen that offers an expansive space to display data. The controls are easy and intuitive—users can navigate the various options on the screen by swiping vertically or horizontally, or by tapping the screen to return to Home.

Review: EA MADDEN 19

American Football has always been the one sport that both intrigues and confuses me. As someone who spent the majority of their young adult life playing Rugby, American Football was always something I understood as a sport but struggled with the TV presentation with all the stops with ad breaks and game stoppages making it what should be a sensible thing to watch into a two to three hour event just for the match itself. This is a sport that really comes to life in video games more than real life so after watching the New Orleans Saints take on the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium last year, the MADDEN series jumped back onto my radar. But can a person relatively new to the series pick up the latest instalment and not feel completely lost?

Thankfully I had two really good mates who were familiar with MADDEN enough to guide me through the newest edition from EA Sports in MADDEN 19 and on the surface, it certainly felt like what I know about the FIFA series with how the game is presented and the modes it offers. In fact it was almost disorientating to see just how much the FIFA menu system and style fits into MADDEN 19. It was a very daunting thing to see all the teams and modes and to know where to start.

But a start I must make and I will jump in and that visually MADDEN 19 is one of the best-looking sports video games I have seen and it really has made tremendous use of the FROST Engine to deliver an amazing looking game. In FIFA you only really go close up on the players in celebrations or ceremonial cut scenes but the action in American Football puts the camera right up close and behind the action and it is impressive to say the least. Looking at the build up to this game and there was a heavy focus on the new ‘Real Player Motion’ mechanic to the gameplay in an attempt to give the action a more realistic animation style which also allows more control oh how a player acts on the field from running with the ball and avoiding tackles to playing as defence and stopping pass attempts and stopping running plays. From previous games I remember trying to make a running play and hitting a defence player and that was it, hit and stopped. With Real Player Motion I genuinely felt I had more options especially in offence to change direction and even to escape tackle situations.

The fluidity in movement really surprised me, and it just works so well in this probably more so than FIFA because of how great this game looks up close thanks to the camera angle which makes every play and down you work for just jump off the screen and makes you feel each one. It is the type of system I would love to see adapted for Rugby, a sport which has never really been able to transfer to a video game well, could really benefit from. The level of detail and putting the player into the match is fantastic and probably as life life as a sports video game can get and even my mates who are more familiar with the series were impressed with this new evolution in gameplay.

MADDEN also has its own version of Ultimate Team, were players can create and manage their very own Team to take on those of other by collecting player cards to build your own squad just as you can in FIFA and was a mode I now always enjoy dabbling in so to find it here in MADDEN feels logical and comfortable. Ultimate Team mode has been refined since its introduction in last year’s game with a focus on making it less convoluted and complicated reducing the amount of time micro managing the small stuff such as player contracts, something that drove me nuts in the FIFA 18 version of UT.

Team chemistry is still a factor of a good team and by putting together compatible players you can strengthen your team and again thanks to the overhaul has made far simpler now that the pre-existing chemistry which cards had originally have now been removed making it easier to put a squad together that you what want. Players can be upgraded by using training to enhance their skills ratings with training points being acquired when selling unwanted player cards. Ultimate Team is still the greatest ‘Fantasy Football’ a fan of a sport can enjoy and with American Football expanding this to include draft season and Franchise ownership, this is the truest experience die hard fans can enjoy.

So, MADDEN 19 already has more than enough content and modes for any fan of the sport to dig their teeth into and enjoy which is why the continuation of the story mode is as baffling to me in this game just as ‘The Journey’ is in FIFA. In MADDEN this comes in the form of ‘Longshot: Homecoming’. This is now the second chapter of this mode after being introduced last year and even as a casual fan of American Football, this had me eye rolling at the cringing way in how the story of Devin Wade still chasing his dream of being an NFL Superstar as he is battling to earn a place on the Dallas Cowboy’s roster. Another character in Colt Cruise also returns and is now working as a musician as he is also waiting to hear about an opportunity to play for an NFL team. As a story this is very much more soap opera then becoming a sporting hero and living your dream. I mean why the story writers felt the need to introduce a surprise sibling to Colt in the form of a sister he never knew about just felt so non-sport related and pointless to me. It has a four hour length as well, so unless you are a fan of this story mode from last year, it just comes across as a distraction which has zero impact on your own UT team for example and has issues with cut scenes not reflecting your performance in the gameplay portions as in one instance I deliberately played as badly as I could, and still had a “you’re looking promising” scene afterwards. I never understood why EA felt the need to inject a cinematic story mode into their sports titles, and this here just failed to grabbed me at all or left me wanting to see what happens to the characters in the future.

MADDEN 19 is a solid sporting game and considering it has no rivals, provides the only and best NFL experience you can have right now. Visually impressive with gameplay mechanics in ‘Real Player Motion’ that really add something to the physicality of each match. I will say that going into this relatively blind but with some experience of the sport, it did not do enough to help me really learn the ropes, it is a series that now expects you to have played previous games and simply react to the improvements made rather then welcoming in new players to the series. I enjoyed playing against friends and even when taking this online and getting my butt handed to me repeatedly by more experience players was fun. I was able to learn the different plays and come up with my own strategy which admittedly still needs plenty of work, but I am enjoying it a great deal as a casual fan of the sport.

This may not offer any ground-breaking changes for those who are long term players of the series but the tweaks and refinements have made some of the modes like Ultimate Team far more user friendly. Now if I can just make that last minute Superbowl style long pass into a touchdown moment, I would be a very happy fan!

Huawei announces the Mate 20 serie of phones in London

Huawei has just announced the Huawei’s Mate 20 series at a massive event in London today. To introduce its second flagship smartphones for the second half of the year.

The Mate 20 Pro has a 6.39-inch OLED display, slightly rounded at the sides. The panel has a fingerprint reader integrated into the lower area behind the actual screen, the display works with a full 3120 x 1440 pixels.

Huawei’s display of the Mate 20 Pro, also a Vertical Surface Emitting Laser (VSEL) module In order to realize in this way an Apple’s Face ID in many ways similar unlocking by means of face recognition via infrared laser technology.

With a flash on the top left and 40 megapixel on the top right bottom left is an 8 megapixel and the bottom right is a 20 megapixel

So again comes from the Huawei P20 Pro known the main sensor with a full 40-megapixel resolution is used, which has an F / 1.8 aperture and is to provide by “Light Fusion” technology for better pictures. It combines in the standard setting four pixels to one, so as to increase the image quality.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro 6.39″

Huawei also installed a 20-megapixel sensor with F / 2.2 aperture, which is equipped with a Telephoto, and a new ultra-wide-angle sensor, which dissolves with eight megapixel. Together, the sensors should correspond to focal lengths of 16 to 80 millimetres and, in addition to an optical 5x zoom, enable ultra-macro shots from the smallest distances – Huawei promises that you can shoot pictures from a distance of only 2.5 centimetres.

Of course, we also want to provide again the previously introduced functions in the field of artificial intelligence, in which the smartphone with the help of two Neural Processing Units (NPU) analyzed the image content and uses optimized settings.

Among other things, Nightshot images are possible in which the software analyzes images based on various points and thus electronically stabilized.

Huawei’s own Kirin 980 Octa-core SoC, already announced at the IFA this year, is under the hood. It is the first SoC with seven-nanometer structure width, which is installed in an Android smartphone. The chip uses three clusters of differently fast clocked ARM Cortex-A55 and ARM Cortex-A76 cores, the latter being divided into two groups. The A55 powerlines run as a cluster of four cores with a maximum of 1.8 gigahertz, while two of the A76 high-end cores with up to 1.9 and two more with up to 2.6 gigahertz work.

Add to that a powerful ARM Mali-G72 graphics engine, which, together with the new, faster ARM cores, gives the Kirin 980 tremendous power that puts the chip at the forefront of Android-powered processors for the time being. Depending on the country and model, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be equipped with six or even eight gigabytes of fast LPDDR4X memory.

You can expect optical zoom support of up to 5X and support for macro shots, Huawei says you’ll be able to place the camera as close as 2.5cm to the subject.

Other specs include a 6.39-inch OLED screen with 3120 X 1440 resolution, 7nm Kirin 980 processor with second-gen NPU, 6GB RAM, 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit WLAN, LTE, and a 4,200mAh battery.

Huawei introduces has announced its own memory card format with the Mate 20 Pro, while the P20 Pro didn’t come with a MicroSD card slot, the Mate 20 Pro is no different. However, Huawei can help in other ways: The company introduces the so-called “Nano-Memory Cards”, which are memory cards in the format of a Nano-SIM card, which comes with capacities of up to 256 gigabytes. These should be as fast as good MicroSD cards, just much smaller.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is equipped with a 4200mAh large battery, which compared to its predecessor and the P20 Pro thus once again a whole piece has grown. It’s loaded with a new 40-watt power supply in no time at all, with Huawei setting its own, once again improved, SuperCharge standard.

The improved power supply is apparently supplied directly from the factory. It can charge the Mate 20 Pro’s huge battery to 70% of its capacity in 30 minutes, with the Mate 20 will do 58% in 30 minutes.

The Mate 20 Pro also offers wireless charging for the first time, and also offers the option of directly downloading compatible devices.

Huawei wireless charger 15 watts

The reverse wireless charging technique could, therefore, be used by the user to charge other smartphones wirelessly.

The Mate 20 Pro is waterproof to IP68 and is therefore designed to resist both dust and water with depths of up to 1.5 meters. The device supports both extremely fast LTE networks but also transmits via NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and Gigabit WLAN with dual-band support. The device is 8.6 millimetres thick and brings it to a weight of 189 grams, which is probably due mainly to the large battery in this years model.

Android 9.0 ‘Pie’ and EMUI 9.0
The operating system is the new Android 9.0 “Pie” in conjunction with the Huawei’s own interface EMUI 9.0 used. Huawei has just overhauled the software in many ways and tried to slim down. So, among other things, the handling of the countless settings should be easier to do.

In addition, Huawei’s navigation via gesture control has now arrived, which has already become standard on Google’s pixel smartphones.

Twilight
Midnight Blue
Pink Gold
Black
Emerald Green

Huawei is launching the Mate 20 Pro in four colours both the Midnight Blue and Emerald Green has a texture like on the back like a vinyl record this makes fewer fingerprint marks on your phone and adds more grip to the device also available in Black and Twilight and Pink Gold, my two favourite colours are the Emerald Green and the Twilight.

Price starting from €1049, with preorders starting today the 16th October.

Kids plans for the Future are out of this World

0

With the launch of Starlink Battle for Atlas, out tomorrow the 16th October, Ubisoft has commissioned new cross-generational research which reveals that almost a third (29%) of centennials believe space travel is the answer to sustainability and population issues on earth.

Both adults (37%) and children (29%) agree that space travel offers a realistic solution to solve the issues of renewable energy on earth. With future gazing Brits believing we could be made to leave the planet because our world has run out of natural resources, almost half (45%) of those surveyed think that it’s probable we will one day be made to move to another planet because of overcrowding.

Generations are aligned in their ambitions to experience space travel; 88% of kids and over two thirds (71%) of adults think it will be possible for humans to live on other planets in the future. Statistics show that Centennials remain the most enthused about exploring the solar system; 57% of kids are excited by the concept of space travel.

With this in mind, it’s no surprise two fifths (42%) of adults agree that space survival skills should be taught in schools to prepare their children for life on other planets. Here are the top five skills adults think they need to survive on another planet:

Survival skills (61%)
Understanding of science (47%)
Being able to build structures (46%)
High level of physical fitness (45%)
A full understanding of agriculture (38%)

The research also reveals that British kids fancy a vacation to Venus, with two thirds (63%) agreeing that in the future humans will be able to visit other planets on holiday. Whilst over three quarters (82%) of 8-year old children predict that space travel will be part of their future holiday plans.

To accompany the research findings, Ubisoft has collaborated with Commander Chris Hadfield on a content series of films to be released throughout World Space Week ahead of the game’s launch on 16th October. When asked about his own inspiration to pursue a life in the stars, Commander Chris Hadfield commented: “Science fiction encouraged me to pursue a career in space exploration; imagination is crucial to inspire exploration and discovery. If you see someone achieving something you never thought was possible, it becomes probable and the seed of a dream is planted. So many things I’ve done have been stimulated by creative experience. If something engages you, it changes you and makes you look at the world a little differently.’ Finally, teaching children to believe in themselves is vital if they want to achieve something great in technology or space.”

Stefan McGarry, Senior PR Manager at Ubisoft, commented: “The team at Ubisoft Toronto have created Starlink: Battle for Atlas so that children and parents can embark on the ultimate adventure with modular starships in order to protect valuable natural resources against alien lifeforms. We’ve loved working on these videos with Chris Hadfield and think they offer practical advice on the possibilities of real-life space travel for aspiring dreamers. It’s also wonderful to hear how excited the next generation are about the possibilities of inhabiting another planet, and their enthusiasm around space exploration, which are all very promising signs for a future in the stars.”

Starlink: Battle for Atlas will be released tomorrow Tuesday, 16th October and will be available on Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Review: Doctor Who Series 11 Episode 2 – The Ghost Monument

After huge success of the first episode of Series 11 with both fans and ratings, now it is time to see the traditional “take the new companion(s) into space” which was quite literal considering how The Woman Who Fell to Earth ended. So far we have yet to see the new look TARDIS as well as actual title sequence for this series. The 13th Doctor has her new look and new friends to share her adventures with, now it is time to see how they get on and if the magic can continue with The Ghost Monument.

*Quick note that this is a spoiler free review so I will be refraining from going into too much detail about the story other then what has been shown in trailers and mild references to The Woman Who Fell to Earth.*

We catch up moments after Episode 1 ended with The Doctor having attempted to teleport to where the TARDIS was signalling from except it went wrong, and The Doctor and new friends ending up floating in space. But first I have to comment on just how fantastically awesome the new look title sequence and mix of the classic Doctor Who theme is with series 11, which felt a bit short but that could just be because we are still in just episode 2.

One of the most fun and quite nervous thing about the second episode of a new series with a new Doctor, is seeing how the new companion or in this case trio of companions, react and then adjust to what travelling with the Doctor can mean. What is making it far more interesting this time is that the companions of Yasmin, Ryan and Graham (Mandip Gill/Toslin Cole/Bradley Walsh) are only with the Doctor by accident after the teleport simply scooped them up by mistake. The writer was quite clever in opening this episode by splitting the team up into twos as Ryan and Graham wake to find themselves on a strange space ship whilst Yasmin wakes up to find the Doctor arguing with the pilot of their own ship which is getting read to crash land on a planet simply known as Desolation.

Yet again the pace of the story telling is quick but still manages to give each character a chance to have screen time to continue their own story arcs such as Graham and Ryan still dealing with the death of Nan from last week. The Doctor is very quick to being back on form with no signs of hesitation or the confusing from the regeneration, and Jodie is once again on absolutely brilliant form and I have to say I am really enjoying the personality of the 13th Doctor who is coming across confident and brave but also compassionate and forward thinking. There does seem to be some effort to keep all the timey whimey references and sci-fi speak to a minimum and a conscious effort to not have the Doctor do everything with the companions stepping in with either advice or ideas which the Doctor takes on board. In just two episodes this team has united strongly and not even Bradley Walsh a Graham became too annoying with his comedic nature definitely being toned down or even held back so its more of an acting performance then light relief.

The visuals and special effects are still a level above previous series and a real cinematic feel to everything from wide panning location shots to taking the camera high up to show the characters running about in the action scenes when they start to pick up towards the end. A lovely moment sees the Doctor get to explain her no guns policy to Ryan who is all too quick to pick up an alien gun and go all ‘Call of Duty’ as he puts after the Doctor insists they can outsmart the enemies only to come back with his tail between his legs before the Doctor takes action to prove why brains over brawn has always been the Doctors Way.

The story for me was sadly pretty forgettable and though it was fun, it really was simply a case of getting the humans to react to being on an alien world for the first time. So Ghost Monument is a pretty standard by the numbers affair which also sadly left one companion in Yasmin with very little to really do as like episode 1, Ryan is the companion with the most screen time as Yas pretty much says the right thing and does nothing of any consequence which I am hoping future episodes will give Mandip Gill something to sink her teeth into story and performance wise. The ending was exactly what I was hoping for in terms of how it delivers the moment all whovians look forward to following a Doctor regeneration but that is something worth watching for yourself and I have to agree with The Doctor, I really really like it too.

So now everyone has experienced a short adventure on an alien world the next story undoubtedly has to be an adventure in time, and the trailer for episode 3 shows that is exactly where the Doctor and team are heading to next. Jodie’s performance and Doctor is still captivating to see on screen and so far no little nods or references have been made to previous Doctor’s as yet but so far it is still ticking all the right boxes for me as a fan and threads are starting to be sown regarding who the big bad might be this series.

Early days but still enjoying everything so far but still have concerns about the number of companions after seeing how Yasmin played the third wheel in this episode but the audience and new cast are certainly being eased into this new series and once we get the travelling in time episode out the way I am hoping the training wheels can be removed and the new Doctor and companions really get to have exciting adventures.

NEW Ghost Mode, 1-Versus-1 Competitive Multiplayer, announced for HITMAN 2

0

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and IO Interactive today announced the addition of competitive multiplayer for HITMAN 2. Ghost Mode is a unique and brand-new take on 1-versus-1 online competition, putting players’ assassination skills to the ultimate test.

Agent 47 is the world’s deadliest assassin, and the only person who can match him in skill, stealth and execution is… himself.

Therefore, Ghost Mode allows two players to compete against each other online, both as Agent 47, to assassinate the most targets in a match. At the start of each round, both players begin side-by-side and must race to take out the same targets faster and cleaner than their opponent, while utilizing weapons, items, outfits and ghost crate supply drops along the way to help accomplish the overall mission.

The unique twist with Ghost Mode in HITMAN 2 is that players will simultaneously hunt targets while in the same location and can see a “ghost” version of their rival gamer to track progress against their own, but they exist in separate realities unaffected by the actions of their adversary. In Ghost Mode, the player who can outsmart, outplay and outkill their opponent by eliminating five targets first, will declare victory.

Ghost Mode will be available for the Miami location when HITMAN 2 launches on November 13. Ghost Mode will subsequently become available for additional HITMAN 2 locations, as well as other World of Assassination locations, post-launch.

“Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is packed with an amazing array and a massive amount of content across Multiplayer, Zombies and Blackout, and the launch marks just the beginning of an incredible journey ahead,” said Rob Kostich, EVP and GM, Call of Duty. “When you pick up a Black Ops game, you know you have something you are going to play for a really long time, but Black Ops 4 takes that to an entirely new level. The team’s commitment is clear – no matter what kind of player you are, there is a ton of content to be enjoyed, and there is even more to come for everyone in the community. Black Ops 4 is unlike anything Treyarch has ever created and we think fans are going to have a blast.”

“We revealed playable Multiplayer earlier than ever, put in more Zombies available on day one than any other game, held two Betas, and along the way the response from the Black Ops community has been nothing short of incredible,” said Dan Bunting, Co-Studio Head, Treyarch. “Our mission was to build a game from the ground up that allowed fans to have fun together and play with one another in new ways – that’s just what we did, and the launch of Black Ops 4 is just the start. This is a game that we plan to support for the long haul.”

“The ambition driving the studio’s efforts doesn’t end there however; in fact, it’s been a colossal endeavor: from creating a signature take on battle royale with Blackout, to going all-out on PC with Beenox and working with Blizzard to bring the game to Battle.net for the first time, we pushed ourselves more than any game we’ve ever made. We feel that says something and we believe that it shows,” said Mark Gordon, Co-Studio Head, Treyarch. “We’ve been developing Black Ops games for ten years now, and I’ve never seen the studio create anything on this scale before.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 features three distinct modes of play: Multiplayer, Zombies and Blackout. Multiplayer features gritty, grounded combat in the most tactical, team-based experience in the Black Ops series to date. It features the return of the iconic Pick 10 system, along with a series of innovations in weapon controls, combat flow, health regeneration, and player movement. Black Ops 4 also features a combination of new and returning Specialists, each with their own unique equipment and playstyles, allowing players to not only be powerful alone, but devastating as a team working together.

Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the original Call of Duty Zombies, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 debuts an entirely new Zombies experience that is the biggest Day One offering in franchise history, with three fully-featured Zombies experiences at launch – IX, Voyage of Despair and Blood of the Dead. With the most customizable action to date, the mode introduces new systems for creating and completing community challenges, and social systems designed to connect players.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 introduces Blackout, an all-new Battle Royale mode that brings together characters, locations, weapons and gear from across the series in all-out survival combat, all with Black Ops signature gameplay. Blackout features land, sea and air vehicles, and offers a variety of new and classic playable characters, including campaign characters like Mason, Reznov and Woods; Zombies characters like Richtofen and Takeo; and Specialists like Crash, Battery and Seraph, to name a few. Across the sprawling Blackout map – the largest in Call of Duty history – players will fight in locations inspired by fan-favorite maps like Nuketown, Firing Range, Raid, Cargo and more.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which will feature a steady stream of post-release content across all modes, and a variety of free content for the entire community through a robust calendar of events, playable first on PlayStation 4.

Review: Forza Horizon 4

After the disastrous and controversial release of Forza Motorsports 7 and all the microtransaction shenanigans that killed the experience for me and so many others, tainted the series for Xbox One Players, I have been eagerly waiting for Forza Horizon 4. The main reason is that I still prefer the more arcade style racing games to the more simulated racers just because driving in real life is enough of an experience that in video games I do just want to have fun. Following the release of The Crew 2, I was very much intrigued to see what Forza Horizon 4 would bring to the table as well as what the new setting would bring to the series for Horizon 4 is coming to the UK, and it was time to go for a drive back home!

Well I say back home but truth be told that to say Forza Horizon 4 has come to the UK is true, the main focus of the playing area is Scotland, so sadly no chance to go driving around like an idiot in London. But following this release since E3 and there is a lot to be excited about with Horizon 4 and after Horizon 3 took Australia by storm, I was curious to see what 4 could do to top that crazy ride for fans. What is obvious straight away is that Developer Playground Games has put all their hearts and souls into this game and it is an immediately impressive game to fire up and then simply deliver the best kind of racing experience I have enjoyed in recent years.

To kick things off the first thing I have to say is just how much the visuals blew my mind with just gorgeous and stunning everything looks on screen, from the standard Xbox One to the Xbox One X, this is a beautiful game to look at. The cars have never looked better in my opinion and with 450 cars currently in the game, players will be spoiled for choice right from the very start. Now I am no petrol head by any means but can still appreciate how beautiful cars can look and for me right now, Horizon 4 is the best celebration of cars right now on console. Each and everyone is just eye candy to feast on from the basic family car you would see everyday to out of reach expensive super and hyper cars you may never get to drive in real life, Horizon 4 serves them up on a platter and makes them so accessible to get as well but will come to that a bit later on.

As beautiful as the cars are, the real treat in Horizon 4 is the setting and boy does this game make the UK, Scotland in particular, look fantastic. It was a clever decision to use Scotland as it certainly ticks all the boxes for where you can drive both on roads to off road dirt tracks and is especially lovely when in free roam driving to each event just to take in the detail and majestic backgrounds that just make flooring the car you are driving to the limit such a delicious treat. Every location makes you want to screenshot and capture everything it is that pleasing on the eyes and it is the little details as well that you notice the longer you play which in particular is then boosted by the new ‘Seasons’ feature to Horizon 4. The UK is probably most famous for its everchanging weather and the team at Playground games has taken this to a whole new level in this game. Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter are all represented with a new season each week that not only changes the visuals on where you are driving but also the driving conditions as well and the events you can take part in.

The first time you experience this is in the quite excellent prologue event all players must complete before the full game really unlocks for them. It serves as a tremendous tutorial into how Horizon works by taking players through different race types and teaching players how to use the menus and features to get the best out of the game. In order to unlock the fully open world of the game you must qualify for the Horizon League by completing each of the season stages which is a great way to ease you into how Horizon will work going forward as players progress through the game. Seasons come into play as they change the conditions of driving with Autumn and Winter making the biggest changes such as in Autumn players can expect more rain which will make the roads slippery and far more muddy conditions to contend with just as Winter will make the roads icier and snow-covered areas to drive though. All these changes will affect racing conditions and knowing which type of car is best suited for each season is something the prologue handles very well as well as providing the first set of cars players will put in their garage. The prologue really prepares players for how to play and be in the world of Horizon 4 that despite it being quite long to complete, it is absolutely worthwhile because the moment you do qualify for the Horizon league, the freedom to play as you want is impactful and immediate.

Once you are in the full Horizon experience everything is designed to allow the freedom to play just how you want to play. There is an abundance of activities to do from the different racing types and competitions to the iconic Horizon open world side activities and the world map will quickly fill up with icons of things to do such as speed traps, stunt jumps and the fun of finding all the influence and credit road signs to smash through. So, whether you just want to race or just explore and free roam around the map, there is always something to do which gives a constant reason to return to the game and provides a nice break from constant racing to just go for a drive and still be able to earn credits and progression. My own personal favourite events are the Showcase events which are similar to the big Top Gear marquee events which put a car against another vehicle type and in Horizon 4 this is taken to a new level of awesomeness. There are five showcase events to begin with starting by racing a large hovercraft before racing The Flying Scotsman train. It only gets more impressive when you take on racing motocross racers and a Delta-Wing plane. The standout showcase event has to be the specially Xbox themed HALO Showcase, which puts players in the driver seat of a Warthog as you race against a UNSC Pelican with all the road signs taking on a HALO theme whilst Cortana talks to you as you drive, oh and you actually get to be the Master Chief which is beyond epic.

The focus on playing with friends and sharing the Horizon 4 experience is threaded all through the game with the use of Convoys and Clubs. Convoys allows up to 11 players to share in activities across the map. If you are all in the same driving club, then all influence earned by club members will help increase the clubs rank on the online leader board. The wider community comes together as well as usual with Forza games with the player created custom cosmetic designs for cars that are free to download and there are some brilliant designs which are offered the moment you select a new car to buy. The community is one of the bonus aspects to the Forza series on Xbox and in Horizon 4 it is also taken to a new level thanks to MIXER. Players can earn extra influence by either streaming Forza Horizon 4 on MIXER for those who do stream but also by just watching another Horizon 4 stream on MIXER, just look for a blue ribbon under the stream title to know if you can earn influence by watching. In the options to Horizon 4 you can even opt out of copyrighted music from the soundtrack in ‘Streamer Mode’ so that you can safely stream and not worry about having the music removed for copyright reasons from highlights or game captures. This is a game you can play solo or with friends and wants all players to embrace the social aspects to it by providing multiple ways to experience the game either through playing or just being in the community.

The car packs which you gain access too by the higher value editions of the games also do not lock players out from owning those cars even if you just have the base game. For example, the ultimate version of the game gives immediate access to the James Bond car pack but for me who just has the base game via Games Pass, I was able to buy the Aston Martin DB5 with in game currency. A huge lesson has been learned from the disastrous microtransaction mess of Motorsports 7 so that for Horizon the experience is completely obtainable from just playing the game, but car packs can be purchased with real money to save the grind of earning the credits needed to buy the cars but still making them available for those who are happy to obtain them via gameplay. You also earn spins on the Horizon Super or normal Wheelspin boards. These are slot machine spins which can reward you with a random car, credit boost or cosmetic clothing for your driver with the Super spin version giving you three rewards per spin. Everything you do in the game will reward you with something such as added perks to the cars you drive the most to buff rewards from driving them to earning skill points from just driving around which can build up to give you a spin to win something.

Horizon 4 ticks so many boxes for me and you can not be impressed by the open experience Playground Games have created that really works hard not to hold player progression back but instead just provides the tools for players to just go and have a ruddy good time with. It should also be pointed out that this game is also included in the Xbox Game Pass so you can play the full base game right now if you are a subscriber but even if you just use the free 14 day trial for the pass you can play this. Forza Horizon 4 for perhaps the first time has changed the way I look at the pass as going forward, the quality of Microsoft first party games that will join the games pass on day of release almost make the subscription a no brainer.

The Forza series is firmly back on track thanks to Horizon 4 which for me is simply the best racing game this year just because of how much content there is for players and how rewarding it is for players of all types from the casual arcade racer like me to the true petrol heads who like to tune their cars to perfection.  I have nothing but good things to say about this game so grab the Games Pass and play it right now or go and buy it, either way you will not regret it.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The LEGO Group and DC Entertainment released a NEW trailer for LEGO DC Super-Villains ahead of its 19th October launch in the UK, showcasing the chaos of a world without super heroes.

For the first time in a LEGO game, players will be given the opportunity to unleash their inner bad guy, creating their own fully customisable super-villain character complete with their own signature super power.

In LEGO DC Super-Villains, the Justice League has disappeared, leaving Earth’s protection to a newcomer group of heroes from a parallel universe, proclaiming themselves as the ‘Justice Syndicate’. However, legendary DC Super-Villains, including The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor, Deathstroke, Killer Frost and countless others, discover that the Justice Syndicate may not be as heroic as they claim to be. Led by each player’s customisable super-villain character, this team of misfit lawbreakers must join forces to stop these phony super heroes and save the world… so that they can finally rule it themselves.

LEGO DC Super-Villains will be available next Friday 19th October 2018 in the UK for PlayStation 4, Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch and PC.
