The free-to-play, free-for-everyone Call of Duty: Warzone will take on a new dimension as it integrates with both Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare.  Player progression will be synchronised across all three titles, and weapon progression from Black Ops Cold War or Modern Warfare both will be shared with Warzone. Starting now, Black Ops Cold War Operators will be available for play in Warzone, and beginning December 10 at the launch of Season One, Black Ops Cold War weapons will become available in Warzone, allowing Warzone players to access either their Black Ops Cold War or Modern Warfare loadouts, respectively, for play.

MOANOPOLY: 9 in 10 Brits admit there is a sore loser in their family; Mr. Monopoly is here to help!

0

Have you ever fallen victim to a MONOPOLY Sore Loser? Has your opposition stormed out of the room? Have you had MONOPOLY money thrown across the table when all you asked for was rent to visit your Mayfair hotel? Or are you the Sore Loser that friends and family won’t play with anymore? Well, Mr. MONOPOLY is here to help…

The Sore Losers Small Claims Fund launches today and is the chance for sore losers, and their family and friends, to wipe the slate clean and apply for a cash reimbursement for any previous MONOPOLY misdemeanours. With 92% of Brits admitting there is a sore loser in the family and one in four (26%) playing more boardgames this year, the fund launch is timely.

To apply, simply text SORE LOSER to 80800 and follow the simple instructions for your chance to claim. All successful applicants will receive a £20 cheque and a copy of the new MONOPOLY For Sore Losers game to avoid any future fall-outs. You can make a claim if you’ve exhibited or been privy to one of the following five behaviours:

  1. False accusations

Incorrectly calling out that somebody cheated during the game

Just because the banker is doing well does not automatically mean they’re skimming

  1. The MONOPOLY Meltdown

Tantrums, foot-stomping, funny faces, sulking and claiming ‘it’s not fair’

There’s no need to lose your cool in a long game, but if an alliance has been made that you don’t agree with or you’ve narrowly missed out on the Free Parking stash, there’s no need to have a meltdown

  1. Unsporting behaviour

During game play one should conduct themselves in a fair, respectful, and gracious way

Bickering about which token to choose; refusal to accept being served fees, fines or bills; throwing money across the table; or worst of all – leaving the game early

  1. Infringement of the rules

Bending the rules in support of one player

A sleight of hand often used by parents to avoid a MONOPOLY Meltdown. Not limited to, but including: slipping a player money, excusing a rent payment or claiming a different number appeared on the dice

  1. Damager to the game

The board flip

Tensions can run high, but a board flip can never be excused, even if you’ve been served jail time and someone is about to land on your newly purchased hotels

The research revealed the most prominent behaviour displayed by a sore losers is sulking when losing, with 51% admitting to this trait. Over a quarter of Brits (28%) admit they stop playing the game half way through if they’re losing, whilst 14% confessed they’ve even gone as far as to flip the board.

Looking at the family dynamic, siblings ranked as the biggest sore losers. With more men then women admitting to being a sore loser (27% vs 23%).

Louisa Parast, Marketing Director at Hasbro UK & Ireland, said: “We all know a sore loser and we love to celebrate iconic heroes from sports stars to reality TV stars… We’ve all got a favourite moment, and they know who they are.”

As a MONOPOLY expert I know there can be times when winning the game overpowers playing the game nicely and this notion can often stop families from getting MONOPOLY out of the cupboard. The Sore Losers Small Claims Fund, we hope, will go some way in wiping the slate clean for any previous damages whilst the new game should ensure that future fallouts can be avoided! It’s a win-win!”

MONOPOLY for Sore Losers game is the latest edition of the iconic board game which turns losing on its head. For once players will actually want to land on useless spaces, pay taxes and rent, and even go to Jail because they’ll collect Sore Loser coins. Get four Sore Loser coins and cash them in for the Mr. MONOPOLY token that lets players “stomp” around the board collecting money instead of paying out.

The Fund is also open for those playing on the MONOPOLY app. Boardgame frustrations can live virtually, though unlikely AI opponents would be cheating. To play the game online: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/monopoly/id1477966166

All claims to the MONOPOLY for Sore Losers fund should be submitted by 11th December 2020.

Acorn – A World in Pixels Book Announced

Any iPhone picked up today contains powerful chips developed directly using ARM-based chips, most notably developed originally on the BBC Micro by UK’s Acorn Computers, sometimes referred to as “British Apple”. 130 billion devices later, ARM technology helped to revolutionise technology as we know it today.

Acorn Computers created the BBC Micro in the late 1980s in a tie-up with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and went on to sell over 1.5 million units. The computer created a gold standard for at-home gameplay, education and even use in the world of business.

In a new book published by idesine, the entire legacy and games history of the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron is compiled into a single, timeless volume.

Synopsis of ‘Acorn – A World in Pixels’

Celebrate the visual games history of the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron with this case bound book, contained within a beautiful slip case.

Spread over 476 pages, with a foreword by Richard Hanson (Superior Software) and Life of an Acorn Gamer by TV’s Iain Lee, it features over 150 classic games, with exclusive interviews with key figures in the industry at the time – from the likes of David Braben and Ian Bell (Elite); Geoff Crammond (Revs/Aviator); Peter Irvin (Exile); Tim Tyler (Repton); Nick Pelling (Frak!); Peter Scott (Sim City/The Last Ninja); Gary Partis (Dr Who); Chris Roberts (Stryker’s Run); Steve Furber (Acorn) and many, many more – and features on subjects such as key publishers, cover art and classic magazines.

The book showcases the computers’ inimitable graphic style and is packed full with memories and anecdotes from programmers, artists, publishers, reviewers and enthusiasts. Remember Elite, Chuckie Egg, Repton, Exile, Starship Command, Thrust, Citadel, Revs, Imogen, Codename:Droid, Firetrack, Arcadians, Mr Ee!, Zalaga, Castle Quest, Galaforce, Snapper and many more.

An unmissable publication for anyone who grew up with an Acorn 8-bit machine.

“Elements of the games industry as we know it today grew up around, and because of these machines,” explains the publisher. “We wanted to compile the comprehensive history into one book, and make it something boasting extremely high quality – so it becomes a part of gaming history itself. It’s amazing to think that it began in a back alley office behind a British Gas showroom in Cambridge. It might have boasted just 22 kilobytes of memory (about enough to send an email today!), but it changed the computing world forever.”

Continuing, “Acorn Computers was founded by Hermann Hauser and Chris Curry. History should think of these two mavericks in the same realm as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, in terms of their impact on the world today. This book is a great gift for any fans of gaming, computer history or electronics.”

Reviews have been extremely positive. Retrogamer Magazine writes, “From the moment you gaze at Ste Pickford’s excellent cover and read Iain Lee’s intro you know a lot of love has been poured into this book. Its real strength comes once you get to the extensive game section … the entire book is rammed with developers who supported the machine in its halcyon days, from Tim Dobson (Monsters) to Mat Newman (Fortress) and Ian Bell (Free Fall). Every notable game is covered, including a great piece on Elite from both Ian Bell and David Braben.”

Review: Zepp E Smartwatch

It’s time to review the Zepp E Smartwatch.

Launched in August 2020, Zepp E series is a line of fashionable smart watches with “borderless arc” design, which aims at simplicity, efficiency and convenience. Namely Zepp E Circle and Zepp E Square, the watches are equipped with AMOLED HD color screens, the Zepp E series supports 11 sports modes and is water resistant to 5ATM. It can perform AI analysis on multidimensional human physiological indicators such as heart rate, blood-oxygen saturation and sleep. Additionally, Zepp E can use algorithms to convert users’ health data into numeric values to help assess their health status intuitively.

The Zepp app is essential for the management of a user’s physical health. This app can provide comprehensive, 24/7 management of user well-being, helping users check their physical condition anytime and anywhere. Main functions include health-data display and interpretation, exercise-data display, and smart device management:

  • Health-data display: Physical data such as the step count, sleep, heart rate, calories burned, blood-oxygen level, and 24/7 professional interpretation.
  • Exercise data analysis: Supports post-exercise log data display, with which the user can see a detailed trajectory and analysis of various exercise indicators.
  • Smart device management: Provides Zepp smart device management settings, including notification management, dial changes and widget sorting.

What’s in the box?

The box contains the Zepp E Smartwartch, charging cable, spare strap and manual.

A Closer Look

Final Thoughts

There are two versions of the Zepp E Smartwatch – a circle version (which is the one we are reviewing) and a square version. Personally I prefer the look of the circle version.

The watch itself is a 42mm stainless steel watch that is 9mm thick and has a removable strap. Whilst the watch itself looks very stylish, the strap isn’t that great at all, it looks and feels quite flimsy and isn’t that comfortable to wear for extended periods. You can always replace the strap though if you wanted to. The watch can also be submerged in water up to 50m.

The screen itself on the watch is gorgeous – it’s very high quality and sharp and really is lovely to look at. Unless you are looking at it at night! There is no night mode available on the watch so it can be very bright if you look at it in the dark. Maybe an update in the future might be able to address this?

The watch pairs with your smartphone via an app. The pairing process is very simple and we didn’t have any issues. One thing you will notice though is that there are a lot less functions than on other similar devices, so make sure the function you need is available before you buy.

There is no built-in GPS function on the watch which is a little strange for a device of this price range, you need to use your smartphone to provide that function. For some this won’t be a problem but for others it might prove to be a pain!

The health features on the phone work great and are very accurate – the heart monitor was a feature I kept using throughout the testing.

Zepp say that you can get about a week’s battery life out of the smartwatch but we found that using it for normal functions along with a few of the features meant we had it closer to 5 days. We could probably stretch that out if we tweaked the settings and usage a little, but to be fair 5 days is really good! A full charge takes around 2 hours to complete.

There are other devices on the market for the same price or less that offer more features, that’s not to say this one should be overlooked, but it really does depend on what you need in your smartwatch.

The Zepp E Smartwatch is available now priced around £209.

You can learn more from the Zepp website.

  • Explore Europa: Jupiter’s frozen moon of Europa is a vast frozen frontier, full of adventure and mystery. Guardians will brave the unrelenting storms, infiltrate the Golden Age Braytech facility, and uncover the secrets that lie deep under the ancient ice.
  • Wield the Darkness: Stasis has come to Beyond Light. Rooted in Darkness, Stasis is the first new elemental power in Destiny since the original game. By wielding Stasis, players will be able to control the flow of battle using powerful abilities like freezing and shattering combatants.
  • The Rise of Eramis: The splintered houses of the Fallen have rallied and built their new empire on Europa, united under the banner of the Fallen Kell of Darkness, Eramis. Determined to restore glory to her people, Eramis has discovered Stasis as the means to achieve her aims.
  • Deep Stone Crypt Raid: Guardians will test their skill and teamwork in this brand new six-person raid, where glorious rewards await. The Deep Stone Crypt raid opens for Beyond Light owners on November 21 and Destiny fans will be eagerly anticipating the celebration of the first fireteam to complete the event.
