Review: Car Detailing Simulator

Car Detailing Simulator allows you the opportunity to clean and scrub to your heart’s content. Alongside this, you can sell restored cars, expand your workshop, and run a successful business. Furthermore, you must purchase every tool to become an expert in your field.

This simulation title was developed by Games Incubator and GameFormatic and published by Ultimate Games. Moreover, there is a distinct business management edge that must be considered. Accordingly, if you love the genre, there is plenty for you to get your teeth into.

Car Detailing Simulator tells a familiar story. 

You are a rookie worker with a rundown garage. Consequently, you must start at the bottom and work hard if you are to impress every client. Additionally, your tiny empire must be expanded if you wish to make some serious cash. Subsequently, hard work and dirty water stand between you and victory.

Unfortunately, the story in Car Detailing Simulator lacks any oomph or originality. However, it doesn’t matter as the game plods on regardless. What was nice, though, was the blend of tasks and the demanding customers. As such, you’ll work on some impressive vehicles as you rise to the top.

It’s all about the money and reputation. 

A business sim would be nothing without the usual caveats. Therefore, I was grateful to see some familiar obstacles and a simple reputation system. Thankfully, Car Detailing Simulator doesn’t complicate things and the action is easy to follow. Yet, once you get into the latter game, you must spin many plates to keep moving forward. 

Unfortunately, like many of its peers, there is a sense of grind and repetition. However, the Powerwash Simulator-style gameplay will appeal to that OCD switch in everyone’s brains. Consequently, it mattered not if you were cleaning and buffing, scrubbing tyres, repairing seats, or selling cars, this would keep you going.

Simulation games rarely look fantastic. However, Car Detailing Simulator proves that you can polish a turd. As such, though it is rough around the edges, I loved the attention to detail and the attractive lighting effects. Moreover, the cars looked interesting and there was enough variety to keep me coming back for more. 

The audio was pleasant and non-offensive. Yet, it was distinctly bland and that was unfortunate. Effectively, the music reminded me of a hotel lobby or an executive lift. As such, it did its job but it rarely blew me away.

Designed for PC. 

This port from PC should have been better considered. Disappointingly, the controls are clunky and messy. Moreover, the mapping is all over the place, making mastering the controls arduous. On top of this, the game is riddled with annoying bugs that confuse the matter whilst increasing frustration.

If you can ignore the clunky controls and the bugs, you’ll keep returning for more. The OCD nature of the action is genuinely interesting. Additionally, restoring revolting cars and making a profit is rewarding. As such, this has both replay value and longevity. 

Car Detailing Simulator will be a hit. 

Though it has its flaws, Car Detailing Simulator was enjoyable to play. I loved the variety of cars and the demanding nature of each task. What’s more, expanding your empire was challenging and fun. Accordingly, this delivers as promised and can be enjoyed casually or as a serious hobby. Therefore, I recommend that you buy it here! Can you start from the bottom and work your way up? Clean, polish, and scrub your way to success.

Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel board game is suspenseful, enjoyable, and well-considered. This simple idea is based on the popular TV show and it captures the essence of the action perfectly. Moreover, it can be enjoyed with 2 or 3 people or a large group of friends. Either way, it’ll test your knowledge and your friendships as you must work together to get to the end game.

What makes this board game ideal is the variety of questions on offer. As such, gamers as young as 8 can give it a go. Additionally, the list of categories means that everyone can show off their specialist subject. On top of this, I adored the wheel tool as it added a layer of jeopardy to proceedings.

How easy is it to play?

Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel board game relies on knowledge and a lot of luck if you wish to be victorious. As such, a game session can be over in a flash or it can last forever and a day. However, whichever one you experience, you’ll love every moment. You must split into 2 or 3 teams or work as 2 or 3 individual players. Once this is sorted out, you need to pick 7 categories from the 14 options. 

With the game set up, you must pick your opening category, plunge the wheel, and see where it lands. If the arrow hits a red area, you lose your turn and the game moves to the next team or player. Alternatively, if you land on a blue segment, you are asked a moderately hard question. However, if you land in the yellow area, you have the opportunity to answer an easy question.

If you get the answer right, you keep the card, select a new category and the action follows the same process. The winner is the team or person that answers all 7 categories correctly and then gets the end-game question correct. Accordingly, it is straightforward to understand and easy to master. Yet, with an element of luck and jeopardy, things can go wrong and this adds a delightful layer of spice to proceedings.

Is Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel board game worth it?

It mattered not if this was played with individuals or a large group of friends. Either way, I had a fantastic time that was competitive and amusing. Yet, there aren’t enough questions in each category to keep things fresh. Consequently, if you play this game enough, you’ll soon learn the answers and this removes a key gameplay element. Subsequently, Rascals would be wise to release a new set of questions to freshen things up.

This issue to one side, I loved the suspenseful nature of the action and how easy it was to play. Additionally, the wheel plunger system was fantastic and the suggestion to play the show music was a triumph. The Mr & Mrs Family Edition board game is the latest way to test your knowledge of those closest to you. However, be warned as when you get things wrong, the atmosphere becomes heated! Consequently, I suggest brushing up on your knowledge of your partner and friends to avoid embarrassment.

Whether you play this with your friends or your loved ones, you’ll laugh throughout. The excellent range of questions and the structure of the rounds take influence from the much-loved TV show. Moreover, with only 3 rounds to complete, each session never outstays its welcome. Accordingly, this is the perfect choice when you wish to keep the laughs going and the energy high.

Is it easy to play?

I like complicated board games. However, too many rules are off-putting. Thankfully, Mr & Mrs Family Edition is extremely easy to understand and even easier to play. The action comprises 3 rounds. Rounds 1 and 3 follow the same formula, whereas round 2 gets the arguments flowing. During rounds 1 and 3, 3 sets of questions are asked of each partner. If you get a correct answer, you earn a point and your score is increased. Though these rounds are enjoyable, the 2nd round is where you’ll laugh the most.

During the 2nd stage, players must test their knowledge and resolve of each other. Accordingly, some naughty questions will catch people out. Furthermore, it’ll highlight the modest side of each partnership, much to everyone else’s amusement. Thankfully, none of the questions are obscene or inappropriate. As such, you can enjoy this with gamers of all ages.

Is Mr & Mrs Family Edition worth it?

With Christmas around the corner, you’ll want a new board game to amuse the family. As such, Mr & Mrs Family Edition is worth considering. Not only is this game great with a large group of friends, but it can also be enjoyed with your partner or loved ones. Moreover, the manufacturer Rascals has considered questions for all age groups. Therefore, it is ideal for anyone aged 10 years or older.

Another great aspect of this board game is its short play time and how simple it is to understand. Additionally, like Monopoly, this gets your juices flowing. Therefore, you are bound to have the odd squabble and a bit of playful banter along the way. Accordingly, I loved my time with it and recommend buying it here!

Review: Skautfold: Usurper

Skautfold: Usurper redefines its genre. By combining a Souls-Like approach with an old-school Metroidvania experience you are pushed to your limits. Moreover, its retro aesthetic will appeal to older gamers. As such, if you can accept the brutality on offer, you’ll adore this interesting and challenging experience.

This unique blend of concepts was designed by Pugware and developed by Red Art Games. What’s more, it has a delightfully sinister story and an unlikely alliance to explore. On top of this, your foes are unforgiving and the bosses take patience and skill to defeat. Accordingly, this isn’t a game for the faint of heart.

Skautfold: Usurper is a brilliant sequel.

Skautfold: Usurper is a brilliant sequel that evolves the original mechanics. As such, if you loved Skautfold: Shrouded in Sanity, then you’ll fall for the ghastly charms of this title. Furthermore, the combination of action and RPG content creates a moreish and interesting experience. With death all but guaranteed, you must go into this with your eyes wide open. If not, you’ll rage quit repeatedly and curse more than a sailor.

London is in trouble as Eldritch horrors are unleashed onto the capital. Consequently, these evil forces must be stopped and a hero must step forward. Yet, it isn’t that simple as Waltham, the leader of the Weimar tries to usurp the leader of the Citadel. When his advances fail, he must steal a host body and begin his mission again.

Distinctly old-school.

Where Skautfold: Usurper shines is its distinctly old-school approach. The gameplay utilises a 2D side-scrolling style that combines obstacles, traps, monsters, and many mysteries. Furthermore, the combat is simple to understand but hard to master. As such, you’ll spend hours dodging projectiles and rolling past melee attacks. However, once you get to grips with this idea, you’ll cherish the new “Guard” system.

This fresh idea rewards gamers for their accuracy and patience. Additionally, the guard bar is intrinsically linked with your health. As such, if you wish to progress, you must perfect this mechanic. By rolling past your opponents or dodging their blows, you will refill the bar. In turn, this allows you to unleash hell on your opponents without risking your health or your progress.

Bonfires…I mean Thrones.

I mentioned the bemoaned phrase Souls-Like. Sadly, these days, every harsh game appears to have this tag. However, bear with me as I explain my madness. Skautfold: Usurper makes its action incredibly tough as every time you die, your progress is reset! Furthermore, you lose a percentage of your in-game currency to rub salt into the wound.

Alongside this, whenever you respawn, every monster is reborn and you return to the last resting point. Unlike other Souls-like endeavours, this one doesn’t use bonfires. No, instead, you must rest on a throne if you wish to save your game, replenish your health, or upgrade your character. Subsequently, though it isn’t a Souls title as such, it feels familiar and I’d be doing a disservice if I failed to mention it.

Mind your head.

Upgrades and weapons.

Metroidvania by name and Metroidvania by nature. Skautfold: Usurper demands that you unlock new skills and abilities to expand your horizons. However, this is nothing new and fans of the genre would expect nothing less. Yet, what I loved was the character upgrade system and the array of weapons on offer.

As you explore the world and kill every monster and boss, you are rewarded with in-game currency. If you make it to a throne without dying, you can spend this on the normal character attributes. Accordingly, you can design a brutish tank, a fast archer, or something in between. 

When you find new weapons, you must consider the monsters you will face, your character’s skills, and your play style. Alongside this, ranged weapons require ammo. As such, if you don’t want to search for arrows, I suggest that you nail every opponent with an axe or sword.

Skautfold: Usurper is grim and atmospheric.

London is renowned for its grimy underbelly. However, Skautfold: Usurper takes it to a whole new level! This sinister title is oppressive, dark, and uncomfortable to look at. Moreover, the varied backdrops, basic animation, and range of monsters will keep you coming back for more. 

A dark game requires a gothic and daunting soundtrack. Thankfully, this delivers thanks to its dramatic music and wonderful sound effects. I adored the crunching blows of my sword or the twang of my bow. Furthermore, the squelch of spikes piercing my skin was loud, horrific, and disgusting. Consequently, the developers got things just right.

What could you use that for?

Accurate controls.

If the controls were terrible, this would have been awful to play. Luckily, though, the accurate and responsive inputs complement the new guard system. What’s more, though it was challenging to explore every nook and cranny, the controls ensure that it keeps frustration and annoyance to a minimum.

With such a vast world to explore and plenty of monsters and bosses to kill, you’ll be kept busy throughout. On top of this, the Souls-like brutality and the amazing RPG concept keep you coming back for more. Subsequently, though it was a harsh game to play, it oozes replay value and longevity.

Skautfold: Usurper is amazingly grim.

This isn’t a game that’ll appeal to everyone. Understandably, its tough nature and old-school aesthetic will put many people off. However, if you can stomach this and you love a retro approach, then you’ll cherish everything this title offers. Accordingly, I loved its sadomasochistic ways and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you kill the leader of the Citadel? Learn new skills, avoid traps and obstacles, and overcome every error you make.
