By now, everyone knows the link between games and strategy and how some titles or board games can boost intelligence and critical thinking skills. Whether you prefer to play on a tabletop or online, there are plenty of ways to challenge yourself while challenging others. But everyone reaches a point when they can’t figure out their next move, especially when facing some of the trickiest players in the hobby. So, how can you sharpen your strategy skills to finally get over your hump?
Play Other Games
Playing other games allows you to explore different types of strategies and various approaches that lead you to victory. While you may have enjoyed the all-guns-blazing approach of many RPGs, other stealth-based games encourage patience and planning to ensure you complete missions.
On the physical front, games like chess or similar can remind you to think further ahead. Although you don’t know what your opponent will do next, you can plot your moves to influence the game and force them into making mistakes that lead you to victory.
Ask More Questions
If you’re new to any game, you won’t know the intricacies and nuances that define your strategy, which is why asking questions to more experienced players can be so beneficial. It’s not enough to simply see what they do. You need to ask them why they made this move or that play. Sometimes, these moves may not seem logical, especially if other options seem easier. Asking questions can help you identify the best times to strike or when to play defensive so you don’t leave your side of the board exposed.
Apply What You’ve Learned
You’re probably an expert at balancing gaming and studies to ensure you can keep up at school while still enjoying some crucial downtime. But did you know you could combine your studies with gaming and apply what you’ve learned to your next session?
Many games feature references to classical literature, history, or math, so looking for these clues can help you understand more about the game, which helps develop a better appreciation. Furthermore, the problem-solving skills you’ve obtained in your classes can be used in some games to help you get past those pesky levels that leave you stumped.
Understand Your Strengths
The best strategies play to your strengths while masking your weaknesses. Through this, you can make it easier to get the upper hand on opponents to push your way toward victory. Consider an RPG. If you aren’t great at aiming your weapon but feel comfortable being patient to sneak up on opponents, take this approach in your online play. As for board games, someone who recognizes patterns more easily than others needs to pay close attention to the board to identify these patterns and do everything they can to block opponents from making moves that could affect your chances of victory.
Have A Plan B
As much as you might trust your strategy and have seen it work hundreds of times, everyone needs a plan B. There will always be another player who brings chaos or a strategy you don’t know how to deal with, so having a backup plan can help you prevent defeat and even pull a victory out of nowhere.
Of course, you may not know you need to use plan B initially, but it’s worth keeping it in mind whenever you go into tournaments or online lobbies.
Watch Others Play
Many people enjoy following Twitch streamers for their chats and their personalities, but these influencers can also help you improve your skills and strategy. They could highlight different tips and techniques that you had never thought of which you can then work on to improve your skills when playing. Similarly, you can find hundreds of strategy guides on YouTube for various games that give you different plays to try.
Get Feedback From Peers
Playing with friends or strangers both online and in person provides the fun social aspect of games. But besides a little friendly competition, you can also take the opportunity to get feedback, especially if you’re against more experienced players. Since they have done everything and gone through the same learning curve you’re experiencing now, they can offer valuable advice to help sharpen your skills and become a better all-around player.
Strategizing
Improving your strategy skills can help you in various aspects of your life. It can boost your performance while playing games online or with friends and family but could also enhance your approach to exercise, your career, or your life to sharpen your skills and look at life a little differently.

As such, if you want an interesting product that will last the test of time, I recommend picking one of these items.
The Shore is a Lovecraftian adventure with a wonderful artistic approach. However, a lack of substance and story hold it back from truly excelling. If this wasn’t bad enough, the short playtime and ill-considered gameplay mechanics give it a sense of failed opportunities. Yet, if you want a straightforward fantasy experience that looks fantastic, then this will pique your interest.
This walking simulation title was developed by Ares Dragonis and published by Dragonis Games. Moreover, it has a horror edge as you are chased by alien beings. This bizarre blend of ideas could have been fantastic. Unfortunately, though, it is too punctuated and bitty to deliver a seamless and enjoyable experience. Consequently, the action is frustrating and the once beautiful scenery becomes an unnecessary obstacle that generates frustration and anger.
The Shore tells a familiar tale in a cruel environment.
The story of a father’s love for his child is as old as the hills. No matter how many times you read about it, see it, or hear it, it always pulls at your heartstrings. Yet, placing this story in a Lovecraftian setting is somewhat cruel and perhaps a little unnecessary. Strangely, though, it works particularly well and I enjoyed this odd but captivating plot.
You play the part of Andrew. His daughter is missing, and he is determined to find her before it is too late. This harsh endeavour plays tricks on his mind and pushes his sanity to breaking point. As such, this is where the fantasy element comes into play. Additionally, the developer uses their creative licence to push the scenario beyond its normal limitations. Now, I’d normally scoff at such an unbelievable idea, but I was impressed with the absurdity of the situation and the excellent and overbearing world.
A game of 2 or maybe 3 parts.
I understand that a game may twist its core mechanics to keep its audience on edge. Strangely, though, The Shore effectively utilises 3 distinct approaches to deliver its story. This unusual idea doesn’t work and, instead of creating a sense of drama and energy, it delivers an underwhelming and confusing finished product. Additionally, it dumps each idea as it pushes to its horror-filled finale.
The opening chapter follows standard walking simulation tropes. Moreover, it blends in the odd sci-fi moment to maintain the fantasy edge. This was particularly enjoyable as it wasn’t outrageous, nor was it badly conceived. However, things soon take a turn for the worse as you learn to jump, only never to need the skill again. After this, there is a strange combat mechanic that blends running and shooting into one mishmash idea.
This faux-horror experience intends to generate fear and despair. Yet, the result is a clumsy race between human and alien. Moreover, the weapon is underpowered, and you never know whether you will kill your opponent or stun it. Subsequently, it is messy, disappointing, and feels like an afterthought.
The Shore looks amazing.
The Shore didn’t float my boat! However, visually, it is spectacular. The use of gargantuan alien beings and the incredibly sinister and strange environment are phenomenal. Additionally, when the exploration elements worked, it was fascinating to dive into such an unusual gaming arena. On top of this, the first-person perspective creates an immersive world that generates a sense of suspense and danger.
This is supported by the excellent soundtrack and the decent voice acting of the protagonist. The sound effects were equally impressive, even if some of the other sound bites were underwhelming and disappointing.
Trapped by a pebble or blocked by an invisible wall.
Navigating the alien environment wasn’t the easiest of tasks. Disappointingly, you’ll get stuck on pebbles and rocks. Alternatively, invisible walls would funnel you to your next port of call. This was particularly annoying once you learnt how to jump. I expected the world to become more open and vast. However, your progress is blocked by each invisible wall of doom. This was unfortunate as the world became a chore to explore.
Though it is punctuated by issues and shortcomings, The Shore is a short experience. You can complete this in around 3–4 hours even if you attempt to search every nook and cranny. To make matters worse, there is no reason to return and this undermines both replay value and longevity.
The Shore didn’t impress me.
As an artistic concept, The Shore excels! Its world and the depiction of a Lovecraftian theme are spectacular. Furthermore, when the audio works, it helps to create an immersive world that is great to be part of. Yet, there are so many shortcomings and issues that it ruins every positive element. Accordingly, I cannot recommend buying it. However, more information can be found here! Will you explore the strange world to save your daughter? Search your surroundings, uncover each mystery, and complete your journey.
Based on the 1964 Polish novel of the same name, The Invincible is a tour-de-force of adventure storytelling. In the game, you play as Yasna, a survivor who wakes up on a mysterious planet with little to no recollection of how you ended up there. What then transpires is nothing short of magic as you get sucked into this mystery and embark on a journey of an alien world.
Gameplay
What Starward Industries has done with The Invincible is nothing short of incredible. At its heart, the story-driven adventure is centred around solving puzzles and exploring. It is the narrative that really drives you through, as it’s a big, empty, albeit linear experience. You get very little in terms of UI and even less support with finding your objective. Combined, this makes for some frustrating (but brilliant) exploration. You feel like you are embodying Yasna due to the first-person perspective, exploring the world and trying to uncover just what happened to you.
This won’t be a game for everyone. However, it doesn’t feature combat and can feel slow in places if you like a little more action in your narrative-driven games. That isn’t to say it’s boring; I was hooked for hours without even realising how much time had passed. This is a slow burn, but it pays off. The cinematics are done in a comic-book style, which provides a little context to what is going on but could give a little more contextual background without being a data dump. I didn’t really mind the lack of details; I was playing a character with full-blown amnesia, and this added to that realism. As you progress, you will get a little backstory in the form of flashback memories.
I would have liked the game to provide more of an open-world experience so I could truly explore, but the linear path is big enough that you can still get lost and struggle to find the way to go. While some may find this frustrating, others will enjoy the challenge. Where the sense of realism and immersion is broken, however, also lies with this linear path. In one area, the rocks, for example, can be climbed, but the same patch of rocks just next to it cannot be. This is frustrating. However you look at it, it’s inconsistent.
Movement and Puzzles in The Invincible
Movement in The Invincible can also feel a little slow; move too quickly for too long, and Yasna will get fatigued, meaning you’ll be doing a lot of slow walking, even if you know where you’re headed. I would have liked slightly more endurance to make the running last a little longer for gameplay’s sake, even if it breaks the realism of the concept of exhaustion.
The puzzles and challenges along the way are fun and engaging, albeit not overly difficult – tuning a radio is as simple as turning a knob, for example. But, in a game driven by its story, I think these moments work just fine to keep the pace.
Visuals and music in The Invincible
Everything about The Invincible is masterfully created with more care and attention than I’ve seen in a game for a long time. From the beautiful landscapes of the alien world to the people and robots you find along the way. Even the fauna has been meticulously created here. I think the most impressive is how lived-in and real everything in this sci-fi setting feels. Because you play in first-person, you see the chips of paint on your equipment. You see the cracks and dirt of your spacesuit helmet. It’s rare a game outside of the VR space transports you so completely into the world it creates, but The Invincible manages it.
The overall aesthetic can be described as retro-futurism, a sort of NASA-punk vibe. It has all the charm of classic sci-fi movies from the fifties.
This immersion only increases with the atmospheric and beautiful score by Brunon Lubas and is further developed with brilliant voice acting and accompanying sounds. Devices beep, winds howl, and the more you delve deeper into this alien world, the more you feel like you are genuinely exploring it.
Final Thoughts on The Invincible
If you’re after something a little slower, something that will grip you and take you on an exploration and story-based adventure, then The Invincible is for you. It’s a wonderful example of science fiction done right, and although some aspects of a novel don’t necessarily translate to a game, The Invincible is a wonderfully gripping experience. I love the retro-futurism aesthetic and how you get drawn into this story and root for Yasna finding out exactly what happened.
So, to really test out the capabilities of the Lenovo Legion Go, I decided to use it as my computer for everything for two weeks. I was expecting compromises – problems I would have to live with, but none of that came true. Not only is it a fantastic handheld for gaming, but it’s also a competent Windows 11 device. In fact, it’s so competent I don’t think I need a laptop anymore.
What is the Lenovo Legion Go?
The Lenovo Legion Go is primarily aimed at gamers and is a handheld device that will let you play your PC games on the go. Whether that’s from a specific store or using something like Game Pass from Xbox. It resembles devices like the Steam Deck and the Asus Rog Ally.
Like the Rog Ally, the Legion Go runs on Windows 11, which means you get a full PC environment alongside specialist Lenovo software (Legion Space) to manage gaming.
Build quality
In the hand the Lenovo Legion Go feels sturdy, in fact after a while it feels heavy which is probably my only complaint. However, the build quality is very good, and nothing feels fragile. This is particularly good because the Legion Go has an in-built kickstand that, like the Nintendo Switch OLED, spans the full length of the bottom edge. Unfortunately, when you’re using this, you do lose access to one of the USB-C ports (unless you happen to have a cable with a 90-degree connector), but that’s to be expected.
The controllers feel good in the hand, and I particularly like the large size and ergonomic-like grip. It’s one of the most comfortable handhelds I’ve used, even though it’s big and heavy. Although the controllers can be detached, they don’t feel flimsy when connected and don’t wobble, which is appreciated. Overall, it feels premium, and at the price, it’s what I expect.
Screen quality
The Lenovo Legion Go has possibly one of the best screens I’ve ever experienced on a handheld device. It’s got a massive 8.8″ QHD+ IPS panel with an astonishing 2560×1600 resolution. This screen provides crispness, brightness (500 nits), and vibrantness. It’s everything you would want for gaming on the go and productivity. I wish it were a little brighter in direct sunlight, but this is a small complaint. With the 144-Hz refresh rate, everything feels smooth.
Audio quality
Unfortunately, the quality of the speakers is where the Lenovo Legion Go falls down. It’s pretty quiet unless you really turn the volume up to max, and even then, it’s lacking. It feels tinny, and it definitely lacks bass. Thankfully, for the kind of device this is, the chances of actually ever using these speakers are small to none. Let’s face it, you will use a wired or Bluetooth headset, and your ears will thank you for it.
Is the Lenovo Legion Go better than Steam Deck and Rog Ally?
Steam recently launched the OLED version of the Steam Deck, and while I haven’t gotten hands-on with that yet, from the spec sheet, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to outperform the Legion Go in any category, apart from maybe battery life.
But it’s unfair. The Steam Deck is a simple device by comparison; it’s a handheld device designed to work with Steam and Steam alone. While the software and experience are great, and you certainly won’t be disappointed, I can’t help but think the Legion Go has a more universal application due to running a full version of Windows 11.
That then means its competition is the Rog Ally, and the competition is close. Performance-wise, I don’t think there’s much in it. The Legion Go has a bigger and higher resolution screen and gives better performance at high wattages, not to mention you can detach the controllers to allow for a range of playstyles. The Rog Ally, however, is smaller and lighter and performs better at lower wattages. You can read a full review of the Rog Ally by Dan here, but for me – the Legion Go just ever so slightly takes the win.
Gaming Performance
Xbox Game Pass works as well as it does on any device that supports it. The big, bright, high-quality screen of the Legion Go really helps elevate gaming on the go. I tested a number of games using cloud play, and all ran smoothly and looked great. The controllers felt like using an Xbox controller, albeit with many extra mappable buttons you can take advantage of.
When really pushing the device in terms of the games I was playing, the Legion Go managed around an hour and a half to two hours of battery life before needing to be charged. This isn’t uncommon for devices like this, but I wish it lasted longer for those extended gameplay sessions. While keeping the device tethered to power feels a little disjointed, it thankfully can be hooked up to a sufficiently beefy power pack so it can still be used while away from a socket.
Being a Windows device, the Legion Go can easily access all your gaming libraries, whether Steam, Epic or GOG. Even when running in performance mode, don’t expect the Legion Go to be able to play all the latest titles at the highest specifications. While in performance mode the Legion Go dominates the competition in terms of capability, when it’s running on battery alone, it will perform at a lower standard than the Rog Ally. It isn’t, however, bad by any stretch of the imagination. In any configuration, I’ve been able to play games like Starfield just fine and have only needed to tweak the in-game settings to suit the Legion Go. Because of the small size compared to the screen’s pixel count, even at low settings, I was impressed with how good things look.
Can the Legion Go be used as a laptop?
So, my review of the Legion Go perfectly coincided with a trip away from home, away from my powerhouse of a desktop PC. Instead of reaching for the laptop, I wanted to really put this astonishing handheld through its paces. Could it provide me with a console-like experience playing stuff from my Steam library and let me get all my work done?
In short, yes. I’ve been able to write, use Photoshop, browse the web and even screen record and deposit the file in a DropBox account. In fact, this very review has been written on the Legion Go. It’s pretty incredible to me how good this device is at being a productivity device when you think it’s designed for gamers. I will say if you’re going to use it for productivity, make sure to bring a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard. While this is personal preference, I’m not the biggest fan of the joystick-like one you can assemble using the right controller.
Console layout and connectivity
The Legion Go has all the connectivity you would want. It features two USB-C 4.0 ports (both with DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0), which makes connecting to a dock, monitor or just a power supply easy. This makes it great to hook it up to a larger display or keep the battery topped up during long gameplay sessions. The fact that there’s a port on top and bottom means you’ll always have one available even when your arms are tired and you’re using the stand.
Also, along the top, you have a 3.5mm headphone jack. While the Legion Go comes with Bluetooth, a lot of gamers prefer the wired connection to prevent any chance of lag with their audio. The fact we’re seeing one on a high-end gaming device from 2023 is extremely welcome. The port also supports a mic to talk to your teammates without compromise.
The last port on the top is a MicroSD card reader, which supports up to 2TB of additional storage.
Finally, the Legion Go comes with Wifi 6E and, as mentioned above, Bluetooth. The latter allows for connecting periphery accessories, like a keyboard and mouse.
The basic design language of the Legion Go is best described as a large tablet with Nintendo Switch-style controllers that clip in. That’s where the similarities end, however. The controllers are big and grippy, which reduces fatigue and strain on the hand. The layout is more akin to an Xbox controller with a bunch of extra buttons and a really nice trackpad. That isn’t everything, however!
You see, the Legion Go has a bit of a party trick. While detachable controllers aren’t new, one of them can magnetically attach to a provided disk and become a hybrid joystick/mouse. It’s brilliant. It works. Primarily designed for FPS players, but if you don’t have a Bluetooth mouse handy, it will work. As an on-the-go tool to control Windows 11, it’s a great feature from Lenovo.

Final thoughts on the Lenovo Legion Go
The moment I switched on the Legion Go and started checking out all it had to offer, I knew I loved this device. It allowed me to play my Steam library, MMOs and Game Pass on the go, but because it was Windows-based, it meant I could also hook up a keyboard and mouse and still get work done. This made it an attractive alternative to a far more expensive gaming laptop. It’s well built, works well and honestly? I like it so much. It’s now the first piece of tech I pack when I go on a trip.
Inkulinati is a sort of Monty Python-esque experience that sticks in my mind. However, the silly shenanigans are a smoke screen that hides a strategic core. Accordingly, you may laugh at the childish humour, but you must have a logical mindset and the heart of a lion if you wish to succeed. This strange blend of silliness and mature gameplay creates a balanced approach that rarely outstays its welcome. If you then consider that it is included as part of the Game Pass subscription service, you have nothing to lose by giving it a try.
This strategy title was developed by Yaza Games and published by Daedalic Entertainment. Moreover, it has a medieval edge and a hand-drawn aesthetic. As such, there is a wonderfully dated feel to everything you see and this works perfectly with the slow-paced action. On top of this, there is a delightful sense of tactical analysis that works your little grey cells. Subsequently, though you will chuckle throughout, you must consider plenty of options if you wish to succeed.
Inkulinati makes you raise an eyebrow.
Though the core mechanics are reasonably easy to understand, the learning curve is somewhat challenging. Accordingly, you’ll scowl and raise an eyebrow as you learn the fundamentals. Yet, once you understand what is asked of you, you’ll have a fantastic time mastering each finer point.
Inkulinati takes influence from real-life medieval Marginalia. As such, the developers have a heavy dose of creative licence at their disposal. The result is a stupidly bizarre thought process and some weird and wonderful moments. Consequently, each character and the protagonist resemble something you’d witness in a Monty Python sketch.
A fantastic single-player campaign.
Much of the action focuses on the single-player campaign. Here you must lead your tiny-Inkulinati leader as you tackle an array of enemies through a medieval world. En route, you will encounter events and various battlegrounds. However, the core concept remains familiar, and you must use your skills and the strengths of your hero to complete every battle.
The gameplay is relatively simple. Each hero is given a pot of ink to use. They must use this resource to draw an army of odd creatures to tackle their foes. Accordingly, you must decide if you wish to use melee creatures, long-ranged animals, or a defensive unit. Either way, you need to position them to maximise your tactical prowess and defeat each antagonist.
Victory is achieved if you can kill the opposition leader. However, you must be aware of your positioning as an ill-considered approach can undermine your position. Furthermore, apocalyptic fire can engulf you, or you can be pushed off the edge of the board. As such, victory isn’t always assured and remaining vigilant is a must if you wish to succeed.
Butts and trumpets.
Though the gameplay is relatively straightforward, it is the silliness of each unit that makes this shine. Who’d have thought that a rabbit’s butt could overpower a sword-wielding dog? Alternatively, an ass playing a trumpet may be your trump card. Either way, you must draw your army and master your tactics if you wish to get the most from Inkulinati.
On top of this, your tiny leader has powers and skills of their own. Consequently, you can risk it all and push your leader to the fore. Alternatively, you can sit back and allow your minions to work for you. Whatever you choose, you must consider the strengths of your army and maximise their potential.
Inkulinati looks fantastic.
I adore a hand-drawn aesthetic. As such, Inkulinati was right up my street. If you then chuck in the bizarre nature of each medieval image, you get a memorable experience that holds your attention. Though each battlefield is relatively simple, there is enough variety to keep things interesting. Moreover, there are layers of tactical nuance that enhance the gameplay further. Accordingly, though I wanted the arenas to be more complex, I believe that this will happen as the game is developed.
The audio was cruel but highly amusing. The blend of ye olde folksy music and OTT sound effects works perfectly. Whether you are shooting arrows, throwing spears, or slashing your sword, the noises are uncomfortable. Alongside this, the scream of every doomed creature is unnervingly amusing. Consequently, you will chuckle at the most inopportune moments.
Excellent controls.
This can be a complex and unfriendly game to play. However, the excellent controls, responsive inputs, and detailed tutorials make it a user-friendly experience. Furthermore, the clean UI helps to keep you on top of the action.
Though this is in Early Access, it has plenty of depth and replay value. Moreover, the developers have promised to add loads of content as the game evolves. Therefore, there is scope for a deep and rich title that has ample longevity and loads of reasons to return.
Inkulinati is an amusing and enjoyable experience.
Strategy games aren’t renowned for their light-hearted or amusing nature. Accordingly, Inkulinati is a refreshing change from the norm. If you then consider the vast potential on offer, this could be a cult classic. Additionally, I love the fact that it is included as part of the Game Pass subscription service. Consequently, I adore this game and I recommend buying it here! Can you rule the roost and defeat everything in your path? Draw your army, pick your tactics, and win every battle.
Airhead is one of those games that just clicks. Its delightfully simple story and straightforward mechanics make you smile. Moreover, its grim but oddly beautiful aesthetic is stupidly captivating. As such, if you love Limbo, you will fall for this strange but fascinating endeavour.
This Metroidvania experience was developed by Octato and published by HandyGames. Additionally, in typical genre fashion, this utilises drip-fed mechanics and has some cruel puzzles to complete. Therefore, it isn’t a walk in the park, and it will test your logical mindset and patience. Yet, if you can overcome each hurdle that you face, you’ll adore the bizarre interconnected worlds and the even stranger creatures that lie within.
Airhead is deliberately vague.
I’m a gamer who loves a deep and interesting story. Whenever I undertake a game that lacks a decent plot, I normally turn my nose up. However, the deliberately vague nature of Airhead was endearing. This strangely loose story and a distinct lack of direction could become frustrating. Yet, I loved the freedom and often challenging obstacles that you face.
You control a humanoid called Body. This headless entity attempts to explore the never-ending maze of tunnels. However, some chasms and obstacles prevent him from progressing. Thankfully, though, he stumbles across a strange creature known as Head. This inflatable being must be used to traverse each claustrophobic area. But there is a problem. If you run out of air, the pair die, and you must respawn from the nearest checkpoint. Accordingly, you must plan your journey and complete every puzzle before your oxygen runs out.
Brilliant puzzles.
The core gameplay loop was marvellous to experience. With cylinders of oxygen to consume and helium to swallow, the pair must work together to navigate each tight space. On top of this, the environment must be manipulated to open new paths and solve each intricate puzzle. Alongside this, you can upgrade the protagonists to inhale more gas to float to unreachable platforms or crash through stubborn platforms.
This basic approach was fantastic as it lacked the complexity of some of its peers. Moreover, Airhead utilises some staple genre moves such as double jumps, air dashing and the opportunity to light up a darkened area. These simple tools may seem underwhelming, but they do a great job of expanding the excellent world. Furthermore, the straightforward ideas ensure that this is perfect for newbies and veterans alike.
Understanding each creature.
Devouring a lung full of gas and altering the landscape was fantastic. Additionally, the pressure of completing each puzzle before you run out of gas was challenging and rewarding. However, I adored the strange creatures that reside in this alien world. Each of these animals must be studied to progress. Moreover, you will need to be mindful of the annoying bug that loves to snatch your new friend Head.
Though the animals may be a pain in the arse, it was amazing to understand how each one could solve every problem you faced. Consequently, there is a little trial and error, but once you understand what is asked of you, the effort is extremely rewarding.
Airhead looks incredible.
Airhead is wonderfully simple to look at. Yet, like Limbo, the creepy environment is perfectly lit and brilliantly sinister. Additionally, once you get past the opening moments, the world turns into something to behold. The complexity of each puzzle and the variety of creatures keep you on your toes. On top of this, the madness of the ever-changing environment will keep you hooked and make you smile.
The atmospheric audio was phenomenal. The ambient sound was eerie and uncomfortable, but absolutely incredible. Moreover, the excellent sound effects enhance the alien nature of the protagonists. Accordingly, though it was odd, I loved every minute.
Straightforward controls.
Though there is plenty to learn, the control system was fantastic. Even when you were panicking, you could rely on the responsive inputs and easy-to-understand layout. However, the sense of urgency is somewhat off-putting and this can make you fail the simplest of puzzles. Consequently, you must stay calm and remain focused as you delve into the strange alien world.
In typical Metroidvania fashion, there are secrets to discover and a vast world to enjoy. Subsequently, this will keep you playing as you try and explore every nook and cranny. Airhead is a great indie experience.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Airhead will get the reception that it deserves. This captivating game is simple, beautiful, and a joy to experience. Moreover, the puzzles are intriguing, intelligent, and approachable. As such, this is a great indie experience that shouldn’t be missed. Accordingly, I recommend buying it here! Body is useless without a Head! As such, find your friend, keep on top of your air, and solve every problem.

GENIE Reprise proves that a walking simulator can be a captivating experience. This fantasy title is slow and linear. However, the stunning surroundings and intense story keep you returning for more. Additionally, the game twists and turns as you explore 15 unique chapters of a strange but beautiful tale.
This walking simulation game was developed by Tonguc Bodur and published by Eastasiasoft Limited. What’s more, in typical Bodur fashion, it has oppressive statues and plenty of hidden meanings. Moreover, it is wonderfully relaxing as everything unfolds at a gentle pace.
GENIE Reprise proves that Bodur is back in form.
My last Bodur review was The Redress of Mira. This game disappointed me as it fell short on many key elements. Thankfully, though, GENIE Reprise proves that Bodur is back in form! The incredible soundtrack, visuals, and story will pique your interest. Furthermore, the relaxing pace and simple-to-understand approach ensure you focus on the story and little else.
The plot revolves around Lula and her journey through a fantasy world. As she explores each location, she collects shards of a broken crystal. Once every fragment is collected, a new verse of the Genie’s poem is discovered. Moreover, as the poem is told, the surrounding world evolves. Consequently, you experience some surreal but stunning locations.
Straightforward mechanics.
If you want a complex game that tests your grey matter, this won’t be for you. Yet, if you wish to be drawn into a bizarre but striking, slow-paced world, then GENIE Reprise will be right up your street. Every chapter is set in a tiny gaming arena. Additionally, each world takes on a new form. This simple but intelligent move ensures that you never tire of the straightforward mechanics.
As you walk around each stage, you must look for each fragment of the crystal. Luckily, this is easy as a beam highlights their location. Once you have gathered each piece, a portal spawns, and you listen to a snippet of the Genie’s poem. This gameplay loop forms the backbone of the gameplay and the action rarely breaks this pattern.
Though this could be seen as repetitive, I loved the straightforward approach. Additionally, it allowed me to take in the breathtaking scenery while digesting every element of the interesting tale.
GENIE Reprise looks amazing.
GENIE Reprise doesn’t focus on realism. Subsequently, it lacks a modern finish. However, this matters not as the fantasy edge was amazing to look at. Furthermore, Bodur has the freedom to incorporate his signature statues. Moreover, the plot can twist and turn without justification. Accordingly, you are taken on a weird but wonderful adventure.
The audio is where this excels. The beautiful ambient sounds and relaxing soundtrack are divine. On top of this, the voice-over work sets the scene and every segment of the poem is a treat.
Simple controls.
In typical genre fashion, GENIE Reprise is easy to play. Yes, there are some minor puzzles to overcome, and the environment can be tough to navigate, but the controls never let you down. You can’t go wrong with a basic control layout and responsive inputs.
Where this is lacking is replay value and longevity. Disappointingly, there are no hidden gems to discover en route. Moreover, there isn’t a reason to return once you finish this title. Thankfully, though, the first playthrough was so good that I didn’t mind.
GENIE Reprise is a great indie game.
Finding an inexpensive and captivating indie game is hard work. Yet, GENIE Reprise ticks both of these boxes. This lush walking simulation title looks great and sounds even better. Furthermore, it is relaxing, bizarre, and a joy to play. Accordingly, I recommend buying it here! Can you piece together the Genie’s poem? Explore the world, listen to the words, and enjoy the surreal journey.

The M808W Gaming Case from SaharaGaming thoroughly impressed me. This stunning, compact beast proves that you can house a mighty PC in the smallest of cages. Furthermore, it is available at a budget-friendly price. As such, you can create a head-turning machine without breaking the bank. Moreover, it comes with 4 striking modular fans pre-installed. Accordingly, you can reinvest the money you save to buy bigger and better hardware.
On top of this, it is exceptionally well-built, and the borderless tempered glass is a thing of beauty. Additionally, 99% of the design is well-considered, except for the black power cabling. This is a minor issue, but it is something that will irk OCD gamers. Thankfully, though, once your system is built, you will not see this unfortunate shortcoming. However, that issue to one side, this case will house the mightiest of modern GPUs. Therefore, there is no need to worry about modding the case or changing your components. Consequently, the M808W Gaming Case will tick many boxes.
What’s in the box of the M808W Gaming Case?
The discreet packaging won’t blow your mind. However, I appreciated that it is recyclable and the understated finish juxtaposes the vibrant nature of its contents.
The M808W Gaming Case is spectacular to look at! This case is built with airflow in mind. Thanks to the all-round exhaust points, you know that your high-end components will be able to breathe. Alongside this, the tempered glass is clean, clear, and wonderful to look at.
Technical aspects.
Building a custom PC can be a nerve-wracking experience. You may not know if components fit, or you may be worried about ventilation, mounting points, or cable management. Luckily, the M808W Gaming Case has each of these elements covered. The SaharaGaming website highlights every limitation possible when it comes to your components. Moreover, there are a ridiculous number of mounting points and gaps to run your power cables.
Alongside this, there is room for up to 2-3.5″ HDDs or 3-2.5″ SSDs. Subsequently, you will not need to worry about mounting each of your storage devices. Furthermore, your motherboard and PSU are conveniently placed towards the middle and rear of the case. As such, this looks pleasant to the eye whilst leaving plenty of room for other more aesthetically pleasing components.
Thanks to the massive 410mm GPU space, you will have ample room for a 4090 card if you so wish. On top of this, there are 5 expansion ports available to the rear. As this case is compatible with micro ATX or ITX mobos, you lose 2 expansion ports. However, this was never an inconvenience and I appreciated the compact but oddly spacious design.
Plenty of room for radiators.
I was blown away by the included 7-fin 120mm modular fans. The 3 bottom-mounted and rear-mounted ARGB fans are relatively heavy but fantastic to look at. Additionally, the case has a pre-installed ARGB hub. This compact unit can be mounted anywhere in the rear compartment and comes with 4 useful connectors. First, there are 2 4-pin fan connectors. Second, there are 2 5V RGB headers and a SATA power cable to keep things up to date.
You can run your system with just the included fans. However, if you are like me, you will want to maximise your cooling potential. Consequently, you can run an AIO cooler and up to 1x360mm radiator. Alternatively, you can include up to a 280mm side radiator that can be daisy-chained with the installed bottom and rear-mounted fans. There is room for a water-cooled unit as well if that is your preferred method. As such, there is plenty of room for different cooling methods depending on your style and your budget.
If you wish, you can order extra fans from SaharaGaming. I recommend clicking here to see the options available. However, if you want to mix and match, you can use a Corsair H150 RGB AIO cooler and third-party software to make everything sync. (Other coolers and fan combinations are available).
Usability.
The gaming PC case market is a competitive place. Not only do you need a case to look amazing, but more importantly, it has to be easy to use. Thankfully, the M808W Gaming Case is unbelievably user-friendly. There is ample room and ports for all of your cabling needs. Additionally, there are 2 magnetic dust covers to keep your dust-attracting components safe. On top of this, I was impressed by the mounting points and how easy this case was to take apart and put together.
The mounting for the mobo is impressive as there is ample room above and below to access every element. Moreover, you needn’t worry about access to your PSU or storage components. Furthermore, I found it easy to attach a range of fans or radiators to each mounting point. Accordingly, you can play around with your setup without worrying about running out of room or an unsightly finish.
Build quality.
The M808W Gaming Case is a premium device that doesn’t shy away. This striking white case has 2 tempered glass windows with a borderless connection. Additionally, it has silver and chrome accents and a tidy control panel integrated into the top panel. There are plenty of colour-matched hexagonal vent ports and a rear aluminium panel with circular vent ports. The top and bottom vents have a white magnetic dust cover that is both useful and attractive.
The tempered glass windows are clear and this helps enhance the light from the infinity mirrored RGB fans. Moreover, the borderless approach creates a seamless finish that looks great to the eye. The aforementioned control panel has a power button, reset button, LED controls, 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, and a microphone and headphone port. Disappointingly, there is no USB-C port and this may be a deciding factor for many gamers. Luckily, though, many monitors include this port, so it may not be as big a deal as I’m making out.
Is the M808W Gaming Case worth it?
The gaming case marketplace is saturated. Subsequently, it can be tough to choose the right one for your build. Thankfully, the M808W Gaming Case stands out from the crowd! Not only does it look fantastic, but it is affordable, and it has pre-installed fans and an ARGB hub included in the price. Consequently, if you want a compact Micro ATX or ITX-compatible case that is easy to use and wonderful to look at, then this is the one for you. Accordingly, I love this case and I recommend buying it here!

(Full disclosure! SaharaGaming provided a sample for this review.)
Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express is a fantastic multi-faceted title that will capture your imagination. Moreover, it is a wonderfully up-to-date game that teases and tests you throughout. As such, if you love a puzzling experience or a whodunnit murder mystery, this will be right up your street.
This detective adventure title was published and developed by Microids. Additionally, it has a well-written script, some gloriously obnoxious characters, and a delightful layer of camp charm. Accordingly, if you adore the genre, you will admire every chapter on offer. What’s more, it captures the brilliance of both the films and the novels. Consequently, this rarely misses the mark.
Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express tells a classic tale.
It doesn’t get much more traditional than an Agatha Christie novel. As such, it would have been disappointing had the developers got things horribly wrong. However, the wonderfully camp and often ostentatious Hercule Poirot was a joy to watch. This remarkable detective loves to get his “beak” into everyone’s business. Yet, I can understand why, as he rarely gets things wrong. However, when things go awry on a train in the middle of nowhere, his skills are put to the test.
The story revolves around the comings and goings of a group of strangers on the world-famous train. A relaxing journey takes a turn for the worse as a wealthy and influential man is murdered. This heinous crime is bad enough, but the criminal remains on board the train. Consequently, Poirot must work fast and decipher every clue if he is to solve this tough murder investigation.
Straightforward but fascinating mechanics.
In typical detective fashion, Poirot is armed with a notepad and a mind map. The latter option helps him piece together every item of evidence. Furthermore, it helps you to keep track of each task at hand. This was a phenomenal choice as it removes trial and error and unnecessary back and forth.
In its place, you enjoy a swathe of upbeat and detailed cinematic. Alternatively, you must observe your fellow passengers to understand their personalities. Each of these elements is essential as they help you to put together any conclusions. On top of this, you will have to interrogate suspects. Subsequently, the more details you know about each individual, the better your chances are.
My biggest gripe with the core mechanics is there is virtually no way to fail any portion of the game. The only exception to this rule is the logic-based puzzles. Accordingly, if you weren’t paying attention, you could simply guess your way to victory and that was disappointing.
More bang for your buck.
Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express doesn’t just deliver one detective. No, you get more bang for your buck as a second investigation must be completed. I enjoyed this surprise inclusion and the additional workload it created.
Joanna Locke is a private detective who has a keen investigative mindset. However, a tough case in the United States can only be solved through a range of interesting flashbacks. This approach moved away from the modern linear style of the main game. Additionally, it added a sinister, gritty edge that Poirot lacked.
Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express has some odd graphical moments.
The developers have done a fantastic job with the setting and the animation. However, Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express has odd hilarious moments. The lip-syncing is occasionally awful and some of the character models are just laughable. Yet, these moments don’t detract from an otherwise well-polished and eye-catching experience.
Much of the action relies on dialogue and realistic ambient sounds. As such, I was impressed by the limited but suitable music. Each short track set the tone whilst adding drama and energy. Alongside this, the acting was fantastic and each protagonist and bit-part player helped to deliver a fascinating and captivating story.
Occasionally awkward controls.
Though much of the action focuses on a point-and-click design, it was occasionally awkward to play. Whenever you moved too close to a selectable object, you were unable to input any action. As such, you waste time moving back and forth to identify the right hitbox. Yet, when things worked, it was fantastic to play.
Though the plot is linear, there is plenty of replay value and longevity. If you are a perfectionist, you’ll adore the challenging achievement list. Furthermore, though the observation games are easy, you may struggle to perfect every logical challenge. Subsequently, this will test your grey cells and your patience.
Agatha Christie – Murder on the Orient Express is fantastic.
I loved this rendition of an Agatha Christie novel. The characters are amusing, interesting, and enjoyable to interact with. Furthermore, the plot is captivating, and the setting is spectacular. As such, I adore it and I recommend buying it here! Can you solve every problem you face? Use your mind map to piece together the clues, and save the day.
