Premiering this October on the new Machinima Prime channel on YouTube, and on Halo Waypoint, “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” is a live-action digital series that takes fans back to the terrifying beginning of the Human/Covenant war,  when the Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC’s greatest vessel: the UNSC Infinity. “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” tells a story leading into the events of “Halo 4,” the biggest entertainment event of 2012.

Check out the short teaser below:

Created in partnership with top Hollywood talent from film, television and new media, “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” brings a brand new “Halo” story to life on a scale never before seen in the “Halo” Universe.   The series will debut this October on Machinima Prime and on Halo Waypoint as a five episode series.  The “Halo 4” Limited Edition game will include access to the “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn” Special Edition via Halo Waypoint, with never-before-seen bonus footage, as well as exclusive fiction and behind-the-scenes content.

Stay tuned for more updates as well as the full trailer to be revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con in the U.S., 12-15 July.

In addition to a rich story and campaign, “Halo 4” introduces a groundbreaking new multiplayer offering, called “Halo Infinity Multiplayer,” that builds off of the “Halo” franchise’s rich multiplayer history and promises to continue to innovate and redefine the way people think about storytelling and multiplayer experiences.

Download Issue 3 of The MagPi Digital Magazine for lovers of the Raspberry Pi

If you have, or are interested in the Raspberry Pi, then you might want to download the new issue of The MagPi digital magazine.

page_1_thumb_large

This is how the Raspberry Pi guys describe the magazine:

The MagPi, a free online magazine dedicated to the Raspberry Pi, whose first issue was released a few days ago, is a perfect example of that. It’s been put together entirely by volunteers, guided by Ash Stone, Jason “Jaseman” Davies, Meltwater and other names you may recognise from the forums and comments on this site. I was broadly aware they were up to something, but I was amazed at the scope of what they sent me to look at earlier in the week, and I’ve been really, really impressed by the first issue. There are Debian and Puppy guides, articles on computing history, ideas for robotics projects, tutorials in Scratch and Python (with code you can type in yourself, just like in the good old days), features about the Raspberry Pi itself, and other goodies to dig into. I really can’t recommend it enough, and if you haven’t been lucky enough to get to the head of the queue, you don’t need a Raspberry Pi to find it useful (you might actually find the magazine good preparation before yours arrives).

It is a really interesting read – so go download it today, and let us know what you think!

StableBit DrivePool for Windows Home Server 2011 Beta 1.0.2.6298 released

There has been another beta build from CoveCube! StableBit DrivePool development marches on – now its version 1.0.2.6298.

600px-Stablebit_drivepool_screen_thu16

Here is how CoveCube describes this application:

  • Combine all your hard drives into one big storage pool (except the system drive with the OS).
  • Add and remove drives from the pool at any time without re-partitioning or manually moving folders.
  • Create duplicated folders on the storage drive pool that are protected against single drive failure. If a drive fails on which a duplicated file was stored, the contents of that file will remain readable even without the drive.
  • All your data is stored in standard NTFS files. You can always access your files even if the Windows Home Server completely crashes or this add-in can’t be used.

This beta version’s change log:

1.0.2.6298

* Fixed disk enumeration, where disks would not come out of a missing state or newly added disks would not immediately show up as being part of the pool.

* [D] Do not fail when a file needs to be extended due to a file mapping object.

* [D] Changes made to dirty pages in a mapped view (section), should be visible to non-mapped reads. In particular, this was breaking the SQL installer.

Go Further with Ford 2012: The 2013 Mustang

We spent last week with Ford at their Future Trends event in Detroit, and on the last day we were taken to Ford’s Test Track. One of the things we got to do was see and drive the new 2013 Mustangs, including being driven around by a professional driver.

CDW - Go Further with Ford 2012 165

The area for this part of the day was called Adrenaline Road, and they were not kidding!

There were six cars in all – 2 driven by professionals, 2 automatics and 2 manuals.

Towards the end of the morning they had to replace both professionally driven cars because they had gone through all the tyres!

And here is a video showing the new 2013 Mustangs, the Adrenaline Course, being driven around by the two professional drivers and they us having a go ourselves!

Go Further with Ford 2012: The 2013 Ford Fusion Wind Tunnel Test

We spent last week with Ford at their Future Trends event in Detroit, and one of the sessions included seeing how they test their cars in a wind tunnel.

CDW - Go Further with Ford 2012 092

We were taken to Wind Tunnel 8 where we would be standing in the wind tunnel during a test.

Because we were actually in the wind tunnel they only took it up to around 25 mph.

CDW - Go Further with Ford 2012 088

Using smoke, they demonstrated how the new 2013 Ford Fusion deals with wind and is aerodynamic.
