No Octa Core for UK Samsung Galaxy S4

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will reportedly arrive in the UK with a 1.9GHz quad core chip on board, rather than the more powerful processor of other world territories. T3 is reporting that Britain will not be one of the markets to receive the 1.6GHz octa-based models of the handset at launch.

Samsung Galaxy S4

“The Samsung Galaxy S4 is equipped with a 1.9GHz Quad-core AP or a 1.6GHz Octa-core AP. The selection of AP varies by markets. In the UK the Galaxy S 4 will be available as a 4G device with a 1.9GHz Quad Core Processor,” a Samsung spokesperson told the website.

It remains unclear how the presence of the 1.6GHz octa-core processor will impact on the device’s performance, with Samsung yet to confirm whether the more-powerful model will be released in the UK at a later date.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S4 at a press conference last week, confirming that the smartphone will run the latest Android 4.2.2 operating system and come equipped with innovative software features, such as eye control and a dual camera mode.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will launch in the UK on April 26.

HTC One Delayed By Supply Problems

HTC has been forced to delay the release of its new flagship HTC One smartphone due to reported problems sourcing components for the device.

Pre-orders of the Android phone, announced on 19th February, have been pushed back to late March at the earliest, and could slip into early April in some markets.

HTC One_B&W

The Wall Street Journal claims that HTC has problems throughout its supply chain, with claims that suppliers have lost faith in the firm after several lean years.

An anonymous source told the journal that HTC has had particular trouble securing components for the HTC One’s unique ‘ultrapixel’ camera, as it is no longer considered “a tier-one customer” by suppliers.

The firm is also understood to have struggled sourcing the phone’s sculpted metal casing.

The source added: “The company has a problem managing its component suppliers as it has changed its order forecasts drastically and frequently following last year’s unexpected slump in shipments.”

Benjamin Ho, the HTC chief marketing officer, said in a statement that the firm was “working tirelessly with all of our channel partners to ensure that we can fulfil as many [HTC One] orders as possible”.

He added: “We will start fulfilling pre-orders by the end of March in certain markets and will roll out to more markets as we approach April.”

HTC saw its revenues fall 62% in the final quarter of 2012, and the Taiwanese firm has tried unsuccessfully over the last few years to keep pace with big rivals Samsung and Apple.

The Wall Street Journal suggested that HTC boss Peter Chou may have to step down if the HTC One is not a success, and this delay could prove costly in that regard.

NETGEAR REVOLUTIONIZES CONNECTED STORAGE AND DATA PROTECTION WITH NEW READYNAS PRODUCTS

NAS models feature new operating system, modern GUI, redesigned hardware and a wealth of user applications and data protection technology

SAN JOSE, Calif. — March 18, 2013 — NETGEAR®, Inc. (NASDAQGM: NTGR) (www.netgear.com), a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses and service providers, today announced a new portfolio of networked-attached-storage (NAS) products which run on the newly developed ReadyNAS® OS 6. These revolutionary devices are built on a custom platform designed as “storage made easy” for both the home and small to medium-sized businesses (SMB). NETGEAR also unveiled a suite of new downloadable applications for these products on the genie+™ marketplace.

With a sleek new interface and a rich set of embedded or easily downloadable applications, this NAS storage portfolio pairs the latest in performance and scalability with cutting-edge technologies such as unlimited snapshots and cloud-managed replication, which dramatically reduces any possibility of data loss. Once again, NETGEAR is taking features and capabilities previously available only from expensive, large-enterprise vendors and lowering the cost while dramatically simplifying deployment and manageability to provide users with affordable, powerful, and reliable NAS storage.

Photographs, video clips, songs, websites, email, client files, and application data on physical or virtual servers — the type of information that enriches our lives and is essential to business can seem endless. With ReadyNAS, customers finally have an advanced, easy-to-use solution for centralizing, securing, and controlling access to digital assets. What’s more, cloud-based discovery and file management through NETGEAR’s ReadyCLOUD™ simplifies the set-up experience and enables full ongoing management of data from any web-connected device.

“As a photographer, my images are the foundation of my various photography businesses,” explains Colby Brown, professional photographer and photo educator. “ReadyNAS is a full-featured file server providing access to all my data while on the road, an easy ability to backup data while outside of the office, and the ability to collaborate with other colleagues when I am in the field. With the new ReadyNAS operating system, I don’t need an entire IT department to get up and running, and the clean new interface takes all the challenges out of running effective backups of my valuable data.”

The latest additions to the award-wining ReadyNAS product family (www.netgear.com/readynas) are available in three new series of desktop models and a 1U rackmount, each designed for the unique needs of home users and small to medium-sized businesses.

  • The entry level ReadyNAS 100 Series (RN102xx, RN104xx) is designed for home use, and comes in two-bay and four-bay models that are offered as either diskless or populated with drives.
  • The ReadyNAS 300 Series (RN312xx, RN314xx, RN316xx) is optimized for small business networks and remote or branch office needs, and offers two-bay, four-bay, and six-bay versions that are either diskless or populated with drives.

JUDE MATHIS

“Everyone teases me for being a do-gooding honors student, and maybe they’re right. I just can’t let things like this go.”

A young teen who has ventured away from his hometown to become a medical intern at the capital. For better or worse, he has a tendency to involve himself with other people’s problems. As a result, he gets wrapped up in an epic journey far beyond his control.

Generally, he is a quiet, book-smart individual that doesn’t like physical violence. However, he possesses highly competent melee fighting capabilities that greatly help his allies in combat.

He looks up to Milla for her strength and conviction. These are traits he feels he lacks, and so he travels with her to learn from her ways.

Here is a video of Jude in battle:

MILLA MAXWELL

“Fretting over it won’t strengthen your resolve. Only willpower alone can do that.”

A mysterious woman who is accompanied by the Four Great Spirits of Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. She is bound by her strong sense of responsibility and duty as Maxwell, the Lord of Spirits. She will stop at nothing to achieve her goals.

Though she is incredibly wise beyond her years, her lack of societal interaction has left her void of basic societal etiquette. Even the most trivial idiosyncrasies and customs of man are of great interest to her.

Through her travels with Jude, she slowly gains a greater understanding of humanity and their emotions.

Here is a video of Milla in battle:

Tales of Xillia will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in July.
