In celebration of the highly anticipated launch of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, the first of three Legendary character distribution events begins August 19th only at participating GameStop stores in the United States.
Players can get their hands on Shiny versions of powerful and hard-to-get Legendary Pokémon—Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina—starting with Dialga, which was featured on the cover of the Pokémon Diamond video game.
What makes this event extraordinary is that each of the distributed Legendary Pokémon, which are already difficult to get during gameplay, will be Shiny, meaning they have unusual colouring that is extremely rare. Each Shiny Pokémon will be available, one at a time, for only three weeks each, so Trainers will need to plan accordingly and head to a participating GameStop location if they want to add these extremely rare Legendary Pokémon to their Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 game. Once the Steel- and Dragon-type Dialga’s distribution ends on September 8th, Pokémon fans can get a Shiny version of the Water- and Dragon-type Pokémon Palkia, beginning September 9th, and a Shiny version of the Ghost- and Dragon-type Pokémon Giratina, beginning September 30th.
Both of the subsequent events are also taking place at participating GameStop stores in the United States.
Palkia is the Legendary Pokémon featured on the cover of Pokémon Pearl, and the Giratina players will receive is the same Legendary Pokémon that appears in both Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. Fans who own Pokémon Black, Pokémon White, Pokémon Black 2, or Pokémon White 2 can bring their copy of the game and their Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DS system to participating GameStop stores and get a Shiny Dialga, Shiny Palkia, and Shiny Giratina during the following dates:
Shiny Dialga: Monday, August 19th, 2013–Sunday, September 8th, 2013
Shiny Palkia: Monday, September 9th, 2013–Sunday, September 29th, 2013
Shiny Giratina: Monday, September 30th, 2013–Sunday, October 20th, 2013
Players will need to have the Pokédex within the game and have no more than 11 Wonder Cards in their possession.
In Canada, the Shiny Dialga character distribution event begins Friday, August 30th, at participating EB Games locations. Canadian players can get a Shiny Palkia beginning Friday, September 13th, and a Shiny Giratina beginning Friday, September 27th, at participating EB Games stores across Canada.

505 Games, today announced the delay of the heavily anticipated Ashes Cricket 2013 video game. Originally scheduled for release on PC and the Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360 to coincide with the 1st Ashes series of 2013 in the United Kingdom, the release has been delayed to November 2013 when the return series starts in Australia.
Tim Woodley, Senior Vice President Global Brand & Marketing for 505 Games, said: “It is hugely disappointing that 505 Games has had to make this announcement today. We all had high hopes of bringing out a stellar cricket game during the first leg of this unprecedented Ashes year. But the fact of the matter is, we took a long hard look at the game as it stands and decided it simply wasn’t good enough in its current state. It was simply not worthy of the Ashes name.
“Unforeseen issues which developer Trickstar faced in latter stages of development have meant that they have been unable to do the requisite amount of polishing and fine-tuning which any game needs.
We owe it to ourselves, to our licensors, the ECB and Cricket Australia, but most of all to the dedicated cricket fans and gamers to put our best foot forward. “It is small compensation that we have the benefit of a second Ashes series in this unique cricketing year which affords us further time to work on the game and get it right for the return leg.
We are confident that the time between now and the second Ashes series will be enough to add the final polish we believe the game needs. We are committed, as we always have been, to releasing a great game and we are doing everything in our power to ensure this is the case.”
Codemasters has announced two game updates coming soon which have both been driven by that feedback. One is an extensive Community Patch which we hope will go a long way to improving everyone’s experience in the game. The other is a returning game mode from the original GRID which we’ll be releasing for free – we’re excited to let you know that Demo Derby is on its way to GRID 2!
Codemasters has really been listening to feedback immensely, for instance, in the previous patch your car ghosting when you’re applied with a corner cutting penalty is something that stemmed directly from feedback from the community. The next patch is full of further examples of features you’ve been asking for. We expect it to be released sometime in August, dependent on Submission timings and we’ll let you know a more specific date the closer we get.
But first, let’s talk about some of what will be coming in the Community Patch for the PS3,Xbox 360 and PC….
Custom Playlist
We want to make the Custom Playlist a more worthwhile experience and as such we’ve made a change that increases the amount of experience and money you get for participating.
This will ensure that you are no longer penalised for wanting to opt out of the Online Playlists and you’ll now be able to race the way you want to race, with no hindrance to your online progression. Hardcore Playlist
Codemasters has heard your feedback regarding the online playlists and once the patch hits there’ll be an additional playlist for you to select.
Called ‘Hardcore’, this playlist will remove the use of flashbacks and turn on full mechanical damage. It will also prioritise race events around circuits. Think you’re an elite racer? Go hardcore and prove it. Level Cap
If you’ve hit level 30 online you’ll be pleased to know that we’re now giving you the ability to progress even further. The online level cap will be raised to 99…good luck! Fastest Lap Times
The addition of fastest lap times is something we’ve heard come up again and again and as a result we’re pleased to confirm that they will now display at the end of an event on the race results screen while playing online. New Liveries
We’ve loved seeing what you’ve created so far with your custom liveries and you’ll soon have access to a host of new designs, including some of the AI designs from single player. Maximum Laps
We’ve heard a lot of feedback, especially from Clubs and Leagues, about the maximum number of laps you can set in a race. As a result we’ve increased the maximum from 5 up to 10. For those of you who want longer races we recommend using the Endurance game mode. Veto Weighting
Previously if you wanted to veto an event type or location it turned out it was difficult to get a passing vote. We’ve made some changes to the system so that vetos are now much fairer and only require 51% of the lobby to make the vote for a change to occur. Voice Option
As requested, you can now mute your own microphone. Country Flags
We know many of you enjoyed this feature in the original GRID and we’re pleased to confirm it will make a return. A player’s country flag will now be displayed next to their name plate while racing and on the event results screen. Clean Race Bonus
The amount of money rewarded for racing clean has been increased. Skip the Level up Graphic
We understand that not everyone wants to watch the ‘level up box’ at the end of each race and you’ll now be able to skip this at the press of a button.
Anti-Cheat
We’ve also made some changes to our anti-cheat system and while we won’t go into detail about how we’ve approached these changes, what we will say is that we’re hopeful the leaderboards within the game will now be free of those who have to use illegitimate means to succeed. Demolition Derby – The Return (and it’s free!)
The focus with GRID 2 was all about racing in a new world of competitive motorsport, both on and offline. But it’s fair to say many of our ‘old-school’ GRID players were disappointed about the lack of a Demo Derby mode in GRID 2. Today we’re pleased to tell you that we are currently working on this mode for GRID 2 we’ll be making it available for free, across all platforms.

What’s in the Box?
The box contains the NOW TV box itself, some manuals, an HDMI cable, a power connector and a remote control, with batteries.
A Closer Look
As you can see, the remote fits into your hand – it feels a little plasticy but let’s not forget the whole thing costs under a tenner!
The rear of the box has an HDMI port, an A/V Out port, a reset switch and the power in. There is no on/off switch as the unit itself draws very little power and is expected to be left on all the time.
Unboxing and Configuring the NOW TV box (Video)
To show just how quick and easy it is to unbox, setup and configure, I made a short video:
Final Thoughts
If you looked at the NOW TV box and thought it looks a lot like a ROKU box you wouldn’t be wrong – it is a ROKU box. It does look a little plasticy (just like the remote control) but again, the overall cost is £9.99 (which includes postage and packing) so it doesn’t really have to look spectacular. It is very small though, measuring 84mm x 84mm x 24mm and weighing hardly anything at all!
Setting up the NOW TV box was simple and fast (just look at the video above) and I was streaming away in no time at all. One thing I was impressed with before I even plugged it in was that there was an HDMI cable in the box. This may not seem like a big deal but a lot of considerably more expensive devices don’t include one in the box, and so that just adds to the costs, thankfully not it this case.
The box is wireless only – which is great if you have a really strong wireless signal in the room you want to use it, but not great if you don’t! Because everything is streamed to the box over the Internet if you have a poor wireless signal you will get a lot of buffering, which will ruin your viewing pleasure.
If you don’t want to buy a subscription to Sky Sports or Sky Movies you don’t have to. You can use all the free services such as BBC iPlayer and Sky News. You can also easily add other services from the vast catalogue, all at the touch of a button on the controller.
If you do want to watch Sky Sports you can easily by a day pass for £9.99 a day, and Sky Movies is currently £8.99 a month, which will rise to £15 month, although there is a free 30 day trial as well.
I really liked the NOW TV box, it is extremely good value for money, easy to setup and use and breathes new life into your older TV. The only disappointment for me was that the maximum resolution is 720P, but for older TV’s this probably won’t be an issue as the older TV may not be able to go any higher.
So for £9.99 its a bargain and I highly recommend buying one today.
With The Bureau: XCOM Declassified out in a few weeks, I visited 2K Marin in San Francisco to see more of the game, and managed to sneak out a series of exclusive gameplay videos to share with you.
The year is 1962, JFK is President and the Cold War has the nation gripped by fear – but a far more powerful and insidious enemy than communism is threatening America. Known only to a select few, a top-secret government unit called The Bureau begins investigating and concealing a series of mysterious attacks by an otherworldly enemy. As special agent William Carter, players call the shots, pull the trigger and lead their squad in a gripping third-person tactical shooter set within a high-stakes, covert war to protect humanity. The Bureau has been erasing the truth for decades. The time will come for the truth to be revealed.
Here is part three of our exclusive gameplay footage video, and it takes us to the end of the first mission:
