Tomb Raider Live In Concert with Full Orchestra & Choir Announced for London Royal Festival Hall – 17th September 2018

One of the most iconic video games in history, Tomb Raider will have the music from the first three games in the franchise celebrated at the Royal Festival Hall with a full live orchestra and choir.

Since the release in 1996 of the original 3D action / adventure game, the series, which introduced one of the most iconic female super heroines of all time, Lara Croft, has been an unprecedented and huge success.

By 1999, there had been three Tomb Raider games with combined sales of over 30 million copies worldwide. Lara Croft had become universally recognised and was not only being used to advertise products such as Lucozade, she even went on tour with U2.

But it wasn’t just Tomb Raider and Lara Croft that had attained universal popularity. The game’s remarkable music had itself become an integral part of the phenomenon. Written by internationally acclaimed games composer, Nathan McCree, the theme from Tomb Raider (1996) is as famous in the gaming world as James Bond is to film.

The Tomb Raider Suite is comprised of 24 fully orchestrated pieces of music written for the concert stage by McCree and is based on his original compositions for the first three games: Tomb Raider (1996), Tomb Raider II and Tomb Raider III

Audience members at the Royal Festival Hall will be engulfed by a full live orchestra and choir performing the unique and unforgettable score, alongside classic moments from the video games which will be projected on a giant screen behind the orchestra.

Final Thoughts

So you have the YI Discovery Action Camera but you want to keep it protected. Maybe you want to use it underwater, or on the water, or maybe you want to keep it safe in dusty environments. That’s where the Waterproof Case comes it.

It’s very use to use – just press the clip and open the back – place the camera in and seal it back up.

There is a button on the top for turning the camera on and off and starting the recording.

The case is very clear, even underwater, and it certainly protected the camera well.

You even get parts that enable you to attach the camera and case to a selfie stick (if that’s your thing)!

Just make sure you wipe off the fingerprints from the case before using it – it marks easily.

YI is committed to using innovative technology to make everyday life safer, richer and more fun.”

What’s in the box?

The box contains the camera, a battery, a cable and instructions.

A Closer Look

There is also an app you can install onto your smartphone.

You can see, and control all of the device settings from the app.

Final Thoughts

The first thing you notice when you open the box is that the camera is very very small so it can easily slip in to a pocket or bag and not take up much room at all!

Setting up the camera for the first time was very simple and quick – using the app made it even easier as the touchscreen on the back of the camera is quite small.

You connect the app to the camera using the cameras built in 2.4Ghz wifi and then you use the app to download any firmware updates and then send those to the camera.

You can change a number of settings, including the quality of the recordings (all the way up to 4K 20fps), the format of the records (NTSC or PAL), sounds, and so on. You can also see various information such as the size of the card in the camera, record times, and so on.

Using the camera is so easy – just press and hold the power button on the top of the camera to switch on, then press the same button to start and stop the recording. My only slight gripe with that is that the button is fairly sensitive so it is easy to stop the recording by accident – although this will largely depend on how you hold the camera.

There are different modes built into the camera, including burst mode and time lapse mode so it’s a lot more than just a simple point and shoot.

The battery life is very good – you get around 75 minutes of recording at 4K and around 110 minutes at 1080p. The battery is charged via the supplied cable when you connect it to any USB port or plug.

You can also take pictures with the camera if you didn’t want to shoot video.

You can use the app to view live video if you wish so you could set the camera up somewhere and then control it from the app. You can also use the app to edit the pictures and video and then share whatever you produce easily.

The sound quality is very good too.

There is also a waterproof case for the camera which we will look at separately.

The YI Discovery Action Camera is a great addition to whatever your existing camera set up is – YI describe it as a backup camera but you can certainly use it for more than that if you wish, and for the price its a no brainer – buy it today, you really wont be disappointed.

The YI Discovery Action Camera is available now priced around £42.99.

You can learn more from the Yi website.

LUMINES REMASTERED

The critically-acclaimed puzzle game is back! LUMINES REMASTERED is an HD remake of the original Lumines that debuted in 2004 on the PSP. Earning high praise and awards, it remained the top-rated title on the platform for four years and continued on to establish an action-puzzle series loved by millions of players.

LUMINES REMASTERED beautifully marries the elements of sound, light and puzzle-action into one addictive, yet easy-to-play game. You’re at the center of the high-energy, block-dropping action while you groove to awesome house, trance and techno beats!

M.A.C.E.

M.A.C.E. is a classic space shoot ’em up, inspired by the legendary Amiga games of this genre. Handdrawn 2D graphics in HD resolutions, parallax scrolling, explosion effects and optimized games mechanics, combined with the proven gameplay are transporting the Spirit of Amiga in today’s Age.

Next Up Hero

Next Up Hero is a dungeon crawler featuring hand-drawn heroes that hack, slash, bongo-drum, boomerang, and jet their way through Ventures. Choose your Hero and start rolling dungeons, gearing out, and maxing your stats. Invite a friend for co-op—you’re going to need all the help you can get.

Magical Brickout

Magical Brickout offers a new twist on the beloved classic Breakout formula. Instead of moving a small paddle back and forth across the screen you are able to rotate the bricks in a circular fashion as you frantically try to keep the ball in the play area. This fast-paced and addictive gameplay is only half of the fun. Combined with a fantasy theme and beautifully hand painted graphics, casual and hardcore gamers will be entertained for hours.

Eventide 3: Legacy of Legends

Step into the shoes of Mary Gilbert – world renowned botanist and guardian of Fern Flower—to once again explore the mythical realm of Slavic fables. Travel to forgotten flying islands among the clouds to stop an evil sorcerer and gain the favor of a thunder god. Save your kidnapped brother and prevent a catastrophic flood caused by the conflict between humans and the ancient Clouders.

See you next week for another round-up of the new ID@Xbox releases.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy out now for ps4, xbox one, nintendo switch

0

Crash Bandicoot fans and gamers can relive the ‘90s with the launch of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy’s arrival to new platforms marks the first time that the original three games – Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped – will be playable on these platforms.

To celebrate launch day, Activision is bringing Stormy Ascent and Future Tense to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy at no additional charge. Stormy Ascent, the infamous, unfinished level from the original Crash Bandicoot game allows players to embark on a treacherous journey up the walls of a terrifying castle, on a stormy night filled with Crash’s fiercest enemies. In 2017, Stormy Ascent launched exclusively to the PlayStation Store. Now, bandicoots on all platforms will be able to experience the fun of this remastered and notoriously difficult level designed to challenge the most hardened of Crash fans! Existing Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy owners on PlayStation 4 can download Stormy Ascent at no additional charge from the PlayStation Store.

The ‘coot core will also receive a brand-new level called Future Tense. Developed by Vicarious Visions, Future Tense brings an extra layer of difficulty to Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped’s Future world, as players dodge rockets, destroy robots and leap over lasers while ascending a massive futuristic skyscraper. Future Tense pays homage to the unreleased Waterfall level from the original Crash Bandicoot game. Future Tense is now available at no additional charge to all gamers on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

“Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was the number one‐selling remastered collection in PS4 history, and we’re excited to bring Crash in all his “Fur-K” glory to all major platforms today,” said Steve Young, Chief Revenue Officer at Activision. “Crash has bridged gaps between generations, and we’re honored to continue his legacy by giving fans the opportunity to experience the fun of the remastered trilogy across multiple platforms.”

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy features more than 100 levels to explore, dazzling “N. Hanced Fur-K” graphics and cinematics, an acclaimed soundtrack, newly recorded dialogue from familiar voice actors, and much more.
