I just updated my Windows Server code name Vail to the new date of March 15, 2011. Thank you to Microsoft for saving me some frustration at the last minute and giving us a solution to continue beta testing. Read on to follow this quick walk-through with screen captures and instructions.
Jonas Svenson has just posted over at the Windows Home Server Blog that our WHS that use homeserver.com as domain names may have issues tomorrow as their service migrates to the Azure platform. If your IP is static then you should still have Remote Access tomorrow however, if it changes, you will not be able to access your server remotely until Wednesday. Once again, this was a CES that included Boxee showing off their Boxee Box, and also other companies showing off the Boxee software on their hardware. Today Boxee released a firmware update to the Boxee Box but within a few hours they had pulled it!
You know the current beta release of Vail expires tomorrow, right? Have you backed up any data you have on the system? Make sure you also back up any Add-Ins or other software you may have installed outside of the Shared Folders. In addition, make sure you prepare an alternative way for Remote Web Access.
