Huawei announces the Nova and the Nova Plus at IFA 2016

Today Huawei in Berlin for IFA 2016 has introduced two completely new devices, the Nova and Nova Plus.

The Huawei Nova and Nova Plus is the newest Huawei’s devices, at this years IFA 2016. The 5-inch Huawei Nova looks like a shrunken-down Nexus 6P, while the 5.5-inch Nova Plus takes its cues from the Mate line up.

The Huawei Nova and Nova Plus are both powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor, they feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage space. The Nova has a 12-megapixel camera paired with 5-inch display and a 3020mAh battery, whereas the Nova plus camera clocks in at 16-megapixels with OIS, has a 5.5-inch

With the Huawei Nova it featuring a 12MP sensor with phase-detection autofocus with a 1.25 micron pixels, while the Huawei Nova Plus gets a little upgrade with a 16MP and optical image stabilization. Both the Nova and Nova Plus phones have 8MP front cameras, with Huawei’s beautification modes baked into the camera app.

Both new phones will have USB Type-C, , so the Nova and Nova Plus feature the new connectivity standard. Fingerprint sensors are located on the back of the phones.

The Nova and Nova Plus runs on the EMUI 4.1, based on Marshmallow, One feature the company showed off was Knuckle Sense, which lets you input gestures with your finger knuckles the screen can tell the difference between fingertips and knuckles by measuring the electric conductivity of the skin.

The price of the Huawei Nova is €399 fro 3GB/32GB and the Nova Plus will be €429 for 3GB/32GB.

Acer announces the Swift 1, 3 and the Swift 7 at IFA 2016

Today Acer has announces the new Swift 7 with a record in 9.98 mm thickness, at IFA in Berlin. The Swift 7 has a 13.3-inch IPS-display with a Full HD-resolution and protective glass Gorilla Glass, inside – Intel Core i5 processor seventh generation (Kaby Lake, Y-series) with very low power consumption. According to the manufacturer, while the laptop battery life up to 9 hours.

Acer Swift 7 weighs only 1.1 kg and is equipped with up to 8 GB of RAM and SSD-drive capacity of 256 GB. The notebook works absolutely noiselessly thanks to the passive cooling of the processor. Despite the small thickness of the shell, the engineers Acer managed to accommodate two-port USB-C 3.1. In Europe, the starting price of ultrabook – 1300 euros.

Along with the laptop, the record company released three model line. Acer Swift 5 to learn the 14-inch Full HD-display, Intel Kaby Lake chip, up to 8 GB of RAM and SSD 256 GB or 512 GB. On a single charge it will last as long as 13 hours, shell thickness increased to 14.6 mm, but the keyboard had backlighting, and available as an option for touch input support.

SONOS, Ushers in New Era of Connected Home Listening

Sonos today unveiled software innovations including voice control and partner app integrations that make it easier than ever for listeners to navigate, discover and share music in their homes. The company also demonstrated how partners are building new connected home experiences on the Sonos platform, further bolstering its leadership in multi-room home audio.

“With the unprecedented growth in streaming, music has become abundant and immediate,” said Sonos Chief Executive Officer John MacFarlane. “Together with a growing ecosystem of partners, we’re making sure Sonos owners can easily play the music they love out loud in every room in the home, and intuitively control that experience using our app, our partners’ apps, touch and voice.”

Alexa, Turn It Up!

Sonos owners with an Alexa-enabled device such as an Amazon Echo or Echo Dot will soon be able to use Amazon’s popular Alexa service to control their Sonos sound system, the companies announced. The software integration – collaboratively built from the ground up using the Alexa Voice Service (AVS) SDK – taps into both Sonos’ and Alexa’s existing music capabilities, so owners don’t have to learn additional commands or key words. Simply ask Alexa to play your music from Amazon Music, Spotify and more and it will flow to any group of Sonos speakers in the home. By integrating Alexa into their Sonos sound systems, owners can use their voice to play, pause, skip, control volume and more.

“Our Amazon customers love listening to music. With Echo and Alexa, we combined that love of music with the ease of hands-free voice control, and today, music is one of the most-used features on Alexa-enabled devices,” said Mike George, vice president, Amazon. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Sonos to combine the magic of Alexa with an incredible way to listen to music in every room in the home.”

“Our mission is to fill every home with music,” said Sonos President Patrick Spence. “We don’t care what you listen to, how you get to it, or in what room – we just want it to be effortless, quick and epic. Alexa on Sonos will be all that, and fun too.”

These new voice capabilities will be delivered in a software update that will work with new and previously purchased Sonos and Alexa-enabled devices such as Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap and Amazon Fire TV. The companies will begin rolling out the experience through an invite-only beta test later this year, with general availability in 2017.

I Want My Spotify

Sonos also announced a Spotify Connect integration with additional functionality that will make it the only whole-home sound system that can be fully controlled directly from the feature-rich Spotify app, including play controls and easy access to grouping and ungrouping of rooms. Spotify will be the first music streaming service that allows Spotify Premium listeners to have full control of the music all over their homes outside the Sonos app.

This inherently social listening experience also makes it possible for everyone in the home to control a listening session with both the Spotify and Sonos apps, which stay linked with one another. Friends coming over? They can connect to your WiFi and use their own Spotify app to instantly play music to your Sonos speakers without downloading the Sonos app. And as you can control your Sonos system when you’re away from your home WiFi, you can now have music playing for you as soon as you come home.

“Fifty percent of all Sonos households use Spotify,” said Sonos Vice President of Software Antoine Leblond. “By tightly integrating the Spotify experience with the Sonos system, we’ve created an easier way for Sonos owners to get music out of their phones and playing all around their homes.”

A Closer Look

Setting up the EX7300

You can easily set up the EX7300 using WPS by just pressing a couple of buttons. Or you can also set it up using the web interface. Make sure you have set the switch on the side of the EX7300 to determine if you want to use it in either Access Point mode or Extender mode.

The web interface configuration walks you through each step and only takes a few minutes.

Once you can finished the configuration you are good to go!

You can leave both networks running, or you can use Netter’s FastLane Technology which uses both WiFi bands to establish a single high-speed connection.

Or you can choose to use the FastLane Technology and select whether you want the Router-to-Extender to use 2.5 GHz and the Extender-to-Device to use 5 GHz or the other way around.

When you have chosen you can easily see the status.

You can also adjust the Wireless Output Power depending on the size of the area the extender is sitting in.

And this is what the EX7300 looks like running.

Final Thoughts

The EX7300 is quite large so you may need to look around for a suitable power socket to plug it into.

The setup and configuration of the EX7300 was very simple and fairly quick – in fact the longest part of the process was updating the firmware on it.

We tested out both the normal mode of operation and also the FastLane Technology mode and for our setup we found that the FastLane Technology mode worked best for us. That’s not to say it’s better than the normal mode, but for us it worked better, so make sure you test both modes to see which one works best for you.

The range worked great throughout the house – we always had a good signal and a fast connection, even in those usual hard to get a signal places!

Having an Ethernet port on the device made it even more useful!

Influenced by the genre-bending drama, science fiction and horror TV shows of the 1990s (Twin Peaks, The X-Files, The Outer Limits [90s]), VIRGINIA is an interactive mystery told with a striking art style, cinematic soundtrack and a story that mixes the inexplicable, the absurd and the mundane.

Set in the last days of summer 1992, VIRGINIA is an original detective noir story, where players investigate the disappearance of Lucas Fairfax, a young boy in the rural town of Kingdom, Virginia, through the eyes of a graduate FBI agent assigned to her first case. As a rookie detective, you’re paired with an experienced partner whom your superiors instruct you to keep a watchful eye on.

As the story progresses, your partner’s trust in you will be tested to breaking point, all while your investigation takes on an increasingly sinister and supernatural turn, as the list of suspects grows ever larger and stranger.

NOW That’s What I Call Sing 2 drops on PS4/Xbox One this October

Ravenscourt and Voxler today announce that NOW That’s What I Call Sing 2 will be available from 14th October for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (Price: Solus £29.99 / 1-Mic £39.99).

NOW That’s What I Call Sing 2 will allow players to choose from 30 smash hits across both single player and multiplayer, which will support up to eight players on PS4 and Xbox One. Huge chart-toppers such as Justin Bieber with “Sorry”, Charlie Puth with “One Call Away”, Coldplay with “Adventure Of A Lifetime” and Jason Derulo with “Want To Want Me” are included in the track list. Also, hits from the likes of Years & Years with “King”, Meghan Trainor with “NO”, WALK THE MOON with “Shut Up And Dance” and more will be featured in NOW That’s What I Call Sing 2.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Salvation season finale DLC

The fourth and final DLC has been named “Salvation”, for Call of Duty: Black Ops III, will arrive first on PlayStation 4 on 6th September, with other next-gen platforms to follow. The DLC called Salvation, delivers the reality-altering finale of the Origins Zombies adventure, and four action-packed multiplayer environments for fans.

“Without a doubt, this is the most epic season of DLC that we’ve ever created for fans of Multiplayer and Zombies,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head, Treyarch. “At this point it goes without saying, that Zombies has been a true labor of love for the studio, and I’m proud to say that this will be a defining and epic experience for the fans who have joined us over the last 8 years.”

Salvation features Revelations, the long-awaited final chapter in the Origins Zombies saga. In Revelations, we meet up with the Origins characters after they’ve taken an epic journey through space and time – all of their struggles lead to this very moment. In this, the final chapter of the Zombies experience, Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nikolai finally come face to face with the mysterious Doctor Monty in The House. Confronted by an ancient evil, our heroes must fight the zombie horde once more in the final battle to save their immortal souls.

“With the release of Zombies as an Easter Egg in 2008’s Call of Duty: World at War, Treyarch set forth on a journey or, really a conversation with fans, and Revelations is the final punctuation mark,” said Jason Blundell, Director of Zombies, Treyarch. “The secrets we laid out years ago will finally make sense – we’ve been waiting a long time for this.”

Call of Duty: Black Ops III Salvation is also loaded with four new action-packed multiplayer maps that jettison players from the ancient walls of a medieval fortress to the deceptively quaint setting of a backyard picnic.
• Citadel: Once home to a powerful medieval army, this ancient castle now sits broken and abandoned. Tight corners force close-quarters engagements, while the moat and drawbridge allows for unique player movement opportunities in this mid-sized map. The last trespassers didn’t make it out alive – maybe you’ll have a better shot.
• Micro: What’s better than a BBQ on a hot summer day? A miniaturized war zone that takes place on a well-stocked family picnic table, that’s what! Navigate this bite-size battlefield for a larger-than-life experience.
• Outlaw: Gear up for a showdown in Outlaw; a western-style re-imagining of the fan favorite map Standoff from Call of Duty: Black Ops II. This rough-and-tough medium-sized map brings classic engagements, flanking routes and strategic positions for long and medium ranged combat.
• Rupture: The Call of Duty: World at War classic Outskirts is re-imagined as a high-tech facility, designed by a futuristic society desperate to repair the Earth’s atmosphere.
